Vehicles illegally parked within downtown that have three or more outstanding parking citations 90 days past due are subject to having an immobilization device (commonly referred to as a 'boot') attached to their vehicle.

Come to the Park Wilmington Office at 11 N. Second Street between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday to settle outstanding parking citations and pay the $50 booting fee. Vehicles not claimed within 24-hours of the boot are subject to towing.

The City is not responsible for any damage to a booted illegally parked vehicle resulting from unauthorized attempts to free or move that vehicle.

Immobilized vehicles that have been towed may be reclaimed from the vehicle impoundment lot once all requirements have been met.

There are a number of private lots throughout Wilmington who enforce parking through towing. Non-consensual towing of a vehicle is a matter between the lot owner, the vehicle owner, and the tow operator. The city does not manage these lots.

All private lots must clearly post signs warning of towing risks. The city regulates towing fees that can be charged for cars towed without owner permission.

May 16, 2023 - Current (2022-23) annual Faculty/Staff permits cover parking in the summer, and as a reminder, there is no longer a payroll deduction in June and July! No action is required for summer parking unless you need to update your vehicle information (in the parking portal).

If you do not have an annual permit, we offer several alternate parking options below:

Hourly Parking: Available at any ParkMobile location, $2/hour (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). See ParkMobile locations for more information.


Summer Permit: $45/summer (June and July), purchases in the parking portal.

Summer Deck Permit: $60/summer (June and July), purchases in the parking portal.

Virtual Permits and Parking: All parking permits are virtual, where your license plate acts as the permit—there are no permits to pick up and no permit to place on or hang in your vehicle! Because your parking permit is associated with your license plate, you must park with your license plate facing the drive lane (you cannot back in or pull through a parking space).

If you wish to pull through or back into a parking space: you must have a vanity license plate affixed to the front bumper of your vehicle to comply with the license plate recognition technology. Vanity plates are not permits to park; they supplement your valid parking permit to allow you to pull through / back in.

(If your vehicle is licensed in a two-plate state, and you already have a state-issued license plate on the front of your vehicle, a vanity plate is not needed.)

May 3, 2023 - Parking and Transportation Services wishes everyone success on their final exams. We want to help reduce your stress by sharing important information regarding parking.

Commuter permit holders may park in commuter zones 1, 2, or 3 (commuter zone restriction is lifted) (see map)

Night/Weekend permit holders may park in Hamilton Lot prior to 5 p.m. (see map)

Residential permit holders and Parking Deck permit holders must park in their assigned zone until 5 p.m. (see map)

Students without a parking permit may pay to park in any ParkMobile space (see map) or purchase a parking permit in MySeaport.

Students cannot park in faculty/staff spaces (yellow lines), visitor spaces (teal lines), or gated lots prior to 5 p.m., and can never park in reserved or service spaces.

May 1, 2023 - UNCW Parking and Transportation is pleased to announce that departments will now be able to access the UNCW Parking Portal to submit Event Parking Requests.

Each department will have its own login to the portal, which will provide a simplified and intuitive process to complete each event parking need.

If you have not been contacted with a department ID and password, please contact parkingevents@uncw.edu to obtain one.

April 21, 2023 - UNCW Parking and Transportation is pleased to announce that departments will now be able to access the UNCW Parking Portal to submit Event Parking Requests.

Campus Reservation System (CRS) will provide a direct link to the Parking Portal for event parking needs

Each department will have its own login information to the portal, which will provide a simplified and intuitive process to complete for each event parking need

Frequent users will receive login information for their department within the next week, which will provide access to the Parking Portal to enter event parking needs. All other departments or internal groups can reach out to parkingevents@uncw.edu after May 1 to request login information if one has not been sent to a departmental contact.
