Gidget Mowat: I have been trying to change my last name for the last 3 years since I got married with duke Progress energy They want a copy of my marriage certificate or divorce certificate to prove my legal name change?. My driver license, ssn, credit card which I use to pay them is under my new (and legal) name. In NC you can't have a driver license with a new last name if your social is under a different last name.They are so rude every time I contact them!
Google Account: DO NOT DO THE "BUDGET BILLING PLAN" IT DOES NOT SAVE YOU MONEY! IT MAKES THEM MONEY. SURE YOU'RE BILLS ARE "SMALLER" (MINE WAS $140), BUT AFTER 6 MONTHS/YEAR END PLAN, THEY HIT YOU WITH A MASSIVE $400 CHARGE OUT OF NO WHERE! MY BILL WAS $600! AGAIN DO NOT DO THE BUDGET BILLING! Smart Choice: Duke Energy technicians were in my area just now. I was driving my car beside their truck off Chapel Drive and Avent Ferry rd. Suddenly a very strong smell and misty powder coming from their truck. I can’t see the road so i opened the window and the smell came inside. My car is all covered by this dust. Was really disappointing. I think they should block the road and put a sign for a safety matter, but they don’t care. Duke Energy, please respect us as people and treat us as a human beings. David Gurney: If I could give zero stars I would! I have been a Duke Power customer for well longer than the 6 years I have lived at my present address and have paid faithfully every month with an equal payment plan called Budget Billing in which my bill was assessed every year and my bill was $97.00 a month. Then all the sudden for the month of November it shot up to over $200+. I called and told them the discrepancy and I was told that my Budget Billing was assessed on the quarterly. I complained and told them that I didnt change it and they said that they didnt either. At this point I just wanted to reset back to the annual plan and they said that I would have to wait until the billing cycle ends which ended in January which was this month. This afternoon I paid my bill and called to switch to the annual plan. I had to wait 30 minutes on hold to get someone to pick up the phone only to tell me that I was never in the Budget Billing plan when I was seeing in front of my face that I was enrolled in the quarterly plan. I went back and forth arguing until I was really getting extremely annoyed and told her to transfer me to her supervisor. "I can't transfer you sir!" I told her that obviously she didnt know what she was doing or I was going to get the corporate office involved and also get the media and a lawyer involved. Then she put me on hold and said that she was going to speak to someone in charge. I waited another 15 minutes on hold (she did check to make sure I hadnt dropped the call every few minutes) to tell me that I would have to wait another three weeks when I was the next billing cycle to end even though I had already paid the bill. I am absolutely irate and tomorrow morning I am going to get a lawyer and contact the news media. I am a disabled US veteran and live alone and Duke Energy is playing games. They think they can get away with piss poor customer service because we are on a captive customer base. They better think again!
Macie DeLuca: HATE this service. I applied for payment installments, was told for a month that I owed $0 and the installment plan was being worked on. Suddenly this month (01/2023) I owe $193? My last bill was $93 and I asked to break up that payment. This is a sad excuse for payment assistance. I have been a faithful, pay-in-full customer for YEARS. I’ve called into the useless 800 number so many times and been told “we’ll make a note of it”. All I’m looking for is help with what I’m guessing is a local transformer around my area. I lose power 8 times out of 10 when it rains/storms and probably once every other month randomly. Something is obviously not right and I’m truly at a loss on who/what/where/anything on getting it fixed. It’s been like this for 2 years. It’s my entire street. Please, someone…anyone help? b stradley: Duke had the meter for my apartment switched with my neighbors. When my neighbor moved out Duke shut off my power during a heat wave. This took hours to resolve and then the next day they shut my power off again. Once this was finally resloved I was told a billing credit or refund that i estimated to be about $500 would take about 3 weeks, but when I followed up over a month later Duke had no record of starting a refund/credit. Once this newly created service ticket was started I made sure to get the Ticket Number. A week later when I followed up again Duke has closed the ticket without telling me, claiming they had conflicting meter numbers associated with my account. Duke had both my apartment and the vacant one next door under my name. Now they say a tech will come out to verify the meter numbers and the refund process will still take another week. The fact that Duke keeps trying to screw me out of my money is criminal. The supervisor I spoke with claims they will contact me once the appointment with a tech is set and again once the refund/credit is processed. The fact that Duke refuses to contact customers about resolved tickets or issues as a general rule is absurd. If this resolution cycle goes nowhere I will contact the State Utilities Commission and a lawyer, I would rather spend money going to court than to let Duke get away without fixing their malicious errors.Follow up 7/22 No technician was sent out and everytime I call to resolve the issue Duke shuts my power off. They have shut my power off twice today.

I told him who I was calling for and was advised that that person no longer worked there. I asked for the name of the replacement person and he refused to give me a name or a number to contact anyone. I then asked for his supervisor and he raised his voice and gave me an email address but refused to tell me who or what position that person held in the company and then hung up on me. I have never been treated so rudely by a sales person in my life.

Nick Eubank: I can't say enough about how great are experience was with Raleigh electric and with Josh Hatley (our tech) in particular! He was on time, professional, and did great work putting in a new circuit for an induction stove (looked great to me, works, and passed inspection on first pass). And at almost 30% less than other other estimate!More importantly, though, he was ALSO incredibly kind and patient with my 5 year old daughter who attached herself to his hip throughout his visit, asking him all sorts of questions about what he was doing, and even following him into the crawlspace 🤣.Great electrician _and_ a great guy. I mentioned another problem with some of our outlets not working (for another visit), and he was so kind and offered to look into the problem. He fixed it - he searched high and low for the GFI switch and found it hidden in the garage. He reset it, but it was so old I decided to have it replaced. He was determined to find the problem, because it affected the lights to my kitchen, and more importantly my radon blower that I had installed under my house. He found the problem within an hour, and I was back up and running. I will do business with them again in the future when I have another issue.

We have an old house and he was not phased by our cellar/crawl space and very old pannel. He diagnosed the cause of our outlets (old, no longer tripping breaker). He cleaned up some wiring in our box and replaced the old (likely 30+ years) breakers for us. We discussed the merrits and potential hazards of a full pannel and decied to stick with the easy and less mess fix for now. Though this might be typical of electric companies so it's not really a con, just more of an FYI.Long story: My husband and I recently purchased our first home and during the inspection our electrical was flagged. Raleigh Electrical company came out and gave a free estimate of what would have to be done which allowed us to ask the seller for those repairs. The electrical system was very outdated and the panel was an old one marked as a fire hazard, so our panel had to be replaced, relocated, as well as we needed an upgrade from 60 amp to 200 amp. They quoted us half the price of another electrical company (whom might I add told me they couldn't go into detail of what they would do since I didn't own the house yet?? very sketch) and when they came to do the walkthrough they were able to explain to me everything they would need to do which made me feel so much more comfortable in working with them already.They were able to schedule us immediately after purchasing our home so the electricity would be working and safe for us prior to moving in, and they were finished in only two days! When a couple outlets didn't work they came back and found that some of the breakers were just off. They were so responsive and Jessie (the main electrician) was so nice and did such a neat and good job moving everything. Giles was the electrician they sent to check the plugs and he was super friendly and nice, he explained to me more about the system and ways I can trouble shoot in the future which I love because I'd rather be taught and informed than always have to ask for help.We enjoyed working with them so much we asked for an additional quote for getting can lights installed in our kitchen. Eric came back out to give the quote and also explained the breakdown of everything and placement for lights. Jeff was the electrician who came to install my lights and he was also very nice and he walked through everything I wanted and placement of lights. He checked with me on the lights the whole way though and Ethan (another electrician) came to help on the second day and fixed some GFC outlets that were being tripped randomly (not their fault something prior). There was a slight misunderstanding about the switches at the end but Eric called to check with me after everything was finished and made sure we were 100% satisfied at the end which I really really appreciated.My husband and I plan to do more light work on our basement in the future and we definitely use them again as well as recommend them to EVERYONE! Seriously cannot go wrong. I feel like we met almost everyone on their team and I can't say anything bad about them really, they're all amazing and so nice. Oh also conversing with Hannah (and one other women I believe) who manage their billing and schedule they were always so so nice and quick to respond or get back to me.I also have two dogs and a cat and was home by myself every time they came. to do work. They were all great with my pets and Giles even helped me catch my cat when she escaped (again we had just moved). I was so panicked and I can't thank him enough. David Zager: Called around midnight with urgent request. Was told the on-call technician would be given message. Followed up at 8am to discover they no longer service residential -- at least not in Raleigh -- but this doesn't really explain 1) why representative who answered the phone didn't know this fact and 2) why I had to follow up to discover why my request hadn't moved in 8 hours.It's totally fair if you no longer service residential, on-call representatives should know this.
Barbara Nagel: On Monday 4/25/16 at 9pm, my electric box had a melt down, and I had no electricity. I was referred to Starr Electric, and I am thankful that I was. They actually answered the phone at 9pm and gave me my options. The next morning, they were at my house for an estimate, and gave me a very fair price, so I hired them on the spot! By 1:00pm, the supervisor arrived at my house with the new box and fuses, and started to work, HIMSELF!!! A little time later the electrician arrived and they worked together until 4pm. In the mean time, they had also notified the inspector of Garner and he arrived shortly after they were finished, and approved the work. Progress Energy was also called to restore energy, and I was back on the grid by 5pm, THAT DAY!!! This is the best customer service...EVER!! Everyone was professional, and knew what they were doing, even the office was professional and courteous!! I will definitely call Starr Electric will all of my electrical needs!

The electrician found the problem quickly, went and got the necessary part and installed it, and I have not had a problem since. He was friendly and courteous, and also gave me tips on choosing a filter. I am very pleased with the service!

A Z: We had a disconnect on our HVAC system melt when the weather was 8 degrees outside. Our home service company sent them a work request and I called within 5 minutes of it going through. I was told that the next available time they could get the service disconnect replaced (which is less than a 1 hour job) was 6 days away. So I explained politely that 6 days without heat with a 4 and 6 year old at home was too long, did they have anything sooner? They responded "no" but you could find someone else. Overall, the operator was nice but with no flexibility or empathy towards this situation I would give the overall experience a 1 star.

After all of the time scheduling and being available and the money we paid them they still have not fixed our heat. It is the middle of January 50degrees inside.I called and spoke to the manager Robert who could not care less that we had no heat after his "professionals" had failed to even diagnose the problem with our unit after two visits.Having paid for something to get fixed that was not fixed was bad enough, but to add to it Robert was delighted to insist that they would not be coming back out and that as a member of their local community they really had no interest in getting our service repaired or even attempting to resolve the time and money we wasted on their "service".Wow, that moment you realize that the company on the other end of the line would rather let you freeze all winter long than do the job they came out to do.
Adam Orentlicher: Used Starr Service Company for my HVAC repair in October/November, 2011. Had no heat on one floor of my home. Called them on a Friday, soonest appt was the following Wednesday. On Wednesday the tech came, diagnosed the failure, and ordered the parts. In stock the next day, but Starr stated the next available oppty to install the parts was the following Wednesday. Tech showed up the following Wednesday - 4 hours late - didn't have one of the parts, and unable to get the parts as it was 5PM. Stated he'd come back Thursday with the parts. Didn't show up. Told me he was swamped, would come Friday. Didn't make it on Friday either. Finally showed up Saturday and did the install. Over two weeks from start to finish. Poor communication. Poor scheduling. Do not recommend, choose a more reputable company.

*The Fuller Family*: Went here for a three day course on Siemens PLC Programming using TIA Portal. The instructor, Mike Milton, was most helpful and patient throughout the entire training. He answered all my questions with informed and accurate information, proving his expertise in Siemens products. I highly recommend anyone seeking this kind of specific training to take this course! I hope I will get the opportunity to further my knowledge and possibly take another course offered by State Electric in the future!
