Dragana Djuricic Mendel: Beware- wait times on the DMV web site is for the time you are allowed to enter the building until you get called for a service! Walk-ins, the only way to get anything done these days and online appointments are unavailable for months, wait outside for 2-5 hours before they are even allowed to enter the building! This location is terribly understaffed. Apparently, the line moves faster in Saturdays. Good luck.

keli phenix: i would rate one star if it weren’t for the nice driving instructor & a lady who works there, was off today but volunteered to come in. they need a raise, however the lady with red hair & at station 8 needs to rethink her job choice.she was rude the entire process. she yelled at my partner to “put his phone away” & “that SHE would instruct him when he would need his phone” when he was trying to show her proof that the vehicle he was driving was registered. after coming back from the test, i called him to see what was going on while he was inside, & she yelled at him saying “get off your phone, there’s people testing”. i get not wanting someone to be on a call while there’s people in there taking a test, but there’s nicer ways to communicate that.between this location & the new burn ave location, their service is terrible. if you’re looking for nice staff, save your time & go to a different location.

Rob N: I went here as a Saturday walk in. I cannot express just how smooth the Saturday crew ran this office. I got there about 15 mins early and was in and out in less than an hour. If all you need is a renewal or real ID this is a great place to go.

Puneet Agarwal: I was there on Wednesday May31. I arrived at 5:30am for office to open at 7. I was first in line. The line gets really big real fast. The supervisor was very helpful and had clear line of communication. He came out twice before 7 and said that they will let 4 walk-ins in at one time and as they get done then another 4 will be allowed. These 4 will only receive service if people with appointments canceled. I was in the lobby at 7:05 and with the agent helping with my drivers license at 7:07 am. So were other 3 people behind me. One of the staff members showed up a little late and were strolling instead of finding a station and calling people to help. Certainly not efficient staff but very friendly and nice. They took their time and got my license done. They are short staffed and have new crew working and learning. Other trained staff is trying to help them as they go. Obviously difficult situation but they are doing the best they can. Supervisor is amazing! They better not loose him. This DMV will fall apart if he left. Thank you DMV Staff

Rebecca Patel: Summary: Got there 7am and waited 6 hours. My advice is to get there early and clear your plans for the day.I arrived at 7am this morning, and was roughly 11th in the walk-in line. I was able to enter the building at 0945 and then got my ticket. I was seen at 1230ish. The renewal took probably 10 minutes.My advice:• Get there early!! Before 0730!Even though walk ins begin at 12 (per DMV), do not go there at 11 and expect to be seen. People are arriving all morning and the line forms pretty quickly. There were people who got there at 8ish still waiting outside at 1245 as I was leaving.• Don't expect to be in and out. Go on a day off from work or take the day off. I know this is easier said than done. They will be opening Saturdays this coming Saturday (per an employee). He said the office will be fully staffed, but still come earlier and be prepared to wait as not all DMVs will be open.• Find our what paperwork you need. I seen a few people get turned away after waiting 2+hours because they were missing something. If needed, bring a HARDCOPY of your insurance. They won't accept electronic copiesThe employees of this location were friendly and were prompt in updating those in line of the process and what to expect. They understand the frustration from the public and just ask for understanding from their viewpoint. After all, the ones who are working are the ones who actually showed up and didn't call out. 5* for employees

Micheal Paredes: The worst experience I've ever had at a DMV. Waited 4 hours to be seen to get my sisters license when we had an appointment at 8am. The lady was so sweet at the desk but she went on lunch and the manager came out he was very rude and sent us away and told us not to come back tomorrow. He also said that customers are the reason they are short staffed because we are all rude to them. We were not rude in the slightest my sister was obviously upset because she missed school to be there and was crying just for him to keep cutting her off and not listening he just kept saying he knows what's going on. (Which he obviously didn't) just for him to waste our time and then cancel the new appointment for tomorrow. DO NOT WASTE YOURE TIME HERE. I'd rather drive 4 hours away and be treated like a human then go back to this place for anything.

Yuna: Very clean, spacious, and is night and day from Cary. The gentleman at the front desk was so nice and helpful!!!!
Tommy Watson: For a Saturday opening, they did the best that they could! Easily over 100 people in line. The biggest problem I saw were people not following instructions. The staff was fast and efficient!
Jennifer Wade: Just left this office and had the best experience with Jennifer. She was so kind and personable! I felt bad for her because 2 of her coworkers were arguing with each and it was stressing her out. She said she likes to come to work and do her job, do it well and not have to deal with hostile coworkers who are arguing with each other in front of other coworkers not to mention the customers. While we were at her station one of the coworkers was walking behind her saying” did he really say that to me, I’ll go have him say it to my face.” Jennifer said “ sorry you had to hear that, wish they would stop arguing all of the time.” Hope someone sees this and can change the work environment.

There were 8 ppl at 6 a.m., 15 ppl at 6:30 a.m. and a lot, lot of people after 7 a.m. I went in as the door opened at 7, was called at 7:20 and left around 7:40. Btw, they will serve appointments first.In comparison, I went the Durham DMV earlier this week, arrived at 1 pm and waited for 1 hour but left because the line never moved. So I guess arriving in the morning just give you a higher chance.2. Check all the required documents and bring them with you!!! When waiting in the line, there is a male officer coming to check the service you needed and corresponding documents with you. I see some people left because they did not bring correct documents. Also, bring the *HARDCOPY* instead of electronic versions because they need to scan the docs!!! They do NOT accept any electronic docs.3. Bringing some necessities like water or a camping chair will make the process more comfortable.Good luck to everyone ^^
Amy Qiao: Went there on June 23 to renew my driver license, there were 15ish people waiting in line. Got in and took a number after more than a hour and waited another hour to see a staff. If you don’t have an appointment, prepare at least 3 hrs to get things done. Bring a bottle of water!
ACB Arun Chand Balakrishnan: I recommend this DMV for every one, reason is the organised way of handling people in here, especially the officer "Tina". As we know it's very difficult to get appointment as the backlog is more, i decided to walk in, was there at 6.15 am, at 10th position, was but cold out there. Tina arrived and was very courteous to who ever was standing in line. Made sure we don't stand in the line with out any needed documents and waste our day, she gave all the instructions. And in every stage in the process inside was smooth and faster..indeed relatively faster than in zootopiah movie ( 😂 ). We need such officers in every DMV.

Ashwini Gowda: Every DMV experience is different - mine is a walk-in on a Friday afternoon. If you don't have an appointment, be prepared to wait. The lady letting people in and issuing tokens was pleasant and kind. She kept people in the line outside the office informed about current status inside the office. I went to this office for a DL renewal and made it on the 27th spot in the line outside the DMV at 1:45 on a Friday afternoon with very little hope that I would even make it inside. I made it inside the office and got a token at 3:15 and was called by an officer at 4:40. That was around 3 hours to get my license renewed without an appointment. The officer inside was patient and got through all that was needed in less than 10 minutes. Be sure to carry a bottle of water and a snack if you plan to go for a walk-in. The people working the office are there to help and be patient with them as they process you and the many people.
Janeanne Josephson: Took my son for his behind the wheel test for his license today. Stood in line for over 5 hours and then they came outside and said they wouldn't be able to get to us today. Took time off work and school to do this. Horrible service. They should have come outside at 10:45 this morning and cut off the line at some point so we didn't wait five hours and waste the entire day.

The online system shows no available appointments for next 90 days. The office closes at 5pm. But they start winding up by 4:15pm itself.
David Jenkins: My wife and I were at the Avent Ferry location of NCDMV this morning shortly after 6:30 AM. There was a line outside, but it wasn't terribly long. It gave us a chance to meet and chat with a couple other customers. By about 8:00 AM, we were inside and had been assigned a control number. The staff person who helped us was Jennifer. She was extremely pleasant and helpful. The name of the staff person who served us was Rhonda. She was super-nice and efficient as well. To be honest, we were expecting a bad experience, but we were wrong. It turned out to be an enjoyable experience! Thank you Jennifer and Rhonda! BTW, for a Real ID, the only documents required for my wife were her birth certificate and our marriage license for a name change, but I would suggest that you take all they suggest.

Nathan Messer: Multiple people have stopped here trying to get title work done before the holiday and they are closed without any notification online.
Susan Harper: If I could give no stars I would. I took time off from work only to find the office closed (it was not indicated on the website). A sign was taped to the door that the office would be closed Monday 7/3, Tuesday 7/4 AND Wednesday 7/5. I don't believe I was the only person to have wasted my time coming to this office, as I saw several people enter the South Hills Mall area and immediately turn around and leave. This is not the first time I have been disappointed with this location. We used to use the satellite office in Holly Springs, NC, but that one got closed.

Business AsUsual: Line moved at a fast pace, this was such a pleasant site. The website says they open 8:30 but they were 20 deep when l arrived. But l was out 8:45. And as a bonus, my checkout lady was super nice.
Destinee Gonzalez: The lines went really fast which was great, but the customer service attitude was poor. I had received my new license, directions on how to transfer my title from the bank and then even received a confirmation call to follow-up at this location to register my car. However, when it was my turn the lady came off as rude whether it was intentional or not. I was trying to explain what steps I took and she just said nope. I can get you started if you have xyz but I need to keep the line moving, you can stand off to the side if you come back. No interest in actually helping me through it. Luckily my tags from my old state were within the time frame that I didn’t need to figure out the title issue. I ended up standing in line again hoping for a different person rather than the same lady. Prior to waiting again it was disheartening to watch her kindly and patiently help a few people before me with a smile and laughter. However, when I got back up there again it was straight back to quickly trying to get past me. She told me nope we don’t get information sent here not sure where it was sent. Doesn’t make sense considering I received a call from my lien to go to this address because they sent my information over. They were following up with me because they received a call on this locations end. Not sure what happened but the lady didn’t have the time of day or car in the world to help. If you have information sent I would call and confirm ahead of time to avoid the his situation.Update: now receiving a call that my title was failed to switch over. Due to their poor customer service I now have to go back. They don’t answer the phone either to answer questions. Absolutely ridiculous.

While keeping to the rules, they are helpful and point you to where you need, giving you the info and patience to get your title and tag work done with relative ease. Don't be discouraged by the line for titles, it does move fairly smoothly. Most people are in and out Fairly quickly.
Matt Rogers: Shortline got right in clear, concise and helped me out where they could. I really issue with the DMV as it can be difficult to find the information you need before you go. However, when you get there they all know what they're doing pretty well.

C F: Got in line midday with about 6 people ahead of me and waited approx. 10 minutes. The woman at the counter was helpful and efficient with my duplicate title request. Form was filled in for me and printed, and all I had to do was sign and pay the fee by card. Notary service was $7 cash. I was pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy the process was!

We has wrong date on insurance form (ridiculous specific DMV rule) but Stephanie was awesome and helped us out, allowed us to have another form faxed from insurance and then brought us to the front of the line, solved all of our issues. Hold on to Stephanie! She is a customer service gem.NOTE: Bring cash for notary fees!

How can we do that if we can't even get in the buildings? And I'm not driving all over NC just for a DMV that is up to par. Until yall can learn how to operate your locations to ensure customers and RES of your state can obtain these docs in a timely fashion, you'll forever be backed up and weak providing services. Annie Cullom: Very kind and adaptive workers! If you are looking to come for a walk in road test do not even try if you are not in line by 12 noon. We tried on at 3 Monday and were told we could not be helped so we came back the next day at 12:30 and they were able to get us in last minute. Keep in mind the whole process took from 12:30 to 4:30, be prepared for a long day outside the DMV. The staff were all so patient, kind, and encouraging. We ran into a bit of a problem but they helped me solve it instead of turning us away. Overall great experience (for a DMV) BUT MAKE SURE TO COME VERY EARLY.

mandesa smith: If I could rate 0 stars I would. The black men in this facility are disgustingly rude, entitled, and disrespectful. Their jobs have gone to their head! The supervisor threatened to call the police twice. He walked out the door as I left and told the officer to call the police if I came back. All I went in asking for was a Saturday appointment because I had been turned away twice and I could not get an appointment online. I didn't raise my voice, curse, or have an attitude. I firmly stated my story and what I needed help with. They threatened my life. I've never been so mistreated in my life!!! If I was Sally with blonde hair they would have helped me. Absolute disgraceful place. Avoid this place at all costs if your a black woman. I tried to file a complaint and the lying customer service representative never sent me the form! This place is worse than garbage!

Micro Chip: Not sure who is in charge of adding in the all way stops at every intersection in NC but you are creating more of a problem and extra spending on jacked up gas prices. Can't even fix the roads but can add stop signs.

Stephanie Lee: I went to get my real id and they started calling numbers in random order. You cannot do that. You need to call numbers in an orderly manner based on first come first serve. Need come up with a better system. Also, why are the examiners speak to you in such a rude manner? I had to help my dad duplicate his license and get his real ID. When I confirmed with the examiner to make sure that my dad got his real ID, she was so rude and said, “that’s what you asked for.” I can’t confirm with you to make sure I get the correct license? If you want respect then be respectful… because respect is earned. Plus when there was a point when no appointments came in. However one of the examiner was busy trying to fix a computer than checking in the walk ins and get them out…. So this tells me that they are more worried about their computers than the people who are waiting.
Sky Palmer: Angry brothers in uniform abuse the little bit of authority they have. Came to get info because I’m from out of State. Pushed out the door to buck jones location without any dialogue. The 2 middle age African American males working today that I encountered are more suitable working as TSA agents or maybe Correctional Officers. I felt belittled and embarrassed by the spectacle they created.

I was done in a hour my husband waited 4 1/2 hours without a appointment. Thank God we had everything we needed so thing went smoothly. I give the supervisors and all of the examiners a lot of credit for putting up with some of the public they have to deal with. I must say it was entertaining.
Traveling Mama: Worst place ever, my daughter needed a ID we arrived at 8.30am the line was outside to the end of the block, after standing in the hot sun for 1 and a half hour we could go inside we waited 2 more hours for a ticket then 1 hour to get called to the desk needless to say we didn't get out until 1:00 pm, the worst !!! people were sitting on the floors and the window seals just horrible I've lived in NJ and this DMV was worst thant the one in Newark NJ !!!Pay the workers better and build more updated facilities do better cary NC

Texas and Utah are so much simpler and faster.- No appointments available online for over 3 months- The walk in appointment will take 2 hrs to get the QR code for and post you they will take atleast 3-4 hrs to see. They might also ask you you to come next day.Better of having a license from other state.Raleigh is a bad experience overall.

If you follow rules then process goes smoothly.On my recent visit due to system issue they could not provide me license renewal and they accommodated me next time as they promised. keli phenix: today has been the most infuriating experience with the dmv. my partner is currently trying to get their full drivers license, we looked on the dmv website last night & it says they accept walk-ins after 12pm to 5pm.we went to the dmv at 12pm & a lady let my partner know they were not taking any walk-ins until after 2:00-2:30pm. we waited around the area until heading back to the dmv around 1:50pm. my partner went back in to wait in line & the same lady then said “road tests services are only available before 11am”. this lady did not clarify they were not taking driven tests after 11am when my partner first went in, as she was just trying to clear the room of walk-ins.my partner then called the NC dmv service line & confirmed that walk-ins are supposed to be carried out from 12:00-5:00pm, including the driving portions. she stated that this location was making their own rules as they weren’t following the instructions. my partner then asked about the spring forest location & she confirmed they should still be doing road test walk-ins. we drove there & of course, they weren’t either.we have spent half our day, wasting our time on people who did not provide the correct & necessary information. i do not recommend coming here. the staff here are standoffish, unwelcoming & unwilling to help.

Alex Alcantara: Just got my license plate and drivers licenses renewed in under 45 mins. I think the key is to come early (there was already a long line at 8am) and make sure to bring all of your docs. The 5 people I interacted with were all professional and pleasant . The drivers license front desk was a bit brusk but she kinda has to be with fielding the very many questions and people not listening. All in all very good experience.
Mark Finnicum: Had an appointment for son to get level 3 license, which we set months ago. We are waiting over an hour. Took 20 minutes for a Government employee of DMV to actually show themselves at the front desk. Unbelievable how poorly run the DMV is.
Skyrim Shuffle: Initially, I was disappointed with how the staff treated everyone in the dmv... While they were direct, they came off rude. I understand that people don't listen, so I absolutely understand why they have to be so direct. However, Birdino was a breath of fresh air. She was so pleasant, patient, and kind. She turned my entire experience around.At the end of the day... Just come prepared, bring all of the necessary documents you need, and just BE KIND.

Catlan Hua: You have to make an appointment online 3 months in advance. They currently only take walk-ins on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 - 10:00. The facility itself is quite big, but unfortunately they are understaffed. When I was there, there were only 2 receptionists and 4 people working in the back. It took 1 hour for us, who had an appointment, to get a license renewal. I completely understand why they can't be friendly and all since they have to deal with people all day. As long as they do their job, I don't have any complains.However, there's definitely room for improvement. For starters, the DMV website and Google page should have info on when they take walk-ins. I saw multiple people going in just to get turned away because they no longer take walk-ins like how they used to. This saves the workers  and visitors to the DMV a lot of time. The website should also have a better appointment booking system. When I tried to make an appointment, the site did not show any availability nearby so I had to click through a bunch of places and finally found this location, which only showed 1 available date. Why not show the availability of the entire year or at least the next 6 months for all locations? I hope the NC government is going to improve their system to make DMV experience much better for all of us taxpayers.

Parker: Absolutely terrible attitude… the front desk attendant for the left side (drivers license) just treats you like you’re stupid and waits for a reason to turn you away. In no way is she trying to help and is so rude I wanted to include curse words. The right side desk is much more pleasant and helpful but they will make you visit serval times before anything is solved. I wrongfully had my license suspended and they just play the blame game until you do their jobs for them. Our DMV is such a joke for the whole state…. Come on NC.
Veronica: I had an appointment at 11:00 and had to wait awhile to get checked in but once I got checked in it didn’t take me long to see the examiner. It was pretty quick. Its best if you can make an appointment first. If you don’t have an appointment you will have to wait outside.
Viktor Dariy: Went in a week ago to get a title transferred into my name and the lady that was helping me was looking over my paperwork for 30mins to find something wrong.. then when she didn’t she went over to her manager to make sure everything was ok.. and of course they find the smallest thing wrong with the paperwork and send me home without helping me at all.. drove 4 hrs from asheville planning on getting an instant title but was left very disappointed with this department and the manager.. would not recommend going to this dmv!
Lucy L: It really depends on the officer you are assigned to work with. Quality of service varies A LOT. I have been to this DMV several times and found that the officers inside come out at the front desk when they get a chance and most of them are quite firm and unflexible. Most of the officers seem to be cold but there's one lady, little short with a ponytail, very understanding and kind. I failed the road test and felt bad and nervous for accidentally scared her on the road. But she was still encouraged me and said I will get there, just need more practice. Although you might not be assigned to this lady, just remember that as long as you practiced and know what to do, they won't fail you. They want a good time too, if you are relaxed and prepared, they are relaxed and easy on you too! Best wishes everyone for taking the road test.
Milq - Gaming: This is a government office that operates like a cartel and treats people poorly,wonder if the neighborhood has anything to do with it!Very rude lady yelling at everyone coming through the door asking if they have appointments.Update: To save your time, just drive 5 miles to the DMV on Spring Forest road.We drove over and met the nicest and efficient DMV workers who regard human beings.
Elizabeth Hwang: Be prepared to wait a few hours with an appointment. I had a woman examiner with a rude attitude for my road test as she looked like she really did not want to be there at all. Tossing around my paperwork, crossing her arms in an annoyed manner, and just overall rude. However, I ended up passing my road test, so I’m glad about that.
Rosa McDonald: The slowest and most unorganized registration and title DMV I have ever been to! Will drive an extra distance to not come to this one again!!

God of poop: Terrible experience, made an appointment for a driving license and waited outside 10 minutes until a lady came out only to tell me to get the insurance. So I got the insurance and waited for my appointment inside for 1 hour and 30 minutes. By the time they asked for my papers and insurance papers, then they said the paper was unreadable (because their fax didn’t work). I then had to call the insurance company to fax another paper. I had to wait an additional 30 minutes until I finally could meet with the examiner

C I: I recently moved out of state to Raleigh and this is by FAR the worst DMV I've ever experienced. The state of NC is not operating a sustainable system having people wait HOURS...for something as simple as getting a license? There were only 4 people serving with long lines outside. Elderly people who cant stand long or walk far having to wait outside in the heat is ridiculous!! I waited more than 3 hours just to get a new license and tried 2x to visit. With the requirement to get a new license in 60 days and appointments going 3 months out is absurb! Someone needs to change this system fast or should be sued because this is putting WAY to much on the staff and citizens. Do better NC!

An hour into my waiting & I've seen one person come outside. This is an extremely inefficient location.
