4worldlovers: Christina Palmer was born and raised in Washington, DC, and has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. As a child, she was greatly influenced by the great masters' works displayed in the numerous galleries in the nation's capital, including the National Gallery of Art, The Phillips Gallery, the Hirshhorn Gallery and the Corcoran Art Gallery to which she had much exposure and access.

Christina began painting at a very young age under the instruction of Frances Trammel and was inspired by Charlotte Raines, both Washington, DC artists who continue to exhibit their work widely. She studied briefly at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design (a part of the George Washington University) in Washington, DC, continuing on to graduate with a Creative Arts degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, studying under Ann Connor and Claude Howell, whose reputations as artists and art historians remain highly regarded in art circles.

She continued her studies in commercial art illustration at the Maryland School of Art and Design, and portrait painting with Danni Dawson in Alexandria, Virginia. Returning to Wilmington in 1983, she studied for several years under the tutelage of Saaent Celia, a reclusive master of dry brush glazing, a technique that Christina teaches in her studio.

She studied graduate painting with David Freeman at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina and has participated in a life drawing studio at the Dilworth Artisan Co-op with Tony Griffin, a former protégé of Ben Long.

Christina is currently painting as an artist, specifically but not limited to portraits, and for three years she was commissioned to draw pastel portraits at the Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital on a weekly basis. She is the owner of the Christina Palmer Art Studio, established in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1992, and recently relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina, where she teaches drawing and painting.
