Runnsun: The Capitol is closed for touring. It is under renovation/restoration. I don't know for how long. But they closed in late May 2023. We could only walk around the grounds.

Although many of the attractions weren’t open we still had a good time. Parking wasn’t bad this time either. We were able to ride the train and he played a while on his age appropriate play ground. brandi nunn: The tour was very informative and the link between this homesite and the Joel Lane house is talked about. Our tour guide felt it necessary to make fun of the way and I quote southerner's mispronounce words. We enjoyed seeing the house and grounds but not the tour guide.
Dan Jahn: Free parking and a $10 ticket gets you a 1 hour tour around downtown Raleigh that leaves from Mordecai on Saturdays. We learned some interesting facts. The seats are very hard but with ample leg room.
Farzad Ehtemam: The staff were extremely knowledgeable about the history. We learned a lot. The estate and the artifacts are preserved in really good shapes. It wasn't busy when we arrived and we got a nice and very detailed tour of the entire place. You should definitely think about taking a tour. The garden behind the kitchen was so lovely with many flowers and plants.

Anna Fox: This is a great thing to explore with your family in Raleigh. They have a lot of knowledgeable staff that works here as well. There is a never ending amount of things you can learn about in these museums. It’s very clean and very cool. It is also free entrance so if you have a big family and looking for something cheap/free to do. I would highly recommend the art and science museums!In the science museum there is a live butterfly exhibit!!

emily pierce: First, Andy the tour guide was well organized, knowledgeable, and humorous. He was great and had an answer for every question.By visiting this house, we learned about social factors of the last century (small and large). And their effects on neighborhoods both then and now. Dr. Pope and his family have an intersecting history.We would recommend this tour to others.

Michael McCaskill: My son and I went today right at 1:00 pm. Andy immediately greeted us and offered us a guided tour, which we gladly accepted. Andy spent 45 minutes with us, detailing not just the history of Dr. Pope but also how his history tied into North Carolina and U.S. history. Andy was not only very informative but clearly passionate about history and Dr. Pope. It was amazing have a tour guide who wasn’t there for the job but for the history. Thanks Andy!

Kevin Boyd: We had a wonderful experience at the Pope House today. When we entered the house we were promptly greeted by Andy who ended up being our tour guide. Andy did an outstanding job of telling the history of Dr.Pope and his family. He mentioned quite a few things that piqued our interest and he came across as someone who really enjoys what he is doing. This was a great learning experience for my children as well my wife and myself. I would highly recommend the Pope House to anyone

I joined the group touring for the Pope House Museum from Event Brte, which was organized as a free event by Connor for today. I appreciate that the Pope house is still in the spotlight in one of the most popular and busiest neighborhoods in Raleigh.Andy was the museum tour guide. Andy was always smiling and seemed passionate about sharing the details of the Pope House and the Pope family story. Andy did a fabulous job sharing how Manassa Thomas Pope (1858 - November 13, 1934) became one of Raleigh’s most influential African-American citizens of his day and the first Doctor of NC.There is so much history to absorb in this house. The most amazing discovery was the furniture, fine china, the decor, and the book collections, which gave a glimpse of what the Pope family had in their reading collection. Loved it!

Qnnqxn: Great place to relieve stress (and have fun with family). Barely any litter, pretty, and you don't have to walk too far to reach the woods.There's different kinds of trails, signaling which ones are difficult, and which ones are easy.Generally really fun to take a hike, but make sure you use a restroom before going, since its a long hike!

Raghu G: William B Umstead State Park - Reedy Creek Entrance.Umstead is a great place to take a walk in the woods without having to go too far. The Reedy Creek access is off of N. Harrison Ave. There are multiple trails and the best part is most of the park is shaded. I love Loblolly trail and the loop from the parking lot, reedy creek lake and back to the parking lot is little over 4 miles. This trail is a great workout. If you need something more challenging, I would recommend Company Mill trail which is steep and long. Please watch your step at all times as there is plenty of wildlife, tree roots, rocks, etc.

El agente del servicio forestal del albergue fue extremadamente útil al mostrar el mapa y las ubicaciones de las entradas, e ideas para caminatas cortas o largas.
