Historic Oak View County Park: what do users think?
Jennifer Slusser: We went to the Farm Kitchen presentation this morning with seven kids from ages four to fifteen, two teachers, and one grandmother. We were all engaged, learned something new, and enjoyed the staff member, Delaney, who did the presentation. She was knowledgeable, flexible, energetic, and culturally sensitive. I was super impressed. Delaney even offered to cut up the carrots we brought for the goats. We’ll definitely be going back for more programs. Also, bathrooms were clean, it’s dog friendly in outside spaces, and you can feed the goats carrots (in bite-sized pieces) and apples slices. There are lots of shaded spaces and a few picnics spots.
Jeanette Bowers: We went for an event discussing cooking in the 1800's. Learned where the food came from originally, work duties on a plantation and how things changed after emancipation. Our guide was Delaney and she was excellent. She made the whole presentation interactive for all ages. We even attempted to make butter! 😊 It's well worth the time to go. And don't leave without feeding the goats. (They like carrots.) They're a hoot!
Lori Adington: I love the historic structures at this park. The hiking trails were beautiful, but the traffic noise from 440 took any peacefulness out.
James Fountain: Always a grea5 place to go for peaceful walk, and also if you into photography or want to see some of the farm animals they have there. And also to see some of the history of Raleigh.
Victoria Fash: Such a lovely place to wander. I took the toddlers in my life to feed the goat (carrots and apples only) and pick the free pecans in season. You can wander around and read the historic plaques and walk through/read about the information guides on its prior use as a cotton/pecan farm. It's such a lovely little space.
Fionas Verden: Super spændende sted.Man får virkelig et indblik i hvordan bomuld produktionen har været og hvordan man levede førhen.Tag endelig picnic kurven med, du kan nemt bruge hele dagen.Det er tilmed gratis
Denise Rhodes: Great experience for their holiday tour. I took my mother-in-law who was visiting and we had a wonderful time. Staff were excited, friendly and knowledgeable
David Miller: Nice open area to walk. Has a story walk for kids and an area to feed goats.
Gloria Rader: Every time we drive down from Farmland In. to visit our daughter and son-in-law we hike the trail from the long drive.
Terri Gordon: Beautiful day, great experience for kids and adults!!!!
Paul Griesbach: Nice community park.Easy to hike the two trails.Goats and farm to get taste of local agricultural history. It’s a good visit that could be made better with farm animal food dispensers.
Karen Vaichus: Amazing gem in the heart of the city. Perfect for families with kids looking for a place with farm animals and walking trails.
Tammy Yu: If you bring carrots or apples you can feed the very friendly goats and there's a great trail. Maybe .70 miles easy for kids
Janelle Stephenson: Fantastic!! Great information. We walked through Christmas through the ages.
fergman311: Love taking the kid to see the goats.
Barbara Spence: Thoroughly enjoyed the tour today. Lovely property, interesting history. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Took some great photos...only professional photographers are charged. Will recommend to friends and family!
riffraffwriting: Very interesting and informative tour. Knowledgeable guide who answered lots of questions.
Dale Miller: Wonderful holiday tour.Need update on arrow pointing to directions into property.
Robin Gregorinci: What a cool hidden gem. Hubby and I went for a Christmas at Oak View free tour (this is offered daily) and enjoyed it very much. In the past this was a Plantation. During the tour they step you through what Christmas would have been like in different time periods and tell you about the owners. If you are a local you will recognize the names. After the tour we went in the buildings that weren't part of the tour and walked the trails in the woods. The goats were entertaining and loved the attention (tip: if you make a little clicking noise with your tongue they will come right to you). We enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. The park is well maintained and was quite busy on a dreary Sunday afternoon.
Jared Allen: Great spot for photos!
GalliVANting_Emches: We enjoyed feeding the goats and harvesting pecans with our grandchildren.

Mordecai Historical Park: what do users think?
brandi nunn: The tour was very informative and the link between this homesite and the Joel Lane house is talked about. Our tour guide felt it necessary to make fun of the way and I quote southerner's mispronounce words. We enjoyed seeing the house and grounds but not the tour guide.
Dan Jahn: Free parking and a $10 ticket gets you a 1 hour tour around downtown Raleigh that leaves from Mordecai on Saturdays. We learned some interesting facts. The seats are very hard but with ample leg room.
Farzad Ehtemam: The staff were extremely knowledgeable about the history. We learned a lot. The estate and the artifacts are preserved in really good shapes. It wasn't busy when we arrived and we got a nice and very detailed tour of the entire place. You should definitely think about taking a tour. The garden behind the kitchen was so lovely with many flowers and plants.
Jerome Lazarczyk: Great historicity about Raleigh. The tour is excellent.
Holly Sullenger: Great place for exploring the history of Raleigh and North Carolina.Restrooms: Across from visitor center
Andrea Ponce López: Wonderful place, the tour was amazing to know more about the history!
吴锐恒(Ruiheng Edbalt Wu): It will open when the house is closed. The garden is really beautiful at summer. But do not forget to take your bug spray, there are a lot of mosquitos!
Joe Radosevich: Went for event in the park (Geek and Grub). Great location for the event, and looks like a nice peaceful park during other times.
Jaymster gms: Had a great time June 10th at the 2023 geek and grub festival i loved the historical buildings and the beautiful garden overall a very fun experience I will be back next yearRestrooms: 3 unisex bathrooms one is handicapped accessiblePicnic area: The are several benches scattered around along with some picnic tables
vimal kumar Chaturvedi: The tour is fantastic
Crystal Moss: Did the guided tour to get all the information and be able to go into the houses. So knowledgeable and it is an amazing part of Raleigh history.
Melanie Martinez: Excellent tour and astonishing grounds! Absolutely loved it!
Kristopher Bell: Well maintained park, we took the great Raleigh trolley tour of downtown Raleigh. Very insightful, learned a lot about the history and landmarks from two amazing guides. Plan to arrive about 5 min early, and total time about 60 min total including loading/unloading of the bus.
Jami Mayer: Very nice place. And Trolley tourRestrooms: 2 large restrooms and many nice areas
Douglas Christian: Excellent history. Nice place to hang out. Beautiful park.
Scott Aldridge: It is always a pleasure to go here. I love the place itself but also all the events that come here
Tyke Tenney: We just did the Historic Raleigh Trolley Tour. It was very interesting and enjoyable. The tour was a one hour ride through the city of Raleigh with the narration about the city of Raleigh since its creation. It was a great way to see the city without fighting traffic. There is adequate parking on Mimosa Street where the tour starts and ends. After the tour there is a walking tour through some of the houses on the Mordecai property. This is well worth the small ticket price.
Kimberly Favre: Love the plant sale
spencer wiegand: Enjoyed the history and tour of this park.
Jenna Waites: We took the tour and our guide was AMAZING!Super knowledgeable and such interesting details about the buildings and families who inhabited them. Leaned a lot about aspects of our history I didn't know before.Highly recommend!!
Hope ashworth: Beautiful area and enjoyed seeing the birth place of our 17th president. But being a bit of historical buff I was disappointed that there were no signs or information posted out side the house or the small buildings that were scattered close by to the main house. We followed the signs that were directing people to the visitor center but still we're not able to even find it. The signs led us behind the main house and through a back entrance that was a main street in Raleigh. No sign posted on any of the buildings that identified the "Visitor Center". We didn't stay very long. There was a group of people about to enter the main house for a tour but there was nothing posted about the cost for the tour.

Neuse River Trail: what do users think?
Gail Dempsey: Rode from the trail parking lot (approx mile marker 17+) just north of Anderson Point Park southbound to the county line, and then just a bit further to mile marker 30.0. The NRT surface is very well maintained and the signage is clear and plentiful. On this hot day, I was thankful for the tree cover most of the way. I really enjoyed seeing our progress every quarter mile.
J C: 34 miles of paved, well kept biking and hiking trail. It doesn't matter if you're riding or walking. Either way you're going to have a good time with some great views. Benches every so often to rest and river access as well.Playground: There are playgrounds attached at different intervals. Look up the spacing before you take up a trek if this interests you.Dog-friendliness: Keep dogs on leashPicnic area: Picnic areas abound.
Debbie Webb-Ogundele: It’s been a while since I last walked this trail. It was a beautiful day and pleasant break in my daily routine.
Gregory Perkins: My wife and I lived nearby and we liked to walk up-and-down the trail a lot. I have bicycled up-and-down the trail quite a bit. I have no worries about security because I'm an old ugly white man. It is a great place for families and groups of young people to walk or ride.
Dominick Bradford: Awesome little trail to bike through all paved road. Got a little bit of grow up next to the river right now. Probably should be cut again.
Caleb Denton: Absolutely beautiful Greenway that is well-maintained. Perfect for going for an afternoon bike ride or for a walk. A lot of benches along the way and many shaded areas. Not too many hills. Plenty of room to pass. This is a 10 out of 10 for me!
Patrick Gregory: Love this trail. We are lucky to have it. Wish there were more ones like this with less road crossings.
Matthew Seagraves: Love it
Judy Grillo: The best reason to be in Clayton! Big trees, river views, cool along the ride or walk. Loved it.
Sam Fantaye: The Neuse River Trail is a picturesque paved greenway that runs alongside the Neuse River. It's a multi-use trail perfect for walking, jogging, biking, and even bringing your furry friend along. The natural landscape provides stunning views, making it a great spot for a fun day outdoors.
Jeremy Jardine: Love the greenway
Ernie Schroeder: Beautiful nature trail to relax and unwind.
BadmintonSkills: The best place for cycling.
Jim Campbell: We enjoyed a short walk today at the Neuse River Trail on Mial Plantation Road. When we returned to the parking lot, our car was broken into and my wife's purse, phone, etc was stolen. This was around 3:30pm. Please be safe at this location and be aware of your surroundings. Our car was locked but they smashed the rear window.
emlis cairot: It is Big scammer siman boraak
Stephon Jeffries: Jogged the paths
Carlton Southerland: Beautiful trail in the fall!
Karl Davis: Great place for a long walk or ride and commune with nature.
Taloneze: Chicken sandwich is awesome! Great pickles! Good food and served fast and hot at this location.
Paul (Paulie): Crazy how you can be minding your own business in such a beautiful and safe area as this but be gunned down by a random teenager while out walking. So terrible what happened to the five victims. Let this be a reminder to those that live in the USA that no matter how safe an area is, even greenways or quaint suburban areas, you also need to carry and protect yourselves if possible. Gun control can only do so much in a country where there are already more guns than people. Gun control will helpfully cause less guns to be put in the hands of psychos like this, but the pre-existing ones won't go away so the bad will always be in reach of them as long as this country exists. Stay vigilant.

Historic Yates Mill County Park: what do users think?
Nate N: I love this park and have been coming for ten years.
Sumit Srivastava: Beautiful place to spend sometime in peace.. Plenty of parking spots.
Kathleen L McCauley: A fun place to spend some time.Restrooms: Are clean. Very nice.Dog-friendliness: I’ve only seen signs that no digs allowed. Would be awesome place to go walking if I could bring my little Yorkie friend.
Jessy Hauschild: The people at Yates Mill were very kind to me and my summer camp group. They were patient and taught all of us a lot of cool information about animals, insects and habitats. Thank you Ms Laura and Mr Andrew for an amazing time! ❤️
Lisa Giloti Kopp: Great place to make a quick stop. Beautiful location and tons of great information.
Ivelisse Gonzalez: Beautiful
Chanchal: Attractive spots for photographers, however there is a board which says professional photographers are required to take permission. Great historic park, well maintained. This park has lovely board bridges, small and long trails in nature, birds, mammals, snakes, historic mill, small waterfall, a pond, picnic benches and classroom in the nature, mill overlook, log cabin. Plenty of parking, restrooms, maps are available at the entrance. Be careful while walking we spotted snakes.Restrooms: Well maintained and at the entrance of the park.Dog-friendliness: It seems it is not a dog friendly park.Picnic area: Many picnic benches are available at many places of this historic park.
Ally Klein: Great park with beautiful scenery and walking trails
John M. Conroy: Great park for a short hike to see the historic 18th century mill. The tour is excellent and allows you to learn about the mill's history and how it works. It still produces corn meal, which is demonstrated once a month.
Ying Wang: We love that there are 3 trails and at different difficult levels and although it's near water, not many bugs. Nice educational center/museum with exhibition of mill related artifacts and hands on activities. Saw a few skinks and many turtles. There is an area with tons of blackberry bushes lining up the board walk. We saw a squirrel sleeping up high on a tree branch. Beautiful weather with nice breeze. We are definitely coming back.Restrooms: Restrooms are inside the museum, south of the parking lotDog-friendliness: No pets allowedPicnic area: There are a couple picnic tables leading to the mill from the parking lot, as well as on the board walks.
Melinda Clark: I visited the Historic Yates Mill County Park while on vacation in North Caroline, and I LOVE this beautiful park.My favorite spot was on the boardwalk out back near the rocking chairs, there's a small isolated dock. I could sit there all day... until dark. The mill is incredible. The walking path worth doing!I enjoyed soaking up the nature/habitat of this region. Thank you!I can HIGHLY RECOMMENDRestrooms: Restrooms have entrance outside as well as a door in/out of the museum itself.
Gina Jordan: Beautiful. We especially LOVE the rule of NO dogs…..Yay!!! No dogs pushing us off the trails. No dog $hit on the trails…..sooooo nice. No barking and craziness. Thank you thank you thank you.
Kat: Lovely place to walk and there’s even a patch of grass to walk barefoot, confident there will be no doggie do. Serene place. This is an official wildlife sanctuary and there are now signs near the entrance that prohibit dogs for obvious reasons. To get to the mill, go straight away to the left of the parking lot. To enjoy a hike in the woods, go to the right. I recommend the Creekside trail for 5+ year olds, unless your child cannot resist the mud! There are wooden planks to walk on. For a real adventure do this trail and follow it with the High Ridge trail. This trail will take you to the Millpond Trail, which is your flat and easy walk. Both the High Ridge and the Millpond trails lead you to Yates Mill itself where the sound of the waterfall soothes your soul. There are picnic tables and educational center with bathrooms. The trails are all natural but the boardwalk is a smooth surface for strollers. The park is equipped with plenty of trash bins and such, so please respect nature and keep it clean. Enjoy!
coco rich: Short trail but very nice for a quick walk....the history center inside has good info..Restrooms: Were cleanPicnic area: Alot of areas
Tracy and Ryan: PEACEFUL! What a wonderful, clean & quiet park to stroll through after a long work day. The wind rustling through the trees, the sun on our faces & the little turtles on the log. *HAPPY SIGH* Who's ready for a nap?Dog-friendliness: No dogs allowed SIGN
Christopher Boyce: Unique park focused on historic and ecological preservation. Well worth a visit to learn about the mill, let your kids play in the stream, walk the trails, and take in the beautiful views. Just leave your dog and fishing poll at home. I brought both and neither are permitted here.
Nicolas Kressmann: Great place to walk and have a picnic. Only downside is that no dogs or bicycles are allowed.
Irina *****: Beautiful park , and interesting history about mill. You can have indoor tours just for 5$, it helps to keep it and maintain the mill and territory
charles carter: Beautiful with a trail around the mill pond and another through surrounding hills.
Jamie Lynn: I loved this place! We were visiting from NJ, and this is a perfect little hike for anyone... intermediate to moderate... there are a few different trails and so much to see! They are rebuilding the bridge, so you cannot access that part, however it didn't matter because you get to literally enjoy nature all around you! This is a must do for anyone visiting !

Just clean up after your pet.Picnic area: Small picnic area and pavilion by the community center. May need reservations for large parties.

Panowork.com魔鬼哥哥: If you're looking for a fun and relaxing way to spend your day, you might want to check out some of the amazing parks in the triangle area. Whether you're into running, fishing, boating, or partying, there's a park for you. Here are some of the best ones:- Shelley Lake Park: This park has a beautiful lake surrounded by paved trails and wooden bridges. You can enjoy the scenery without worrying about getting muddy. However, be careful at night, as this park has a higher crime rate than some other areas . You don't want to run into any troublemakers!- Lake Lynn Park: This park is similar to Shelley Lake Park, but it's closer to the business district and has a lower crime rate. It's also a great place to spot some wildlife, such as ducks, geese, and turtles. Just don't feed them!- Bond Lake: This park is perfect for those who like a challenge. Half of the trail around the lake is very rugged and hilly, so you'll get a good workout. The other half is more gentle and scenic. You can also rent a boat or kayak and explore the lake.- Lake Johnson: This park is popular among students and young professionals. It has a variety of trails, some paved and some natural. You can also rent a boat or paddle board and have some fun on the water. There's also a picnic area and a playground for kids.
Fred Lar: Lake Lynn is the best place for walk. Relaxing and it is beautiful.
Dave Thompson: Wonderful lake, just the right size to run or walk around and take on the beautiful views.
Pat Daniel: Beautiful. I love all the NC LAKES!
Matthew Gilman: It was okay, saw some turtles, and birds. It was good.
Sokolov Alexey: Nice place to have a walk or a run.So quiet and calm. Some people try to fish.Kayaking is next thing to do.You can meet a lot of different animals depending on the season. After a sunset you can meet some nasty creatures and no one walk there in the dark.
Janet Hartzenberg: Simply beautiful and peaceful.
Tarundeep Singh: Amazing place for a walk we enjoy the morning and evening walks. Easy terrain to walk. You can spot turtles, herons, ducks, geese all around the lake. It’s refreshing and helps us rejuvenate.
Timothy Sharp: Great walking trail.
