EDP: I like the small space of this library but one particular staff member, an older white woman with long white hair is the loudest worker I have ever heard. She threw books into the bookshelves for reshelving and was so loud I couldn't believe it. She slammed books onto the floor. It was bizarre. To be that loud in a library and she was a staff member. Is there any reason for this? I've worked at a university library before and you can be quiet if you try. It was like she was trying to be as loud as possible and it was very aggravating. Especially when you're trying to concentrate. Someone above her needs to have a word with her. Cause for a staff member to act like that in a library is unacceptable.

When I called standing outside, the librarian spoke to me like I was a child. That I should’ve KNOWN I needed to make an appointment to pick up a book.I apologized and said I hadn’t needed to at the other locations, and that the email didn’t specifically say I needed to. She sighed loudly and said “I guess I can give you your book this time. Next time make an appointment”.Needless to say there won’t be a next time and I’ll just go to another location. Didn’t realize it was such an inconvenience to check out a book.

JC Day: Tried to return books - sign said to put them in a bin at the top of the stairs. I went up, no bin. I came back down to put them in the normal book return, and it was locked. How am I supposed to return books when it’s closed?

If you're there during summer vacation it's like a typical library with very nice staff and a clean, calm atmosphere.However, during the school year it apparently becomes a babysitting hub for teens that (assumingly) have no where else to go. These children make any experience you have here less than ideal as they group up and are often extremely loud and foul-mouthed.There is a seating area with tables and some couchs and it seems during the school year it's not unheard of to find trash or left over food there.There is a posted security guard, however I've only ever observed them addressing the noise from the students once.It's sad. Its as nice place but I wouldn't visit again during the school week because these kids ruin it.

R. Reynolds: Athens Drive is my favorite branch of Wake County's Public Library system. The staff there is wonderful and exceptionally helpful to patrons seeking to make use of the library's resources; whether it's doing research, checking out books, using the internet computers, or Microsoft's Office Suite of applications; the staff is always available and ready to provide assistance. Because it is the only school that is part of the Wake County Public Library system, it has resources designated for Athens High School students only, as well as resources for public library patrons only; namely, the internet computers. The majority of the computers in the library are for student use and not available to public library patrons, as IT IS a high school. However, there are about 12 or so computers designated for use by public library patrons only, so students are not supposed to be using those computers. When school is in session during the school day, typically from 7:30 am until after 3 pm, public library patrons are not allowed to use computers designated for student use. This is most likely the reason why another reviewer was asked if they were a student. and not because they were unwelcome at the library. This branch of the library is a great resource for the surrounding community, and I hope it continues to remain a part of Wake County's Public Library system.

Keegan Smith: It's a shame that my closest public library doesn't make me feel welcome.It was likely because I was an adult male without children that visited during school hours but if you're going to be hostile and ask someone "Excuse me are you a student?" in a hostile tone of voice you add shouldn't be open to the public during school hours.This is not anything against the Wake County library system as a whole. I have visited the Cameron Village location and had a great experience. Just be ready to be questioned if you visit during school hours.

Seattle, WA)I expressed my desire to wait for the computer of my choice she gave me information about how the computer area works....Half an hour later an older staff member arrives and makes a comment along the lines of "since we have adult children" sleeping in the library.I was not sleeping and I found this woman's attitude and demeanor to be hostile, aggressive and not representative of the direction of the city.While this staff member did not speak to me directly I do hope this review provides insight into her behavior.
