Because of our extensive teacher training and surfing experience, depth of safety qualifications, and pure love of the ocean environment, you will not find another surf school that can offer what we can. Our qualifications allow us to offer much more than other surf schools for a much lower price. There is no safer surf school out there. We use INT surfboards, known throughout the surf industry as one of the safest and highest performing soft boards made. Our instructors are CPR, First Aid, and many are Lifeguard certified. We are the only surf school with 3 American Red Cross certified lifeguards on the beach during our surf camps. We only hire mature, professional, and friendly employees. Our instructors are dedicated surfers and accomplished watermen/women. We are skilled in the ocean and conduct our surf camps in front of Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue stand 4. In addition our instructors are either certified teachers, or have extensive teaching skills. We believe it takes surfing/ocean knowledge as well as teaching ability to be a good surf instructor. My name is Sean Griffin and I am the proud owner of Sean’s Private Surf Instruction, LLC. I’m 36 years old. Born in Charlottesville, VA/grew up in Wrightsville Beach – Wilmington, NC. I went to Wrightsville Beach Elementary, Noble Middle School, Laney High School and UNCW where I received a Bachelors Degree in Business Marketing.

In 2018, the best thing ever happened! I became the father of a beautiful baby boy named Sean the 2nd. He is almost 5 years old now; crazy. He’s an amazing little fella, I love him to bits and am beyond grateful to be his Dad.

When I’m not teaching surf lessons or surfing….I’m enjoying every second with my son (and our Australian Shephard ‘Winston-Dog’). I love skateboarding and riding my bicycle. I love canoes. I love traveling and exploring. I love music, playing music, art, making art; reading, writing; creativity is rad.

My favorite place to travel? Mainland Mexico, Mozambique, South Africa, Colombia and the Andes of Peru probably take the cake. So many amazing places in the world. Favorite type of food? Mexican, hands down!

JC Surf Camp offers week long programs for youth in which we provide campers with quality surf instruction and supervision both in and out of the water. The camps are two to three hours a day and focus on learning how to surf while having a ton of fun!

JC Surf Camp offers both private and group instructional surf lessons for fun-seekers of all ages. Now is the perfect time to book your own personal surf lesson!

Our private lessons include one-on-one surf instruction which entails a minimum of 2 hours of instruction. The first 45 minutes are spent on the beach going through a dry lesson while the remaining time is spent in the water with your personal instructor.
