Susan Hennenkamp: Fui a Er el 5 de julio con cálculos renales. Tomó de 2 a 3 horas obtener ayuda, pero una vez que comenzó la atención, todos fueron geniales. RJ Hixson: After sudden discomfort/pain signaled a probable kidney stone recently, some nice ladies at 4-5 different Raleigh/Cary urology practices told me I could get an appointment sometime in a few weeks. OK, that’s wasn’t going to work but I dreaded wasting an entire day at an emergency room and dealing with the bills that trickle in for months afterwards. Anyway, on my last Google search before heading to the hospital, I decided to call the kidney stone hotline even though I worried it might be some kind of marketing gimmick. Nope. A nice lady set me up with an appointment that same morning with a Wake Med urologist (Dr. Kalorin) who did indeed find a kidney stone and prescribed some meds which helped immediately. Shortly after that visit, Dr. Kalorin had to remove the stone surgically – which went very well. I am so thankful the Kidney Stone Center leaves open appointment slots for people who are suffering with kidney stone pain.
William and Diane MacKrell: Dr. Chawla performed a procedure and I give him 5 stars. From the preliminary counseling through the procedure and during follow-up, he took excellent care of me. I recommend him without hesitation.

Jessica Tumbiolo: At my visit with Dr. Kalorin he basically dismissed me and said there were no stones, sent me home, and scheduled a follow up visit in a few weeks. I ended up not going to my follow up because Dr. Kalorin made me feel like I was crazy with my pain, and by saying there were no stones. Fast forward 4 months later of intermitten pain I finally called WakeMed urology to see a different Physician in an office closer to my home. At the appt I was told I had a 6 mm ureter stone and 6/7 mm kidney stone in the OTHER kidney. I ended up having to have shockwave lithotripsy to break down the ureter stone. Following the procedure I was able to pass the fragments from that stone, but when I went for my follow up to the procedure I was told that ANOTHER stone had expelled from that same kidney and is in the ureter again. So, I now have a kidney stone (9 months later

Jeff Brower: So I started feeling acute flank pain on Friday , August 26, 2022 which I knew from experience was a kidney stone. I thought I could pass it, but the pain increased in intensity to the point that after 2 days I knew I needed to go to the emergency room. I went to Wake Med north emergency department (despite the pain, a very good experience) and spent all of Sunday evening there receiving 2 separate IV doses of morphine to control the pain. I was released around 1 AM Monday with a promise that Wake Med urology would call me Monday morning to set up an appointment to be seen by a urologist. I asked what was the earliest time I could call if I haven’t heard from them (I was still in acute pain: 10/10 once the OxyContin wore off). They said to give them until 8 AM before you call. I couldn’t have been more thankful for Kristy who called me at 7:20 AM Monday morning to set an appointment!! She told me that especially on Monday mornings (i.e. after the weekend) she gets to her office early to prioritize the calls. She reviewed my records from the emergency department and quickly realized I needed an appointment ASAP which she was able to set up for 8:40 AM that morning! Now that is exceptional caring and medical professionalism.I was promptly seen by Dr. Chawla’s RN Amy. I received an injection of tramadol which greatly reduced the pain within 5 to 10 minutes. Dr. Chawla rearranged his surgical schedule so I could be seen the next day!! That is absolutely amazing and I am so very thankful. I’ve also needed to call with several questions and I received timely return calls especially from Laura who also works with Dr. Chawla.So as you can probably guess I could not be more pleased with my experience with this office, Dr. Chawla, and his staff. Ironically just like my pain level when it maxes out, I would rate this office and staff a 10 out of 10!!!

Doug Carter: I’m pleased with my Dr. The Dr has to have a staff that supports them with all the task required to get patients ready for surgery. Myself and many more are on blood thinners. The office staff has to contact heart drs to get complete instructions on how to stop blood thinners. In my case I had to bridge my meds. This was a nightmare. The Wakemed system needs to create a foolproof way that I and many more do not fall through the cracks and have their surgery postponed It’s the office staff that has to do this. The dr has to cure the patient.

M Sweat: I had an emergency situation develop after surgery to remove a bladder stone. I drove to the North Raleigh location as that was the only one that I was told could help me. The nurses there were the absolute finest. They helped me get through this terrible mess. I was bleeding and in pain and they took great care of me. Charlene Rafferty: I had one visit with Dr chawla and I was very impressed. However, I had a fever of 102° yesterday, was feeling very lethargic. Try to call after hours, of course I didn't get through to anybody. Eventually called WakeMed Brier Creek emergency room, and was given the advice that if the fever responded to tylenol, and didn't go up to 103 or more, I would be probably fine and not being seen immediately. I woke up today with a 99.1° fever, after making 30 phone calls, I finally got a call back from Dr Charles office. Who told me that she wasn't there today and the fact that I had a fever meant that I wouldn't be seeing there and I had to go to the emergency room. What? I have a fever so I can't go to my doctor's office? What's up with that?Thank God I have medicare, because when I went to the emergency room, they of course confirmed I had another uti, which cost Medicare and taxpayers a lot more money than an office visit would have cost. I'm very disappointed in my care from youPlease figure out a way for people to get a human being to answer the phone when they call in the morning.
Chip Parmelee: The visit goes fine once you go through the hassles of checking in and just as bad checking out. They do not answer the phone and often do not return calls. I got plenty of paperwork after my procedure but nothing with the information I needed. Took days to get someone on the phone for a simple question.
Deb Flores: Super unhappy and we have yet to even have our first appointment. Called to schedule my husband appointment end of February and the first available with our schedules was Mar 22. They called him a week later asking to move that appointment to 3/30/21 at 3 pm. They just called us today at 12 noon to cancel the appointment because the doctor is at another location. So inconsiderate and rude to cancel an appointment 3 hours before when we both took off work to be at this appointment. The receptionist did not seem sorry in the least bit. So you can cancel within 3 hours of the appointment but if I cancel within 24 hours I get charged a fee?!

Alex Serrano: Being able to talk to someone on the phone in this office is impossible. You are not allowed to wait in a call queue. Instead you are directed to leave a "triage" message so they can call you back. I have bad phone reception in my area and/or sometimes I'm am unable to answer because of work so when they called they left a message with no direct number or extension. I then have to call again and start from zero by leaving another message. Utterly frustrating.

Becker pudo incluirme en su horario ese día, comprendiendo mi urgencia en términos de incomodidad y la boda. Descubrí que era conocedora y muy agradable... y el personal de enfermería y de apoyo reforzó ese sentimiento desde el registro hasta el final. Al día siguiente estaba en cirugía y dos días después estaba caminando con mi hija por el pasillo. No podría estar más agradecido.Mis seguimientos posteriores a la cirugía han sido igualmente agradables e informativos... Simplemente no puedo decir suficientes cosas buenas sobre la Dra. Becker y su equipo.
Dan Seaman: Mi hijo de 18 años tuvo una muy mala experiencia en esta oficina con el Dr. Chawla. Dijo que el Dr. Chawla entró y salió de la habitación en menos de 5 minutos y se fue mientras mi hijo se vestía detrás de la cortina sin explicar el diagnóstico ni darle la oportunidad a mi hijo de hacer cualquier pregunta que tuviera. Mi hijo llegó a casa muy descontento con la experiencia, así que llamó a la oficina y dejó un mensaje para hacer preguntas o para programar otra cita y nunca recibió una llamada de nadie.Además de esto, el Dr. Chawla envió a mi hijo a casa con un resumen de instrucciones impreso para continuar con sus medicamentos actuales, que incluían ibruprofeno después de recetarle meloxicam. Estos medicamentos no deben tomarse juntos porque se sabe que son contradictorios y pueden causar efectos secundarios graves.Llamé y dejé un mensaje pidiendo hablar con un gerente de oficina. Una enfermera de triaje muy agradable me devolvió la llamada y le expliqué el problema. Me dijo que dejaría un mensaje detallado para el gerente de la oficina y que me devolvería la llamada. Ha pasado más de una semana y ni mi hijo ni yo hemos recibido una llamada de un gerente de oficina.Tuvimos que ir al médico de atención primaria de mi hijo para obtener una referencia para ver a otro urólogo, lo cual fue una experiencia mucho mejor para él. El Dr se tomó el tiempo para hacer un examen completo, explicar el diagnóstico y responder a todas las preguntas de mi hijo.Buscaría otro urólogo en otra parte si desea que un doctor se tome el tiempo de explicar su diagnóstico y responder sus preguntas en lugar de hacerle sentir que tiene prisa por salir de la habitación. Mi plan es notificar a mi compañía de seguros sobre esta experiencia para que puedan hacer referencias a otros lugares en el futuro.
