The Raleigh School of Music: what do users think?
Eric Warncke: I get violin lessons from Max at Raleigh School of Music and its a really nice environment that blends traditional/classical studies with personalized instruction. I went from sounding like a dying cat with my violin to being able to play some Star Wars songs, a bit of Vivaldi and Grieg. And I don't sound like a dying cat anymore. It's a great school, especially for violin.
Lisa Lindsay: My son is starting his 5th year of lessons at the Raleigh School of Music! He has had wonderful instructors!
Shannon Mills: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy 14 year old loves learning cello from Mr. Wenger! NRSOM has filled our home with music and that has brought us so much joy!
Jane Brown: Five star music school! My 7 year old learned the violin in just 9 short months. Her teacher is phenomenal, patient, kind and so talented. We enjoyed our weekly lessons and really appreciate the support we received - ongoing homework assignments, information, guidance. I would highly recommend this music school to anyone interested in learning an instrument.
Alex Shanker: I'm an adult student and I've been taking piano lessons with Ashe for just over 4 months, and so far I've had a very positive experience. Ashe has been a fantastic teacher, she's both very knowledgeable and very personable. My lessons with her have been the biggest driving force to continue learning and pushing myself. In addition, I have a positive impression of the entire NRSM staff. Everybody has been very friendly and respectful to me, and it's clear that they care a lot about the students and their education.
The Upholstered Chair: Great one on one music teaching experience!
Patricia Adkins: A hidden gem. In just about 3 months of individualized lessons, I am more confident as a singer and musician. My teachers are very knowledgeable and accomplished in their craft and love teaching as well. I look forward to going to class every week. It is a very rewarding experience for me so far and I intend on continuing with this school. I need the individual attention and guidance.
Natalie Duffield: My boys, 21 months and 4 months love it. Mrs. Ann is wonderful! We always have a great time and learn something new.
aseidenfrau: We have worked with the owner, Erin, for several years now. She is extremely talented and has taught my daughter many valuable skills with private voice lessons. We look forward to our summer sessions!
Sharon N: Our family extends a big thank you to Erin Moorman Wenger, private voice teacher and co-owner of North Raleigh School of Music. Our daughter started voice lessons with Erin three years ago, with no prior voice instruction, and has blossomed under Erin’s instruction to achieve selection for North Carolina Governors School in Choral Music last summer, and selection by audition to the NCMEA High School Honors Chorus this fall. I asked my daughter what specifically is so helpful about Erin’s voice lessons and she responded that “she tells me exactly what how to correct and improve my singing and then she is so happy when I get it right “. Erin has contributed greatly to our daughter’s confidence, in singing and as a young woman, and we are very grateful. Thank you, Erin!
Patricia Somers: I love my cello lessons! I am an adult learner, and my lessons are one of my favorite things all week. I learn SO much each time, and my teacher is patient, fun and inspiring. I also play in the cello choir, which is an opportunity to play with other people, and learn something about playing in a group. The school provides a wonderful, welcoming environment and top notch professionalism. Thank you!
greg gibbs: While my children enjoyed the classes, the management are liars. I requested a refund 2 days after my card was billed and was refused. She said that her hands are tied and that it is not her policy, but Kindermusiks refund policy. Well, I have found numerous local chapters that will issue refunds for unused classes. Many will refund UP TO TWO MONTHS OF CLASSES if you are not happy. I understand the economics of credit card transactions and the charges associated. I offered to pay double her fees that she had to pay, but nope, no refund. I would not recommend this place, but the numerous other locations that offer this program and more consumer friendly refund policies. I will be using my month of classes when my kids are old enough to not be terrors bc of the class being during nap time. I will come with a smile and never come back again after I use my credit. And for my adult perspective, you can do the same thing and save $65 with a CD of kids music, some scarves, a stuffed animal and a kids drum.
Monique Williams Boyd: My daughter has attended Kindermusik at North Raleigh School of Music for almost 2 years. She has never really attended daycare, so Kindermusik gives her a chance to not only learn about music, but also how to successfully interact with her peers. Anne and Erin are wonderful at engaging young children. The classes are lively and fun; we look forward to it every week!
Steffi Briley: Love Kindermusik at North Raleigh School of Music!! Anne & Erin are great with the children and help teach them valuable lessons re: social skills in addition to music!! So glad we started coming this summer! My 3 year old loves it!
Karen Hite: My daughter started attending Kindermusik classes from NRSOM when she was 20 months old. She's 3-1/2 now and still looks forward to it every week! It has helped her so much developmentally. It's so much more than just learning about music, although she does love that and walks around singing all the time now. She has always struggled with shyness and insecurity but music has been her bridge to having more confidence. She definitely feels safe and secure and confident enough to explore and try new things at Kindermusik and that has spilled over into her life outside of Kindermusik. Erin, the owner and one of the teachers, is fantastic to work with and she runs a top-notch school. There's not much chance of "maxing out" so to speak...a young child can start in Kindermusik and move up different levels of the Kindermusik program and then even move on to take private lessons in voice or many other instruments offered by NRSOM. It's a fantastic place and a lot of good things happen there.

Falls River Music: what do users think?
G. _: Arrived during posted business hours (~6:20pm) to purchase some items but I arrive to a sign reading "No counter service available. Personal lessons only now, please come back later." While I appreciate the fact they give lessons, you can hire someone to work to the desk so you don't lose customers or sales. So their open sign is really an "open" sign. Please post more accurate open hours or hire more staff to resolve this in the future.
allison lewis: My daughter has taken piano lessons here for 5 years. She can be shy but her instructor is so positive and encouraging that she just loves her. She takes the time after her lesson to share with me what they are working on and how my daughter is doing. Our instructor also teaches flute and is very flexible when my daughter wants to switch gears and get some extra help with that instrument. The music store has been great and very flexible with any changes to fit in our crazy schedule. The owners are very kind and friendly.
John Spencer: My kids have taken lessons here for years and I love the personal touch given by Steven and Michelle. There was a period of time when my daughter was going through a stage of shyness and they made her feel so welcome, comfortable, and like family. I love having these folks right in the neighborhood.
Kathryn Wall: My daughter has taken lessons at Falls River Music for 5 years and she has grown as a musician. The teachers are talented and patient with students. The staff is great and flexible. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for either an intro to an instrument, or someone who is looking for an intermediate to advanced level. Easy to work with and convenient location.
Victoria Jenny: Falls River Music is great. Bob, Steve, and others there really care about those who are taking lessons and do all they can to educate and share knowledge. The lessons are great and then you can actually perform through recitals, band camps, and student bands.
Marsha Crum: We have been with Fall’s River for several years. Fall’s River Music is not the closest music store for our family, but we wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. Steve and Michelle are both very easy to work with, and they are always quick to respond to any unexpected schedule changes or any questions we may have. My son’s drum instructor is Michael and he is fantastic with him. He (my son) is legally blind and is unable to see the sheet music. Michael has tailored his lessons in a way that he is able to learn the music in a non-traditional way. Fall’s River is the only place for my young musician 😊
Reza Hatefi: My kids have been going there for years and love it!
Amber Babcock: Worst customer service. This is the second time I have visited this music store during their posted business hours and no one was there. I waited 20 min after time to open and finally had to leave.
Baker Romeo: I brought a used bass to Falls River Music this past week to have it checked out, have a setup done, and to ask that they investigate some fret and nut buzz. They estimated the price at $45, which is less than a setup costs at your typical big-brand guitar store. I got the call yesterday, the actual price was $15 because they didn't find any issues calling for any more involved operations. They could have just charged me the forty-five bucks and I would've been happy to pay it, but they gave me a square deal, and that's what you can expect. The staff and the owner are friendly and polite, and I'm looking forward to signing up for some bass lessons here before too long.
Lea Nardolilli: I was looking for a fun way to ensure our son practiced his trombone over the summer. I found their summer camp, and figured we would give it a shot. When I picked him up the very first day he asked if he could sign up for a second week because he had so much fun. He learned so much in 2 weeks, and had a great time! It was so fun watching the kids during the end of camp concert! Steve was great with the kids, and made sure my son always had parts to play! He's already asking when the next camp is! We were very happy!
Denise F: Signed up through Groupon, had no problems using the coupon then continued on month to month. My daughter really likes the instruction, Michael, for drums. Have had good experiences/interactions with both owners and since the waiting area is in the lobby I get to see a lot of other interactions. Everyone working and coming for lessons seems to be happy, things seem to run pretty efficiently as well and you can see that many long term relationships have been built with parents, teachers, and students. Would recommend as lessons are reasonably priced to allow your child explore their musical side!
Mary: My kids have been taking music lessons at Falls River Music for years now and they love it! The instructors really listen to my kids and get a feel for their taste in music so they can make learning fun for them. Both of my boys want to practice and make their music teachers proud and that's because of that student/teacher rapport. Besides the lessons, my kids have done the summer camps, recitals (free here), and (when they were ready) the open mic nights. We always find instructors just hanging around on open mic night - just to support their students! Where else do you find that kind of support? Before we went to Falls River Music, we tried 2 other music lesson places in our area. One of them had so much overturn, my son had a new teacher 4 times in 1 year! At the other place, the teachers were very strict and my kids were always nervous around them.I highly recommend Falls River Music - and I have recommended them to several friends who are also happy there.
Michelle Coon: The first of a series of summer music camp concerts, started tonight. The students did a great job. The instructors did an awesome job putting it all together! Good going every one👍
Michael Richardson: This was by far one of the WORST experiences we have EVER had. We bought a groupon to try out this music school. We set up the time with the owner. Our kids were taking guitar and piano. We really LOVED the piano instructor. The guitar instructor was okay.My first red flag should have been when the owner wanted to charge me for the trial after finding out I had a groupon. I actually received 3 lessons for a 4 lesson groupon. Then it started. We went in one day and we were told by the staff on duty that we owed money for all of the past lessons. We paid what was requested of us and asked to be called by someone who handled the books so we could work it out. The owner was Steve was extremely rude and after taking way too much time out of my work day I finally understood his ridiculous bookkeeping methods. Btw- I have a college degree in mathematics. At that point I started keeping my own records. I knew we wouldn't be returning and I was showing that we were owed one more lesson from the money I paid them. I asked to have them clarified on their end. Once again Steve called me but this time SCREAMING that I never paid them. I sent him an email with the 2 groupons attached as well as the large payment I made and told him we wouldn't be returning. Life is too busy to work with someone of this demeanor who can't handle their bookkeeping. It was again the most ridiculous experience I think I have EVER had with a business owner. I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully by someone who is trying to earn your hard earned money. It is a shame too as again we really loved the piano instructor but NEVER NEVER NEVER would I go back here because the owner is a mess.
SUMMER AGMOTIONS: i took violin lessons there from rachel and i loved it i used not not like violin that much but rachel made it easy and fun

Eric Fitch: Took guitar lessons here for about 2 1/2 years and loved it! Paul was a fantastic teacher. One of my favorite parts was the student shows, which gave an opportunity to perform with a other students in front of an audience. Highly recommended!
Amanda Molson: I loved taking beginner acoustic guitar lessons at RMA. Teacher Paul Warren was patient, supportive, and flexible to meet my schedule. I highly recommend their one-on-one classes if you are just starting out with a new instrument or if you're building on existing skills. So much fun!
Amy Pierce: We have taken lessons here for years and really love it!
Laura: I have loved taking guitar lessons from Paul. He allows you to focus your lessons on what you really want to be learning. The student shows are so fun and a great way to try out preforming in a positive environment.
Janet Thomas: My son has been taking guitar lessons from Paul for almost six years. Not only is Paul a great teacher, he is also a mentor and role model for my boys. (My younger son has been taking drum lessons for three years.) The monthly student shows are a great way for the students to perform in a low-stress, welcoming environment, and it has been great watching the progression of my own kids as well as other students. Choosing RMA was one of the best decisions we have made for our kids!
Casey Olevsky: I attended Raleigh Music academy and had a great experience. The instructors were very detailed and incredibly helpful. They were super personable and I'd highly recommend them for anyone looking to take lessons at any age. It's a very convenient location and above all else is a locally run business. I'm always a huge fan of supporting local businesses rather than the big chains that offer lessons elsewhere. Give them a try, you won't regret it!

Cat SeiyaKou: Positive:ProfessionalismI've been taking singing and guitar lessons here since I was in middle school, the teachers here are very passionate and know what they're doing. Almost about to release my first song which wouldn't be possible without Craigs training over the years. I can't wait to continue my lessons here and continue to learn and grow.
Lynne: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismMy son loves taking piano lessons there. They go above and beyond at encouraging him and provide challenging pieces that are perfect for him. It's lifted his self esteem which is so important for kids right now. They also call every so often to ensure that everything is going well with his lessons. Highly recommend.

Katie Simons Pahner: We love Musicians Learning Center! Our daughter has been taking guitar and voice lessons for over a year now and loves it! The teachers are highly-trained and exceptional with children. They encourage - without being overly rigid - and, more importantly, make the experience FUN. Kids can earn various rewards by meeting practice goals. To see how much our daughter's love of music has soared (along with her confidence) is quite amazing. The front desk staff could not be more friendly or more responsive by email or phone, which is a huge value-add. They also occasionally check-in by phone to see how the lessons are going, if we have any questions etc., which is rare in business these days and is appreciated. HIGHLY recommend.
F. Alex: Excellent place for music lessons on many instruments, and currently offering both in-person and virtual options.
Scott Geater: Everyone is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable!
Familia QC: It's a very organized academy, caring about their students and every detail to make their experience enjoyable.Quality time and motivation, make the kids eager to accomplish the goal of each lesson! My child is 5 years old, and got happily caught into the music world!
Delia Diamond: Unbelievably kind and helpful front desk and Leilani’s voice lessons have been A M A Z I N G! So thankful to have found you guys.
Ray Rivera: My two granddaughters spend summer vacation with us here in Wake County. Every year we get them involved in activities to help them learn and grow to be respectable children and eventually adults. They have been involved in gymnastics, karate, swimming, and other organized activities. This summer we heard their interest in music lessons, specifically guitar and drums. We are so glad we did and our only regret is that they had to return home to Connecticut and could not continue. They loved and we were happy with the lessons and especially Chris. Tell Chris I was FaceTiming with Jordyn and she told me to tell Chris hello. I didn’t know how to accomplish that, however, now that I have this opportunity please tell Chris that Jordyn said hi. They will be back next summer and we will return for lessons. So on behalf of Jaeda and Jordyn, thank you for your time and hopefully we will see y’all in the future. 👍 Raymond Rivera
Jorge Valero: Very didactic class. I love it.
Donna Ecton: I appreciate the email reminders and help from staff when rescheduling. The staff are always very pleasant. Thank you!”

Kasey Helton: We love lessons here! My son, my daughter, and I all take lessons and it's our favorite day of the week. The instructors make music so much fun that my kids sit down to practice without prompting. The location is really convenient and scheduling lessons with the front desk is always easy. Group lessons are a huge hit with my kids too. It allows them to meet other instructors and have a "bonus" lesson on a weekend day. The instructors are all talented in not only music, but teaching. They really connect with the kids and create a love of music.
Diane Womble: My son has been taking guitar lessons with Jon for the past year and a half. He has learned so much and really looks forward to his lessons every week. I highly recommend The Musician’s Learning Center for all levels of musicians!

Simpson School of Music: what do users think?
Drew Cietek: Isaiah is a super chill guy and is very flexible with your schedule. If you're looking for someone who's down to earth and can genuinely teach you how to sing without making you feel inadequate, he's your guy.
Brandon Morris: Isaiah is an awesome teacher! Incredibly patient, and you definitely can tell he knows what he is talking about. I would definitely recommend him to anybody looking to gain a new skill in music.
Ryann Fitzgerald: Isaiah is great! I went in with zero drum (or really any musical) experience and have been surprised by how much he's been able to teach me in just 2 months. Highly recommend!
Igor De Souza: Isaiah's been working with me for a few weeks now and I've felt an amazing pace of improvment in a very short period. This is a man who knows what he is doing and where to get you started and headed. He's helped me lots around my busy schedule and made the lessons very accessible through skype. Isaiah is that music teacher that understands how the cosmos work. Music is like a tool to translate emotions into expression. And the more you learn, the more you're able to express yourself. Thanks Isaiah 😄👍🎹🎶
Via Bell: My son is a pretty easy-going kid with coordination issues and does not respond well to aggressive or authoritarian teachers . Isaiah is a good match for him because he goes at my son's pace and is very supportive. If you want a teacher who will beat your child into submission, this is not the school for you. But if you want someone who is an accomplished musician in a wide variety of instruments and good with children, I would recommend trying Isaiah for lessons.
Cameron Byrd: As a child I attempted to play a few instruments, but it was clear that I was not musically inclined. Consequently, I gave up on anything musical and just went about life knowing I would never explore that side of myself. As an adult, I have decided to expand my mind and skillset by stepping out of my comfort zone and learning to sing. I found the Simpson School of Music online and have been taking lessons regularly for the past few months. Isaiah is a great teacher and I am progressing way faster than I expected. With his help I feel more comfortable and confident in my skills, and I regularly sing in the car, around the house, and to my daughter before I put her to bed. In addition, voice lessons have helped improve my clarity while public speaking, which has been great for my career. I would definitely recommend Isaiah for any musical training.
Stella Malika: Isaiah is a very talented musician who is extremely passionate about music. He has a great positive attitude, strives for excellence and quality and is highly devoted to growing both as a performer and a teacher. As a person, he is so kind, warm, helpful and fun to be around. I highly recommend him.
Ali E.: I had never sang in front of anyone and was absolutely terrified to start voice lessons. Luckily, Isaiah is awesome! He made me feel comfortable and my confidence is continuing to build with each lesson. Not to mention, he’s helping me make improvements that I never knew I needed. I would strongly recommend him to anyone!
Jeremiah Smith: After researching various piano lesson options, I decided to try Simpson School of Music. It’s been a great experience thus far (I’ve been going for about two months). In addition to working through a book, there has also been a focus on learning songs which I’m interested in, which is huge to me as motivation on become better at piano. I am going to start having my two sons begin to take lessons with Isaiah very soon as well. Overall it has been awesome and I highly recommend it!
Denise Coleman: I have greatly enjoyed my piano lessons with Isaiah. I am getting instruction from theory to songwriting. I would definitely recommend your music lessons here!
Charles Spears: Isiaha is a great teacher. He is one of the best instructors that I have ever met.
Ann Hoffman: I can recommend this talented young man as a musician and a teacher
Jim Lim: Isaiah has the talent that is essential in a good music teacher. In addition to having a vast amount of knowledge about the subject that continues to grow, he also has open mindedness and patience that really benefits him as a teacher! I would recommend him to anyone of any age, gender, background etc. and he will do an excellent join making sure you are comfortable and making sure you are learning.
Jin Kim: I have been taking voice lessons from Isaiah for 2 months and I would definitely recommend it to other neighbors around in triangle area.2 months are a pretty short time to know someone however, I noticed that Isaiah is very passionate about teaching his student. He always sends email containing the homework and reviewing material after the lesson. Also, he encourages students to record the lesson and practice it at home. He tries to correct the errors and mistakes but, he respects the personal singing style.I tend to get very nervous while singing, however the 1 on 1 lessons helps me to only focus on the lesson itself, not distracted by anyone or the environment.Lastly, I also recommend Isaiah for people who are sick of contracts and monthly auto-payments, late fees, cancellation fees. There are NO contracts at Simpson musics school.
Matt Bronson: Isaiah has always been a kind, patient and most importantly TALENTED individual. He is a great option for students of any ages.
p. “pbinx” Binx: Extremely versatile musician and gifted teacher
Ghost Dog: A great musician, but more importantly, excellent at relaying information to his students. Some people are good at what they do, but horrible at teaching it to others. Such is NOT the case with Mr. Simpson...
Christopher Keller: Isaiah is a great musician. He's not only great at guiding his students through musical growth, he's consistently hard at work improving his own skills and musical abilities. It's rare to work with someone who recognizes not only the techniques that need to be improved, but the healthy mindset to approaching learning in a fun and efficient way.
Jason Bowden: Isaiah Simpson is one of the finest teachers I've known. He embodies everything that is creative and wholesome within the art of music.Jason BowdenEngineer / Discovery Communications
Derrick Williams: Very informative and inspiring! loved every moment.
Robert Mendola: Isaiah is a great guy.

School of Rock: what do users think?
Kevin Cook: Great school! I've been taking Guitar lessons with Shane for just over a year and have made tremendous progress due to his diligent work ethic, enthusiasm and determination to continually push me just out of my comfort zone so as not to stagnate my progress! I highly recommend this school for anyone who wants to progress on their musical path!
Alexandra Trinks: It has taken me a few months to decide to write the review for Raleigh School of Rock. I was hesitant to leave a poor, albeit honest, review, because I felt bad for the business owners. However, I decided to let others know about my experience with this establishment.I first learned about School of Rock through friends; our friend's daughter goes to one in Chapel Hill. I was thrilled when the Raleigh location opened. I was excited for my two boys to attend. They play piano and drums. I was mostly excited about the opportunity for them to play music with other people. From my experience (I dabble in guitar), it's much harder to play with other musicians. The problems started right off the bat.1. The teaching method that the school uses, "The School of Rock Method" is based on an app that the kids are supposed to use for practice. Well, not ONE of the teachers, or owners, has a clear idea of how to use it proficiently. It's like they are trying to learn it along with the kids. This, to me, is unacceptable. Example: the song that the kids were learning was in the certain musical key, as per the app. Turns out, when the the song was taught at the school, the teacher decided to change the key and transpose the music. With a different key, there was no way to practice the song at home. After multiple attempts to try and get the music in correct key, I gave up. Michelle, one of the owners, does not know how to do that.2. The school does not assign homework. This MIGHT work for some kids, but I really don't see how one can learn music without practice. My kids came to the school with some experience, but their skills started to deteriorate almost as soon as they started.3. To my knowledge, non of the teachers at the school hold musical degrees. Maybe the owner has some musical background, but I'm not sure. At the end of our time there, I decided to take some guitar lessons for myself, with Chris, who teaches guitar and drums. I was absolutely shocked to learn that Chris, who is also a "musical director" there, has never studied music theory! He DOES NOT know how to read music! He did not know the difference between a music staff and guitar tab. Yup, that's the musical director for you. In addition, while being the official drum instructor, he admitted to me that he was currently in the process of teaching himself the drums. There were many, many more problems with this place. I don't have time to write a novel. Just know that if you enroll your kid in this place you will be wasting your money. For the price they are charging I expect my kid to receive a very good quality musical education. You will not get that. You will get to drop off your kid at a sort of musical camp, where all the adults have no idea what they are doing.
