Charging the extra $7 for short sleeves when it's not an option to do it without the sleeves is very dumb and misleading. Ma Nithya Chandravidyananda: I had 3 skirts made which were no complicated design straight forward. I then asked to have 3 shirts made . The problem: I told him to make only 1 first so if there is any issue only 1 will need to be ALTERED INSTEAD OF 3. I also told him to make it knee length and fitted. He also measured me for this. When I went to pick them up he had 3 shirts made and were not made to the length specified and were also not fitted. I should not have paid him for this work as it was not what I ordered. No offer to repair it, more like a take it and get lost approach. Yes, I paid him like a fool. My advice is that they are not very skilled and not sure how much he understands although he tells you yes. Yes it is convenient but I would go elsewhere especially if there is detailed work , but who knows they may give out to someone else to do . DO NOT USE THIS PLACE FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN SIMPLE WORK. Additonally he told me his payment system does not work and wants only cash payment.

Sydney Wohlrab: Would rate 0 but cannot.Took my wedding dress here to be altered, not much needed to be done only a few things - hemmed, straps taken up, zipper installed. She did not write any of the things I was requesting to be done down - nor my phone number for when my dress would be done. I called multiple times as my wedding date was approaching. One of the calls she said 'it is done.' I immediately went to try the dress on, I had one of my bridesmaids meet me to help me in and out and to confirm it was perfect. I was slightly confused when I put it on and it was too large. The length of the dress was great however nothing else seemed to be done. No zipper installed, straps too big, etc. I was overwhelmed in the moment and told her it was great and paid ($500 +). Moments after leaving I knew I needed to call and speak with her regarding the dress. With my wedding in 9 days I did not have enough time to leave the dress with her for more alterations (my wedding was out of town). She told me 'if no zipper was installed, you were not charged for a zipper.' I said 'then what did I pay $500+ for' she responded 'for all of the other things done.' I simply asked if she could meet me in the middle for a partial refund since I will now have to take my dress elsewhere to get other alterations done. She said 'this is not something we do, i do not know what you want. You took the dress and left, this is your fault.' She was unprofessional and did not request to see me in the dress. When I paid she only accepted venmo or cash.I picked this tailor because of the reviews and do not want others to be tricked into a similar experience.Services:Alterations,General repairs

Benjamin Gurlitz: TL; DR - I would recommend Village Tailor for your suiting needs. You’re getting a fully customizable made-to-measure suit with a fully canvassed jacket. Are these the best suits that money can buy? No. But at the $550.00 price point, these suits are tough to beat.I found out about the Village Tailor custom suit program when I went to get a pair of pants hemmed. I noticed there was a jacket with a price tag on it. I asked Peggy, the owner of Village Tailor, if she was making suits. She said that there was a young man making suits, and gave me the young man’s business card.I reached out to the young man and arranged a meeting. At the meeting, he told me that the suits were made in a factory in China. He took my picture and sent it to the factory. Apparently the picture is entered into an algorithm which is able to create measurements. I ordered two suits.When the suits arrived neither of them fit. The jackets were both too short and the pants were too tight. The young man offered me a refund. When I went to Village Tailor to collect my refund, I mentioned to Peggy that I really would have liked to have suits that fit. Peggy said that she would get in touch with the factory to see if the suits could be remade.A week later, Peggy requested for me to come to Village Tailor to be measured by hand. She measured my legs so the pants could be made correctly. We also measured a couple of my jackets to be sure about the jacket measurements.Two weeks later, the suits arrived and this time they both fit really well. The only alteration was that the pants needed to be taken in at the waist. Other than that everything was perfect.As to quality of the suits, both jackets are fully canvassed. In my opinion, after the fit, the jacket’s construction (fully canvassed, half canvassed, or fused) is the most important aspect because it determines how the jacket will hang.The buttonhole on the lapel also appeared to be hand sewn. To me this makes a big difference because the lapel buttonhole is very noticeable and the fact that it’s hand sewn is a nice detail.Another nice detail is that the lapels are nicely rolled to give a three-dimensional appearance to the jacket. This is also a very noticeable detail and I was pleased that the manufacturer got it right.That being said, there appears to be a lot of machine work. The collar and sleeves look like they were attached by machine. The pick stitching also looks like it was done by machine. The buttonholes, other than the lapel buttonhole, look like they were sewn then cut. This shows in some aspect the manufacturer was emphasizing hastiness at the expense of quality. However, at this price point, the manufacturer was going to have to cut corners at some point in the process.The materials look like they are fine; not the greatest, but also not the worst. The material I picked for both suits was a Super 130’s wool. There is no material tag, so it’s impossible to tell if the suits are 100% wool or if they’re a wool blend. It’s also difficult to tell what the lining is made from. It feels different from Bemberg, and my guess is that it’s some sort of poly-material.To conclude, if you have $550.00 to spend on a suit, I think that Village Tailor is probably the best option. If you were to go Nordstrom, Brooks Brothers, or any other department store with $550.00, you’d end up with a suit that doesn’t fit as well and/or doesn’t look as nice. As such, I would recommend Village Tailor for your suiting needs.
