Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach to recovery from opioid use disorder that has shown promising effectiveness in helping people overcome addiction and reach long-term recovery goals. MAT utilizes a combination of addiction medications, like naltrexone (Vivitrol) and buprenorphine (Suboxone), and intensive therapy and counseling. The medications help alleviate withdrawal symptoms and can ease cravings while therapy addresses the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of overcoming addiction – like identifying “triggers” that might lead to relapse, developing healthy coping strategies and maintaining sobriety.

Our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program consists of structured Individual, Group and Family therapy, case management support, substance use/addiction education, and relapse prevention planning. We help program participants learn healthy coping skills and develop an individualized recovery plan. Substance use treatment may also help people to repair/improve relationships and build better social support networks, decrease mental health symptoms, enhance self-esteem, discover activities and hobbies of interest and improve their overall health.

Because assessment is such a vital part of the treatment process, we have an “open access” policy in place – no appointment is necessary, but please try to call ahead when possible. Come to our walk-in clinic between 8:00 am and 11:00 am on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Upon completion, we will fully explain the results of your Comprehensive Clinical Assessment (CCA) and any service recommendations.

Talking with our friends is very therapeutic, but what we are offering is the chance to learn the skills needed to make the changes you want to see permanently.

Individual counseling allows you to develop a trusting relationship with one of our counselors so that you feel comfortable in exploring the issues that concern you. You will never be judged and can feel free to be as open as you want to be. You will decide what it is you would like to work through and what coping skills you may want to learn. Individual counseling sessions typically last between 45 and 50 minutes but can be as short as 20 minutes. The frequency and duration of counseling sessions is up to you. We offer in-office or virtual appointments.

People often come to couple’s counseling to work on issues related to communication, an affair, loss of connection or sexual intimacy, blended family or infertility issues and more. It’s not about blaming or finding fault. During your first joint session, the therapist will get to know each of you and find out what are the issues of concern.
