They said ok.So I call to reschedule when I’m 28 weeks and they tell me the offer expired and that’s it, I told the customer service rep what I was told and she put me on hold to ask her supervisors and then they said I shouldn’t have let it expire and they wouldn’t be letting me come back for my follow up, but I could pay fully out of pocket again but with a 15% discount.So we are out of the initial money and add on money, didn’t get good pictures of our baby, and also didn’t get the 8K.I didn’t throw a fit, because it’s not the service rep’s fault. But I wanted to come here to say either go somewhere else like Baby Bump 4D, or get whatever they say or recommend in writing because we were immensely upset and feel taken advantage of. The 8 LMTs I saw there were okay-ish to terrible. The LMTs seem to also bring a "chop shop" kind of mentality: they don't seem to understand things like eye covers, neck pillows, how to actually use aromatherapy or what it is, how to create a peaceful atmosphere, how to NOT TALK DURING A SESSION, how to work muscles from origin to insertion, what deep tissue is, how to listen to and follow client requests, that you need to have your music working (and not have it cut out constantly), that you are prepared and competent, etc, etc. Honestly, I kept thinking I wasn't choosing "the right therapist" and somehow wasn't getting the ones everyone is raving about. I have even waited a MONTH+ to get sessions with specific people who were 'their best' and it was all subpar. Not a single therapist there really seems to have "it." They would be better suited working at dental offices or at a computer. I did massage for 14 years and in 3 different states, and if this is the best Raleigh has to offer, then the standard is radically inferior to everywhere else we've lived. I honestly can't think of 1 redeeming quality. I tried to like this place. I figured there was something I'm missing. The only thing I'm missing is a good massage, because this place isn't it. Oh, wait, there is 1 thing great: the estheticians. The best massage we had there was from them. The most relaxing time was from them. Props to the estheticians.

As far as the massage is concerned. When you fill out a an intake form and note your problem areas, you’re suppose to go over that with the therapist so that/he or she knows the areas to focus on, the pressure etc. I come to be relaxed. I shldnt have to talk through the whole massage like can you go just a little firmer, can you massage my low back, can you do this and that. As a therapist you’re suppose to ask the client at least 2xs how’s that pressure and if you’re doing good, keep that up. If I note in my intake form and say my neck and back is hurting why wouldn’t you focus on those areas, if my intake form says firm pressure why would you give me basic Swedish massage with hot stone? I feel as though I had the most basic massage there. I went in with back pain hoping that the massage will give me some relief, but I came out the way that I went in, none of my problem areas was even touched for almost $90 plus a tip that was definitely a waste of money for me. I hate I have a balance on my gift card which is almost 200+ dollars left. I would rather continue to give my money to the Chinese massage suites. At least they listen to what I say when it comes to my problem areas , I feel as though they get the students straight out of school because those massages are very basic and generic. My therapist was just OK. He was surprised when I told him to go just a little firmer not deep but firm. I guess ppl don’t get firm massages 🤷🏾‍♀️ Once I use up all the money on the gift card, I will never return to hand and stone again. They were absolutely fabulous and allowed me to feel prepared and confident going into labor. Ashley spent A LOT of hours in the hospital with us and kept me entertained and laughing the whole time. I can't imagine that experience without her now! 10/10 recommend.

Emily Hodges: I would highly recommend CBW for birth doula and postpartum doula services. Maris was a wonderful support person for our birth, and I felt prepared for every scenario I faced during my pregnancy. I also took advantage of postpartum doula support which has been a game changer for me with new born twins and a toddler. I would not have survived the last few weeks without Nijsha's help.

With the goal to have a natural and unmedicated birth with little medical interventions, hiring a doula seemed like the best way to have another advocate in my corner. My husband and I operate as a close knit team so introducing someone into this intimate experience wasn’t something I was sure of but in the end, I knew we would need the support in order to have the birth experience I hoped for. At 31 weeks, we decided to choose a doula. As soon as we had our initial meeting to see if Carolina Birth and Wellness would be a good fit for us we had positive feelings from our proposed team, Maris and Ka’Tiera, and we decided not to look any further. The two prenatal visits were so helpful at establishing a relationship with the two of them and to discuss our goals while being informed about each decision.During the big day, Maris was our birth doula. We can’t thank her enough for being the energy presence we needed. She was reassuring, gentle yet strong at the same time. She really complemented the bond my husband and I share. Maris helped us navigate each step of labor and had continuous suggestions for pain management. With her help I was able to accomplish my goal of an unmedicated birth which left me with such a loving and powerful experience bringing my daughter into this world.

Kelly McChesney: Emily, Shaunda, and Raya were AMAZING!! We worked with Carolina Birth and Wellness after the birth of our son. Shaunda and Raya provided postpartum support for us at night for the first month and during the days when I first started back at work. Those first few months with our son were absolutely magical and I know this was in part because of the support received from the doulas. We were able to sleep so well at night when they were there. Raya, Shaunda, and Emily also helped provide information and resources for all my questions (being a new mom). If they didn’t know the answer, they would research it and I would wake up in the morning to find a list of resources I could explore (breastfeeding/sleep training/self care/teething/starting solids and so on). As a client, I also had access to a free consultation with a lactation consultant and sleep consultant. We literally cried when we said goodbye because they felt like family to us. They set us up to feel confident in our abilities as parents of a new baby. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Brittany White: I had an amazing experience with Suzanne as my post-partum Doula. After a very traumatic birth experience I was extremely overwhelmed and obviously exhausted. Suzanne provided so much support and comfort to me during the 4 hour sessions she came for. We got to the point where I just left the front door unlocked for her and she would feed, change, facilitate nap time for our baby then the minute she had a spare moment she would wash bottles, make lactation cookies, search google to help me fix/improve my problem of the day/week. I wish I would have taken advantage of the yoga classes, but it didn't work out in my schedule. Katie ended up in the birth room with us. She was such a great comfort and aide, she even took some pictures with my phone for me so we could remember the moments. Highly recommend!!

Jacqueline Kumar: Hiring postpartum doulas, specifically Maris and Suzanne, is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Their care of me and my newborn daughter can only be described as LOVE! Especially in the first few weeks after giving birth to my daughter, their presence and care allowed me and my husband to have and to savor many moments of joy, in spite of the challenges and lack of sleep and my slowly healing body. We ended up hiring them for many more days and into many more weeks postpartum than we originally intended—because they were so good at caring for our daughter, making sure I always had lots of food and water while breastfeeding, and keeping our house generally running smoothly. Maris somehow always anticipated my needs and always asked what would be most helpful in the moment. If you’re looking for a doula, hire them, you won’t regret it!
