The StateView Hotel, Autograph Collection: what do users think?
Dorian Rachubinski: This was a beautiful hotel located right on campus. Lots of frogs around make for a cool night atmosphereRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
A RAS: -Be careful about bugs, there were lots of strange bugs in my room when I complained they send a guy with spray to kill them , no action to identify the infestation cause and fix it-The breakfast service is so bad, the lady that works there definitely hate her job, she is disrespectful and it takes forever to do anything.DO NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL !!!!!Rooms: Bug infestedFood & drinks: Tribale services
Brenda Morataya: It's pretty and the people are *very nice*However, the beds are about as comfortable as the floor and it was disappointing to not have room service from the restaurant downstairs.
Kamisha B: I just left this hotel today and I already miss it!! Beautiful layout. Beautiful room. Loved the shower. Pressure and temperature was great. The restaurant Flask & Beaker was amazing…dinner service that is!! Jayona was thee absolute best & she made our stay awesome! If this review makes it to her…please tell Jayona her “Jersey Girls” already miss her!
John M. Conroy: On the Centennial NC State campus with some rooms having a partial lake view, this hotel is a convenient and scenic place for visiting the campus.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
xpat: Great hotel over all. The only thing would be to offer guess a complimentary ice water and tea in the lobby. Coffee is the only available option.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 5/5 …More
K H Bartoszek: Beautiful hotel. Staff was warm and welcoming. Room was very comfortable. Really enjoyed my stay.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet …More
Pablo del Aguila: El precio-oferta no es proporcional. Esta cerca de la universidad, lo cual es una ventaja para algunos.
Lois Petersen: Beautiful, newer hotel located on the campus of NC State University. I had room 401, a spacious corner room with huge windows overlooking landscaping on one side & the city on the other. Everything is clean and well stocked. Outdoor heated pool, workout room & restaurant with bar. Some rooms overlook Lake Raleigh. What really stands out about State View is the service. It has been quite a while since I was greeted with such sincere welcome and hospitality at a hotel. Staff are very professional and accommodating. I have no complaints at all and highly recommend.
George Yorgakaros: Lovely hotel and where my partner and I stay every time we're in Raleigh. The rooms are clean and the hotel is nice - but where StateView really makes the difference is with service. Every person I've ever met at the front desk has greeted me with a smile and has been extraordinarily helpful. At the bar, Mimi went above and beyond even after they had closed to grab me an iced tea - a simple request, sure, but one that definitely put her out, given they had already closed. The fitness room is well-equipped and never crowded and the pool is comfortable and has plenty of outdoor seating above and around it.
Rene Bystron: As an Ambassador Elite member at Marriott, I've stayed at many of their properties. Unfortunately, Stateview Hotel is not one I can recommend. The hotel's physical aspects are decent. The rooms are okay and the dining staff is friendly. However, the management's lack of customer service and efficiency taints the overall experience.I ran into a problem when I asked for a simple request: to include both guests' names on the folio. I was assured by the receptionist this would be done. It wasn't.Despite my follow-up emails, I received only generic responses from a manager named Nakyla Barnes. They were quick to apologize, but my request was ignored. It's been three weeks now, and I'm still waiting for that folio. It's clear there's an issue with the mid-level management at this hotel. Their indifference towards customers' needs is shocking. If Stateview wants to improve, they must address this.In conclusion, Stateview Hotel is a letdown. If you're a Marriott member, I suggest you consider other properties.
Monica Tornros Jakobsson: We stayed at the Stateview hotel for 3 nights, and we wished we hadn't booked so many nights. Front desk staff was not friendly at all. Breakfast was so so. Rooms were way too dark. Bed did not suit me, it was so hard. My back was so stiff and I ended up sitting in the futon for the most of the night. There was of course some positive things too. Pool area is really nice. Location is great.
Brandi Myers: Very nice hotel and venue on the campus of NC State University! I will definitely be recommending this hotel to my clients!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More

Frankie: We were attending my wife's annual Family reunion. This year it took place in Raleigh N. C. This was the hotel that was picked for the weekend family reunion . All inside festivities and the family dinner . My wife enjoyed the hotel and the surrounding area so much we extended our stay for an extra (3) days. The service is outstanding starting with the Manger Cory .Rooms: Our room was very comfortable, clean and had great lighting.Nearby activities: There are many great shops that you can walk to and shop or window shopSafety: It was a very safe area we did lots of walking around and sometimes into the late evening and the streets had plenty of lights and people walking biking and running.Walkability: This was one of the best parts of this area. You could just walk out of the hotel and everything was in walking distance .No car is neededFood & drinks: There are plenty of places to eat. There are places for great three course dinners and places for a quick bite.
David Dobbs: Beds were uncomfortable worn down too soft. The shower was awesome, very powerful. A/C was a bit noisy. Nice clean hotel. Great view of Raleigh skyline.Easy walk to nearby restaurants.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view …More
swathi nakka: The service was very bad. No body lotion in the bathroom and have to call for that . I was asked to come down and pick it up. No house keeping for two days and the reason was they are short on their staff. They didn't even tell me thus at the time of checking in. I found a paper that had that information slipped under the door when I woke up. The water from the toilet tank was leaking and the entire bathroom was flooded. When called for the service, the answer was they have one engineer who is working onsite and he is busy, will come and attend on priority bases. I was in the toilet the next day getting ready for the shower snd someone knocked the door, even before I responded he just uncloed my door from outside a d was about to come in, I quickly dressed up and it was the engineer who was impatient and wanted to get his job done . So he can actually get into the room without my permission. Even the cheapest motel will not have this kind of pair service. This place is just overrated and a rip off.
Fredrick Powell: Rooms: Rooms are clean and spacious. Large TV with somewhat outdated streaming software (limited to Netflix and Showtime). Very comfortable bed.Walkability: Right in the middle of North Hills shopping area, you can walk to a dozen restaurants, a movie theater, and a Target.
Will Walker: Very nice hotel at North Hills. Easy walking access to several good restaurants.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet …More

robert ames: Good location, clean room and very comfortable beds.Staff was very friendly and helpful.
D Gillespie: Nearby activities: Restaurants, shopping awesome 8 minutes walk longest to fine dining.Shoppinh, just steps from exit.Walkability: Wonderful
William Hawkins: For the price you pay to stay here, this doesn't offer a good value. The beds had a heavy comforter and a sheet, but I'd prefer to sleep under a lighter blanket. The pillows flattened and I needed three. It wasn't the most comfortable, and I think a $100 room at a chain would have been better.I had to pay $10 for basic wi-fi access. Also, breakfast is an additional cost that is overpriced for what you get.It is close to a good number of restaurants at least.
Fay Fletcher: This hotel was perfect for my weekend getaway! The decor and pleasant employees were a plus. The location is top tier, with all the stores & restaurants that are within walking distance. I highly recommend staying here if your looking to park the car and walk to all the hit spots nearby. 💎
Mike Hill: Great Hotel with food and shops all within walking distance!!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
S S: DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.They canceled my reservation when I arrived saying they were overbooked. What hotel does this? It's like flying now?Never again.
Clarice Ward: I am local to the area so I was very excited to stay at the hotel; North Hills is a top tier location and there is much 'hype' about the hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, but they seemed a bit frazzled. I was also only provided verbal suggestions on where to park and how to access the hotel from the parking garage, a printed map would've been helpful. The room was...disgusting. There are stains on the carpet yellow stains on the pillowcases but, the bathroom was the worst - there was a huge toenail on the floor, hair on the toilet seat, in the shower, and on the floor. The bath mats were also dingy. The housekeeping manager was overflowing with excuses and the housekeeping staff looked disheveled. Cleanliness is a major issue at the hotel, but apparently Marriott management is oblivious. This is NOT what I expected from the hotel. It claims to be a 4 star hotel but it showed more like a 3 star. The stay was definitely not worth the price tag.Based on my recent experience, I'd advise to skip the hotel and enjoy the wonderful dining at the surrounding restaurants instead, lodge somewhere else.
John Schmeling: Beautiful hotel. Lots of good shopping and delucious restaurants nearby.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Quiet …More

The Umstead Hotel and Spa: what do users think?
Carolina C. Alford: High tea for birthday. Phenomenal tea, sandwiches, scones, dessert. What a lovely art gallery 😍Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Brian Joseph: First, let me start by saying I really like this place... The staff is top notch, and the service was impeccable. The grounds and rooms, as well as the amenities, are meticulously maintained. The food was awesome! Everything we tried was simply devine, and though everything on the various menus were pricey, it was all worth it due to the service and quality alone. The spa was truly relaxing, and the masseuses there and the support staff were great. That said, the ONLY thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars was the fact the road noise from I-40 was just horrible and non-stop due to it is literally right behind it, which made being on the lakeview balcony almost impossible, and enjoying the outside amenties relatively noisy. But again, everything else was really good, the concierge and the front office were awesome and we truly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely come back (I will just be inside more).
TravelinGamer: —Update 7/7/2023, regarding serviceThe new hostess for the bar lounge area is rude and unprofessional.İ have been a customer for more than 5 years and always had a good experience with service but this new hostess (short blonde) is absolutely does not belong in this establishment. Terrible attitude, unprofessional and rude rude rude. İ hope the management will make same adjustments with regard to human resources representing this fine establishment.—This is a true gem. Hidden in Cary, NC. Consistent sophistication and elegance. A true 5 star experience.
Annie Thompson: Our families recommended the Umstead as the top place to have your wedding…so we booked our wedding there. On the day of the wedding someone in our wedding party tested positive for Covid. We decided to cancel our wedding and quarantined ourselves and our guests. We even ordered room service and had them leave the food outside of the door to make sure others were safe. One week later the Umstead charged us for all the food for the wedding including charging for not just the ingredients but the cooked food. They also charged us for the wedding cake and my bouquets. We never saw any of these things. They didn’t even ask us about the items when we cancelled on the day of. We would have shared all the food and cake with our guests who were quarantined and travelled across the country for our wedding. When we mentioned that they should have told us about these things and that they were going to charge us, they said that they didn’t want to bug us after what happened. That was cop-out they could have told any of our wedding party about it and we would have been able to at least enjoy what we were being charged. They made an already traumatic experience way worse. This place has no heart and is strictly money driven. I do not recommend this hotel especially for your wedding.
Jacob Yackenovich: Continues to be an absolute remarkable experience. The staff are pleasant and very attentive to guests and detail. Rooms are well appointed. Highly recommend the spa level suites, ground floor, high ceiling, patio seating outside.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Romantic, Quiet …More
C_R_E_A_M Dollar Dollar Bill Yall: I enjoyed the most delayed but relaxing birthday massage ever. Apparently Umstead spa had a renovation that made it impossible to find an open slot to book for my birthday 5/19. I settled for the next available day which took place today and the environment was so comforting. I didn’t get to experience the steam room, but the lounges were nice, the atmosphere, the whirlpool, the co-ed outdoor whirlpool was so nice. The bath & body products available for use while patronizing the establishment smell so good and feel nice on the skin. I booked the coastal massage 80 min with Chengwei, he provided a relaxing massage experience. I’ll have to return at a later date.Unika B. & Co.
Leigh Frazier: The Umstead is a beautiful hotel and spa. We spent the 4th of July there and had a great time. The service was impeccable. A special shout out to Hannah who did an amazing job at the pool! The food at Herons was fantastic.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Quiet …More
Charles gehlken: We stay at this amazing place at least once a year! Beautiful and serene! We always have a wonderful time, and I am struggling with putting 4 stars for service as it is their own standard I am comparing it to. They are normally a level of perfection rarely matched by others. However, this last time was a bit under that standard. We ordered coffee with cream and sugar and got a dirty cup and no spoon. When they did housekeeping after the first night, they took my robe as it was lying on the bed anddidn'tt replace it. Simple easy things that they fixed rapidly, but mistakes we are not used to at this usually impeccable hotel! This, of course, will not discourage us from attending again, if not before, then definitely on our next anniversary!Rooms: Rooms are always clean and well presented. They always try to go the extra mile!Food & drinks: Their bar and lounge are leagues above most within their market. However, Herons restaurant is an absolute must! It is fine dining at its absolute finest! From the 7 course art tour that takes you on an optical journey that you can literally taste to a brunch that intices you with dishes such as crab cake eggs Benedict. Please, if you do nothing else, enjoy this little discussed and highly underrated (Forbes 5 star) delicatessen gem!
Noel Haroon: Friendly, helpful staff. We enjoy the trail, the artwork, the restaurant and amenities. Very comfortable.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Quiet …More
Erin Curley: Staff member that handles spa reservations is consistently rude. No semblance of client services or sales.Service: 1/5 …More
karin golden: I was gifted a massage at Umstead spa for Mother’s Day, and I felt like it was such a bad experience for over $200. When I first booked it my massage was 1:15 until 2:15 and they said I can arrive at 12:15 and stay until 3:15. I’ve been to spas all over the world and I’ve never had an end time so I thought that was strange but I just went with it. When I arrived, they said that my end time is 3 PM not 315. My massage started a few minutes late and the entire time all I was thinking was “how I’m going to shower, get ready, dry my hair by 3 PM.” Not relaxing at ALL. By the time I left the room and took the elevator back down to the locker room. I checked my phone and it was 2:25. Usually, I like to steam after massage but obviously there was no time for that. I got to check out right before 3 PM. But if I hadn’t, would they really come looking for me in the locker room and kick me out? I find this policy so strange. And I told them that and they got very rude about it.
kuenga kay: This review is long due. The spa itself is impressive, and the ambiance itself is laid back and relaxing. The property is beautiful, and I can see why people choose this place as a wedding venue. We also ate at the restaurant; the service and the food were exceptional. It’s in small portions but every bit as savory. The little complimentary juice they give you tastes so good!!! They have specific hours they remain open, so if you don’t have a reservation, call in and ask beforehand. I would definitely go in when I have more time so I can go around the property and really enjoy what they have to offer.
C S: As my first time experiencing the spa as I have waited a few years due to Covid and then closed for renovations, I was finally able to get an appointment and so excited to visit. I was beyond disappointed. The massage itself was underwhelming, the room was too bright even though I asked the therapist to have the room dark, which they did not accommodate and could not relax. I have received better massages at a generic massage chain then I did today. As this spa is rated in the top 10 spas to visit in NC they should hold therapists to a certain technique standard as an expectation. I will not be returning as the overall experience was not worth the wait or the money.
Mandi Russell: Great stuff but the price is way to expensiveRooms: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Brian C: Stayed at the hotel one night as part of a wedding. The wedding itself was great, but the Umstead is a hotel that I would not trust with my luggage. We were part of the wedding party so when we arrived, they told us to tag our luggage and leave it in a pick-up area so it could be taken up to our rooms. However, when we went up to our rooms after the wedding, our luggage wasn't there. We hoped that perhaps they would deliver them later, but they never did. Later that night, we found our luggage by coincidence just sitting in a meeting room completely unattended at almost midnight. Who knows what would have happened to our belongings if we never found it ourselves and they sat there all night? On top of all this one of my bags was missing! When I talked to the management about it, they said they'd look into the situation and get back to me. Weeks go by and no one ever contacts me. I then had to start bugging them to get a response. After over a month of me calling them several times to see if they found my bag, they finally tell me that they can't find it and have no idea why the bellhops delivered the bags to the wrong place, basically shrugging off the whole situation. The manager also told me that they cannot accept responsibility for the missing bag and cannot compensate me since "it was never in their care," despite me voicing that I felt like it was in their care since they were the ones who re-assured me that they would deliver my bags in the first place when I left them in the pick-up area.It is pretty shameful that a 5 star hotel can't even correctly deliver bags to a room. A seemingly simple task to most. And it is shocking the amount of irresponsibility and apathy I experienced from the staff when they misplace your luggage. Do better and please don't treat your future guests like how you've treated me and my friends.
Caroline Sherman: Obtaining a reservation at the Umstead Spa is proving to be impossible. The schedule is available only 2 months out and is fully booked. I’ve been told to email daily to determine when the next schedule will be available. Really?Service: 1/5|Location: 4/5 …More

Hannah Todd: Nice hotel with plenty of class and amenities. Friendly staff who are eager to help you. Rooms are spacious and mostly spotless, but if not they encourage you to call them up.Pool was super fun and empty when we used it. My toddler and baby loved the shallow splash zone, and the grownups loved the 4ft section. The front desk said that the fountain in the pool was not working, shame cause it looked really fun too.Lots of low waste green solutions and plenty of soap in the room's mounted dispensers. Nice safty features and handles in the shower as well. Generous towel selection in room and at the pool.Cool outdoor patio for chatting or smoking if desired, and tons of cool meeting rooms and party halls. Very versatile place. Breakfast looks pretty standard for a complementary one, but maybe a bit more upscale and generous variety.Hope this helps others make an informed decision!

The indoor pool was fun and the gym was top notch! The afternoon cookies and all day fresh coffee were amazing and breakfast was hearty and delicious! Definitely worth every penny! All staff were very professional, friendly and helpful! We would absolutely stay here again! ❤️
Ed Starowicz: Chris Cramarossa is the manager of the Hampton. Greatperson who went out of his way to help out. We were there for3 days and on the first day we asked if there was a shuttle tothe Crabtree mall. Chris said yes over the phone and wecame down to the lobby and a person was waiting for us totake us to the mall.We were riding in the shuttle and the person happened to be Chris. He was fantastic giving us insight into the area, the mall, the back way around the 6 lane highway and a host of other good things to know.He even took us right into the parking garage near the restaurant we wanted to go to and made other suggestions. At the beginning of the shuttle ride I did not know he wasthe manager BUT I asked and usually I will tell someone inthe corporate level that they have a great person. WellHilton needs to know that they have a great person in Chris Cramarossa. In addition, the front desk person Ethan and another co worker were very customer oriented also.Room was clean and well maintained. Only one glitch was thesink faucet ran to slow... Otherwise a 10 all the way.All the staff was very responsive and attentive. From the breakfast person to the room attendants.Kudos to the whole team. Shawn Flaherty: I stayed here with my lady for 1 night on 7/3/23 and left 7/4/23. Staff was very nice on7/3. Stayed on a suite on the 9th floor. Floor was very hot. AC did not work. Elevator was hot. Room was good but took a while for AC to get the room comfortable. AC was making noise like it had a hard time keeping up. Hot tub was closed. Never got our hors d'oeuvres that was supposed to be included in the suite. At check out on 7/4 I asked to get 2 sodas for the road which they were gonna charge me over $7 for and were supposed to be included in the price for the suite I had. Was charged $311 for the room and didn't get half of what was promised. I didn't even get charged the AAA rate, even though I had put that info in online. They never asked me for my card. Extremely disappointed with my first 4 star hotel. I had a much better experience at a 3 star.

Gourmand: Overall, the Sheraton is a really great hotel for groups.Rooms are spacious, amenities, such as the pool and gym are nice, and their executive lounge on the ninth and 10th floor is exceptional. If you have Marriott Bonvoy status of Platinum or higher, they have a fantastic executive lounge that provides breakfast in the mornings and excellent hors d’oeuvres in the evenings. The rooms themselves are quite nice, with plenty of space and a large flat screen TV.One of the cons is that parking is a little trickier here. There are very sporadic spots spread all around this hotel.Staff are friendly and helpful.
Ashley Clevenger: The good: Our room was newly remodeled. The location was great for us too.The Bad: Trash in our receptacle still and the floors never got mopped from the last guest. The pool was older and not very well taken care of. Used towels and trash left everywhere.
Greg Kitsinian: Been staying here regularly for over a decade. Staff is fantastic, especially Veronica up in the club lounge.Update 2023 - now over 2 decades here regularly and the remodel looks great for the hotel. Rob Landon: Beautiful hotel. The staff was extremely friendly, and helpful. Only had Breakfast at the hotel restaurant but it was very good. The Sausage Gravy and biscuits was amazing. Putting caramelized onions in the gravy is a great idea!!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great value …More
Veronica Flynn: I hosted my baby shower at The Mayton on 7/1/23 and had such an amazing experience from start to finish. Amber, the Sales and Catering Manager, was incredibly responsive and helpful. She worked so closely with me on so many little details and helped me create an amazing event! My guests loved the food, service, and the Redbud Room where the event was held. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a space to host a shower, luncheon, or small birthday gathering.
Rosi Hanley: Went for lunch with a group. We asked for 7 separate checks and were told this was not possible, it was company policy, one check per party. But then we were told that someone would speak to the manager (or supervisor) and, then, it was suddenly possible to get separate checks. But not 7 separate checks; only 6 separate checks. Why?
T H: Very romantic, picturesque place. The building, the hallways, and grounds are beautiful. The front reeks staff and bartenders were friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 301 which was painted in an unsettling “purple” color ceiling to floor and not my taste but perhaps other rooms have more neutral colors. The furniture and decor were classic and timeless. No bathrobes in the rooms (even suites) or cappuccino available which is odd for a 4-Star stay. There is drip coffee available but we love our cappuccinos and usually have them when paying for four star accommodations.

The location is perfect- my group was able to walk to all the fun local bars and restaurants!! Shout out to Randi who went above and beyond for our group- bringing us coffee and tea after restaurant hours. Thank you for your hospitality!!!

Raviv Shefet: My experience with the reservation of Milton was nothing but disturbing. I was treated rudely and aggressively by Ms. Whitehall. I had a discount code of 20% on standard rate which I booked in person with the total amount of $429, when I spoke to Ms Whithall she told me that the rate for those two days is $490. When I pointed out that the rate I was offered was not a 20% discount from the standard rate as it should have been $392, she began to scream at me and told me she does not have time to deal with me.This service is unacceptable, and I decided to cancel my reservation with the hotel.
