Nadine Barts: Dr Macri is good, I have no complaint about her. My issue is with the office staff and office manager. I had an AM appointment on Thursday, which was done over the telephone. I add the appointment to the calendar on my cellphone. Before the call ended, I am in the habit of recapping; going over date and time. I show up for my appointment to be told they couldn't find me. The receptionist then stated she found my appointment but it was cancelled. I never cancelled it. Then she stated it was not for today but on7/9. Which turned out to be a Saturday. Why was the appointments made for a Sat and if cancelled because they realized the error, why wasn't I contacted? On the day of the rescheduled appointment, I had to wait an hour. I can accept the doctor being behind schedule, but the staff should notify the patients. We should be advised of the delay, and asked if we wanted to wait or reschedule. I complained to Dr. Macri who would have the office manager call me. The call was prompt in coming, but all I heard were excuses. They're having problems with their system, the office staff will be reminded to speak to patients when there is a delay. Not quite sure what I expected, but it was not the brush off I got.
Andy Vrabel: Unlike many of the reviews here, I found the staff to be friendly and efficient. I did have to wait longer than I like but Dr Macri was great. She took her time to listen to my symptoms and treat me.

Catherine Glenn: Absolutely Awful, honestly a joke of a medical practice. A complete waste of money. I made an appointment and told the receptionist the two conditions I wanted to be seen for. I get there, pay the $80 copay. The nurse takes me back and when I begin to describe my conditions, she warns me that the doctor will only have time to hear one of my concerns. I’ll have to make another appointment to discuss the other. Then the doctor comes in, tells me quote “you have too much going on for us as a private practice. You should return to UNC for care.” The two conditions that make me too much are dermatomyositis and psoriasis, things I thought dermatologists would be equipped to help me with. When I press that I am in pain and really was hoping for some advice and relief today, she offers steroids that are quote “too potent and requires to wait 12 months til you are able to conceive safely.” I was surprised by this given the integrative nature of the practice, but the doctor literally told me that “integrative is just more of a name, than an approach.” They were so dismissive and treat you as a quick money grab. I’m so disappointed.
Charles Murray: I owe them so! I had been to another doctor with a horrible case of poison oak and got no help. I was able to get in here the next day, they gave me a steroid shot and stronger ointment and I’m so much better! They were prompt, professional, caring and on time! So many thanks to K C and the staff!!!

London Hu: Scheduled for 2:40 with a PA. Arrived early for paperwork, as instructed. The receptionist said very rudely, “Yeah, I cancelled your appointment because you’d already rescheduled three times. I did try calling. You scheduled on zocdoc, which doesn’t communicate with us, so that slot was already taken. But he may be able to fit you in.” I checked last night and the appointment was still on, so she literally cancelled less than 24 hours before. Needless to say, I left and will not be trying to book again. It’s not my fault that your internal calendar wasn’t translated to zocdoc booking, and I shouldn’t be paying the price for an operations oversight that has probably caused numerous booking conflicts. I rescheduled only once, from this Tuesday to this Thursday. The other appointments I cancelled were unrelated and occurred weeks ago. But I knew if I tried to argue, she’d just be less inclined to help me because I was already getting an attitude just from showing up. Office was old and full of elderly people. No one who entered the building was under the age of 45 besides myself. So if you’re looking for a quality experience, try a medical spa that has a dermatologist because this was just unprofessional and kinda grubby. Don’t let the website and online scheduling fool you. This place is disorganized and outdated.

Jeff Schroeder: On onboarding process was so bad. Got a packet of papers in the mail to fill out a month before my appt. It’s 2023. We’re still using paper by mail? Of course I forgot to bring it. Then got about 50 voicemails, emails, and txt messages reminding me of the appt. Appt was good, but there’s so much efficiency to be gained in this whole process. It’s just that the incentives for efficiency aren’t there. Can we identify spots on the skin by sending in an image? Appt took about 7 minutes. $50 from me. Probably another $150 from my insurance. Greg Hames: I went here for two different things - both very simple. First I was told the two different things would need to separate appointments. So I chose only one. I saw the doctor for about two minutes and they charged my insurance over $400. My insurance said that was too much so I had to pay $140. All for a visit that amounted to nothing more than saying hello. I understand they are a business but this is too much.
Robert Gresham: I visited Megan Kain PA-C and she was phenomenal! She heard my concerns and helped us reach a solution. She obviously believes in shared decision making with her patients and I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a dermatologist in the Raleigh area.
Kelly Perkinson: I took my oldest to see Megan Kain (PA) and she was the friendliest, most relatable person ever. Teenagers are hard to talk to and hard to please and the first thing he said when he got in the car was ‘I really like her, she made me feel like she was really listening and trying to come up with solutions to help me’. Front office staff felt like family and I honestly have to say it was top three one of the best doctors office experiences I’ve ever had. 100% will be going back to them for all my family’s dermatological needs for life!!!

S H: I went in for my nail. Although at this point I don’t know what the problem is (undiagnosed). At checkout there were 2 concoctions for me, one 95$ for face the other one supposedly for hands 98$. I told front desk lady I don’t need anything for my face. I purchased one for hands. I received a call before I got home from their office stating that my prescription for nail were called in andI had my face cream. Face cream, for anail issue. I called back to let themknow I do not need nor did I ask for facecream. I was told someone would give me a call at the end of the day. No one called. I will be requesting a refund. Josh: Receptionist and medical assistant was super sweet. The office was very unorganized.When I scheduled my appointment, I was told to fill out everything on the patient portal (drivers license, insurance, new patient questionnaire, etc). The appointment was scheduled for 8:45 and I was told to be there at 8:30, check in online, and wait to be called. So I got there at 8:25, checked in, waited until 8:35, and checked in again. Still no call or text, so I sent a message around 8:45 telling them I hadn't been contacted yet. Around 8:45-8:50, another lady drove up, walked in, checked in, and sat down in the waiting room. So I called the front desk and was told "their system wasn't working, so to just come in". You couldn't have told your patients that days prior? Or better yet, you have the schedule sitting in front of you, why not call the patients as their appointments come up.Anyways, I walk in and she has her mask around her chin. No matter what your opinion is, this is a doctors office. Everyone should be wearing one, especially if you require your patients to. She then asks for my drivers license and insurance card. I told her I did that online the week prior like I was told to. She said "oh okay" and then asked me to fill out the new patient questionnaire. I told her I also did that online. Last week. Like I was told to. She said okay and had me sit down. I then had to wait another 10-15minutes to be seen because they already took the next appointments back. I showed up at 8:25 for an appointment at 8:45 and wasn't seen until after 9 because I followed instructions. Makes sense right?I go back, the medical assistant was super sweet, but the doctor almost seemed in a big rush to get me out the door. I get it. I'm "late" and you have other appointments. But this was due to your office's poor organization.When I go to leave, the receptionist asks me for my insurance card again. I give it to her and then she asks ME what my co-pay is supposed to be??? Isn't the reason for taking my insurance card to run it and find that out?

With my particular concerns as well, this was upsetting- on top of how they were treating me in office.The last straw was when I called recently with a painful rash on my face, asking for an appointment. I appreciate they have a lot of patients but for a current, returning patient they don’t keep any availability for months out for emergencies?Honestly, all of this I could live with just fine and probably simply never return. Brittani: During my visit I felt like a burden from the moment I checked in. The check in process is stressful and the staff at the front desk are rude. The medical assistant had poor customer service during my visit. Lastly, Dr. Boyse spent 5 minutes in the room with me before rushing out to see the next patient. Lee Readling: Disappointing experience. It took a month to get an appointment. I went at the scheduled time and was told the provider was out. The (very pleasant) receptionist said I was contacted by phone according to the computer. NO, I was not. Everyone makes mistakes, however it’s still disappointing.
Meri Mitchell: This office did not take the time that they should to really diagnose the issue I came in for. It appears they are just trying to get as many people in and out as they can as fast as they can.It is impossible to get anyone at their front desk on the phone or to call you back in a timely way. I have had to call multiple times each time I needed to schedule an appointment.I saw Dr. Boyse a few times for a skin problem and every time she spent about three minutes talking to me and then left me with her assistant (each time I had to pay $50 to see her). She finally told me my only option was to get a really expensive laser treatment that my insurance wouldn't cover.The issue I was seeing her for turned out to be related to a problem with my thyroid that another doctor figured out. Had Dr. Boyse listened to my other dermatology related symptoms she could have pinpointed this and I could have been diagnosed a lot sooner but she didn't take the time.I have moved to another dermatologist who is wonderful and will not go to Southern Dermatology or Dr. Boyse again or recommend them to anyone.
Patty P: I had a really bad experience with Dr. Boyse on a case that she thought could be cancer. She referred me to a surgeon, and then had her assistant call me to set up an appointment with Duke to get an MRI. I asked to speak to her to explain the reasoning, but she would never speak to me directly and had her office to speak for her. I needed her to complete the paperwork for the MRI and it took a couple of months before it was all resolved. No followup to see how I was doing or anything else. I would not recommend this doctor for anything that was serious.
Jasmine. Jackson: I truly don't understand where the 4.8 Rating is coming from. I don't leave negative reviews but I did not feel comfortable with Dr. Boyse at all. She barely looked at my skin, didn't answer my questions and the medication she prescribed made my skin even worse. It's been a few months and I haven't seen any improvements in case one of you suggests that I be more patient.Everything in the visit was just so rushed.Would not recommend at all!
