Crystal Sheffler: After giving this location several tries, I will not be back again. Stylists are not at all professional, complaining about work schedules, work hours, their boss, etc. with each other and not paying any attention to my child. One time, they refused to wash my daughter’s hair because I was a little late (understandable) and they said they didn’t have any time due to the next customer’s appointment. However, after her haircut, the stylist proceeded to go to another station and talk to that stylist and her customer for 15-20 minutes while we waited for the nail station to free up. That would’ve been more than enough time to wash my daughter’s hair. Plus, they made me pay for the wash and style, even though they didn’t do it. Don’t even get me started on the nail station. Just see photos taken as soon as we got outside. The lady was staring off into the distance while painting her nails (my daughter quietly pointed this out to me).

The person take less than 5 minutes literally 2 cuts ✂️ and done it in his own way without following the instructions, I was really upset and is not about the money, I pay $12. Even though Sharkeys is a bit more expensive than getting a simple haircut at other local places for his birthday I was excited to fulfill "his wishes".He was so excited to "be in the fire truck and watch Blippi". This time I was excited that they finally offered to wash his hair (with my girls they do, but usually do not with him).Overall, my little guy for his 4th birthday was thrilled to finish his haircut with a balloon and a lollipop. When paying your money you should be able to get the style you want for your child's hair when they charging 80.00 for a 5 year old getting her natural hair done.

Instead she called me when she was done. I informed her that I went home since her business requires you to “drop off” your child and that it would take me 20 mins to arrive. She hung up in my face. When I arrived to pick up my child and pay, she had a nasty attitude and a rude tone. My daughter also told me that when I wasn’t there she had a bad attitude. Will not be returning. Candice Solis: I should have listened to the negative reviews. The service was booked for one time with an emailed confirmation, but when arrived she had a different confirmation time. After some convincing, she agreed to serve my child. Waited for hours behind others for an appointment. The service fee booked was $91 for extension braids. She charged $160 and said the reasoning was because she washed and conditioned my child’s hair. My child’s hair was washed and conditioned the night before and if we had known the up-charge existed on top of $91 that would have been a strong no for basic braids. This is very disappointing, as these are not even box braids that could last long. Waisted my money and feel duped. Really dissatisfied. I would not recommend at all.Service:Braids
Michael Solis: Do not go to this ladies hair salon. She quoted one price and then charged another. She was to give my daughter braids for $90. We washed and conditioned her hair before going but said that it needed to be done again. She didn't say she was going to charge us $65 for that. What should have been about $95 turned into $160. This lady took me for a ride and I'm beyond upset about it. The worst part, the braids are regular braids and not box braids that will last. Which means I paid $160 for braids that will last, at most, one week. Do not go to this ladies shop. In my opinion, she just wants to lie and steal from you.

luke oliver: So I brought my little one in the other day for a haircut, (after he saw mine, he said he wanted the sides buzzed also, but never happens) well this time it was different, we got in and saw cherese, and I can't praise her enough, she went through all the steps, letting him see, touch and hear the clippers so he could be comfortable, took her time and didn't push, well thanks to her he actually got a very nice fade cut that almost made mommy cry. Plus the little one got to play video games while she was cutting. So once again, huge thank you to cherese for being an awesome stylist and overall great person.

The ladies were so good to my boy and his hair turned out fabulous! Hubby was so impressed that he gave a $15 tip. For those complaining about the price, look you are paying for a whole EXPERIENCE for your kid that makes them ENJOY a haircut! They turned on his favorite show, he got to sit in a firetruck seat, the ladies were fun and playful with him, he got balloons at the end and a lollipop. Take your kid to great clips or where ever and it just wouldn't be the same, so to us it was totally worth the price for our son to enjoy getting his hair done. Ramona D'Amico: We've been using this Sharkey's location for a while since we live ten minutes away. I usually take our four years old son for a haircut every other month. His haircut takes an average of ten minutes. I was always satisfied with the service and I thought that $25 + $5 tip was worth it until today. Unfortunately we arrived fifteen minutes late to our appointment. When we got there, the receptionist and Fatima the hairdresser were sitting down and explained to us that they give eight minutes of waiting per appointment. So, we were too late. I understand, but there were no customers in the salon and the next one will arrive in ten to fifteen minutes which gives plenty of time for my son's haircut. Then, Fatima the hairdresser starts talking in a way that she is ready to do us a favor by taking us since we were so late. She requested that I should leave a good review on their website. It felt that this will be a free haircut and I owe at least a good review. Ten minutes later the haircut looked ok and the next customer arrives. My son was left with hair on his face and pants as Fatima walked away with the new customer. I asked her for a towel so I could clean my son. She handed me the towel and quietly again walked away towards the new customer. I was shocked that $30 later I had to clean my son and there was no "thank you". It felt that these two ladies did a favor to us even though we paid them. I guarantee you that we'll never go back. I have high expectations for a ten minutes service that costs $30. That is not the kind of standards you'll find at this location. Next time we'll try a different location of Sharkey's on Six Forks Road.Service:Haircut

DJ: The manager was trying her best to be professional, however, the haircut was horrible. I had to point out things that needed to be fixed, and it was super choppy and not well blended. They also gave my son a girls “first haircut” certificate because they were out of Boys, but charged us the same. There was an assistant who worked there, younger female with purple highlights. TestE TestH: First off, I want to say that I normally have a great experience here. Today, both of my kids had appointments at the same time. One with Carol and one with Fatima. My child who was with Carol had an amazing experience, which is why I still gave 4 stars but my concern is over my other child's appointment. When I got there Fatima was still with another client. No problem, I get that things happen to make you run behind some, but what I didn't like was that after she finished the girls hair, she proceeded to do her nails and help her pick out a headband to buy, even when she knew we had been waiting almost 30 minutes past our scheduled time. I have a daughter and I know that every time I have gone, Fatima has never done her nails, it has always been one of the ladies there that doesn't do hair, but just manages the day to day needs like answering the phones, cleaning up after appointments and such. I don't understand why in this situation that was not done. It's also not that no one else was there to do it, because the other lady was there and able to assist. She did my daughters nails on this visit as well and let the hair stylist continue on with the next customer. Again - I will still continue to go here, but please keep this in mind that it made me feel like Fatima valued the other customer more than my children and I because she went out of her way to do extra stuff for this other customer that is not normally done by the stylist even though she knew we had been waiting.Service:Haircut

Suganya Gopi: I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding my recent appointment at this place. I arrived with my 2-year-old daughter, hoping to have her hair cut based on a previous photograph that I had brought along. Unfortunately, the entire experience turned out to be a disappointment.From the moment we sat down with the stylist, it was evident that something was amiss. Despite showing her the picture and explaining the desired style, she proceeded to make uneven cuts throughout my daughter's hair. This prolonged for nearly 20 minutes, well beyond what I have experienced in the past for a simple haircut. Naturally, I became increasingly concerned and voiced my dissatisfaction.The stylist responded by admitting she had never attempted such a cut before and abruptly left us stranded. It is incredibly unprofessional for someone to agree to perform a requested style, only to abandon the task halfway through, claiming unfamiliarity. Following this another stylist eventually took over but by that point, my child was already upset and crying. The entire process took more than 35-40 minutes, which is an excessive duration for any 2-year-old to endure. The final result was a messy, uneven, and unfinished haircut, far from what we had anticipated. The staff also failed to apologize for this situation. It is disheartening to encounter such unprofessional behavior and a lack of customer care.Moreover, I was taken aback by the charge of $37 for a simple girls' haircut. Considering the subpar quality of the service provided this pricing seemed unreasonable and unjustifiable.Based on this experience, I can confidently say that I will never be returning to this salon.

I called in advance to get an idea on pricing for partial highlights and a cut and they were friendly and the prices seemed very reasonable, especially compared to other salons I called in Raleigh. I had Kari as my stylist and loved our conversations and she was really efficient and worked quickly. I’m so happy with my coloring and she blended the blonde shades beautifully! I also left with a complimentary gift bag that had samples of shampoo & conditioner, a tumbler, and scalp brush. Overall I actually had a lot of fun talking with all the stylists and receptionist there and am looking for a reason to go back soon😊

Rebecca Smits: The lady today did not say a single word to my son. I do not know her name - I tried looking it up on the online booking platform and couldn’t find it. She was the only person working 6/29 9:15am.The vibe of this place is so bad. Would love some positivity and cheerfulness from someone at a children’s hair place. Not a smile. Not a hi buddy how are you today? Nothing. So cold.When I asked my son if he wanted to go into the car, he said no. He tends to be a bit nervous so I didn’t press him and respected his decision. The woman said, can you just try to put him in the car? I said no, he doesn’t want to. I asked him again and he said, again, no I don’t want to. The women rolled her eyes and proceeded to do the cut in my lap.I asked for a scissor cut and she brought out clippers after initially using scissors. My son tolerated this but he was clearly nervous, as being at the hair place is nerve wracking as it is, then randomly bringing out clippers when he never had had any experience with them would be frightening to any 2 year old.The haircut itself is pretty bad. There is a 1 1/2 inch gap between his ears and hair.And as I have read through these reviews, I anticipate the owner defensively saying well if you didn’t like it why didn’t you say anything to the woman? To that I will reply - the woman did not seem receptive, at all. I was not in a place or mindset to start something negative with this person. She seemed mean.I’m surprised this place has 4.6 stars. She shoved a sign in my wife’s face, after my wife threw a diaper into a near empty trash can she angrily bagged it up and threw it outside, told my wife she wasn’t watching my son correctly while my wife was babysitting my infant nephew and niece while my sister sat with her son for her first haircut, then to call the police because my wife asked her what her deal was.If you are reading this, Tomiah, then please know I will be contacting this business until I speak to someone in charge and make sure they understand how rude you are to people being business to this establishment.The one star on this review goes to the sweet lady who cut my nephews hair.All the blank spots are because of THE ASSISTANT MANAGER.

Allison Maddrey: This place seems really great but One of my issues is I went online beforehand and chose the hairstylist who supposedly had experience working with special needs kids, My kid isn't special needs but I have been having lots of trouble getting him a haircut and he is very hyperactive because he's a 3-year-old and I was really hoping that this hairstylist would be understanding of the situation. But instead she kept telling him and me that I needed him to sit completely still when we were waiting and when it was My son's turn he was insistent on getting his haircut on the fire truck which unfortunately was a hair washing station no one else was in there while I was there and I asked very nicely if we could possibly just cut his hair on the fire truck because he really wanted to and she said no. It just seems odd to me that somebody who supposedly worked the special needs kids didn't understand how much easier it would have been if she had just said yes to that.

I am done with this place anyways - will have to drive 10 minutes further to Sharkey’s but their app SUCKS (lots of glitches when booking) and none of the women there have ever done a good job cutting my kids hair. They seem to hate their jobs and are always moody. Everything was ‘tolerable’ by that I mean; some obvious eye rolls from the stylists were made towards my scared son the first visit and a small cut on his ear was given at another visit as he tended to move a lot when he was younger, but yet the stylist never told me. I didn’t say anything because I understood he wasn’t easy to work on as a 1 year old. He had an appt. today (he’s 2 now) where there was no crying, no moving & the hair cut was soo disappointing. But worse than the customer service was the actual hair cut. I asked that my daughter’s hair stay as long as possible and just to trim it and make sure her bangs weren’t covering her eyes. Less than 5 minutes later (no blow drying and she cut her hair almost dry), My kid ended up with the worst haircut I’ve seen in a long time.
