Raleigh Oak Charter: what do users think?
Christine K: My daughter is very pleased with this school. Very dynamic learning experience and everyone is very nice.
Amy Greene: NC's first *free* Waldorf public school. The teachers really care and give individualized attention to the children. Lots of hands-on learning, integrating arts and movement. Outdoor time is developmentally important. As such, ROCS prioritizes it.
Itnuit Janovitz Freireich: Arts intensive, lots of outdoor time, and great teachers! Love the community and all the great projects the school has. The Waldorf approach is really unique and there's no other school like it in North Carolina.
E. Moore: Rude! They would not even let me in the door.
Andy Miller: Teachers are super friendly, the administrators called back promptly to respond to questions.Going thru the usual startup problems, and the Waldorf method isn't for everyone. The State BOE is not fond of Charters and puts interesting and difficult restrictions on them which feel like dealing with the DMV.But if you do your homework and decide it's a good choice for your kids, then we highly recommend this school.

Chesterbrook Academy Preschool & Elementary School: what do users think?
Ashley Voss: We had such a good experience at this school. If we hadn't gotten into our first choice magnet, we would have stayed. The teachers are amazing and so caring. There is very little turnover, unlike many daycare/preschools. The administrative team is extremely hands on and they know every student and parent at the school.
James Johnston: Chesterbrook is an amazing school and our child could not be happier here. The curriculum is engaging and I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking.
Jill North: Chesterbrook has been an amazing school for our family! We love the sense of community and the smaller size that allows for a more individualized education. We also love how safe and loved our boys feel at school every day.
Nuria Cameron Torra: We absolutely love this school. The teachers are kind, passionate, and helpful! The kids are so happy at Chetserbrook Academy!
Chelsea K: We've had both our daughters at this school for preschool and they both absolutely love it. I love getting the photos sent home and the daily updates through email. Both of my kids are so fond of their teachers- they ask me to send pictures of stuff to them all the time!
Hiroko Enomoto: My son had a wonderful summer camp experience and started joining the Chesterbrook academy in Raleigh at 1st grade. This school is the perfect study and learn environment. He keeps study motivation for everything new thanks to nice teachers and classmates. It looks like he can learn in a relaxed way and enjoy learning !!! This school also has its own nature trail, pool and playground, so children can play outside for safety. I am also impressed in their efforts to deal with covid-19 and a safe carpool system.
Kortney Wilson: CBA is a great school, through all the challenges of 2020 and 2021, they found a way to make school safe, fun, and in-person, which continued through Summer camp. The leadership and educational team, led by Principal Moore care about the kids safety, growth, and success and making sure it is great environment to learn and develop! We love all the staff there!
Mark Kolanach: My daughter attended pre-K and K there, we were immensely happy with the experience. Facility is top notch, but more importantly the staff is fantastic and dedicated to structure and teaching in smaller class sizes. It's a really positive environment that brings out the best in the children, and by the end of K my daughter was able to read level 3 books to us. The extracurriculars are also excellent as is the summer camp. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience with Chesterbrook Academy.
Erica Burris: My daughter attends Kindergarten here and son in Pre-K. It is a wonderful school. Very small family feel. The staff are smart, fun and really care about the children. Tons of daily communication, photos and work they did sent home. My daughter learned how to read, they’ve had 100 site words, spelling tests weekly. She is above grade for reading and math now upon completion of Kindergarten. Their summer program is great too.
Melissa Barr: We are so thankful to have found Chesterbrook. Our daughter has excelled so much in their Summer camp and Pre-K programs. In traditional daycare she would often get bored and not want to go to "school." Now, she is excited to go and tell us about her day. She brings home such great artwork, is counting past ten in spanish, has made excellent strides on her journey to reading and we know that she is getting the safe socialization that she needs during these weird Covid times. The campus is beautiful with several age appropriate playgrounds, a sports court, wooded nature trails and even an outdoor classroom. The staff here are amazing-- they know us by name and run a safe and efficient carpool line, as well (icing on the cake!). We're hoping that by next summer the pool will be able to be open again so she can enjoy swimming at summer camp!
Brynn Terry: My son has been making amazing upward progress since attending this school. In just five weeks, my son gets himself up for school via an alarm, dressed, washed up and downstairs helping me with breakfast and packing his lunch. He looks forward to school so much! He’s reading everything we pass by that has words. He’s applying math even while baking cookies all on his own without me even sparking any thought for him. He’s eager to learn. To see his new friends. The staff is so warm, welcoming, and friendly. A very very very efficient carpool. Especially during these unique times of Covid. Within a day- staff knew my sons name and my car and were able to greet us by name each morning and afternoon! I feel so safe having my child attend this school. We are so pleased with the maturity of my son and his advancing so quickly! It’s amazing! Thank you CB!
L Pearce: My son is a student in the intermediate classroom (3 year old), and we are so pleased with this school. The teachers are warm and caring. Our son is excited to go to school everyday and that is a testament to the environment at the school - it is clear the administration and teachers work hard to provide a safe, loving and fun environment where children are able to thrive. In addition to awesome homeroom teachers, our son is able to benefit from all the specials teachers - spanish, drama/music, art, PE and STEM each week. As an added bonus, the facility is located on a beautiful wooded lot where the students spend time outdoors each day.
Natasha Moore: This elementary school is wonderful in every way. Teachers are intelligent, student centered, and kind. Children are trained to be friends, show respect, and work hard. The many playgrounds, pool, and field trips are beyond anything you could hope for in public school. The daily reports and pictures are wonderful. I just can’t say enough good about it. I recommend any parent place their child here with confidence it is a sound decision. We drive across the county to get to this school, and it is so worth it.
Todd Mozingo: My son attended this school for about a year. I was in his classroom one day, unbeknownst to the teacher in the adjoining room. I heard her yell at a little girl and threaten to "tear her legs up." I immediately reported this to the "principal," and she was completely unfazed. Many conversations with the principal and a regional manager resulted in promise that the employee, who admitted to threatening to "tear up" the legs of someone else's child, would be "more closely monitored." No, she wasn't terminated. Later, I interviewed staff from this school who admitted that it is not a healthy environment for children. We removed my son immediately.

Doral Academy of North Carolina: what do users think?
Tekin Guler: Doral academy,s picture
Lala McE: This school is not interested in the kids reaching their best self. If your child falls behind there is NO PLAN for remediation, you have to figure that out completely on your own outside of the school, while the teachers tell you “they are fine, they will get it after while and put zero’s on their assignments”. Seems like a way to weed out children who would make the school’s scores go down. My children were sent home loads of homework, 2 worksheets every single day and these were heavy worksheets, that required multiple steps. Also had spelling tests and sight word tests every other week, very intense for kindergarten. I saw my daughter’s love for learning dwindle quickly. Administration treated the kids like they were in a military or something “Walk faster, hurry up” sickening. School was new and classrooms were small, so no social distancing at all.Edited to add: I was very involved in my children’s education. There were multiple meetings with the teachers. There were NO further interventions that they provided or recommended in addition to small groups.
Amanda: Love the STEAM program and the support from teachers and admin. They are all so attentive and helpful. I am so glad to have found Doral.
Marcela Lastre: I cannot recommend this school enough to families! Our children are happy and engaged daily. They are receiving a well-rounded education complete with a STEAM curriculum, learning a second language, and making memories with friends. The staff and administration have welcomed us with open arms and have provided a loving environment. This is a great school for families who want their children to learn how to think outside the box while setting them up for a bright future.
Meghan Evans Payne: We have had a wonderful experience with Doral Academy of NC! Though a new school, the admin team knows what they are doing as they came well-versed from South Florida Doral Prep. Every level of employee here has the children’s best interest at heart. Our child’s emotional and academic health has grown leaps already. We have recommended Doral to everyone we know!
Kahine Borcath Jucoski: WE LOVE AND SUPPORT DORAL!!!!It's an amazing school, with a great curriculum, all the staff is very kind and accessible. Don't be concerned about this school.
Monica Lileton: We applied to Doral based on a very informative virtual open house and the curriculum is what really sold us on the school. My kindergartener went from knowing grade level sight words to being able to read (Level 2 readers) independently within the first 4 months. She thoroughly enjoys her teachers and all her classes. I have been impressed with communication from administration and their willingness to listen to feedback from families. I highly recommend.
Patrick Cordier: A gem hid in Raleigh. This school is one of the best options you can find in the triangle area for your kids. You will not regret it!!
Lisbeth B: Doral Academy is an excellent and well recognized school with a great STEAM curriculum. The staff (teachers, teacher assistants, administrators) are superb and very caring. There are various locations, all of which are highly rated. I recommend Doral Academy.
Yendi Gari: This school has amazing administrators and teachers!!! Truly top notch!!
THE LONG FAMILY: Amazing and caring teachers, administration and families! My kids are happy every day and talk nonstop about the things they’re learning! I can’t recommend this school more highly!
Valerie Furr: Excellent teachers and administrators. Engaging environment for students to learn.
Rebecca Rich: Students are engaged in hands on learning every day. Great curriculum and team.

Trinity Academy: what do users think?
Sarah Dupree: Literally a joke of a private high school. My daughter doesn’t even know what a thesis statement is. Disgusting.
Caleb Sigmon: my children love it here
Home Instead: Wonderful school. Great Christian culture. great education for kids. The teachers all my children had are first rate!
Justin Hofer: The religious studies teacher is quite quirky, but albeit cute. Zay Todd go to school
Joshua Nelson: This is a great school. Great community and great people. Give this school 20 years and they'll be one of the most successful schools in Raleigh. All three of my kids go there and they get a wonderful education . I would definitely recommend this school.
Apryl Major: My son loves Trinity...they are his second family! You won't get a better, balanced Christian academic education anywhere in the Triangle. As for the modular classrooms used on campus, I believe Jesus would look past what's on the outside and rather look on the inside, at your heart. This is what matters most to God. Trinity is truly blessed!
P B: Amazing what our children have received in education and life lessons. In reference to the negative review from someone who has never had children attend Trinity - Since that review from three years ago, incredible construction has been completed of some beautiful facilities. However, if I had known the quality of the classical education and the foundations for Character they would receive, the beauty of the facilities would be the least of my concerns.
Wendy Schulz: Our family has been very blessed by the teachers of Trinity Academy of Raleigh. Our children have been encouraged, nurtured and taught by a group of teachers that truly care about them.
Stacy Gray: Trinity Academy of Raleigh is a Christian school that cares about it's students and has a true sense of community! Our children are getting a classical education, and learning how to strengthen their relationship with Christ! We pulled them from public school when we noticed that grammar, writing, spelling and cursive were being eliminated from the core curriculum. Trinity focuses on all of that plus teaching critical thinking, logic, and Latin from an early age. From the moment we stepped on the campus for a tour, we felt this was an exceptional and nurturing community that we wanted our children to be a part of. Now that we are on our second year here, we see firsthand how the teachers and staff truly care about each and every student. They will go above and beyond to help your child succeed not just academically but also emotionally! While it was a hard financial commitment to switch from public school to private, Trinity Academy has proven to be the right choice for our family and we love it!
Rebecca Smith: This school is amazing everyone there is kind and supportive!
Elizabeth Wagner: My son recently began attending Trinity and we love it! Yes, the classrooms are in modular buildings, but that pales in comparison to the wonderful people who run the school. The teachers are excellent and care so much about the children in their care. You really couldn't ask for a more loving environment. I am also very pleased with the curriculum and the approach to teaching. We feel blessed to be at such an excellent school.
Megan Clark: First off, let me say that every building on their campus, besides the gym, is modular (in other words - TRAILERS). They have a so called 20-year plan for a campus, which includes tennis courts, admin buildings, classrooms, etc...that's great, but why would anyone send their child to a school with only modular facilities, paying the going rate for a private school education? What a waste! I will be looking at other schools with more history and actual non-modular classroom setting. Additionally, the staff at the school seem flakey. The administrative offices lost our paperwork, delaying the admissions process by weeks. I think there are much nicer alternatives in Raleigh. Ravenscroft, North Raleigh Christian Academy, and St. David's are beautiful schools. Hey, maybe in 20 years right? Once the supposed_campus_ at Trinity is complete will it actually be something to look at...only my son will have been graduated and off to college by then. Thanks, but no thanks, Trinity Academy...good luck.

Thales Academy Raleigh Pre-K-8: what do users think?
Michael Laney: Great experience for our kids
Erin Geary: The teachers are amazing. They spend their own money on rewards for the students. The principal is very professional and hardworking.
Sandra: This is a beautiful well equipped school. The office staff were very friendly and informative 👍
Faye Woods: School for children.
Joshua Briggs: We started at Thales because they were open for in person learning during Covid. We are so glad we did. My son and daughter are thriving and love school. We can’t imagine ever having them in another school. The staff and education are excellent.
Nathan Sanders: Best school in Raleigh
Monica Foley: I have two children at Thales Academy: one in elementary and one in high school. Thales is a rigorous, awesome school!
pdk9118: Thales is a great school. I go to work with peace of mind knowing my child is in the care of very capable, professional and understanding teachers. My child has had the privilege of attending 3 different Thales campuses as she has grown and has loved her experience at every one of them. Lets face it, money doesn't grow on trees....compare the cost of Thales with other private schools in the area... it can't be beat!
Ayush Patel: it IS good school
Brian Hammill: Thales Academy has been our school for the past 3 years. They hire quality teachers and staff from the best universities and who are truly passionate about teaching. Academic standards and course offerings are high. Students routinely work 1 to 2 grade levels above their actual grade and have opportunities to excel. Character and good citizenship are also emphasized and the direct instruction style of teaching has worked well. Use a modified year-round calendar so the summer break is shorter than traditional school year. The new building was completed a little over 2 years ago and the school is still growing and will eventually have 3 classes of each grade K - 5. A great alternative to other schools!
