Once Upon A Child: what do users think?
Ashee Mo: So I been going here on and off for a while now. But, everytime I take my neat , clean, washed and iron clothes. They always give me back and hardly take anything. The older lady in the front who wear glasses was rude and didn’t even reply to my question when I asked her that how come she didn’t take any clothes. She totally ignored me Majority of the outfits were branded. Never again I will go here if they have overload of work then DONT EXCEPT CLOTHES! And If you do then be respectful. You make me wait 30-40 min and then not taking anything is definitely not right and worth the time!
Merrily: I brought all my freshly laundered, folded clothing, waited an hour and an half and the majority was denied. None of them were stained/riped/ overly worn so when I inquired as to why -in general- clothes were not anccepted- the front desk woman said one of the reasons is they don’t take wrinkled clothing. Hard to have clothes inside a bin unwrinkled…also I don’t think they even bothered to look all the way into the box because when I returned home to refold the clothes the second half looked untouched and clothes that were brand new with tags still on hadn’t been selected. What an absolute waste of time.
Vivian Cash: Edited review: My original review was from 9 months ago. Since they are under new ownership now and responded to my previous review, I would love to give it another chance since I enjoyed shopping there before. I stopped after my last experience. Look forward to visiting under the new ownership. I appreciate the effort to already improve customer service so I changed the review rating :)I never write negative reviews but I have to on this one. I read the reviews before I came but decided to go take some of my super nice children’s clothes to sell. Took a full plastic tote that was clean and folded neatly, like they said they wanted. Even included a few pair of brand new baby shoes. Got there before they opened and after 2.5 hours I get a text that they are done. They rejected everything. Employees/cashiers were nice and I know they were just relaying the message from whoever made the decision. That’s the only nice thing I can say. Apparently my laundry detergent didn’t smell good enough for them. This was a complete waste of the one day I have off as a working mother. I’m only posting this to warn others so they don’t waste their time like I did. I liked shopping here but I will never go back. I can agree with the low rating for sure.
Brittany Williams: I have NEVER been more disappointed than I was today. I walked in with high hopes that it would be a great day to bring items in. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a nice young lady who was typing items in.her customers service was so welcoming and friendly, I wish I would have got her name but sadly her warm and welcoming service was over shadowed by the young lady who’s name I did get (Linsey) who was extremely rude and attitude was beyond unacceptable with the facial expressions to match! At the time she was complaining about a buy that was not mine right in front of the customer who brought the items in. Stating how “it’s all taped together, what am I supposed to do with this” “now I’ going to have to stand here and untape everything” minding you all this was said aggressively and very loud. Not even 3mins later she walks back up saying she not taken any of it because of the tape “they need to take it all back!” I also didn’t know about the 3 bins a day rule which at the time I had brought in 3 and had one more left when the nice young lady let me know the rule. But before she could finish Linsey rudely said “that’s 3” Which as a former ONCE UPON CHILD EMPLOYEE/ KEYHOLDER at a different location I definitely understand but it was the way it was presented and the attitude behind it. Once I heard all of that I knew my things wouldn’t be looked at in the proper manner but still with high hopes I signed paperwork and left! I came back picked up my items and was shocked when I saw things that may have been wore once back inside my bins I was very disappointed! My honest opinion she’s didn’t thoroughly go through the items! There are a few employees that are amazing with excellent customer service but it’s employees such as Linsey that would make me not want to visit this location when she is looking at items or working a register. I’m sure she has potential but her attitude is concerning! Thank you for your time!
Carin Scheetz: Wouldn’t let my 5 year old use the bathroom even though she was crying. Sent us on a wild goose chase for a toilet - dollar tree didn’t have a light in their bathroom and it was disgusting. Also - the clothing quality here can very sketchy and the clothing with pilling is way over priced.Won’t go back to this location.
Therese Mowrer: Fast and easy service, will return to sell more items.
Ash Cole: Went to store to sell clothes on a Monday only to be told they now only buy on Tuesday and Thursday. I was a little annoyed but easily agreed to come back the next day with the same bin I had at that time. (I spent a decent amount of time talking to the manager about their low staff and even filled out an application) there was ample time for them to tell me I needed to change anything before coming back.. the next day when I came back, they told me my bin was too big and needed to be sorted through which I have already done. I vocalized this to still be turned away by the rudest owner I have ever met. IF YOU DONT WANT TO WORK, DONT. Close the store and stop wasting people's time.
Brooke Flood: Love this store!!
matthew bailey: I'm only giving a one star because there is no option for 0 stars. This place is horrible. The clothes are stained and smell funny. We did purchase a toy. However they left the batteries in it and when we got home and opened it the toy didn't work due to the batteries corroding. We tried to return it and the staff was completely rude. Stay away from this place it is bad business.
Tia: So I went in and they told me they couldn’t service me because my bin was too big. Mind you this is the only container I had to hold this small amount of clothes because they don’t accept clothes in bags; but they wouldn’t have known that without seeing it but only went off the fact that the bin was too big to fit on the counter. You only get 1 star because no estar isn’t an option
Mirella Hernandez: the store is closed....out of business
Alberta Anthony: I don’t typically write reviews but this is the third time coming there and receiving bad customer service. First off no one ever looks like they want to be there or actually be of help. I went in today with freshly washed clothes folded in a basket some worn, some never worn. After about 2 hours I came back and maybe 1 or 2 of my items were bought. When I asked what exactly made them turn away my whole bin of clothes, she went on to say the clothes have to be freshly worn. So I pointed out a few items in the store that were way more worn that anything I had in the basket. The lady then told me she didn’t have time to go through the basket if it was all going to be worn items. So I pulled a pair of new shorts from the top of the pile and asked about it and she let me know she didn’t even bother to go through the bin and that I should further sort through the bin because she doesn’t have time. Im confused as to what exactly the job is if not to sort through clothes. The lack of customer service, business etiquette, and compassion at this store really puts a bad name on the franchise. Of course the service is convenient but I shouldn’t be forced to take bad attitudes with the service.
chad clark: Was turned away for having too many clothes for them to look through. But isn't that the point of the store? Weather its 100 items from 1 person or 50 items each from two people its the same amount of items. Also being told it'll take multiple hours to get through your items but you have to be back to the store with in minutes of being notified they are finished seems ridiculous as well.
Amir A.: If it can be no stars I would. Do not take your close to them. They robbed my wife who barley speaks English of 3 huge boxes of cloths. The employees extremely rude, the owner extremely rude.My wife dropped off the cloth and was told 3 days for a quote. She gave them her number 3 times to make sure it’s correct but they claim they have the wrong numberThey took our kids cloth and claimed it was donated but we have pictures of them hanging up for sale inside the store.I asked for a copy of the so called signed document, they would not provide it to us because she didn’t sign anything. They have done this multiple times to people read their reviewsDon’t give them your business horrible peopleWe did not sign anything, i asked you to provide that document you are stating but you and 2 (managers) refused. Also you are stating you kept my items for 4 days? We dropped the items off on Thursday and came in on Sunday but was told that they are gone. What happened to the 4 days?
Eakta khanna: This was my first time with the ‘Once Upon a Child’ Raleigh location. I won't lie I was a bit skeptical looking at the negative reviews... I'm sorry for all the negative reviews here but for me, it was the smoothest process ever! I did call ahead to make sure how they want the clothes to be etc. I did sort them and put everything in the plastic bin, dropped, and within 2 hrs or so I was called to collect my bin and returned clothing items... All in all, I had a great experience, oh the staff was polite as well!
Maritza Quiles: Updated review: just stop selling your stuff here and buying. I'm over the problems with this store it's been several times in the past few months back to back problems everytime I go it's worse and worse clothes are janky, no one has the same taste and a lot of it is just not up to PAR. When I sell my stuff I pretty much get low ball things to be maybe up to 60$ but lately I haven't even been getting that I gave in the past and i know my items are up to PAR. Get on the same level I don't even know how this store is open and I've been coming here for the past two years horrible ! I spend at least anywhere to $50-$200 everytime I come at the end of the day it's not about the money it's the quality I want the items to be in.Old:Most organized and not overwhelming ! i've been to several stores in different states that i've lived in and everytime I look around makes me not want to touch anything nor do i ever leave with anything. This one i spent over $100 and left with clothes for both my kids and a few extra items. I will be back !!!
Taylor Sullivan: Absolutely one of the worst businesses in Raleigh. We sold totes of things to this place with no issue. We went back up a few weeks later on a Wednesday only to be told they ''no longer buy on Wednesday's due to staffing issues." We live over an hour from here so that was a wasted trip. Decided to go back and give it one more try and they said all clothes need to be freshly laundered, so they wouldn't buy anything from us. It was the exact same as the bins from the previous time they purchased. Awful management and awful customer service. I will NEVER go back here, but I'm sure that makes them happy so they don't have to deal with a customer!
Fuller Family: WILL NEVER RETURN; DANICA (SP?) THREW A TOTE AT ME IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN.Came into the store on 10/14/22 to browse for daycare clothes. Store associate, Danica who looked like she was cracked out, rudely asked me to move so she could put clothes away at the rack I was already thumbing through. I obliged, stepped aside, and when she returned to get more clothes from her tote I returned to where I was previously shopping. She dramatically stormed off and muttered to another coworker that she would “just have to do her job later”… “because THEY’RE in the WAY” motioning to me and my children. I politely asked if there was an issue with me looking at clothes today, because I’d be happy to return later if there was an issue. My husband then came around the corner also asking what the issue was except he approached the counter whereas I was still shopping in the aisle. The staff immediately started yelling to get out, as if we had instigated the situation. I dropped the clothes I had in the middle of the aisle and walked out, turning to another shopper to apologize for what had transpired in front of her child as well; it was unacceptable. As I turned back around the store associate picked the tote up and threw it at me but caught it before it hit me and told me I was lucky she was on the clock, insinuating she was going to fight me. I continued out the door and called corporate; they explained each store is independently owned but they would reach out to the owner. I asked for the owner to PLEASE give me a call. As of 10/25/22 she has still not called me and doesn’t seem to have an issue with her employees treating customers this way.
Natalie Szafarz: Super Rude staff. First time there and knew nothing about the process. Asked questions regarding the process, timeline of processing typically, and lady “couldn’t tell me anything”. They seem extremely overwhelmed and stressed. Principle is everything and I would honestly rather donate my things than make a whole $10 and be made to feel like I’m an inconvenience for this business. Shame. After leaving I read the previous reviews and some of the owner’s responses. Seems as though there is zero accountability and a whole host of excuses…something from the owner eluding to being aware of the “staffing issue” and that nothing can be done about it until society stops getting checks from the government and refusing to have work ethic. Super Professional! Here’s an idea…why don’t you as a business owner get behind the counter and set the tone…oh wait..you seem to be doing that according to the responses in these reviews. I don’t anticipate this business to be around much longer.
Rebeca Oviedo: This place is ok. Def a hit or miss. There was a lady behind the counter coughing the whole time (not covering her mouth) I was there on the clothes she was going through and I was just so grossed out by that. Some prices are outrageous, might as well buy it new.
Danielle Mercado: WOW... and not in a good way 😵 I have bought and shopped her multiple times and never had an issue... The last few times i have come in I can not say the say.I walked in with baby clothes to sell they were in a cute reusuable tote 🛍 from Marshalls and a baby in my arms 👶...Upon entering no one looked up or attempted to greet me. They just went about whatever they were doing. Finally when I got someone to acknowledged me and I said I had clothes to sell, they turned me away because my clothes were in a tote bag instead of a box or container. 🤯 I explained to them that it is not easy to carry a big container or box around with a baby 🤹‍♂️ Asked the manager if she would accept them after the other ladies said no. She was rude and didnt care and would not accept them.I then ran over to the dollar store spent money there on a laundry basket just to be able to have them take my baby clothes to look at. I came back trying to carry baby, bag and basket... the proceeded to put the close into the basket and then they tell me it is filled to much and I need to remove half of the clothes that I put in it 🤦‍♀️. Oh and behind the counter was a massive stack of empty plastic bins, so I'm not sure why one of those couldnt be used... 😡So I removed half of them, they take them and I'm told oh and its a two hour wait and you must be back within 10 minutes of us texting you. 😮‍💨When I went to check out, the associates all seemed unhappy and were not pleasant to deal with. I felt like I was inconveniencing everyone and I felt uncomfortable just for being there. The entire experience was unpleasant and made it harder to go shopping with a child then easier. Sad to say but I will not be going back. I'm sure with this kind of customer service and experience they will not last long.🤷‍♀️

KidsEveryWear Consignment Sale: what do users think?
Ladystardust04: AWESOME
Amber D: Always a great sale. Have gone every year for the past 4 years. Saved so much money getting clothes and toys for my son and daughter.
Jenny Key: I love this sale! They always have the best selection and prices! Very organized too!
Laura Adams: We love Kids Exchange! I have shopped for five years and am always happy with my finds.
Krystal Reid: I just love the Kids Exchange!! Easy to sell, great to shop and just an overall great experience.
Gina Guckavan: I love shopping & consigning with kids exchange! This sale is huge and I always find great treasures and gifts for my kids. I love that I can shop knowing my money is supporting another mom like me. It's also a great way to clear out some things we no longer use and make a little extra cash!
Ashley Smith: This is the best kid’s consignment sale in Raleigh, NC!
Katelyn Woodcock: Best consignment sale for kids in the area! Very well organized with such a wide variety of items at fantastic prices.
Elizabeth Wise: I keep coming back! This is, by far, the best way to recycle! Support local parents, and find excellent deals on the next sizes up for your child.
Tiffany Kellogg: This is a great, organized sale. I love how I can sell my old clothes and get new clothes for my kids. Every six months I get so excited to see what deal I am going to find.
Kali Tunstall: Great deals and tons of options! I stock up on clothes every 6 months!
John and Debbi Baltz: We love this sale! It's huge, so you must come with a little time and a lot of patience, but it's always worth it! I used to just shop, then I started to sell (that was awesome because I usually make back at least as much as I spend if not more - even double), and now I volunteer to work as well because I can shop early before the crowds arrive or get paid for my shift. They literally have just about everything you could need, and for the most part you can't beat the prices (which we, the sellers, are responsible for setting). It's also super organized, and even when check out lines get long they move crazy amounts of people with crazy amounts of items to purchase through so fast. I'm always amazed! It's just very fun!!
Morgan Leathers: Absolutely love this sale! From a seller and buyers point of view it’s the best one I’ve ever been to!!! I saved so much money from toys to outfits to my sons shoes! I don’t purchase any other clothing throughout the year! I’d rather stock up here and save 100’s! Plus I sell my sons stuff so I really end up making money!
Alyssa Sterling: Such a huge and awesome sale! I’ve found so many great things for my kids, from books to strollers to clothes. They make the shopping and selling experience headache free and fun! Even after moving further outside Raleigh, I still make my way back to the KX every sale.
Ryan Butner: Could not love this consignment more!!! For the past 6 years I have been going to everyone of these to buy the next seasons clothes for my kids. This year I decided to start selling as well and they make it so easy and fun to do!! If you haven't been you definitely need to go!
Allison Nordan: So many hidden treasures here. Kids grow fast and this is a great place to find everything you need!
Amber Danchak: Went on half price day with my mom and mother-in-law and had the best day! It was so much fun and so easy to navigate with so many deals left to be found! Needless to say, my boys are stocked up on clothes and ready for the fall and winter seasons!!
Kala Bacon: Love this place! I sell and buy almost every sale! Definitely a must see place to go and shop for your children.
Karen Danchak: Always a great selection and always looking forward to the next event.
Nichole Deane: I look forward to coming twice a year, every year for the last 10 years. I love the deals but also like teaching my kids that shopping second hand is good for the wallet and the environment, not everything needs to come from Walmart/target/Amazon. They really enjoyed coming with me this year and finding “way better stuff than at Walmart” said my 10 year old.
Erin Thayer: We love this sale! We have been coming for over 9 years! We never miss a sale!

Retails Thrift Shop: what do users think?
Kaitlyn Smith: Selfishly I have not wanted to give this place a higher rating because I don’t want more people finding and loving it ;) this by far is one of my favorite local thrift shops. Love the variety and organization. The staff is always very friendly. Also a big fan of the cause they support
M. Kat: Love visiting this thrift store when I'm in the area to both donate items to and shop with. Supports shelter animals, well organized and great items and prices.
e Montalvo: I luv this spot always finding pieces to add to my expansive silver jewelry collection. My newest piece is a Ralph Lauren silver equestrian inspired bracelet. I have been looking for this piece on ebay and poshmark to no avail. It is absolutely gorgeous in person it shines very well and compliments have been raving about my thrift store prize.
Bill Albing: Nice size, clean, and well lit thrift store with a bit if everything. More books than I expected which was a pleasant surprise for me. Friendly cashiers.
Annette Dowdy: Awesome store! You can get a wide variety of clothing, books, household items, bedding, pet items, etc.
Han Stw: Great thrift store. The book section is very organized (by genres) which made it easy to browse through. They also have other items like clothings (although not a whole lot of men items), electronic appliances, knick knack, some furnitures, greeting cards and others. Proceeds go towards animal welfare nonprofits (Animalkind in Raleigh). Friendly staff members!
Lillian Overton: Like all thrift shope, it's like an Easter egg hunt, you never know what you will find. Good place.
Jeane Claudelle Rousselot: I would give it a two, and only raised it to a three because I'm hoping the majority of the money goes towards its cause for animals.
Daniel Payne: Amazing & helpful staff, was a wonderful experience! Would definitely recommend. One associate saw what I was purchasing and suggested a few items I hadn't seen. Huge plus! Will definitely be back.
Victzaida Valerio: Excellent store for shopping.
Darryl Cady: Went there yesterday, they had a flip the coin day heads 50 percent off tails 25 percent off good deal.
Gabriela Candia: The manager, cashiers and the whole staff is awesome!!! I have seen the same manager working for many years and he speaks Spanish and English! He is very helpful with all clients and I don't know why some people have to say bad things. Anyway, the store is fantastic and they are all excellent people. I have been coming to this store since my daughter was 6 years old and now she is 17 before it was located in another address and move more closer to my home. I continue coming back because it's one of the best thrift stores I've been to in Wake County!
Eric Reynolds: Attempted to go by during posted business hours. They were closed.
Miss Tee: Very nice and organized. Calendar is provided so you know what day to go to get a great deal. Will be revisiting again.
Karen Hare: Love this thrift store! Always good stuff and nice people.
John Barker: Love finding stuff and it's for a good cause great store 17 years old today
David Smith: Got stuff at 50% off today!
Gil Fdz: Lost of goods things you can find really good stuff ...you never know!
Gabriela Candia Perez: Great cause and excellent items in sale, they have bilinguals staff. Personal is friendly and very helpful
Yesica Alvarez: Bien caro todo ahi
Darrell D: Decent prices. Older lady there kept following me around the store asking if I was going to buy something. The item was in a Ziploc bag and she was telling me that she had to take it back because someone had broken the ziplock bag. Even though the bag had a zipper and could be opened regardless. She couldn't process that the bag opened so it didn't matter if the bag was torn.
