Raleigh Emergency Medcn Association: what do users think?
akorn1033: 100% pure scam
Emily Danchak: TERRIBLE! They “processed my claim” with my insurance company and my insurance company multiple times requested additional information. They proceeded to ignore this request and send this off to collections. I have now had multiple members from my insurance call to request them to put a hold on the collections request as they are the ones who dropped the ball!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AND SEEMS TO BE A TREND BASED ON THE OTHER REVIEWS OUT HERE! Do your job properly and you would have been paid immediately by my insurance company. This is OUTRAGEOUS specially when we were going to the ER in need of help at the time.
Chelsea Ross: I received a bill from a collection agency on behalf of this company after my visit to the UNC Rex ER almost 6 months ago even though I never received any bills from this company.. I'm on a financial assistance program & I paid the copay that I owed at the time of the visit & according to the program, that's all I should have to pay. I have documentation to prove this, which I've had to provide copies of for visits to specialists & it's never been a problem. If I had received a bill, I would have contacted them immediately to provide that & get this straightened out promptly. For about a month now, I've been trying to get in touch with someone to get this resolved. I've tried calling 7 phone numbers I've found that are supposedly associated with this company &/or the collection agency & I've tried using the contact page on the REMA website, but I have not received any response whatsoever. It's incredibly frustrating that my credit score could end up taking a hit just because I went to the ER (which is already stressful enough) & REMA never sent me a bill & just went straight to a collection agency & there's seemingly nothing I can do to get this straightened out. Such a scam...
Dianne: Horrible place to work with. Billing office seems to be outside the U.S., so communication is difficult. They filed my insurance claim using someone else’s subscriber ID, then refused to follow up directly with my insurance company when I told them the claim had never been received. Battled with them over this for a year, while they refused to follow through and turned my account over to collections. Finally, in July of this year, they admitted their error, filed it correctly, and were promptly paid 100% by my insurance company, but they still refuse to fix the problem they’ve caused with my credit report. I’ll use another hospital before I’ll allow one of these doctors treat me again.
Kaitlyn Long: I have worked in healthcare and am currently in school to become a provider myself, so please know that I know what I am saying when I say their billing department is the most incompetent group I have ever dealt with. I was charged three times for the same exact service. I tried calling their billing department: phones were down for several days. I tried using their online chat function: was told to call the phones that don't work. I tried sending them a message: was told to pay the incorrect bill. I even contacted their office itself and was told by the office manager my discrepancy would be sent to their billing department. I never received any contact. I finally got through to a person only to have to walk her through step by step what was wrong and how to see for herself. I called back after finding out about the second incorrect charge to make sure that was also documented on my account. The man "Xavier" kept speaking over me and would not listen to why I was calling again. I was told to "not worry about it" over and over. I don't know who you contract your billing out to, but they need to be fired.
Brittany Tascione: Do Not pay these people! It is a Scam!!! Please call UNC Rex directly to report them!
Abby Chapman: This group of doctors are essentially scam artists. I went to the hospital for a suspected ruptured cyst in February, but the ER was so overrun with COVID patients so I was unable to see any doctors- the nurses just gave me pain meds and sent me to get an ultrasound. I was discharged after speaking to a PA for 5 minutes. Despite this, I was still charged $902.00 for "emergency evaluation services with Dr Gregory Mosteller" who- I want to emphasize this part here- I did NOT see. Even after insurance paid the majority of this charge, I am still left with a bill for a few hundred dollars. And this is on top of what was already a $1000 hospital bill *after insurance*,(just for some morphine and an ultrasound 🙄).I am incredibly privileged to have a good insurance plan, and the fact that I am left paying this much even after insurance genuinely scares me for the uninsured people who see these doctors in an emergency situation beyond their control. Every doctor and PA involved in this group should be ashamed. To anyone who might need emergency care one day(most people), choose your emergency hospital before you need it. And for the love of god, avoid UNC REX and Raleigh Emergency Medicine Associates like the plague.
Yevonne Brannon: This group of Doctors are shameful. When folks do not have insurance, they do not care! They will put their hands out for Federal Cares Act money, but they won't even give uninsured folks the self-pay reduction that UNC-Rex and Wake Med automatically give...they only care only the money.
Mark Rampetsreiter: Beware people!!! This group may be In-Network, but are hiring out of network doctors. When you go to a hospital for emergency care you will fall over when this group tries to squeeze you. Even though the hospital and this group are in network, because the doctors are from other areas of the country, the bill will end up being out of network. The money they are trying to get is 10x what in network cost is. YUP, they show up as In-Network but because of these "fill-in" doctors, you get screwed. BE CAREFUL
Jake Green: It is extremely crowded and you probably won't get a bed for hours. Worst ER experience I have ever had.
Lakisha Pippen: I have been waiting for hours. I came in for chest pains and a severe headache. I have been waiting for over 3 hours. I was stuck on a room. No one has came and checked on me since! This is the worst experience ever!!

WakeMed Raleigh Campus Adult Emergency Room: what do users think?
Greg Taunton: Double billed me for radiology services. Absolutely no breakdown in costs. 14 hours spent in ER, with only 2 hours of actual care provided.
Carolinarn: Great care by nurse and MD
Christa Gala: Great treatment here at the Apex Healthplex! PA Margaret Farland Griffin was fantastic as were all the nurses and techs. Efficient and kind, doing their best to relieve my anxiety during a difficult time.
Delores Late: My care was excellent but the wait time was too much. I don’t think you have control over this but I know there were a lot of migrants that were there for non-emergency situations. I heard several of them get diagnosed with things that an urgent care could have taken care of or a GP. I know these were migrants that don’t have insurance and used the ER for there regular care because they needed interpreters for them. Maybe the ER needs to have a separate area for those that don’t have insurance. I waited 6 hours and that is the longest I’ve ever had to wait. I was having chest pains and heart palpitations and don’t feel I was triaged properly because I sure should have been ahead of someone with a yeast infection.
Joni Mitchell: I would give them less but it will not let me. Very disorganized at the Raleigh wake med. was there for hours and hours always waiting on someone to give results of test. Employees standing around not working. Not happy with the ER department
DLG: If I could rate a zero, I would! This Pathetic excuse for nursing staff who only came in when sought out and the dungeon looking room my 83 year old mother was stuck in and forgotten for at least 12 of the 24 hours she’s been here so far. As we were told she was getting admitted but yet here we are still in this pathetic excuse for a room! My sister that lives with my parents and is in Quarantine because she has Covid also had to call the ER TWICE so that someone would help my mother to use the bed pan!!!! The nurses, I don’t know their names were rude and showed no sort of empathy or concern for her at all!!!!! I mean seriously not to mention that my parents will only go to WakeMed and all the two dozen times or so that they’ve been here we have never encountered this! The floors were very dirty, trash can overflowing all night and still is this morning!!! My mother who just had a heart attack one week ago had a stent put in at this very hospital then ended up with Covid, already had unstable heart rate and oxygen levels, severely dehydrated and sustained two bad falls in two days due to dizziness which is what brought us in yesterday 6/28/23, was left in the room and forgotten! In the two hours it took me to drive here my sister called from home to the ER twice to get my mother help!!! Utterly negligible!
don owen: With the exception of having to wait so long from check in to check out the visit was good.
EE Morgenegg EM: All the emergency room people did a great job.The staff took me in immediately. They worked quickly and were very thorough. I felt completely confident with all the people that attended me. They really put me at ease.My wound is healing nicely and the pain from the wound is gone.I was impressed that they gave medicine to prevent any after effects. My visit was because a neighbor's dog bit me.The staff notified the public health officials. By the time I returned home the public health officials had checked out the dog to see that it was up to date on its shots and had visited my neighbor's home. Thanks for your excellent serviceErnie Morgenegg
Veronica Shackleford: Worst experience ever! 5hrs and still left with the same pain I came in with. Something isn't right. I would not recommend this ER department 😡
Robin Exum Calhoun: I received excellent care. Joel, the PA who set my wrist, was friendly and extremely competent. He was very reassuring and put me at ease. Jeremiah, the nurse was exceptional! He went above and beyond to see to my care and comfort. I can’t thank him enough for how well he took care of me!
Karen Crowl: I came for help with nausea-i was there for 6 hours and did not receive any specific help. terribile expecience
Wallace Earp: Waited in e r for 2 hours and passed out from pain in my back and the only thing they said was you must wait your turn. So we left
Inner M: 4 horas de esperasQ pobre
Debbie Chendanda: The check in process was fast both times but once we were in the triage area we waited over 5 hours from start to release. The wait time is deceptive.
April Wood: Came to the hospital with a friend who arrived by ambulance. 4 hours later we are still waiting for him to be seen. They are not in a hurry here.
Bonnie Elek: This doctor and nurse helped Louis and kept us laughing all the while. The best experience we have had both with the doctor and the nurse. Restored my faith in WakeMed
Essi A: I went there for dental pain, really bad toothache, process was quick, I spent 90mins total not bad for ER visit. The DR came and look in my mouth and suggested that it could be an infection so, they gave me antibiotic and pain med and I was discharged. I was still in so much pain when I left. I could barely talk. Pain med didn't work until 4 hrs later was able to fall asleep.Everything went well, then came the bill, I have an Insurance so they covered about 60% but the problem was, they charged me $379 for Surgical services or materials ( gauze) they didn't give me any gauze for my mouth, I wasn't bleeding, I didn't have my teeth removed, nothing. Dr didn't even spend 5 mins with me.If I didn't look at the details of the bill I wouldn't even know. That's illegal and it's not the first time something like this happened. It's quite common in the medical field. They charge you for service you didn't receive, if you caught then they will refund you, if you don't, then that's it.I'm waiting to hear from them. Will take up to 45 days they said. It took them 3 days from the time I was in the ER to bill me but will take up to 45 days to review the charge. That's the world we live in!!!P.S The service I received was good. Can't complain there. Wished they gave me something to relieve the pain quicker. Everyone was professional and courteous.
Jonathan Miller: I cut my fingers off. Oops. The emergency room staff saved my hand. Chandler was my RN and I'll never forget him as long as I live. He went above and beyond for me. He's the kind of person the word "hero" was created for. Thank you Wake Med Emergency. I'm forever indebted.
Bridget Rackley: Very chaotic. Patients hooked to IVs sitting out in the lobby. No privacy and no staff checking on them. Call out names on the street speaker and ask sick patients to come to the desk, while hooked to IVs. I sat out in the lobby getting IV fluids and the fluids were out for an hour before someone came to unhook them but it took my spouse asking someone about it to get attention. Didn’t seem like a very respectful process. I certainly didn’t feel as though I was treated with dignity at all. Gave me specimen cups and a hat for the toilet to collect specimens in. All of that was in my lap as I sat in the lobby with dozens of other visitors/patients.
Lucy Mcdermott: This review is not even worth 1 star. If I could I would rate this ER as -5. If I wanted to pay for useless expensive care and go die in the waiting area then this would be the right place. THERE WAS NO PRIVACY AND HIPAA WAS BROKEN CONSTANTLY. Why would you draw blood on a patient in the waiting room? A Question I would like answered? Before I was discharged One of your employees took out my IV, instead of doing it the proper way this person pulls the Tegaderm off my arm with the IV NEEDLE ATTACHED :/. This individual clearly didn't know what they were doing. This individual is also telling me I am not bleeding and next thing you know I am bleeding and instead of putting pressure with Gauze as one should, a bandage was only applied to stop the bleeding. In my many years of life this was the WORE ER VISIT I HAVE EVER HAD.
Dorcas Fulton: The worst experience I have ever had at an ER. I have been here for over 8 hours waiting for results just to find out that my results came in 1 hour after they received my samples, per my my chart. Then to have to wait another 3 hours just to get an ultrasound then about her 2 hours to get the results just to find out my results have already been in my chart. Just to have another doctor come to me and tell me that they have to page OB nd get their thoughts. AFTER I TOLD EVERYONE WHEN I GOT HERE THAT I AM HERE FOR A POTENTIAL MISCARRIAGE. I have been here since at the latest 12pm today and am still here! Between being lied to and finding out about your results in your my chart when your doctor is staring you in your face with the results without speaking wondering if you are having a miscarriage I don’t know which is worse. This is the worst ER that I have ever been to! On top of that the nurse that put my IV in to take blood, don’t ask, stick me twice when I have great veins and burst my vein! The worst experience ever and I would NEVER recommend!!!

Wake Emergency Physicians: what do users think?
Emily E: Fraudulent billing practices I am dealing with A YEAR AND A HALF LATER. They just send random, paid bills through collections. Reporting to NC Health Board and my insurance. This needs to STOP.
Diane Kerkhoff: Sent us to collection for a contact write off amount!! Terrible billing. I do medical billing for a living and if my office ever did that we would get fired! Don't pay a bill until you look at your EOB - they just send you a bill and see if it sticks! Somebody will pay something they shouldn't! Poor practices!
Dale Cook: Was in the emergency room at Johnston Health in Clayton, and not only did I get WAY overcharged by them to the tune of $9700 for being there only 2 hours, but while I was in the ER a PA (not even a real doctor) came in to ask me a couple questions (he took about 2 minutes with me) and that's the last I saw of him. Shortly after getting the massive ER bill, I get a bill for $938 for what amounted to a few minutes of a guy asking me a couple questions. After reading the other reviews, it appears $938 is the same amount these guys like to charge everyone for doing absolutely nothing. There should be some sort of law to protect people from this.
Claire Buchwald: Like many people here--would take part in a class action suit--I received a final notice from my hsa provider saying that I needed to show documentation for this visit--which never took place! No one in my family lived in or travels to North Carolina. For shame!
Marla Hatton: I am being charged a doctor bill from you. When I was in the ER a doctor never walked into the room. I never spoke to a doctor.
Miguel Navarro: Got a sudden call from debt collections when I've had no contact or paperwork for the charge. I called WakeMed billing and they say I had everything paid in full then, called WakeMed Physicians and they transferred me to WakeMed billing?? What is going on and why am am I finding out about it almost a year later?
Jordan: BEWARE. I just incurred a $938 charge with them several months after being the ER. There was no warning of this. Communication is terrible you call and get different people every time telling you different information. I was only supposed to have $46 left on my balance but instead they charged me for the full month of my payment plan over $200. I doubt I will see that refund.
Hazel Cooper: I have an inquiry on my credit but I have never been seen in Raleigh but I was pregnant when the bill was mad and I have never even seen a doctor in raleigh
Vanessa DiPaulo: I only received one bill and it was a final bill warning, which had zero information about what the bill was about (such as date of service, what the service was, etc.). I never received any other previous correspondence and the amount that was due DOES NOT show up on the WakeMed MyChart, which doesn’t make sense. Super sketchy.
Matt Black: Absolute scammers , paid in full at the hospital was promised no more bills for a peds ER visit, like many people here got a collections notice months later out of the blue for 600 bucks. Never using wake ever I'm going to duke.
Homer Wixson: Same as everyone else. Paid all other hospital bills from early February vist. Just received bills from debt collectors via Wake Emergency Physicians. I was told they sent THREE statements and they must've gotten lost in the mail. Really? ALL THREE STATEMENTS LOST!?!?... I will never use a hospital staffed by Wake Emergency Physicians again
Bryan Bradley: Same story as others, no bills received, but sent straight to collections. I have called twice and received a cold reception both times. I was told that in 2 weeks I can call back and they'll give me their decision. I already paid what I owed and all I was asking for was an explanation!I have filed complaints against them with WakeMed and the NC medical board and I recommend others file complaints as well. Hopefully someone will eventually listen and hold them legally responsible for their careless billing practices. No one deserves to be tossed to collections without having the chance to pay their debts, especially after a visit to the ER.
mrcraigslistguy: Took kid to emergency last week of March. Got a bill from hospital, and other places and all were paid. Never got a bill from Wake Emergency Physicians (how can I pay when no bill?). All I get is a letter from Debt Collectors in first week of June. Called Wake Emergency Physicians, and was told they sent the bill THREE times. Really? If so, where are they? Looking at other reviews, this seems to be the norm. Not sure what billing company / software they using, but might be time to upgrade.
Jeremiah Brownridge: Ridiculously unprofessional communication. I incurred a charge in December 2019, yet I did not know of its existence until this week. Neither this company nor the collection agency informed me I had it. This company claimed they sent me seven letters from January 2020 to July 2020. I received nothing from these people. I know this because, between those months, everyone was at home! There is no way I would miss these supposed letters when I had nothing else to do but be at home. Also, even if these letters were sent, the billing must've missed that fact that the postal service was backed up. Mail was getting lost and some not even delivered. It's ridiculous that this company ONLY communicates through letters. Do you all realize phone calls/voice messages can be documented as well? This is 2022, if someone owes money, use all means of communication to reach them. The woman who I talked to was unprofessional and tried to talk down to me like I was stupid. She was absolutely no help to me. I don't blame any of the doctors for this, but they need a new billing service who have actually arrived to the 21st century, where everyone has a phone. I want it to be known I'm not complaining that I had an amount owed, I'm angry because this amount was never communicated with me until I found it as a collection on my credit reports. All of this could have been solved with a simple phone call/voice message, neither of which did I receive during that entire time. This entire experience has felt malicious, like the people here only want to ruin your credit rather than actually help you in the long run. If this LLC is using another to do their billing, they need to find someone else or do themselves. The billing service is giving your practice and your doctors a bad image.
Jared Boyd: Got a final notice of going to claims but never received any letters before that. Such a scam!
Angela Kale Dudley: If you receive service from Wake Emergency Physicians, PA and would like to avoid being sent to collections, I recommend calling them every day to ask how much you might owe them or Doctor Payments or Logix Health (or a number of other non-WakeMed related entities). Otherwise, you will hear from a collections agency within roughly 70 days of your service date and jump through flaming hoops to receive an itemized bill.
Dan W: My wife is a 100% disabled US Veteran. She was seen in the emergency department here, and the VA AUTHORIZED ALL PAYMENTS. Fast forward 3 months and I am bending HOUNDED by collections agencies. I have spent so much time on 3 way phone calls between myself, the VA, and collenpctions agencies. NOT EVEN THESE PEOPLE, they just through us to the wolves when there was some paperwork issues between them and the VA! Wake Emergency Physicians doesn’t care about Veterans, and they want to ruin your life. I will be pursuing damages with my lawyer.
Drew P: Just like everyone else to leave a review, I was a victim to their terrible billing practices. Shameful organization
Jacob: TERRIBLE literally got contacted by a freaking debt collector after weeks of me trying to reach out and contact them with no response. Seriously??? This is not how you do business or how to handle a customer support issue. Awful
Robin: I don't what is wrong with you guys, we are in 2021 and you were not able to contact me with the bill that I was not aware Wake hospital did not pay you. Now I got a call from debt collector, W T F I Wrong w u??? If I would get the bill as all the bills I got from wake I would pay it immediately, that's nuts. And your physicians su**cks btw, couldn't made a diagnostic.
jamie schneider: Terrible billing. They charged me for 5 days when I was only there one. It could be a quick fix, but no one wants to listen. I made a claim dispute months ago and received a reply that the case was open, only to later get a bill in the mail that I was about to go into collections. When I called customer service I was answered by a very rude women. So now I have no other choice but to pay or ruin my credit.

Duke Raleigh Hospital: Emergency Room: what do users think?
Janet Thompson: The doctors and PA's were absolutely wonderful. Their bedside manner was first class. That would have rated the doctors best in classThis rating is a two because the waiting room is small and filthy. All of the chairs were DIRTY. Housekeeping needs to wipe them down and clean the rooms. The filth of the lobby, waiting room and triage rooms is what lowered the rating. The staff was FIVE STAR. The facility was a Zero
Queen Coleman: Very professional medical center
EDDY CASTRO: Como siempre la seguridad impecable y necesaria, la atención em recepción muy operativa y limpia…!!!
shanell Rogers: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYONE. I don’t care how much pain you in do not come here.
Daron Wilson: They treated my cousin so well! The best ever, truthfully.
Wenona Young: I wish I could give this Death AKA sorry Hospital no starsPlease avoid Duke Raleigh.Wake Med and Rex is betterIt was a blonde, skinny , white nurse that did not check on me, passed by my room, never answered the call button and act like she do not want to be bothered with me.This happened on 4/4/2023 thenight staff is lazy , sorry and rude. That nurse had the nerve to say " AtLeast I was not dying" How sick of her. Hopefully Karma will come for her.I came in there with light head, thyroid levels that led me into a myxedema coma years ago , and could not hold food down.Later o. I found out my my thyroid levels was bad and my liver levels was in the 700. Dangerously levels. This incompetent staff (nurse and doctors) sent me home going in and out of sleepiness. If you care about yourself and your love ones please avoid Duke Raleigh Hospital Aka Death Hospital.☠️!If you are not dying they could careless about treating you. They would send you home I'm pain and with blood levels that is dangerous. This is the sorriest hospital in Wake CountyPlease go to Wake Med for better care.Duke Raleigh is sorry and UnprofessionalI honestly think UNC has better doctors and nurses and staff.Don't waste your time here!!!!Incompetent NIGHT SHIFT is the worse!!!That nurse
Q W.: I went in on valentines day to their ER. The Dr. L. Conger didn't check my urine or blood and just assumed my diagnosis. The nurse wanted to do tests but he just said I was fine and they threw away my urine. Turns out I had a UTI for over a month! They sent me home with stomach medications -.- They didn't work. I AM still really sick bc of the lack of care by Dr. Conger I needed antibiotics. I went to WakeMed today and received blood and urine tests which showed the infection. Dr Conger needs to do tests, everytime SIR. You just guessed. Tests make an educated guess. I'd hope the Doctors employed by Duke would order routine tests for sick individuals. -- Turns out other people are complaining about lack of care by Dr. L. Conger in the reviews. I contacted the NC Division of Health Service Regulations and filed a patient complaint. The Duke contact webpage has a link, or you can Google if you've also received neglectful care from Duke ER.
Ashley Flores: It was a quiet night, but they were still fast and efficient and very kind.
Kimberly Davis: Dr. TP is incompetent and misdiagnosed me. Said I was drug seeking. Maybe he is the one.
Jon Baglivo: Seen promptly. Excellent staff at all stages of the process. Would use again
Buck Buchanan: Wife visit was for BP & migraine concerns before holiday travel. Best all around care, professionalism, & courtesy from all staff members to include the cleaning crew & security guards. The attention to detail, explanation through each section was remarkable!! Just like every ER in America, limited docs & nurses working overtime dealing w/ COVID, flu, sick, hurt, impatient personnel & stress overall. There was also someone who walked thru the waiting area giving comfort, blankets, & crossword puzzle books to everyone who wanted something to bide time. My only complaint was the wait time around 6 hrs, some waited longer but Triage is always a growing beast.
Renaissance Funeral Home: Good luck getting a death certificate signed by one of their hospitalists when a patient dies in the emergency room. Please go to a hospital that has better organization and management. We take pride in timely filings on legal documents not to mention a strong consideration of client schedules. This is more of an issue at Duke Raleigh than any other hospital in the Triangle.
Mary Kos: My husband was experiencing fever, chills, and joint pain. He called his physician Thursday and was told to come in for an appointment on Monday. On Saturday afternoon the fever and joint pain had gotten much worse. We went to an urgent care center and had some tests run. Due to pre existing medical conditions, the urgent care doctor told us to go to the ER rather than waiting for the Monday doctor's appt. After more tests at the ER, the doctor made us feel like we shouldn't have come. We were told, "We treat heart attacks and strokes here." We didn't just show up at the ER. We were referred there by another doctor. The ER doctor also showed disrespect for the urgent care doctor. The ER doctor was an entitled jerk and provided zero care and showed no concern.
Mary Oakley: Craziest charges I have ever seen.
Taylor Williams: I went to duke health with a severe panic attack episode. They got me back in a timely manner. Heather was so personable & helpful! Everyone there was just great!
Andrea Medina: I went to Duke hospital for an emergency for severe abdominal pain about 2 months ago. They just did a pee test, took my vitals, and hooked me to an IV until it finished and made me go home still in severe pain after 8 hours of nothing. They did not run any tests at all. I just had emergency surgery at a different hospital because of the same abdominal pain. Turns out I had a severe infection in my gallbladder and there was a huge stone blocking fluids and it had to be removed asap and after they removed my gallbladder they found my umbilical hernia and fixed it as well. I don’t recommend Duke hospital unfortunately.
Mary Kenline: Scared for the well-being of my son, the staff (NP, nurses, paramedics, technicians, all of them) were kind and eager to do their best. We were in good hands! Thanks be to God!!
Laurel Franklinton: Terrible ED nurses are very rude and wait times are extremely long seems likeIf you are not dying then they don't care
Eileen Stickney: I would like thank Monica and everyone who helped my son last night. We rushed to the ER after he fell and had a huge egg on his head. I didn't have any diapers in the car. Monica overheard and immediately went to her car to grab diapers for my son. Thank you so much! There was another nurse that grabbed wipes as well I am so grateful to these women. The staff is so kind and give high quality care. Thank you! ❤
J Poyle: First of all, I appreciate all Health Care workers and anyone who serves the general public during these times of uncertainty. However, 10 hours from admission to discharge with, what most would consider, minimal customer service, is insane. Actually, my situation was critical. I arrived via Wake County EMS (amazing treatment), but upon arrival I was dumped into triage and passed around for vitals checks for 6 hours. The explanation was that "there weren't enough beds and they couldn't recommend that I leave, but couldn't tell me what the solution was or how long it would take". After finally being admitted into a room, I was left again with no communication. I believe that all the tests that were ordered (blood work, x-ray, cat scan, more blood work) were necessary; however, my fears, pain, anxiety, and worry were not addressed. I was hungry, thirsty, and there weren't even tissues in the room. After being very direct with an obviously new employee, I was miraculously dealt with and discharged. So why write this review? I have tremendous empathy and appreciation for this profession. I however, have zero tolerance for ignorant bedside manner, or call customer service as we call it in the business world. I have cancer.... I came in an ambulance... I was struggling to breath... I cried in pain during the CAT scan... NO ONE CARED! I also tend to take this up with hospital administration because if more than one doctor tries to bill be for service, I will fight it. I can think of 2 people during my stay that deserve to be paid. I am being treated for my cancer at Duke in Durham and have had the polar opposite experience. The care is ongoing, whereas emergency care is not. I understand. But if you don't like your job... Joshua: Right now, my wife is a Nurse in the ED. She has a fever of 101 and a positive flu test. She is working with patients right now. She is being forced to come to work or use unexcused absences, which would eventually result in discipline.04/29/2022 at 10:30pmDont go here.

UNC REX Hospital Emergency Department: what do users think?
Matthew Dwenger: Great medical staff! The doctors and nurses in the emergency room at UNC Rex took excellent care of me and were very thorough.
Shanta Barnes: Probably the best emergency room experience of my lifetime!
Melissa Ward: If I could give negative stars I would this has got to be the WORST ER EVER!!!! They treat you like cattle you have no privacy and the doctor I had DR Rice is incompetent why would you prescribe a medication that did not work previously LAZY and 90% of the nurses were RUDE!!!! HORRIBLE if I were dying I wouldn’t let anyone bring me here!!!!! Too bad I cannot refuse to pay for the incompetent care I received what a waste of time and money!!!! And who are these people that give them 5 star awards obviously they have never been patients anyone can pencil whip paperwork and dress it up for a visit the true test is actually being seen!!!
J B: I went in for a ruptured cyst. I was very disappointed in the care I received, everyone was so rushed and eager to get on to the next person I could barely ask a question. The receptionist was also very rude and dismissive, but she was very busy playing Candy Crush on the computer. I will not be using Rex Emergency Department in the future.
Me Wa: The customer service there is so rude. I’m speaking of the front desk and intake nurse. I was there and they were very rude talking about other patients in front of patients etc. my left out crying because she couldn’t see me. The way they represented Rex was terrible
Eileen Stickney: The admins got my son in right away. They were highly knowledgeable and caring. Spoke to us as if we were family. Also the ( nurse or doctor not sure) with the purple hair is an absolute angel. She literally ran and found my two year old peanut butter crackers when he was having a meltdown. Thank you for such great care! ❤️
Jacquelin Coats: I went to this emergency room around 2:30 in the morning. I have severe asthma, and was having extreme asthma attacks. I’ve been in and out of hospitals all of my life, and put on life support for my asthma. I had a fever of 104, and was essentially suffocating. They put me in a quarantine room for about an hour before they came to get me for an ekg. I asked if they could please get me a breathing treatment set up, to which they told me I had to be seen by a doctor first, which took about another hour. Most of the staff was nice but I was in tears fearing for my life. After they put in my iv and had me do a breathing treatment they put me back in the lobby with people who were profusely throwing up, coughing, and crying. I felt my iv was out of place but they failed to do anything about it until 6 am. The iv came out of my vein and was sitting beneath my skin for hours and nobody helped me until I went for chest X-rays. The lady was so nice. She told me she’d have to insert a new iv and I told her I knew I’d need a new one but nobody listened. I was there for 7 hours and was seen inconsistently for maybe a total of 20 minutes. I spent most of my time struggling to breathe in the lobby. Also tried to send me home with an iv still in my arm. I wouldn’t go here for any kind of emergency. I know they have a lot of patients come in but they didn’t even put me, or anyone else I had seen in a room at all. They just kept putting us all back out in the lobby.
Nadia Javed: My mum complained of pain in lower belly and it got so bad that she couldn't even stand. We rushed her to UNC Rex emergency department. She got surgery done the next day and the staff was great with exception of some.
Rob Bundy: Avoid. Slow, understaffed, terrible.
Alexandra Ptasienski: When I went in for multiple dog bites to my face, I was taken in right away. Everyone was so kind from the beginning to the end. It was a traumatic experience but everyone was so kind and had so much empathy. I have so much respect for everyone who took such good care of me.
M M: No communication and they don't tell you estimated waiting time or what are you waiting for. Just let you wait forever. No explanation. No superviser of course.
Mike: This organization is completely rotten. Patients are rendered powerless and given the most vague information as purposely as possible. Now I understand all the security. They will drive you mad there. Horrible place.
Cody Fisher: If I could give this place zero stars I would. How this emergency department is still functioning is beyond me. This ED is the absolute worst. Unfortunately, we don’t have a choice but to use this absolute horrid “health care” facility when something is wrong. My wife just had surgery two days ago, had to come back In because she may a blood clot in her chest. And she was out in a wheel chair and rolled back into the dang lobby!!! What has happened to the care and compassion. She’s beee. Left and forgotten. Sadly this is not the first time this has happened. This pace should be shut down. My wife can barely breathe, and is in excruciating pain, from what’s going on in her chest and from her surgery and you leave her, so you don’t have to tend to her. I think it’s time people lawyer up against this horrible facility.
Tina Asby: They are horrible. I was in there 8 hours for the male dr to come in and said they can’t help me if im not dying or if it’s not life threatening. Would not recommend
Krys Remaley: I am experiencing severe back pain and abdomen pain. It’s been 6 hours and I have not yet been seen. I’m likely going to leave soon and see if I can be seen elsewhere. There are people with IVs in the waiting area and they are doing triage in the waiting area. One lady threw up and all they did was send a janitor to clean it up, didn’t take her back or anything. There are people laying on the floor with no blankets or anything.Edit to add: I got there at 12:30 and was finally seen at 6:30. I was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection. I was uncomfortable with the medication prescribed me as a friend almost died from SJS from that medication and it was pulling teeth to get the doctor to prescribe me something different. I don’t care if I’m on my deathbed, I do NOT want to come here again.
Katherine Barr: We used this emergency department in August when my husband experienced tachycardia out of nowhere, and we were pleased with our experience. The staff were very professional and kind - special shout out to Dr. Erika Rice and to the triage nurses - and we were discharged with a follow up appointment with a cardiologist and a Zio patch for heart monitoring.Of course we did our share of waiting and that can be frustrating. We arrived at 5:45 AM and left around 3 PM. But anyone visiting an ER is going to have to do some waiting unless they are in danger of immediately dying. Just the way it is.
Lauren McDade: I came here with a friend two nights ago. ER was absolutely awful. Long wait, very little communication, weak intervention.
C A: Respectful, professional, caring staffers. Prompt courteous service (according to health urgency). Attending medical professionals are knowledgeable and perform necessary duties to get you cared for and moving forward.
Nakiah McCluney: Worst experience of my life! Never actually saw a doctor. Was treated like I wasn’t in pain. Nurses told me it was all in my head. Went to WakeMed urgent care and was treated. Turns out I have the flu. How do you even call yourself a hospital. I wasn’t tested for anything viral going around. They were extremely rude and gave no remorse to the fact I was literally throwing up blood. They gave me a IV and medicine I already told them I had taken that morning. Every time I had a question I was greeted with short answers, or simply ignored. One nurse didn’t even acknowledge me until she heard me comment on her work ethic. Then she came with a fake smile and told me I had to wait for the doctor. Doctor who didn’t give me a name, didn’t come see me himself, and was just as dismissive as the nurses. Specifically the triage nurse and the male nurse in the ER. One lady was nice and attentive but she was the lady who discharged me so with that being said …….Save yourself some time, stress, and from a headache of being told nothing is wrong with you and you’re just in your head with anxiety. Go to WakeMed.
Darnell Coleman: For This To Be My First Time I. tears Having The Flu., Getting Though Covid and All. I was Very Afraid Before I Got Here And Still Was Unsure Of My Health As I Get Discharged .. this is most unprofessional, non passionate/caring facility .I came with fever soar throat and body aches. They told me I had the flu and to keep drinking water, then discharged me . Without even checking my medical history or taking it into consideration . Fix it
Tonya Dickerson: Waited in the ER lobby for 8 long hours. The guy that did an ultrasound on my arm to find a vein, used my bloody rag and wiped over his equipment. Big OSHA no no.staff were busy talking and joking to notice the sick people waiting to be seen. Triage nurse was horrible and yelled. Worst hospital in NC.
