Don John: This is probably the worst hotel I stayed in recent years! Too many problems. Let me elaborate:1. At check in, the front desk gave me the keys to a room which was already occupied by an african american gentleman. I opened the door with the key and found him very disgruntled. Went back to the front desk, got new keys to another room. But, I booked a 3 nights stay. The new keys only worked for one night. Next morning I can't open the door with all of my luggage and belongings inside. Went back to the front desk, the black lady went up to 5th floor with me and opened the door. She said I opened the door incorrectly. In the afternoon, still can't open the door. Then another front desk person admitted they mistakenly checked me out already, and reissued the keys.2. One elevator is broken. We have to walk all the way to the end of the hallway to get on an elevator, then walk all the way back to our room which is located very close to the broken elevator.3. carpets in the hallway and room are dirty4. At the free breakfast, someone who looks like a homeless person, came in with big plastic bags. He loaded those bags up with all the free breakfast food, left very little for the hotel guest, and left. That was a white person. The hotel clerks just looked on without saying anything.My advice: Even though this hotel is cheap, avoid it at all cost! Or, you will regret it.

The elevator is broken, the deadbolt on my room door did not work at all. The receptionist seemed bothered I was checking out, and didn't have any response to their being roaches in the room. I got the impression this wasn't the first time they've heard that. Rachel Robinson: This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. PLEASE listen to the 1 star reviews because my two night stay was a nightmare!!The room was very humid, smelled terrible and was extremely dirty. My room key stopped working 3 times and the receptionist for that shift was sleep behind the counter. The bathtub was so dirty I gagged when I saw it. The room and whole hotel was humid and our AC stopped working multiple times. At the end I was refunded for one night because this was awful. DO NOT BOOK HERE thx ;).

Tomas Rodriguez (T-Rodz): This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Being a long time La Quinta patron, saying that my family and I were disappointed is a gross understatement. I am going to list everything that made this stay one of the most inhospitable places I've stayed:1. Sheets were dirty and had stains on them.2. No shampoo, conditioner or lotion bottles, only bars of soap.3. Broken back door which seriously compromised the physical security of this establishment.4. Trash and garbage in the elevator, which broke down during our departure date. Also the primary elevator was out of commission. I had to exit the 3rd floor, with my luggage in hand, in order to check out.5. People staying there were openly smoking on the 5th floor.6. The breakfast service was substandard at best. Trash was overflowing, there was no coffee available, and food options were lacking.7. The floors on the tiled areas were sticky and had the appearance of not having been cleaned in days.I would have had a more enjoyable stay sleeping in my car, with my family, in a Walmart parking lot than what I went through. This place needs to be torn down and remodeled with a whole new staff hired that actually cares about hospitality.
J Stephens: The hotel is in a good location however the service here is almost non-existent. The floors are dirty, the breakfast area is never cleaned and all the tables were a mess with the same food on them from the day prior.When you can actually find a staff member they are always rude and upset you're asking them for something. The elevators don't work, the keys constantly have issues. I travel for a living and this is one of the worst hotels I've ever been in.Noteworthy details: This hotel is disgusting and the staff (when find one) including the manager doesn't care and are always inconvenienced by your mere presence.
Emily Scheumann: Don’t be fooled by their cleaver marketing. The pictures they post online are nothing like what the rooms actually look like. We arrived pretty late in the night and it took the front desk person forever to come out from the back room and actually help us. It was probably hard to hear us saying hello over the volume of the TikToks she was watching.Once we got to our room, we realized that the locks on our doors were’t very secure and the bathroom was disgusting. Overall, I do not recommend staying here.

Charlotte Oakley: Certain employees of this location are not.... The best .I phrase it that way, To be nice..The incidental charge the make you pay over the hotel stay, some people only pay 20 others 50.I was is in the $50 category. And employees slipped up and said something about a $20 incidental hold. That's when I said but I paid $50 everyday. The reason I was checking in and out everyday my vehicle broke down. I didn't know when it was going to be fixed so I had to make a reservation each day so every time I checked in and checked out it was another incidental hold. Then I realized I wasn't getting my incidentals back. They printed up paperwork they cannot show me where they were releasing my money. So almost a month worth of incidentals. At $50 a day.... my truck will finally be fixed in the next 2 days. .and as mentioned in another review this is not good by Hilton standards. But well worth the price line discounted rates . Housekeeping is great people!
Alin Bennett: A really great hotel. Two things were annoying. The wifi is not good. 1) I had to use my hotspot most of the time. 2) they rent their pool out to at least two swim schools. christine: Came for a family reunion was not pleased at all. This might as well be a pet/dog hotel dogs were everywhere no set floor for people who don’t enjoy dogs 😔. Not only did I also get stuck in the elevator for 3 mins the woman at the desk told me it was because of the storm I would think they would shut them all down if this was the case but they also allowed others to get stuck as well after it was brought to the attention of staff. During our dinner session not only did they have the iced tea set up 45 mins before dinner so it would be watered down by time we would have arrived. Also the paid bar left 2 hrs before the time slot was up. You guys also need a better system for your breakfast and have the correct dates when you give the vouchers during check in. Please also work on customer service there was only two woman who made this trip worth while the rest need a customer service course. This overall experience was super 8 value with Hilton prices. I wish I could get my money back. Horrible experience

However, the staff is very professional and the hotel itself has been updated within the last 5 years and is very clean, modern and comfortable. Obviously, there's no microwave in most rooms but, there's one available on each floor. Solid Hilton that meets expectations.

England: I decided to stay here for a few days. I haven't stayed here in years. This place needs a complete renovation. Apparently the lobby and restaurant area was only renovated.The rooms are very outdated. The carpet and furniture stinks and gave me a very bad headache. The floor I was on was hot and apparently the air wasn't working properly. The internet services wasn't working properly either.This is not a place I would choose to stay at again. Big dogs were walking around everywhere. They were in the eating areas just very uncomfortable for me. I personally don't like to eat around animals.

This seemed to go away after a few minutes (or I became used to it.)However, everything else was immaculate! The cleanest coffee pot in my many hotels stays so far this year. The refrigerator was clean and cold. It even had a working freezer which I made use of. Even when I moved the comfort chair, I found no left behind surprises. I felt comfortable spending two nights there. Well done cleaning crew.

Breakfast is available from 6:30 - 10:00 am.The location of the Inn on the edge of the campus of NCSU is handy for visiting the University.I have returned to the Ramada Inn by Wyndham Raleigh several times in 2 months while my dog was treated at the Dental Center of NCSU Veterinary School.ElaineRooms: The rooms I have stayed in were very clean nicely appointed. The beds were very comfortable. Each room had a TV a small microwave refrigerator for guest use. The bathrooms vanities were stocked with everything you might need including a small coffeemaker, hair dryer plenty of towels.Nearby activities: The NCSU Veterinary School Campus is within walking distance. The Fairgrounds is a short drive away. The North Carolina Art Museum is beautiful very close also.Noteworthy details: There are several amenities that make a stay at this Ramada very enjoyable. There is a large, comfortable living room with a large TV, a fireplace comfortable furniture.There is a swimming pool with a pleasant deck a small workout room with machines for guests to use.The breakfasts are very good with a nice selection of food beverages. The two level dining room is clean nicely furnished. The music is a very nice addition to the atmosphere.

The hotel was close, the rooms were clean, the pool area is an amazing oasis. Very satisfied with our stay there. Doris Meredith: While visiting the Raleigh area my family and I stayed here. The hotel is very clean. The beds are super comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly. They also offer a military discount which is a plus. We enjoyed breakfast each morning which offered a wide variety to choose from. The landscape in the courtyard is beautiful and the pool area is neatly kept. It is conveniently located near the downtown exit which makes it easy to visit all the local shops and restaurants. I will definitely be staying here again and I highly recommend this hotel. 5🌟

Dena Stevens: I had a wonderful wedding reception here. The inside of the lodge is beautiful, with warm wood floors and two large stone fireplaces. The kitchen space was fantastic, and included a walk-in cool room. The staff was friendly and helpful. My wedding was in the middle of the summer; it was extremely hot and muggy outside, but we stayed cool inside, even with a large crowd. The only downside is that no red drinks are allowed, including red wine and red punch, because they want to protect the floors. That didn't deter us, though, or make our wedding any less fun. We kept it simple and let the beauty of the room and the trees do the decorating for us. If I got to do it all over again, I would choose Campbell Lodge, every time!

Brian Joseph: First, let me start by saying I really like this place... The staff is top notch, and the service was impeccable. The grounds and rooms, as well as the amenities, are meticulously maintained. The food was awesome! Everything we tried was simply devine, and though everything on the various menus were pricey, it was all worth it due to the service and quality alone. The spa was truly relaxing, and the masseuses there and the support staff were great. That said, the ONLY thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars was the fact the road noise from I-40 was just horrible and non-stop due to it is literally right behind it, which made being on the lakeview balcony almost impossible, and enjoying the outside amenties relatively noisy. But again, everything else was really good, the concierge and the front office were awesome and we truly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely come back (I will just be inside more).

Annie Thompson: Our families recommended the Umstead as the top place to have your wedding…so we booked our wedding there. On the day of the wedding someone in our wedding party tested positive for Covid. We decided to cancel our wedding and quarantined ourselves and our guests. We even ordered room service and had them leave the food outside of the door to make sure others were safe. One week later the Umstead charged us for all the food for the wedding including charging for not just the ingredients but the cooked food. They also charged us for the wedding cake and my bouquets. We never saw any of these things. They didn’t even ask us about the items when we cancelled on the day of. We would have shared all the food and cake with our guests who were quarantined and travelled across the country for our wedding. When we mentioned that they should have told us about these things and that they were going to charge us, they said that they didn’t want to bug us after what happened. That was cop-out they could have told any of our wedding party about it and we would have been able to at least enjoy what we were being charged. They made an already traumatic experience way worse. This place has no heart and is strictly money driven. I do not recommend this hotel especially for your wedding.

C_R_E_A_M Dollar Dollar Bill Yall: I enjoyed the most delayed but relaxing birthday massage ever. Apparently Umstead spa had a renovation that made it impossible to find an open slot to book for my birthday 5/19. I settled for the next available day which took place today and the environment was so comforting. I didn’t get to experience the steam room, but the lounges were nice, the atmosphere, the whirlpool, the co-ed outdoor whirlpool was so nice. The bath & body products available for use while patronizing the establishment smell so good and feel nice on the skin. I booked the coastal massage 80 min with Chengwei, he provided a relaxing massage experience. I’ll have to return at a later date.Unika B. & Co.

Charles gehlken: We stay at this amazing place at least once a year! Beautiful and serene! We always have a wonderful time, and I am struggling with putting 4 stars for service as it is their own standard I am comparing it to. They are normally a level of perfection rarely matched by others. However, this last time was a bit under that standard. We ordered coffee with cream and sugar and got a dirty cup and no spoon. When they did housekeeping after the first night, they took my robe as it was lying on the bed anddidn'tt replace it. Simple easy things that they fixed rapidly, but mistakes we are not used to at this usually impeccable hotel! This, of course, will not discourage us from attending again, if not before, then definitely on our next anniversary!Rooms: Rooms are always clean and well presented. They always try to go the extra mile!Food & drinks: Their bar and lounge are leagues above most within their market. However, Herons restaurant is an absolute must! It is fine dining at its absolute finest! karin golden: I was gifted a massage at Umstead spa for Mother’s Day, and I felt like it was such a bad experience for over $200. When I first booked it my massage was 1:15 until 2:15 and they said I can arrive at 12:15 and stay until 3:15. I’ve been to spas all over the world and I’ve never had an end time so I thought that was strange but I just went with it. When I arrived, they said that my end time is 3 PM not 315. My massage started a few minutes late and the entire time all I was thinking was “how I’m going to shower, get ready, dry my hair by 3 PM.” Not relaxing at ALL. By the time I left the room and took the elevator back down to the locker room. I checked my phone and it was 2:25. Usually, I like to steam after massage but obviously there was no time for that. I got to check out right before 3 PM. But if I hadn’t, would they really come looking for me in the locker room and kick me out? I find this policy so strange. And I told them that and they got very rude about it. 
kuenga kay: This review is long due. The spa itself is impressive, and the ambiance itself is laid back and relaxing. The property is beautiful, and I can see why people choose this place as a wedding venue. We also ate at the restaurant; the service and the food were exceptional. It’s in small portions but every bit as savory. The little complimentary juice they give you tastes so good!!! They have specific hours they remain open, so if you don’t have a reservation, call in and ask beforehand. I would definitely go in when I have more time so I can go around the property and really enjoy what they have to offer.
C S: As my first time experiencing the spa as I have waited a few years due to Covid and then closed for renovations, I was finally able to get an appointment and so excited to visit. I was beyond disappointed. The massage itself was underwhelming, the room was too bright even though I asked the therapist to have the room dark, which they did not accommodate and could not relax. I have received better massages at a generic massage chain then I did today. As this spa is rated in the top 10 spas to visit in NC they should hold therapists to a certain technique standard as an expectation. I will not be returning as the overall experience was not worth the wait or the money.

Brian C: Stayed at the hotel one night as part of a wedding. The wedding itself was great, but the Umstead is a hotel that I would not trust with my luggage.We were part of the wedding party so when we arrived, they told us to tag our luggage and leave it in a pick-up area so it could be taken up to our rooms. However, when we went up to our rooms after the wedding, our luggage wasn't there. We hoped that perhaps they would deliver them later, but they never did. Later that night, we found our luggage by coincidence just sitting in a meeting room completely unattended at almost midnight. Who knows what would have happened to our belongings if we never found it ourselves and they sat there all night? On top of all this one of my bags was missing!When I talked to the management about it, they said they'd look into the situation and get back to me. Weeks go by and no one ever contacts me. I then had to start bugging them to get a response. After over a month of me calling them several times to see if they found my bag, they finally tell me that they can't find it and have no idea why the bellhops delivered the bags to the wrong place, basically shrugging off the whole situation. The manager also told me that they cannot accept responsibility for the missing bag and cannot compensate me since "it was never in their care," despite me voicing that I felt like it was in their care since they were the ones who re-assured me that they would deliver my bags in the first place when I left them in the pick-up area.It is pretty shameful that a 5 star hotel can't even correctly deliver bags to a room. A seemingly simple task to most. And it is shocking the amount of irresponsibility and apathy I experienced from the staff when they misplace your luggage. Do better and please don't treat your future guests like how you've treated me and my friends.
