HF Leah: My mother hired Catering Works for a little brunch 60th anniversary party. About 35 people enjoyed beef short rib sliders, fruit kebabs, shrimp and grits, pastries and salads and roasted vegetables. Lots of sauces and dressings. Kevin and Dillon were fabulous! The food was so delicious and beautifully presented. The friendly and organized service of those two guys was way above par! We had a great time and thank you for making it happen!

Thank you for a delicious meal and five star service. Maril Heglund: Do you need a place bigger than your living room to host a celebration? Would you like to have a personal, dedicated catering consultant to walk you through every step of the event? I used Catering Works and was assisted by a most capable, personable, and professional catering & sales consultant named Hollie. We used Catering Works' venue Laurelbrook. While we only had ~60 guests, everything was FLAWLESS. The staff was extremely attentive to our needs ... they tidied up the buffet table continuously and refilled our food items so that everything always looked fresh and appetizing. The food, itself, was everything that I've always known Catering Works to be. Delicious and attractively presented. I can't recommend Laurelbrook or Catering Works highly enough; I wish that I could give them more than five stars !!!
Laura Linnell: Catering Works was an incredible vendor to work with for our wedding. Kelli was incredibly responsive, accommodating, and flexible (they even helped us come up with a new appetizer idea that wasn't listed on the original list of options!). We loved working with this company, and the food was incredible- our guests could not stop talking about it the next day. 10/10 recommend!
Johnna Kashmer: We used Catering Works for our May 14, 2022 wedding and we could not recommend them enough! Kelli was our point of contact, she was responsive, able to answer all our questions, and her and her team delivered the best catering experience for us and our guests. We received so many compliments on the food for weeks after our wedding and the service was top notch. We took pictures during cocktail hour and were worried we wouldn't get to try any of the apps we had picked out, but we had no need to worry because David with Catering Works hand delivered us plates during photos. He waited on us during dinner while our guests attended the buffet, and he made sure we always had drinks throughout the night. He was so kind, patient and simply amazing! If you are planning a wedding, Catering Works is the way to go!!

lisa price: Catering Works provided exceptional catering services for our very small, and intimate wedding. Hollie was amazing to work with from the very beginning and went above and beyond helping our day-of coordinator with set up. Everything was perfect, the food and service was spectacular. I have used Catering Works professionally many times and now personally and they are simply wonderful, very consistently wonderful service.
Aidan Chambers: We used catering works for our wedding and wedding cake. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! Despite us starting planning almost two years in advance, they kept the service costs the same as inflation went up. The food was very tasty. We mostly worked with Kayla who was patient and thorough. She also was always quick to respond. Our guests told us that the food was excellent, in particular the desserts. I am posted a photo of our beautiful and perfect cake in the review - we chose it as part of the $399 special for the cake. I would absolutely recommend the company and Kayla.

Our guests were wowed with Chef Jill and Rich's creations and the staff went above and beyond to make sure each guest felt special. Kelli, the Sales Director was fantastic. She was thoughtful in her suggestions and on point for making sure everything went smoothly! We are so thankful we chose Catering Works for our monumental event.

Sarah Winter: Rocky Top provided catering and bar services for our wedding and it was truly spectacular from start to finish. Vicki (one of the most positive, vibrant, talented women I've met) kindly and patiently worked with us through our multiple covid-related postponements.On the day of the wedding, everything went as smooth as possible! From the passed hors d'oeuvres to the handheld desserts and everything in between was heavenly - we still have guests tell us it was the best wedding food they've ever had! Rocky Top even ensured that our guests with dietary restrictions were taken care of. Our signature cocktails were an absolute hit and the bar service was impeccable. The best part? The team made sure my husband and I got to enjoy every bit of it! I'm so thankful to Rocky Top for helping us make our wedding day the best day ever.

Kasey Rollinson: I was worried because everything from the dj doing wrong songs to my hair team showing up late had gone wrong with my wedding. I was in tears by the time the food happened. Rocky Top came through. Everything was hot and delicious. I had guests compliment all night on the food and still compliment the food 4 months later. I had 2 guests say that this was the best wedding food they ever had and that's saying something as they had gotten married recently too. I had 20 people cancel the night before my wedding and rocky top let me keep the leftovers. We ate them for the next week. The service was amazing, no one had to go look for anything. Kevin was amazing to work with. Everyone was kind. The waitstaff brought things for my older guests, they packed up my cake for me. The bar staff even brought me drinks while I was walking around. I never expected that. Highly recommend! Wish they had a restaurant so I could order their chicken meatballs all the time! Thanks for saving my wedding!

Kelsey Bowman: We had an extremely disappointing experience with Vicki Tong, who exhibited an alarming lack of attention to detail. It took Vicki over 30 days to respond to our emails initially, and she failed to communicate who her assistant for the month was, making it impossible for us to reach out to them. Throughout the long and challenging eight months of working with Vicki, we had to deal with multiple different assistants, numerous errors in detail, and several other negative incidents that only added to the confusion and inconsistency. Despite the disappointments, we managed to have a great wedding day thanks to the dedicated day of crew. However, the stain of Vicki's incompetence will always linger in the back of my mind, tainting our otherwise perfect day and thus why this is a two-star review.
Rachael Smith-Johnson: We had a great time Saturday night at an event catered by Rocky Top. The food was delicious and the between the gentlemen who was running the catering with the event manager it ran smoothly. BUT, our favorite was our server Patricia, she was always around, professional and her personality is absolutely perfect "peppy" and attentive. Thank you!

Chelsey and Jason Scheele: Rocky Top catered our wedding at the Merrimon-Wynne House in May of 2023 and everything was a complete hit! We did a couple of tastings to really nail down our menu because the food was a big priority of ours on our wedding day.We also really loved the flexibility we had with tweaking some things with our menu, and the team was happy to work with us on making any changes.Our plated salad and entrees were delicious, just as we remembered from our tasting! Guests loved the passed appetizers (such good crab cakes!!) during cocktail hour and the surprise late night snacks (who doesn’t love pretzels and cheese after a few drinks?) on the lawn during the reception! And of course the mini desserts were a crowd-pleaser too, especially the Tia Maria Cookie Stacks!The serving staff was exceptionally polite and helpful to our guests, which was feedback I heard from multiple people! I would definitely recommend Rocky Top’s catering for a wedding or any event!
Ashley White: AMAZING FOOD!! Almost all of our guests said this was the best wedding food ever!! We went for a southern flare buffet style since most of our family was coming from up north, I did not get a single complaint from anyone!! The passed hors devours were a big hit during cocktail hour as well!
Nadine Michael: We hired rocky top to cater our wedding and overall we are satisfied with both the service and the food provided by rocky top. The caterers were very attentive and responsive. However, the mini cupcakes were not very desired by guests after trying the different flavors. We had requested a 3 tiered cake for our wedding and we were told that they only had one baker who will be at a different site and so they could not make that happen. Strange that a big catering company only has one baker. Moreover, The Desserts we sampled initially tasted artificial but we had already booked Rocky top and made our first payment so we could not back out. Also, The leftovers we received after the event were not even close to the amount left once guests were done eating. We expected to take home all leftovers as this was promised prior to the event. I was informed by guests that the staff were seen eating from the food behind the scenes. Finally, when we (bride and groom) received our plates there were no sauces offered for the salad nor the meat. In summary food was good but dessert was far from it.
Diana Greene: My husband and I are a photography and videography team that has had the pleasure to work with Rocky Top many, many times over the years. And after years of working with them, there's not a single complaint I have. First of all, the food is always amazing. But as a fellow wedding vendor, there are other things that I notice that Rocky Top truly excels at. Their staff is always friendly and professional. ALWAYS. Their presentation is seamless and visually pleasing. They pay such close attention to details. I know planners/coordinators never have to worry if an allergy or special meal preparation will be missed. They are timely with service and also accommodating if dinner needs to be bumped up or back by a few minutes. If you are in the market for a caterer, just know you are in good hands with the Rocky Top team!
April Buttner: Rocky Top earned a C in our book for my daughter’s wedding on 5/6/23, unfortunately. The food was not the same quality as what we had at the tasting. The salad, grilled asparagus and sirloin were good, but the passed appetizers were tiny and sloppy looking (the chicken fell off the waffles and the crab cakes were minuscule.) The pesto chicken was overcooked, and cheese covered the whole tray so guests had to cut their own cutlets out of the sticky cheese blanket with the serving spoon. The fingerling potatoes were undercooked and tasted unseasoned. The water refills were also warm. Guests said the desserts were good—(didn’t get over to the dessert table, and I guess there were no leftovers). We were surprised and embarrassed by uneven quality of the food, especially after all the good reviews we had read, booking early, and having many conversations with Rocky Top.
Kyle & Taylor Marker: When I tell you the food was PERFECTION at our wedding, I mean it. It was not only plated beautifully, but it tasted delicious. We went with the arancini, shrimp and grits shooters, and bourbon BBQ glazed meatballs for our hors d'oeuvres, and they did not disappoint. Our entrée options included the blue-cheese crusted tenderloin, chicken bruschetta, and pan-seared scallops and risotto, and our guests were raving about their meals. For dessert, we had a cake, but also a dessert bar with some of Rocky Top's delicious dessert options (it was so hard to choose at the tasting because they were ALL delicious): Tia Maria cookie stacks, blueberry cheesecake squares, and mini banana cream pies. Quann and Karlee were both absolutely wonderful to work with and I cannot recommend them and Rocky Top enough!

Jeri Smart: We hired Cannon Caterers for our daughter’s wedding and we could not recommend them more! It was by far the best wedding food I’ve ever had and based on all the compliments, I think everyone agreed. The wait staff were friendly and professional and even took hors d’oeuvres outside to the wedding party during pictures (they were hungry!). They stayed to help clean. They were very reasonable with pricing. Hire these people! They’re the best!

For our appetizers, we chose shrimp&grits, stuffed mushrooms, and a ham biscuit and they were all so, so good. I could have easily eat so many of each! For our entree, we decided on a chicken and beef tips. Both were great, but the beef tips were *chefs kiss*. They were very flexible with some allergies and dietary restrictions that some of our guests had. They were very easy to work with during the planning process which is huge because I never stressed one time about our food. I highly recommend Cannon Catering for your catering needs.

Jamie Jenae: My name is Jamie Jenkins, formerly Harris-Courtney. Unfortunately, I, too, am a victim of paying a deposit and not hearing back from anyone in regards to a refund due to Covid cancellations. Our wedding planning began in 2019 and sadly the first venue we chose and started paying on went bankrupt and we never recouped the money from them. So we found Garden on Millbrook who had heard about the other venue’s bankruptcy and decided to work with us as far as money goes. Our date for 2020 was still available and we paid a deposit $1000. Covid hit and of course we could not proceed with our wedding. At the time, Garden on Millbrook offered to reschedule or to use our deposit towards just catering. We chose to just use it for catering and was told the deadline to use it was 12/31/2021. I began reaching out to them in the summer of 2021 to see about using the deposit. Phone calls were not being answered. There was no option to leave a voicemail. Emails were being sent back as undeliverable and then finally someone named Joy or Joyce called me in August 2021 and told me to send emails showing the contract I signed and bank statements showing where I paid $1000. I did all of this and NEVER heard back. Now I’m seeing articles and these reviews saying the business is closed or changed its name and yet, no refund issued. I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that maybe my now husband and I just aren’t meant to have the ceremony we’d hoped for considering 2 venues have just completely disappeared off the face of the earth but it would be nice to at least get the $1000 back from Garden on Millbrook seeing as there still seems to be some sort of human being handling things for them. I am not leaving my contact information here for the public but someone there has my information for sure and should just do the right thing, which now is a refund. I no longer want their catering services or any services.
Clarence Watson: Planned to use them as a wedding/reception venue. Gave them $2000 down.Then covid raised its ugly head, so we rescheduled, but covid was still in place with restrictions and lock downs etc. So we cancelled, and they refused to return the deposit, or even talk to us. The pastor even returned their fee. I ask them to return half of the deposit they refused. Filed a complaint to the NC Attorney Generals office who at that time stated any venue was to return the deposit and still haven't received any action or refund. One star given because I could get no stars. Sorry place.

Ray DeArmitt: HL Catering was the caterer for our daughter's wedding in March. They are phenomenal! All the food was delicious. Several people commented it was "the best wedding food" they had ever had. Their servers were efficient and friendly. One thing that sets them apart is that they build a kitchen on site. The food was so fresh. We had so much fun at our tasting. Everyone was so kind and I cannot recommend them enough. They are amazing! Everyone loved the boozy donuts.

Keilyn Luers: HL Catering Company is a one of a kind company. Not only do they have the best food compared to the other catering companies in the triangle area in my opinion, but the people also make it all worth it. This field is very fast paced, sometimes stressful, and is not your typical 9-5. However, the people are wonderful, the servers are amazing and hardworking, and I truly felt like a part of family. I worked as a server for them for 4 years before becoming a Sales and Event Coordinator, and I loved working in both roles. As a server, having the flexibility to choose my hours and see a lot of amazing events happen, while making a really great hourly wage, and as a coordinator, working to pull off even more amazing events and learn more about the events industry. The tips are great too! I had to leave due to moving out of state, but I still regularly come back to work events when I can, just because I miss everyone so much. If you have the opportunity to work here, take it! They expect you to work hard, leave all the drama outside of work, and be a good representation for the company. If you can do that, this job is a great fit.

Michael and Kieara Wedding: HL was the perfect caterer for our wedding, and I couldn't recommend them enough!HL immediately stood out to us because they didn't simply respond to our inquiry with a list of standard catering options, instead they scheduled a call with us. On that call they asked questions about who we are as individuals, how we met, and they took the time to get to know us. After that call they put together a completely custom menu, just for us. For example, we met in little Italy in San Francisco, so the table bread was sourdough and focaccia. Its the little intentional details like that that made it easy to choose HL before we even did a tasting. Their food is absolutely fantastic, and our guests had so many creative and fun options. HL kept the wedding completely nut free, and even created a custom dish for a guest who is allergic to so much they usually have to pack their own meal for weddings. Taylor Bissell: HL worked closely with us for our June wedding to help create a menu that reflected our love of food and accommodated our guests varying dietary restrictions. Everything reflected our personality from a frose station welcome drink, to the burrata cart during cocktail hour and the late night sliders. There was a sudden summer storm that made dinner service more complicated for the team, but they handled it so seamlessly that none of the guests noticed. We have received so many compliments on both the food and service, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Our tasting with them was so fun and collaborative, a true highlight of the whole wedding planning process! My favorite thing about them was their culinary creativity. They took dishes like chicken salad and made it original, made watermelon taste better than I could imagine, and introduced us to new things like NC shrimp panzanella. Katlin Voigt: After we got engaged in January 2020 we started planning for our November 2020 wedding. I connected with HL Catering at a wedding industry event in January 2020 and really enjoyed their food and how friendly they were in-person.We ultimately chose HL Catering because of the exquisite custom menu they put together to fit our cultures and style...and dietary restrictions! I am gluten free and they were willing to create a custom gluten free menu that lacked nothing - flair, creativity and taste. Our guests would have never known everything was gluten free! They truly helped cultivate a wonderful menu and when we got the chance to finally taste-test the food, we were blown away.Sadly we were unable to have our wedding due to the Governor's restrictions in November and we didn't get to see the full vision of their culinary creations come to life. HOWEVER as a bride who went through the ringer with several Raleigh vendors who were completely ugly during the cancellation process, I was so thankful that HL was accommodating and gracious. They were able to be flexible with us and still help us through the cancellation process that ended up being a compromise for both of us and a win in our eyes.If you're looking for amazing creativity and exquisite food, HL Catering Company is definitely where you want to look. If you want a company that is empathetic, compassion, and treats you with kindness and sincerity, then HL Catering Company is definitely your company!

I have always enjoyed hosting parties at my home for the last 30 plus years, but for the most part, I have prepared the food for my events/parties on my own. However, due to time restrains, I decided to use HL catering for my daughter's graduation party as per a recommendation from my wedding planner. On a scale of 1-10...I'd rate them a 15!!! WAY EXCEEDED my expectations!I wanted my guests to have great, HOT food and HL did not disappoint!!!! My guests raved at the quality and taste of the food which included pulled pork sliders with slaw, Thai Chicken skewers, tomato and mozzarella skewers with basil and balsamic reduction, asiago stuffed potatoes and sweet potato ham biscuits. DELICIOUS!!!!Miranda was absolutely amazing and did an impeccable job with the menu planning, set-up and rental of all the necessary items needed for the party (linens tables, plates and glassware). The display of the food was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! And I loved the touch of the menu items written out, framed and displayed on my kitchen island to let my guests know what the food items were. Despite the challenges of the Covid-19, Miranda made this party easy, elegant and efficient due to the requirements that would not allow for servers to be present for parties of my size. I will never cook again for my events/parties!!! Thank you Miranda and HL for a job WELL done. Could not be better!!!
