She has provided forensic consultation services to legal professionals and law enforcement agencies throughout North Carolina. She has served as an expert witness in district, superior and federal cases as well as in civil and university matters. She has been an invited speaker on topics related to juvenile delinquency, “Raise the Age” legislation, and Miranda Rights.

Dr. Cottle currently serves on the North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services Board (NCPLS). She was nominated to serve on the Raleigh Police Advisory Board (RPAB) by the Mayor in May of 2021 and was approved by City Council in June of 2021.
