A swim lessons program was first established at UNCW by Coach Dave Allen in 1978. Now, more than forty years later, the original swim lessons program continues as Wilmington Swim Academy, under the leadership of UNCW swimming alum Bobby Guntoro. Wilmington Swim Academy will continue to provide swim lessons at the UNCW pool while also promoting safe, fun, and fast swimming in the Wilmington community and beyond. In addition to swim lessons, Wilmington Swim Academy will host weekend swim clinics, lead a master’s swimming program, and bring training camps to distant locales.

Swim lessons - open to all abilities and ages from 3 years to adult. Whether your goal is to swim for fun, for competition, or for safety, learn the essentials at UNCW college pool. Small groups are taught by CPR and USLA lifeguard certified division one college swimmers.

Swim smart clinics - open to swimmers all ages. Swim smarter, swim faster. At these intensive one- or two-day clinics, UNCW coaches will lead participants toward reaching their best potential in the water. Whether focusing on starts, turns, or stroke technique, the goal is fast efficient swimming.

4worldlovers: The YWCA offers a variety of aquatics programs to promote water safety, water skills, and access to affordable and fun exercise. The YWCA Pool is open year-round, with open-air swimming during the spring and summer months, and covered by our Pool Bubble in the fall and winter months.
