Back-to-One Acting Studio & Productions: what do users think?
Link G: If you're into acting, want to learn about the industry, or want to get better at acting then I'd highly suggest the classes and facilities here! I genuinely felt welcomed by EVERYONE I met here.
Corelove Sed: Back-To-One Acting Studio and Productions offers so many great classes taught by highly trained professionals in the industry. I’m very new to acting and I’ve already learned so much from my 1st class. Daryl and Bronwen are amazing teachers. As a novice I was really nervous to get up and perform in front of other people but everyone is so supportive and encouraging that it’s really helped my confidence. I’m currently taking my 2nd class and look forward to taking many more classes. I love that Back-To -One not only teaches classes but also goes through everything it takes to get into the acting world, such as, how to audition; what wear to an audition; headshots, audition opportunities (booking work); acting resumes; taped monologues; how to act in front of the camera…. and so much more. I originally joined these classes just for fun but now have seen how much it’s benefited me as a person. I’ve made so many friends in class. I also learned that I can actually memorize my lines, since I haven’t had to remember anything in years!. My public speaking has improved drastically,, as well as, my confidence. Whether you’re interested in film, commercials or theatre, Back-To-One has it all! I highly recommend them!
Allison Simeon: I had a great time in the class that I took here. Chris Hill was an awesome instructor. He was very supportive, informative, encouraging, and helpful. All the students really appreciated him.
Blossoming Universe: Wow! We are very impressed with Back-to-One! Our daughter just completed a teen acting class with Carrie and Chris. We are very impressed with the professionalism, the thorough instruction, and the preparation for acting skills. Our daughter especially loved the improv part of the class where she was able to be creative in the moment with just one line given to create an improv sketch with a group. She also learned a lot from memorization and acting out a monologue. We are looking forward to more classes to help bring out her imagination and creative learning.
Brennan Cross: Thanks to Chris Hill's help in Commercial 1 class, I just booked a commercial for TV being shot here in Raleigh!
Patrick Durham: I took commercial acting I with Chris Hill and it was awesome. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot about commercial acting.
Seena Arafat: Back to one is very welcoming! Chris is great to start taking classes with he really does boost your confidence and makes you more comfortable with acting as well as helping you ground yourself to given circumstances
D'Alton Blackwell: Under Chris Hill’s teaching I have developed and grew my acting skills and abilities. With Chris as my instructor and mentor he has also helped me gain confidence in the craft and myself. Chris is an amazing teacher, coach, mentor and writer.Chris is passionate about acting and film as a whole. He brings great energy to every class and I enjoyed his class so much I took it 4 times. Thanks Chris!
Detron Phillips: Acting 2 class was a well thought out and structure class. There is not boundaries to how much you learn in a limited span of time. Chris is a phenomenal instructor.
Elizabeth Lucas: Back to One Acting Studio is the absolute best acting audio in the area. Not only are they professional, working with the best equipment, but they have highly successful instructors. Chris Hill a native of NC, has come back from California with so much to offer from all his accomplishments in the television and film industry while there. So many people of all ages are booking consistently after attending classes and taking advantage of all the studio has to offer. They are here to help launch and support your career.Come check it out. It’s truly Amazing!
Cody Morgan: Back-To-One Acting studios is an amazing environment to become the best version of yourself in your acting career. I’ve taken On-Screen Acting Level 1 and Level 2 primarily lead by Chris Hill who is exactly the type of coach you want as you begin or progress in your acting career. Chris is very talented and very personable and truly cares about you, your life and your goals no matter what they are.
lisa merritt: I cannot say enough about Back To One Studio and Bronwen Carson’s teaching abilities. I have been acting in community theatre productions in many different states for more years than I care to share. I hadn’t taken a true acting class since I was 22 yrs old and am now middle aged. I feel so fortunate to have found Bronwen’s scene study class. I have learned so much from her, that I question how I’ve done as much work as I have. I am currently in her Advanced Scene Study and her On Camera class. Loving every second of both. She has such an impressive resume. Bronwen is the real deal!
Andy Brewster: As a Raleigh-based producer that pulls together commercial shoots every month (with The 541 Co), BTO is quickly leading the way in cultivating some of the region's best talent. I and my company consistently look to BTO for referrals for casting projects and the students who come through here consistently deliver great performances and are great to work with on set. And, in guest visiting several classes and providing feedback to students on multiple occasions, I've been able to see first-hand how the coaches and staff go above and beyond to support students. If you're in Raleigh and looking to start or level-up your acting skills, don't sleep on BTO.
Hassan Darwish: I want to start off by saying I have been taking classes at Back to One since march of this year. I started with the Advanced scene study class with Bronwen Carson since then I have been taking the Advanced on camera and I can say that she has helped me gain more confidence in front of the camera as well as with my acting abilities. I still have a lot to work on and plan on taking classes with her for as long as I can before she leaves to back to NYC. If you ever were thinking of taking classes I cannot recommend her enough!!!
Marcus Brown: Was in town for the week; got a request to submit. Vetted every option in the region. Back to One was my first choice in all categories:- Professionalism- Convenience- Responsiveness- Industry ExperienceThe website and appointment process was sophisticated, the staff was responsive, and Daryl Ray gave me some insights I had missed myself.Very grateful. Highly recommend.MLB
Hannah Lawrence: I LOVE being at Back-to-One. I have been taking classes here since February and I am constantly learning something new. I’ve taken classes and/or been coached by Daryl Ray Carliles, Gus Allen, and Bronwen Carson and all are phenomenal at what they do. I am currently in my fourth session of Advanced On-Camera and third session of Advanced Scene Study, both with Bronwen, and I never want to stop! Bronwen has the unique perspective of someone who is an actor, director, and writer and is an incredible teacher. I am so glad I found this community of supportive creatives!
Gabrielle Morell: Since I can remember I've wanted to pursue an acting career and Back to One has made that dream even more of a reality. I started my journey at Back to One in January, taking Level On Camera Acting for TV & Film Level 1 & 2 with Gus Allen. I learned how to properly audition for TV and Film, how to break down a script (whether monologue or dialogue), how to work collaboratively with my comrades for scene work, and techniques for bringing a character to life on screen. Just this year Back to One brought on Bronwen Carson as an instructor for Advanced Scene Study and Advanced On Camera classes. Eager to learn more, I signed up directly after having completed Level 2 with Gus Allen in the hopes of further challenging myself and building upon the fundamentals of what I had already learned.Having now completed two 6 week courses of Advanced Scene Study and two 6 week courses of Advanced On Camera to date, I can humbly proclaim that Bronwen Carson's instruction has truly changed me as a performer and as an individual. Her work and direction is of the highest caliber and each class I take with her I am continuously moved and motivated to elevate and deepen my abilities. In her classes I have been exposed to techniques of Meisner, Laban, Stanislavsky, Strasberg, and Chekhov to name a few. She has a talent for creating exercises that challenge me to blend these techniques together, which helps me create more compelling and believable work & stories on and off camera.I cannot speak enough to her innate ability to foster a safe, professional, and equally fun and engaging learning environment. I feel this has been absolutely instrumental to the way she's able to facilitate my work. As an actor and storyteller, in order to do some of my best work I may be called to enter vulnerable and occasionally uncomfortable terrain. Bronwen's sensitivity and awareness to my individual strengths & weaknesses as well as limits and boundaries make moving through that terrain all the more rewarding. I have had the opportunity to meet my fears through a lens of curiosity and creativity in ways I never thought imaginable. The treasure vaults of sensorial experience and deep wells of emotion that I have been able to open within myself through scene study work has had a tremendous effect on the way I have been able to connect to and develop characters/roles that I work with.Within that same thread of thought, I have been given so many tools/techniques to help me build emotion without needing to feel it. As Bronwen has said in class, "always feeling the character is not synonymous w/ good work." It has been such a privilege and honor to work with Bronwen and I am so thankful for this opportunity that Back to One has given me to be able to work with someone as experienced and as knowledgeable as her. I feel so lucky to have found a creative home at Back to One and a bright, strong community of actors/storytellers who are realizing their dreams like me.
Briana Morell: I started acting classes at Back to One Acting Studios in November of last year and they have continued to grow and improve. It is the one place in Raleigh that has fostered such a supportive and professional environment where those who wish to continue in the field of acting (tv&film especially) can expand their knowledge, connections, and skillset. At the end of this year one of my favorite acting teachers at the studio (Bronwen Carson) will be moving back to NYC, making brief appearances in NC every few months and I cannot begin to say how much I have grown because of this outstanding human. It has been, and continues to be, the greatest privilege to work with a teacher who challenges and encourages me because she wants me to be greater than my potential. In the classroom Bronwen touched on the techniques of Meisner, Laban, Stanislavsky, Strasberg, Stella Adler and even created her own exercises that melded two techniques together which allowed me to not only expand my use of techniques as an actor, but to also understand that I can use what works for me and find new ways to incorporate hybrids into my process. What I also found to be essential to the growth of actors in her classroom is that she is incredibly aware of how world events affect how we actors show up to class and gives us the space to use how we feel. I also found it inspiring to learn from a teacher who understands how creativity unites us, yet also has the ability to hold space for the gift of nuance amongst a group of unique individuals. Here I will leave you with one of my favorite quote of hers that she spoke in the first class I ever took with her: “Embrace the beauty of foolishness. Please don't be cool :)."~Briana Morell 3
dvir finish: My experience with Back to One studio and particularly with Bronwen Carson was whimsical.I took Level 1 For The Camera class followed by The Advanced On Camera with Bronwen.Even though it was once a week class I could undoubtedly feel the progression I am making, the great inspiration I was influenced by and the support to try and dare.I am so grateful I had the opportunity to spend the summer and stretch my skills as an actor in this hidden gem.Thank you Back to One Studio and thank you Bronwen.See on set one day.
Genius Jones: Hello my name is Genius Jones and I am a comedian, content creator, and now actor thanks to BTO. Honestly I never thought about being an actor until I got connected with BTO. Me taking classes here has taught me that there is room in the acting industry for people with all types and levels of skill set. I have really enjoyed the hands-on classes and the easy to follow teaching methods that the teachers at BTO have. I have now been apart of the BTO Alumni family for two years. The experience has been nothing short of amazing. My understanding of the industry has grown so much. The advice I had received has helped me in so many areas of my life. I got my first ever headshots done here. I also have created my actors access account which I always wanted to do but never took initiative to do it. If you ever needed that push to give you a little motivation, this is where you will get it. I have met some cool people along the.way also. I have developed a drive to want to create now that I’ve learned bout things on both side of the camera. All in all I would say the BTO has been a jump to a hopefully success career in the industry. I look forward to seeing my growth over the next few years with the knowledge I’ve gained. My biggest lesson is to never wait you can start today where you are.
Jared Alstein: I've been taking the Advanced On Camera classes with Bronwen Carson and it's unbelievable how much I've learned in a month and a half. From learning new acting disciplines as well as things that I had no idea I was doing. Everyone is super supportive and it makes you feel more comfortable really going for it during the monologs that she assigns you.

LORRIE POLIQUIN: The theater is a great place to see small regional shows. The place is clean and the outside gardens are a wonderful place to visit while you wait for the doors to open. It was an uplifting experience!

Durant Road Musical Theatre: what do users think?
Joe DeLangie: It was a great acting experience for my daughter!
Corinne McCain: I sadly can’t recommend doing shows here if you are more casual about theatre. Basically, it seemed that if you weren’t willing to be on any of the theatre teams for whatever reason, it was very unlikely you will ever get a big role. Even after I had gone to Durant road for multiple shows, it seemed Mrs. Dina could never remember me or my parents. Mrs. Dina could be really passive aggressive at times as well. Unless you’re willing to sell your soul to theatre, don’t go here.
Heather Allenby: Sadly I can’t recommend this business to anyone. The employees and the kiddos are very nice but unfortunately the owners feel it is appropriate to bully a child when they are given negative feedback they don’t like. After sharing a safety issue with the owner and watching her throw a toddler size tantrum yelling and dramatically causing a scene, I assumed I caught her at a bad time. The issue was never resolved bc I wasn’t allowed to talk. After the following two days of camp, my son shared multiple occasions where he was shamed publicly, isolated from the other kids and embarrassed all bc the owner didn’t like his parent. My child was innocent and not involved but the severe lack of professionalism and maturity of the owner clearly showed through the passive aggressive manner she tried to hurt a child. Luckily for us, our child’s resilience and maturity far surpass the owners and was aware that she was projecting her not liking negative feedback into him. If you plan to tell the owners how wonderful they are and throw a ton of money at them, I’m sure it will be fine. Just keep any concerns to yourself until your child is no longer in their care.Added- “can’t please the parent”? I wasn’t looking to be pleased. Safe and kind was all we needed. Which we had until you were given negative feedback. Then my child was bullied by the owner. Shamed and bullied the last two days. My history of reviews is maybe 5 total in my life and only two negative. Nice try to deflect back on me. I only leave a negative review if it has been an experience that causes harm to others.
Dance Etc.: I have been working with Ms. Debbie and DRMT for 17 years. She is professional, energetic and committed to offering her students an excellent experience in the Theater. We are grateful for her generous service to the Raleigh Theatre Arts community! Thank You DRMT!
Jakob Harvey: Absolutely love everyone there, they always try and make the theatre a very kind and accepting place! 100% recommended!

Ursula Furnas: i look forward to coming here evey week. Its great for people with tons of experince but its also great for people with none!
Crystal Dickens Realtor: DRMT is truly the place “where your kid can go to be in a show”. Every child has an opportunity to shine and grow! It has been a game changer for my kids’ confidence and they have made friendships that will last forever !
Shannon Young: I'm 9 years old and going to Durant Road Musical Theatre for the first time. It is such a fun place we get to learn really cool dances and we learn fun songs too. Mrs. Dina is super funny, Christoper is goofy and Mr. Dean does a great job teaching us songs. Mrs. Debby is so sweet and I am learning so much about theater.
Presley Emory: I had my first camp at Durant Road this week and I loved it so much, The atmosphere felt like everyone Welcoming and energetic.whenever you walked into the room everyone was laughing and having fun.the teachers are super nice and it’s fast moving but it’s not too fast
Madilynn S: DRMT IS THE BEST!! Love the directors and actors! The best theatre experience you can get in the area!
Amelia Nilles: I love coming here!! Everyone here is kind and amazing and always work to make this experience the best for everyone. Our music director is the best.

Estes is amazing and always helping me with my auditions. It's a great family environment. I love moonlight studios and I highly recommend you try it out.
E J: I'm taking a comedy sketch class right now and was a little nervous because I never taken something like this before but Matt White does a great job of teaching the class and helping us grow. He challenges us and doesn't hold our hand but if you have any questions, this guy will answer them. He's an extremely dedicated person to his craft whether that be Improv or Stand-up. I'll definitely be taken the next class with Matt whether he teaches improv or stand up because he is that good of a teacher. If you’ve been thinking about taking improv or comedy sketch classes, do it. You’re in good hands with Matt White.

Edith Berry: I was "On the Road with TCP Magazine at NRACT covering the Volunteer Appreciation and the Announcement of 2023-2024 season. They served appetizers to guests and Thespians who performed snippets of upcoming shows. The previews exhibited talented artists! NRACT provides instructions for classes. It is a comfortable and well maintained clean building. They have a great lineup of shows forthcoming. The artistic director Timothy Locklear has done an incredible job in maintaining quality performances for about 19 years!
John Meyers: Great staff and experience
Amy Adamski: Nice small theatre. I enjoyed the play.
Deborah Oronzio: Great-quality for a community theater. Prices are reasonable and there's really no bad seats (it's approximately 100 seats). What a nice showcase for the talent of the community. The performance I saw was "Sordid Lives", which was hilarious. Tucked away in the corner of Greystone Village Shop Ctr on LeadMine and Sawmill Rds.
El Kel: Wonderful camp, talented group!
Emily Jividen: Fun place to see a show, take a class, or send your kid to summer camp. (I've done all of the above.)

harper !!: I've taken the acting classes since kindergarten, and the teachers have always been amazing! I've also seen a production of Freaky Friday and it was great. It's a very small theatre, which makes it feel a bit more friendly. If you're looking for acting classes, I'd definitely recommend. I signed up for an acting day camp here and I couldn't be more excited 3
jeff thomas: Love this theatre!!
Aaron Benson: I’ve seen a several good shows here. 5 stars because we need more venues like this one in the triangle.
Ken Newcomer: We saw the amazing performance of Footloose!, a summer intensive camp. Let me tell you how many emotions came from it - humor, empathy, fear, love, sadness, frustration, triumph, and more - and to think that these youth - in a 10 day camp not - only fully embodied those emotions, but also learned the technical aspects - their lines, the tight vocal harmonies, the challenging physical moves, the blocking, and their sheer PRESENCE .. this state-sponsored theatre company deserves our funding. Please contribute to this amazing, fantastic program!
Mits: Love the small, cozy feel of this theater and the plays I've seen here have been great. Was looking forward to First Date The Musical and enjoyed it thoroughly. Great performances all around!
Marlowe Earl: First time attending, really enjoyed the performance and I plan on returning.

Vivian Nehrenz: My niece was in a production of singing in rain..it was fantastic! The kids were great. I love coming to see the performances it's like mini Broadway.
Mike Taylor: Great local place to watch a show
Jela Ok: Not sure
Scott Simmons: My daughter really enjoyed her track out camp here. The performance at the end of the week was truly impressive.
Carlo Matos: They added a light menu (600 calories or less). Great add! Would be great if they extend the calorie count to all menu items.
Brian Kemerait: Great acting school
April Miller: I continue to be so grateful for our decision to join RaleighACT. My children have thrived here and learned so much --- including how to care well for your friends and be a team player. Parent after parent I interact with after classes all praise Miss Blaire and Miss Paula's creative input and care for their children. We just LOVE RaleighACT!!
Kim Collins: Raleighact offers more than auditions, rehearsals, and shows. Your children will grow into hard workers all while having fun. Great Joy in seeing my daughters growth since her first introduction to Ms Blaire and Ms Paula! She is learning life skills that will be with her always.
1stMom: Not good for children under 10 -- they get overlooked.
Maddie Atwater: The kids learn so much. All children's are given an opportunity to shine. The teachers are all so amazing and so caring !!!!!! Best thing about our move to N.C.!!!!!
Keith Graves: My daughter had such a wonderful experience at acting camp last week! There was so much love and support and encouragement from the staff ... and we were so impressed with the play at the end of the week. We will definitely be signing up for another camp!

North Carolina Theatre Conservatory: what do users think?
Lorelei E.: I can only review for the adult classes.. Musical Theatre 101 is a just for fun class to get your feet wet so you can understand the 3 things you need to study in order to perform in musical theater. As an adult, you will need to study elsewhere or ask your teacher for private lessons! Broadway Choreography is the real deal. I also took Music Theory. Not helpful to me yet as I cannot sing. Hopefully when I start lessons I will remember what I learned in the class.
