borly nonely: After researching companies locally and out of state. Nc solar now was the right one. The salesman Wade was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. If Wade didn’t know the answer to a question, he got back to me quickly with the answer. Solar power isn’t cheap, but they have options to make it possible to purchase. They were on the ball with installation, they set up with safety in mind and cleaned up work site when done. Recommend going with a system that will run household. It’s worth it when the grid goes down and life goes on in your house while neighbors were in the dark. Notice a drop in electricity bill with in two months, this month bill will be 15.50. The system I purchased has 43 panels and two Tesla batteries.
Billy Willis: We chose NC Solar Now to do our solar installation because they were referred by a friend. They were wonderfully professional as we went through a couple of design cycles to get what we wanted. While there were a few unanticipated complications with the install, these were handled quickly and professionally and within the noted price. The system is performing wonderfully as designed. Matt R: First off, I don't write more than a couple of words in any review I have ever done and that is only about 5 . Here is my story.We have a fairly small house (1450 sq ft) in Bolivia NC. Go ahead and look up where it is :) For sure it lives up to its name. We decided that as we got into retirement that solar would be a good fit for us because we could control our energy costs more effectively for the future. So, we set out in finding a company to install a small solar array on our home. We found NC Solar online, and they were very nice and seemed eager to work with us. Still, I needed to get more than one quote, so I reached out to our local power company and spoke to the person who led the solar initiative for them. He gave me some great advice as to how many KW we should install and gave me the company he recommended he would use.While the other company was pleasant, they were nowhere near as forthcoming as NC Solar with regards to my options and flexibility. When it came to pricing it was not even close. NC Solar came in SICNIFICANTLY lower than the other quote we were given (almost 1/2)Keep in mind the other company was only 30 miles away while NC Solar had to travel 150 miles to install.NC Solar handled everything and kept us posted every step of the way. On the day of install there were 6 young men who were very polite and respectful and took great care to make sure the job was done right. The lead installer even asked me how I would like the line to come into my house (either surface mount or in the wall which would require cutting the sheet rock, I chose in the wall) to make sure I would be happy with the aesthetics.They were in and out in about 6 hours driving all the way back to Raleigh.I can't say enough about how good a choice NC solar was for my wife and me. Now after 9 months my bill is less than 1/2 what it was before and usually it's the minimum line charge you cannot avoid.If you want solar go with NC Solar you will not regret it
Monty O'Brien: Three cheers for solar and five stars for NC Solar Now!! I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience with the professionals at NCSN. They were wonderful from the beginning of my solar journey, through the install, and to this day. They were always available to answer questions and concerns. Including my concerns about the installation of the panels onto my fairly new metal roof.The actual install went smoothly and much quicker than I expected. I also had a Tesla battery installed so I am able to save the power I make when the sun is shining.. But, the most exciting outcome is my electric bill!! My kWh used in April of 2022 were 651 and for March of 2022 I used 463 kWh. For those two months in 2023 I used zero kWh. My bill was $16.62 for each month, so basically the fee to Duke Energy for meter rental. I am very pleased with my investment and would recommend NC Solar Now to anyone considering investing in solar for their home.

Linda Yang: We compared multiple companies and options in the Raleigh area and landed on NC Solar Now for not only the quality and value of the options offered, but also for their professionalism, patience, and responsiveness in the sales process. And we are happy to report that that same professionalism and responsiveness carried through the entire process from sales to install to activation. It was so seamless we'd definitely make the same decision. The biggest bonus for us was that they also handled all of the paperwork and coordination for HOA, permitting, and communication with our energy provider. They also did a great job at estimating our energy needs - our panels are producing exceptionally well - we haven't had to pay anything additional to our energy provider other than our connection fee.

michael gwynn: Couldn't have asked for a more personable and professional design, planning and build than I got from Randy and Maddie at SEM. There are a few other reputable solar builders in the Raleigh/Cary area but my research led me back to them each time.I've gotta say that Randy's suggestion of using Mosaic/Truist Bank for that solar loan sealed the deal, because I'd never seen anything like that before.Hard-working team of installers on my roof, and another great team of programmers on the ground got me up and running the very day the Town of Apex signed off on their work!And the ToA is happy that I'm selling my excess solar power back to them for less than they have to pay to buy it and distribute it from Duke Energy.And...thank you Bob, for gathering this A-team to get me up and going so quickly!Next year, they'll be back to install a bi-directional EV charger after they're UL approved, which will allow my car to charge, store and return power back to the grid during outages, and overnight, tooBtw, my neighbors love that my solar panels instantly added $32k to the value of their homes, too! They all like me now!It's just easy math... Free stuff from the sun that other folks need, too. And I make money on that every sunny day of every month!

Patrick Goodmon: Southern Energy Management has taken over the servicing of our Generac Solar System after Power Home Solar has gone under. Power Home was a complete joke and frankly Generac was looking a bit shabby. However, I feel much more comfortable now that Southern Energy is involved. They emailed us that they needed to come out and do a check of some things with the system and asked for pictures and access information. I sent pictures and an email and I was amazed to get an actual human response thanking me. They set up a time and to our amazement they were right on time. My wife met the two nice young men and they checked everything out and let my wife know we were all good.Interestingly at the time the guys came I was in the process of buying more batteries for our system from a third party that had used batteries for sale. To make a long story short, due to my poor research the batteries I bought were not the right ones for my system. I called Southern Energy to see if we could come up with a solution. Their Customer Service guy Sam was amazing! Not only did he give me many options on how they could help me make use of the batteries and assured me that I could hire their techs to do the upgrades, but he is putting me in touch with a customer that needs these specific batteries so I may be able to help myself get a buyer for the batteries, but he is helping that client get access to batteries that are no longer made! Outstanding service and care, helping my family deal with a possibly large financial setback. They have my solar business from now on!

I appreciated each person with whom we interacted, and their overall approach.After initial inquiry, a Residential Energy Specialist (Randy) prepares a detailed proposal based on solar modeling and current home energy usage. There’s no pressure for unnecessary items (additional panels beyond what we needed for net metering, batteries we weren’t yet ready for.) The communication was clear all along the way, from our project manager (Sarah) coordinating everything and providing regular updates. The on-site technical assessment provided additional details, and the install crew was professional, and flexible in working around weather curveballs.Our project was finished ahead of schedule. We are 100% satisfied. (And with the 30% tax liability refund, we should probably say 130% satisfied!)Definitely would recommend. They provide exactly what they say they will, and do it well.

Justin Gibson: SEM Is a great company to work with. They handled everything - design, admin w/ the power company (Duke), helping to sign me up for the Duke rebate, great customer service after the install. The installers were very polite and professional. I left them to work at the house without me there multiple times. The panels look great and most folks don't even see them b/c they are black on black and blend in with the roof. The system was designed to supply 96% of my power needs. At this point it appears to be covering 100%+. The panels were turned on on the 10th of June and my power bill for the whole month was only $33 (with half that being admin fees). I'm expecting July's to be even less. Don't work with one of those companies that comes knocking on your door, use a respected company that's been working in NC for a long time!
Chris McLaughlin: Very pleased with our solar system installed by Southern Energy Management (SEM)! I requested quotes from three companies, and while it seemed a little "wild west" with the other companies, SEM was straight-forward, methodical, and low-pressure. They also ended up being the most cost-effective. The installers and electrician were great, and the project manager handled all of the permitting and inspections. We're getting the output we expected, and it's a lot of fun watching the sun power our home and push the extra electricity to the grid!
Lynn Holbein: We've had a great experience with Southern Energy! Since our solar panels were installed six months ago, our utility bill has fallen from over $200 in April 2021 to $55 to April 2022. Rob Williams did a great job educating us about solar energy, and answering every question we had. I'm thrilled to be combating climate change, while my husband loves watching the Solar Edge app and watching our bills go down. You'll save more and more as energy prices climb. Our advice is -- do it now!
Johnny James: Great company, great people and a great job. I've waited a year to write this review as I wanted to have time to see how everything worked out. First, I can't say enough about all the great people that I worked with for our job. They used our last years worth of Duke Energy bills to come up with a plan for what we needed. I also asked to get one with slightly more panels based on changing life styles at our house, but we ended up going with their recommendation once I fully understood how their system works and more importantly interacts with my electricity provider (Duke). They didn't oversell us, they gave us just what we needed. Upon settling on what we wanted, SEM was always behind the scenes taking care of all the paperwork, permits, etc... We had very little to do. The dates were settled on and out came the crew. Good crew, no messes, communicative from the start until the planned finish even considering some bad weather at the time. Since the install we've had zero problems with the system. Our monthly bills with Duke are around $20 a month. About $7 of that is for a streetlamp on our property and the rest is the equivalent of a monthly service charge. We did have one month around Christmas when we had a lot of overcast weather for the month, we were all home for the holidays and training a new dog to use a doggie door. We paid about $120 for that particular month. I've recommended SEM to several friends. Call them before taking the plunge with anyone else. You'll be glad you did. Solar is wonderful.

So far, 2 weeks in, system is performing as promised... thinking of changing my Linked-in profile to "independent power producer".Installation was a breeze. SEM's personnel were competent, efficient and personable. Everything was completed on schedule in spite of some inclement weather conditions. Our Project Manager, Maddie, kept us informed every step of the way.SEM may not be the cheapest solar dealer but they've provided a quality product and positive experience from initial survey through install.
Elizabeth Conroy: Like many folks during the pandemics we have looked to improve our home. Our best move has been going solar. We lucked out finding a totally professional vendor to guide us through the process. From the system installers to our project manager, everyone did what they said, when they said. So now we have our own Solar System automatically generating electricity we use and selling the extra to Duke Energy. Dave Edsall: Extremely dissatisfied with service from this business. I had been relying on them for 2 months to install an electrical system. They called 2 days early and I had to rush out to meet them at the site. They looked around, and then told me the total would be more than my quote. After a few minutes there was a knock on my door and the tech told me they would no longer be able to complete the job and they left. I was left high and dry after relying on this company for 2 months. All of the information they needed to know the job wasn't for them was sent to them weeks prior to the install date. Instead of taking their time to do a quality install they walked from the job and left me in a lurch. What a waste of time!
William Webb: The electrician I spoke with was nice, but the prices I was quoted were almost twice what another local electrician quoted me. I realize there was to be a premium for the longer distance, but that was way too much for an extra 15 miles. Can't recommend.

(except for the fixed $16 interconnection cost, thanks Duke 🙄)Emerald energy had the best quotes of the 3 installers I talked to and included warranties on the inverter, panels and work. They were also the only ones to come out in person to look at my roof and optimize the setup based on my property's unique characteristics and my preferences for offset. High quality and good price.

I spoke with Justin and had a great conversation with him about what we needed (and what I wanted). He provided a lot of good information with no pressure at all at any time!After I did some more research, I called Justin back and told him that we would like to add the Franklin Whole Home System to our existing 9kW solar array.Even though we are 1.5 hours away from their business, Justin came out to do a site survey and determine the best location for the installation. It was too late to schedule the installation before the end of the year but they were here, on site the very first week of the new year!The installation crew arrived early and were very thorough, doing a quality job at each step! They also did not seem mind the meriad of questions that I threw at them while they worked.They worked non-stop from the moment they arrived 'till they cleaned everything up and left late in the afternoon.Justin came back the next day to finish the connection, do the confirmation, and show me how it all worked.In all aspects it was a very good experience - from the first call to the job completion. Without hesitation, I would recommend them to anyone needing solar!

Michael Minga: Powerhome Solar installed our 7,000 watt Generac system. The system failed within a year due to SnapRS failures. Powerhome (aka Pink Energy) refused to honor the warranty work to fix it. I contacted Emerald Energy. John Leonard was very responsive, polite, professional, thorough, and patient. They agreed to come out and make necessary repairs. The service techs came out, were very professional, polite, tolerant of my dozens of questions, and restored my system to full operation. We felt good about the process, the installation, and the results! Our system has been operational about a month but so far excellent production. I really appreciated the availability of Justin to answer questions and I feel he was very thorough and careful in giving us the estimate. Overall, this is a small business with real people who know what they are doing. I would recommend them with no hesitation.

Thomas Clark and John Leonard were responsive to every one of my questions and provided valuable advice on the timing of the installation in order to qualify for the Duke Energy 2022 winter rebate application.The construction team was respectful, kept a clean work site and was very neat and thorough in their installation.I would highly recommend Emerald Energy to anyone interested in solar. I’ve had friends who have used another company and 6 months later their system is still not operational. There are some bad companies out there, but Emerald Energy is not one of them.
Chris Faust: Emerald Energy installed my Solar system in December of 2020. John had come to talk with me, and we worked on the system that would fit onto my roof. He kept me updated as far as the installation date and the progress of the permits with the county. They did all the paper work to get the system approved. They also coordinated with my Electric company. The men who did the installation were courteous and very neat as far as keeping my property looking good. Now that we are having mostly sunny days, I am seeing the system paying off in reduced electric charges! I was very happy with the job Emerald Energy and John Leonard did for me.Jan. 2022. I am adding a little more information here. I now have had my solar system from Emerald Energy for a year. I have been very happy with the results. In 2021, I paid the minimum to my electric company since my system generated enough power to cover most of my needs for probably 9 of the 12 months. In August I even received a check from my power company paying me back for the excess energy created over the entire year. That was a nice surprise!Chris
Brian Rerecich: After having 2 other big name companies come out and discuss various solar panel system options, I called upon my local neighbors to help me out. You see, I couldn't get some straight answers about the cost of financing the system versus not financing it, as well as some of the other 'costs' they were showing. It was a high pressure scenario and I will not be pressured.After hearing back from a neighbor, they suggested Emerald Energy, so I gave them a call and they quickly came out and we discussed the other systems that I had been quoted. Emerald Energy's estimate of savings was the least aggressive and I appreciated that because it fell more in line with what I was expecting from my own research.Being an engineer myself, I tried not to be bothersome with too many questions, but the team at Emerald was always very happy to answer any question I had, regardless of how many I asked. :).On the technical and pricing side, they quoted a great looking all black panel with black borders to make my HOA happy. I got the plans Emerald provided approved quite quickly (at least by my own standards when dealing with an HOA). Emerald had the most competitive price to go along with what I thought was a superior, more realistic system than the others.We've had the system turned on since Nov, so we are only now beginning to see just how much our electricity bill will be offset. So far, I am pleased and based on data I see from other neighbors' data, it will continue to keep me happy.Even after the install was done, I still had a few more questions regarding the Duke Energy rebate and energy monitoring and they were always quick to respond and very helpful. Gary Williamson: Emerald Energy was very easy to work with; Justin and John were both knowledgeable and cooperative. The project changed from a single Sol-Ark 12K to a pair of them. This with 28 REC Alpha panels and 4 Fortress e-Flex 5.4kWh batteries was the final project. John worked through supply chain problems to procure all needed parts, even scouring just about all sources to obtain battery lugs.Brandon and Dave wired the system with attention to detail. I am very pleased with how the project turned out.

Where the other companies seemed to need to do the sales portion in person, wasting an hour of my time, Brett did everything virtually on my schedule. He was extremely thorough and not at all pushy. Just laid out all the facts. It's what got us to go with 8M. The installation and permitting process was very smooth and was completed either early or on-time. Any follow up was also prompt. Our enphase gateway was faulty, meaning we couldn't get real time data (although the system was working and generating electricity). They immediately got a new gateway and promptly installed it. One month in, our system is working flawlessly and generating more power than we were intlitially quoted (32 kWh yesterday). I wholeheartedly recommend 8M. The whole team is fantastic.

That will save you a lot of time (I learned that the hard way).Completed work: Arrived and completed as promised. There were some minor issues with incorrect measurement, as a result of which the panels on the roof are not perfectly aligned. Some connectivity issues were fixed promptly. The SolarEdge app was not working as promised for the first two years, but with enough perseverance, I think all the issues have been resolved.Overall: I recommend this company.

The company offered a wide range of different products to choose from and their quoted prices were very competitive in today's market. They efficiently handled all paperwork with utility company, HOA, city's inspectors and helped answer all questions we might have. The solar design looked fantasic and very accurate, giving us a clear expectation of what our roof would look like after the installation. I highly recommend 8M Solar. Wish the company would continue to assist more homeowners in NC with solar installation for more years to come.
