Paula Stroup: I took my diamond ring here to have 1 prong fixed so it want catching on everything. When I picked it up, it was no different. I requested it be repaired, as I had already paid for such.He was going to repair while I waited. He DESTROYED the prong in the setting, had to remove the diamond, was not able to complete the repair while I waited, took the ring to his shop in Clayton, when I was contacted to pick it up; OMG!* He had REPLACED the setting with a bulky, cheap setting that obscures my diamond instead of showing it off!* The band is not the same width on both sides, so it always looks cockeyed!* The setting is so low, the band no longer hugs my wedding band!* The finger side of the band was ground down until very thin!* the band has some sort of indention makes on both sides of the diamond where I used to have a smooth band!!The ring does not even resemble the one I took in, which was a very high quality gold and diamond! I was so disappointed and upset by this atrocity, it has taken me a year to even be able to post it! I now have to try to find a way to REPLACE my diamond ring because every single time I look at it or think about it, I am overwhelmed with sadness. My husband gave me this perfect ring for our 25th anniversary, and this man destroyed that sweet and cherished momento!!!I am embarrassed to wear it in public and ashamed for anyone to see it!Please do not trust this man with anything other than costume jewelry - and maybe not even that, if you like what you have!!!

Upon receiving my watch, I discovered it ran several minutes fast per hour. I brought the watch to Affordable Jewelry and Watch Repair, they gave me an estimate on cost and repair time. This watch was fixed under their estimated cost within the time their estimated repair time window. My watch runs perfectly now.

Beverly McDonald: I've been taking my watches to John for many years. I have to admit that I did use a different company, once and only once, but decided John was the man for the job. The "other" company that I used one time scratched one of my favorite watches badly but I can honestly say that John, nor his staff, have never harmed any of my jewelry. Anyways he “refunded” me and the money has still not shown up in my bank weeks later. Should have just kept the watch, not sure if he was stoned but do not understand what is so tricky about this. Sarah Soule: PLEASE BEWARE!!!!! WATCH RUINED. Please do not bring your watch to this company if it is valuable or sentimental as it was in my case.I brought in a Kate spade watch for a SIMPLE battery replacement a week ago and the technician was quick to begin the work but after about 30 minutes of " working on the watch" I began to worry. He finished the work charged my card then handed me my watch. Immediately I noticed that the face of the watch was not sitting flat, the opal backing had several small cracks and there were specks of dirt or something between the face and crystal. I showed this to the technician and he went back to work on the watch again with no avail to fix the issues. I was asked to leave the watch for their manager to work on the next day. I had to call to follow up twice and when it was finally "finished" I picked up the watch in worse condition (bulging face, loose hands, more cracks and still dirt between the face and crystal). I requested a refund of the ~$40 battery replacement, as I was now going to have to take the watch to a specialist to repair the insides. To my dismay the watch is not repairable, there are now parts missing that can no longer be sourced and my watch is ruined.I wish their team would have been honest from the beginning that they ran into issues and could not work on my watch rather than making things worse and eventually destroying a very sentimental piece of jewelry.

After 10 mins he said the watch is ready and I checked it and the back cover came off. He worked on it again and this time it didn't come off. In my opinion, 24.99 is a ripoff when you can walk to Bailey's and get it replaced for free. He gave me a $5 discount though. The watchmaker didnot know how to reset the watch. I have tried the manual and checked on internet and not able to reset the chrono hand back to the reset position. Anyways, I will not use this place to get the watch batteries replaced.

Niklaus Gunther: Came here after being referred by Belk for a brand new Movado watch band adjustment. Their employee broke the band then went on to blame me saying “the pin just falls out now, you must have tried it yourself or had someone else do it”. What actually happened was that she damaged the pin sleeve and simply couldn’t put it back together without it. Avoid this place!!

We brought the wrist watch back to Dakota Watch for re-service and never saw it again!After repeat visits we were told by the African American ladies (hint - )there was something with the backcover then with the front glass and no one could locate the watch.One African American lady-representative who handled my watch was telling us that the other African American lady was the manager and vice versa. However, neither one could locate the watch or give the refund.I wasted my time and never saw my wrist watch again.The Dakota Watch located in Triangle Towncenter Mall lost my watch!

Tom Boyd: Rick is an amazing horologist. A few years ago he cleaned, adjusted, replaced a crystal, and got a new band for my grandfather's Ball Canadian Trainmaster watch. Because of the excellent work, I brought him a new challenge; to find hands, replace the crystal, clean, and adjust an 1800's Audemars pocket watch from my wife's great great grandfather. It took about 6 months, but great work takes time and Rick did not disappoint. He kept me up to date about his progress and showed dedication to making the watch as perfect as it could be. I decided to keep the worn face to show character and age. Rick took this task head on and passed with flying colors. I will be bringing all my watches here in the future.

Barbara Miller: We have a very rare incline clock that has not worked for years. We took it to a repair shop where we live and, after 2 months, were told we would have to take it to Switzerland for repairs! We heard about Clockiques from a jewelers while visiting Chapel Hill. The folks at Clocktiques were excited to see our clock and, most importantly, quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. The clock is now running beautifully. We will travel the 400 miles back to this shop for any future repairs to any of our fine time pieces.

After opening up my watch, he told me he found corrosion around the battery because of negligence on the part of the shop that replaced the previous one. He cleaned up the corrosion at no extra charge and replaced the battery. I’ll definitely take my watch to Clocktiques next time to have it serviced. Will also be taking my grandmother’s antique mantle clock for servicing. I know that Rick could have been taking his lunch break, but he was gracious enough to get me in and out in 10 minutes.
Chad Patton: This is where you need to go for watch repairs / refurbishment. I had an old Rolex that had a few areas that were in rough shape. I took it to the Rolex dealer to see if they could repair it. The only way they would repair it was by shipping it off and essentially replacing many of the components resulring in a price tag of about $15k. Clocktiques was able to make the repairs and get the Rolex back to almost the original condition for 2-3k. The watch looks fantastic and operates perfectly. This is the place to go if you need a repair, fix, or service. I will be back!

Their appraisal rates were a bit lower than a couple of other nearby stores I called and the turnaround time was far shorter than the others. Good communication and quick service. I would recommend them to anyone needing an insurance appraisal.

Which most jewelry stores have turned to pawn shops. Thinking your desperate for money .you are better off to sell your jewelry yourself or send it to a very reputable company like Sotheby's or Christy's in New York. If it is Very Valuable. Like a 4 karat emerald set in platinum.

Ivy Curlee: They were not kind and very stinge. We had bought and item a few years back and put it on a layaway but sadly with COVID we could not continue paying. We are hours away from the store and full time. We were told we had a store credit and made numerous calls but sadly could not make it there do to work. We drove hours to get here today only to be told that we could not get any money back. The clirk raised his voice at us and was talking in a condescending tone. I do not recommend this pawnshop.
