WKS Wood Design: what do users think?
Dave Alligood: William is a brilliant craftsman. His woodworking skills are only surpassed by his vision!
M London: My experience with WKS Wood Design was such a Terrific Experience, I would Highly recommend them! Coming from out of state I was a bit hesitant about purchasing from the company. However, moments after meeting the owner, William, my concerns were dismissed. Once I saw the passion he has for wood, his craft and perfection I knew my items were in Great Hands. Both the entry table and Dining Table are beautiful, but the Dining Table has my character all over it. BRAVO Will for designing a Beaufort piece of Arywork!
Claire D'Aisle: Just look at this! While you can obviously see a beautifully, handcrafted table, these pictures could never adequately capture the soul of this magnificent tree that has been brought back to life by a clever, talented magician called William. He has transformed this poor, damaged piece of Mother Nature's best work into a fusion between the dark, quiet forest and the wild, restless, moody ocean. If only you could see this treasure in person. Words...photos...never will do this justice...this table must be experienced. If you are thinking of owning this type of piece, please come to the master. William is the tree whisperer. Each piece talks to him, guiding him to unlock the stunning beauty within. You will be in awe as you take this journey with William. He will listed to your ideas and make something so much better....better than you could ever imagine.
Marisa Shapiro: We had a custom bar top made and we could not be happier. It's beautiful. It truly is a piece of art. Not only that, they were willing to work with us so we didn't have to cut into the wood at all, creating a one of a kind custom piece. The process was wonderful and we are so happy with the result. I would recommend WKS Wood Design to anyone.
GK Harris: WKS Wood Design custom built a beautiful coffee table for our home. William the owner and creator of the most amazing pieces of furniture, made us a one-of-a-kind stunning coffee table. We just love the end result, and it will always be the focal point of our living room. It is not just a table it is a piece of art.
Mareth Babcock: My stand up desk was delivered this past week. What kind I say except that it is absolutely beautiful and more than I could have ever imagined. We met with William and told him my vision. He took what I thought I wanted and took the vision to a whole different level. William’s creativity and eye for his craftsmanship is like no other. He is so passionate about his work and makes sure to keep you informed during the process. My desk is a treasure and one that will be kept in the family forever. Thank you so much William for making a dream come true.
Jackie Maloney: As my husband and I were driving by William'sWKS WOOD DESIGN, we noticed a rather large, beautiful round slab of wood outside of the shop, and my husband shouted STOP !! After going inside and speaking with William and striking up an hour long conversation with this True Carpenter, we realized William's passion was contagious. My husband was truly inspired with William's depth of skill and love of each piece of wood in the shop, and it made Chris ask if he needed help with carrying or delivering any of his finished pieces. The rest is history! Their friendship was sparked and William's talents were now Chris' passion too. It's a pleasure seeing finished tables, custom bowls, cutting boards, end tables, chess boards and other one of a kind beauties William makes by hand. An Art that has gone by in time. We love the pieces that we have purchased and we're so happy to see all of the other amazing reviews. We highly recommend William's WKS Wood Design Shop and Live Edge Art to anyone with a passion for honest, meticulous, custom made woodworking by a true, talented woodworker. Thank You William for taking your time to show us what True Custom, Live Edge Wood Working is supposed to be! We'll see you again soon.
Bruce Baker: Positive:Professionalism,ResponsivenessWe ordered a custom walnut and cherry cutting board and it is a stunning addition to our kitchen!! The owners care about the quality of their work and are a delight to work with.
Tara Burns: The pictures fall short of truly showing just how beautiful our table is. I had a very specific vision in mind that William was able to understand immediately. He spent a lot of time explaining the process and showing us his impressive work. Our live edge table is massive, yet sleek, at 8ft long and 53 in. at its widest point. The dark walnut, single slab, is full of dimension and character. It has become the statement piece of our home that sparks joy for us every time we walk in or sit down to enjoy a meal. William communicated throughout the whole process and was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend bringing joy to your life too and having William design a functional work of art for your space.
Laura Leeson: We are so excited to add our entry table to our new home. William is wonderful to work with and so passionate about his craft. He took the time to show us all types of wood and the process he would be using to build our table. William listen to what we wanted and gave suggestions to create a beautiful table. Each piece of furniture is one of a kind and WE LOVE OURS! Thank you.
Roger Madison: OLD WORLD CRAFTSMANSHIP MEETS MODERN DESIGN: If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture look no further. From the first minute you meet William you will feel his intensity and dedication to his craft. He also has an intuitive feel for his customers and will bring you along on the artistic journey of creating your own heirloom piece of furniture. It is a real joy to visit his show room and see the organic nature of his work. We love the dining room table that he made for our beach house on Holden Beach. We wanted the piece to tie together the views of the ocean and sand, and he nailed it (the pictures really don't do it justice). Although he is very busy now, his reputation is certainly growing fast so there is no better time than now to get started, so go see for yourself - you won't regret it.
Jean Nash: We are really thrilled with our coffee table! Our entire experience was enjoyable. We came into the shop the first time and saw all of the beautiful work. William helped us select wood for our table. He communicated with us throughout the entire project and finished our table ahead of schedule. We returned to approve it and once more when the legs were on and it was ready to be picked up. He is a thoughtful artist and gets excited about his work!
Ted Queen: William has a true passion for his work that is evident in the amazing stories he tells about each piece he's done. Can't wait to see our shelves when they're done.
Todd Poole: William and Carolyn are awesome. They take the time and help you choose the piece that is best for you. William does a fantastic job explaining the process. We are so excited to see our finished product.

American Woodyards: what do users think?
Monica Schario: Always able to find a good piece of wood for my projects.
Scott Capouch: Great, dry fire wood. Burns clean and does not go out until the wood is gone. Highly recommend for fireplace firewood.
Cutting it close hauling and transport: Never disappointed here! Great people and great products.
Kristopher Brown: I ordered a half cord of kiln dried fire wood. The ordering was easy, the delivery was next day, and the quality of the burn is perfect. Barely any smoke and the coals burn hot and slow for cooking over the pit.
Nikki d: When I say these are some of the nicest folks I have met, it isn’t an exaggeration. I’m a ten-year Cary resident but came from rural NC - it has been a long time since I’ve been able to meet with folks so friendly and skilled. Great and professional workers, beautiful work, great price. Thanks for having a sawmill for our community!
d d: Lame response from owner. I was not "disappointed"....I was cheated by a large degree. No way a mistake of double on the weight is legit whether I could see the scales or not...which I did not. Bought a small pile of hickory, kiln dried sold by $.14 per pound according to website. In office I was told $.19 per pound. I was told it was 150 pounds of hickory. They weigh your car prior to loading and after loading. No receipt given. You cannot see the scales and take their word for it. Weighed it at home..77.8 pounds. Should have been charged $10.89 cents. Was charged almost 3 times as much. Not so much on a small amount...but if I bought a couple cords it would be a lot. My scales are digital and cannot be off by that much. Also it was a disorganized mess and a large dump truck almost backed over me. Dangerous woodyard. Won't return. Charged me triple what they should have. Buyer beware. I bought a small amount the first time as a test. Sadly they failed. I was charged $28 and change for 77.8 pounds.Owner's response to me was lame. I was told in office it was 150 pounds. It WAS NOT. Also says busy on Fridays. I did not go on Friday. Cheated me, and then had the nerve to tell me to have a blessed day.. Guess we all know what Jesus thinks of cheaters, thieves and dishonest merchants. Again, buyer beware. Guess especially so on Fridays.ALSO HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS THAT I GOT ONLY ONE VIEW.
Teri Marshall: Until a couple of months ago I would have given them 5 stars and have recommended them to others. The kiln dried wood is great but I can’t get a delivery. I requested online. I got an email that said try again in January. Requested again in January. I received another email that said they would call me the week of January 24 to schedule the first week of February. No call. I called them and left voicemail. No call back. Made another online request. Crickets. Very disappointed. I’m going to order green from Craigslist so it will be seasoned for next winter.
Jon M: Great price, reasonable delivery fee to Cary. Will be using them again next year
Jose Francisco Rincón Ramos: Empresa de madera y maquinaria
Arkham I.V.C.: First time stopping by, much better deal than you’ll get firewood at a grocery store bundle. The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the process.
Harrison Bennett: American Woodyards is an easy 5-Stars from me! Great customer service, right when we got there with someone there to show me around. Secondly, there are great prices! I only paid $40 for kiln dried and pre-surfaced live edge Walnut that was 10 foot!
Tom Murphy: Great customer service, great selection of wood. Found the perfect double live edge slab for a shelving project I'm planning. Great prices too! Highly recommend!
American Arborist: Lowest paying sawmill in North Carolina. If you want to throw away your wood and wait an hour to be unloaded, these are your guys!
Mark Welsh: Buy all my firewood here. The process is very efficient and the pricing extremely reasonable. You can pick your own firewood, so you can get the sizes that work best for your fireplace and style of burning (yes, it's a thing :)). During certain high demand periods it's advisable to call ahead and check availability.
C C: Great place to take saw logs, get green or dried fire wood in any quantity, or get a wooden mantle made.
megan brame: The cheapest place to get a trunk full of kiln dried firewood!
Bryan Bolduc: Paid upfront for 800ft of 1x6" rough cut pine and was told 2weeks. Checked in at 2 weeks for ETA and never heard back. Checked in at 3weeks and was told air drying might quicker than waiting for a kiln. Was refunded in full. Wasted 3weeks and now way behind schedule. Not a great experience
j: The other reviews were good, so I tried going there today (Tuesday) around 3:00. It was a free for all. I waited a while, but it did not look like there was any organization. with cars and trucks everywhere. No waiting line at all. If you like Walmart on Black Friday this might be a good business for you. Not for me. I left. Guess I am going back to splitting my own.Update Jan 2021 - I appreciate the response, maybe the business was just overwhelmed that day. Because of this I returned twice, but there was no wood in stock. I finally had to go elsewhere. Out of stock could just mean it is a good value, so in fairness I'll change the stars from one to three. I will not need wood again for a while.
J.J. Meidl: Great options for firewood! Kiln-dried is the way to go at American Woodyards.
Shannon Schad: This is the best place to get great firewood kiln dried at a great price. Pull up on the scale get the thumbs up. Load up your vehicle. Pull back onto scale get thumbs up and pay. Best firewood in Raleigh!
Paul Morlier: Great price for dry firewood and about as convenient as it gets.

Woodcraft of Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill: what do users think?
Keith Cathcart: Woodcraft of Raleigh NC is a great place to shop for woodworking tools and supplies. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and they're always willing to answer your questions and help you find the right products for your project.I recently went to Woodcraft to buy some tools for a new woodworking project I'm working on. I was greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable sales associate who helped me find the exact tools I needed. He also gave me some helpful tips on how to use them.I was impressed with the wide selection of woodworking tools and supplies that Woodcraft has to offer. They have everything you need, from basic hand tools to high-end power tools. They also have a great selection of wood, finishes, and other woodworking supplies.Overall, I had a great experience shopping at Woodcraft of Raleigh NC. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, and they had a wide selection of products to choose from. I would definitely recommend Woodcraft to anyone who is looking for woodworking tools and supplies.
Bert Heffley: Nice store for some exotic wood and some tools. The reason for low ratings is nobody says hi and to busy looking at there phones. They try very hard not to make eye contact. This is not a one time thing as it happens every time. Apparently from alot of reviews am not the only one that feels that way.
Leonard Country Harrison: Their service and advice is always top notch. Every time I ask questions, they've known the answer. Every time I've needed help with a product, they've given service like it's their absolute pleasure. I highly recommend woodworkers use them.
Shayne Grant: Very helpful and knowledgeable staff
Anita Barnes: Very clean and friendly cashiers also very knowledgeable of woodworking tools and accessories
Amy Popp: They have a great selection and my husband loves this store. I took my daughter because she wants to get into woodcarving. The staff was friendly but not especially helpful in telling us what tools would be best for a beginner (beyond the prepackaged sets available).
Blake Ball: Friendly, helpfull folks that are woodworkers too.
Candy Elliott: Amazing selection and staff was so helpful, knowledgeable. My husband was thrilled!
David Kalavity: Excellent tools and on-site expertise.
Sal: I love this place, and the people who works there are so kind!
James Elliott: Good service - staff exhibited patience, knowledge and willing to assist to research specs of items I was looking at to ensure they would work on my project.
Gina Jordan: I would give a 5 star review, but the guy at checkout is blatantly rude. Other employees are helpful, the store is wonderful, but we don't visit very often because of that one guy....yes, he really is that bad.
Monica Schario: Great customer service!
richard tracy: Very helpful and great staff
Aidan Romans-Murray: Good selection on offer, and I did find everything I needed, but unfortunately the older gentleman who was running checkout was pretty rude and made the exchange very uncomfortable. He just kind of sat there catatonically. The card reader bugged out during the transaction, and he watched me fumble with it for about two minutes before begrudgingly, and awkwardly, fixing the problem. The encounter was pretty uncomfortable. Offering good customer service is not difficult, and should be the bare minimum.
Phil Marino: Excellent products and customer service. The manager, Herb, in particular is quite the gentleman and will do right by his customers. I highly recommend this Woodcraft.
Paul Stanley: The man at the register was too busy working on putting a model together to put any effort into his job. Made me stand and wait while he finished his piece. Then when I pointed out that both items were mislabeled compared to what they rang up for, sighed at me and only fixed one. Y’all can do better. I usually find what I need at the store and am glad it exists, but hire people who care a little.
Cody Lagana: This store is absolutely one of a kind !! A handy mans dream
David Daughton: Well stocked store. Very helpful workers. Reasonable prices.
Marce Speranza: The place is great and had everything we were looking for. The problem was the man at the register who, as soon as he heard my son and I speaking Spanish, stopped talking to us and didn't say another word until we left. We felt horrible because we are tourists visiting from abroad.
Andrew Sirman: Glen is always a big help when I'm in there. He has no problem talking me through ways to get my equipment the way I need it.

Whitehurst Custom Woodworking: what do users think?
Chris Wilson: I can’t say enough positive things about Jeremy’s work.We had a custom vanity made in the style of campaign furniture. We had to have a custom size and he was able to customize the storage solutions as well within the drawers. We discussed to wood type, he provided samples of each species with stains to nail the dark mahogany color we were aiming for. On top of all the the project was delivered to our home and ahead of the due date. Thanks Jeremy!Services:Delivery,Woodworking,Custom furniture
Beck Waldbauer: My wife had just completed her PhD at NCSU and I wanted to commemorate her achievement with the doctoral sword that PhD candidates are presented with in Finland. I wanted a special way to display the sword in our house, so I came to Whitehurst Woodworking with that request. I was worried it was too oddball, but Jeremy was very responsive and excited to work with me on such a special piece! I provided a few rough sketches of the idea I had in mind, and Jeremy took that and made something truly wonderful!
Jessica Kaplan: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,ResponsivenessJeremy built me BEAUTIFUL custom shelves for my office. They were even better than I had imagined! Laura Weigle: What an experience!. Working with Jeremy and Whitehurst Woodworking is an absolute pleasure. Typically, when hiring a company for any project, we speak with several companies. We then narrow it down to three companies to get estimates. My wife and I met once with Jeremy to discuss our project. As we walked back to the car, my wife asked me, who we should meet with next? I said, why bother, I think we have found who we need. She agreed. From the beginning, Jeremy was interested in bringing our design to life. He listened to our ideas and shared his own. It was a collaborative effort all the way through. He always responded to our e-mails in a timely manner. When the project started he kept us informed of his progress, and the work was done in the time window he originally communicated. His craftsmanship is second to none, and the kitchen island he created is exactly what we wanted. We couldn’t be happier with the end result.Service:Custom furniture
Joe V: Jeremy was terrific to work with on my custom dining table. He is very collaborative ... we worked together on the design I submitted to help me think through material and construction considerations. He then produced a beautiful finished product! True to quote, on-time, and very patient with questions.I hope to have the opportunity to work with him again!Services:Table construction installation,Delivery,Woodworking,Wood staining,Furniture design,Custom furniture
Steve Giesige: A few years ago, my mother and stepfather gave me a genuine ship wheel for my birthday. For the longest time, I struggled to come up with the best way to display it. It finally came to me that a helm would be perfect. I found Jeremy online and we got together to brainstorm. He helped with the design and choice of wood to best match the wheel. I couldn’t be happier with the finished piece! I have other projects in mind and will choose no other than Jeremy to do the builds.Service:Custom furniture
Nicole Cantley: Jeremy was so great to work with! And our side tables turned out beautifully! He is very detail oriented and super responsive. He went above and beyond for us to ensure the paint we selected was exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend!
diane wildey: I had Jeremy make my 3 year old grandson a Pirates Chest for all his collectible coins and silver dollars. As Jeremy was making my chest, I asked last minute for two iron straps, he did it for very little cost. And, it's magnificent! It's beautiful, durable and something my grandson will have long after I've moved on.Thank you Jeremy!Service:Custom furniture
John Lunsford: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueJeremy was great to work with and the piece he created for us is beautiful and of the highest craftsmanship. I would highly recommend him for custom furniture building.Service:Cabinet construction installation
Becca Cain: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueExcellent quality and attention to detail! Really incredible work!Service:Desk construction installation
Joe Froelich: When we decided we wanted to get our son a loft bed, we weren’t able to find what we wanted online. We contacted Jeremy and gave him an idea of what we wanted. He was quick to respond and excited to build us a bed. Throughout the whole process Jeremy was easy to get in touch with and also provided suggestions for areas he thought the design could be enhanced. We would not hesitate to recommend Jeremy to friends or family and would absolutely use him again if the need arises for more custom woodworking.Service:Custom furniture
Terry Tamari: I am more than pleased with our pantry from Whitehurst Custom Woodworking--in fact, I am over the moon with it! Jeremy was wonderful to work with--responsive, attentive to detail, and very helpful--and the piece he created for our kitchen is nothing short of a work of art. I am already planning the next project to ask him about. I recommend Whitehurst Custom Woodworking whole-heartedly--it was a terrific experience from start to finish.Services:Woodworking,Furniture design,Custom furniture
Veronica Zachry: I contacted Jeremy about making a custom dog crate cradenza, and boy did he deliver! The craftsmanship is amazing, and he was very quick to respond to messages. He made sure to check in with me along the way to make decisions about the finer details as the project went along.Overall good quality and excellent service! The piece came out better than I imagined. We will definitely be using him for our future custom furniture needs.Service:Custom furniture
Heather Easley: Jeremy is truly AMAZING! We hired him to build our dining set (that we ultimately want as a family item that can be passed down through generations). He reached out to us every step of the way to be sure he did exactly what we wanted. What we received exceeded our expectations and my heart is full of gratitude & joy that we have this amazing table to break bread and have wonderful conversations at ❤️. I highly recommend him!
Daniel Easley: I highly recommend Whitehurst Custom Woodworking. We commissioned Jeremy to build us a dining room table in a rustic, farmhouse style and he really wowed us with the results. It is a stunning piece and exactly what we were looking for. Jeremy is a true professional. He walked us through the design process and worked hard to figure out what we really wanted. He was able to take our rough ideas and really shape them into a beautiful design. The table turned out better than I could have imagined. 5 stars!Services:Table construction installation,Delivery,Custom furniture
Katie Ort: My husband and I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find a piece of furniture to hold our record player, receiver and records. We also planned for the piece to be something we passed down to our children, so we were prepared to pay a premium to acquire something high quality.Since record players aren't common, we didn't have much success from high-end boutique shops, they were either too large or in a style we didn't care for.We reached out to Whitehurst Custom Woodworking to commission the piece with specific dimensions, layout and quality already in mind.In terms of style, we wanted something that looked modern, but we had trouble articulating specifics which concerned us.Whitehurst Custom Woodworking was very patient with us, helping us make decisions about overall style, materials and finishings. The finished product blew us away, it is incredible to see the idea come to life. The craftsmanship is stunning and the guidance we were given designing the piece made us feel very taken care of.We couldn't be happier with our decision to use Whitehurst Custom Woodworking and are already inquiring about commissioning a set of dining chairs.Services:Cabinet construction installation,Custom furniture
