Raven Rock State Park Campground: what do users think?
Mary Hampton: Very well developed Campground area, we stayed in the cabin which has a queen size bed and two wooden bunk beds, concrete floor is easy to clean. They provide electricity, heating, air conditioning and ceiling fans. You will be given a unlock code for the electronic lock for your reservation. Water and trash are close by and there is a well-kept bath house that is cleaned twice a day. Gravel driveways, fire ring, and double hook Lantern Pole are on site they're also two Adirondack chairs that stay up underneath the overhang of the cabin. There are Camp hosts that will check on you and make sure everything is okay they also sell firewood and deliver it to your site.Highly recommend, this is one of nicest Camp facilities I've ever been to, not crowded between campsites at all and very well maintainedRestrooms: Very spacious to include a family restroom with shower. Cleaned twice a dayPicnic area: Picnic benches at every site, extra large definitely sits 6 to 8 people
Lee Savidge: We have been going to Raven Rock as long as they have had 7 day a week camping. The staff is great, the Rangers patrol regularly and do not put up with speeding or driving the wrong way ( 1 way loop). Firewood is available and even delivered. The camp hosts so far have stopped to check that out stay is good when ever they see someone out. There is a nice 6 mile loop biking and hiking trail. There are cabins available.Restrooms: The restroom/ bathhouse is only 3 years old, it is cleaned regularly and per park personal doubles as a storm shelter.Dog-friendliness: There are always dogs on leashes.
Chris Hoffman: Very nice campground! Cabins are very new and clean as is the bath house. Park rangers were very friendly.****Do NOT come in from the S River Rd side. Come in from the Raven Rock Rd side. Especially if you are pulling a camper or driving a sedan. You will 100% regret it as there is a creek bed you will have to drive through and then go up a steep hill.
Vanessa Naasz: We had a good time there, but also a bit troubling. The rangers were down to earth people, pleasant, and informative. It was our only 2nd time camping and followed the gps on to the dirt/gravel road from River Street onto Moccasin Branch Rd. It goes straight down over a tiny creek and then straight back up. We drive a Kia Sedona v-6 able to pull 3500 lbs. and pull a camper about 3400 lbs. We did not make it up the hill. Had to phone a friend who helped us back down, unhitch, hitch up to his truck and go up the hill. So take the road Raven Rock to campground as it is paved then gravel road that is flat!Park is great for trail bike rides and hikers. Hikers take your walking sticks! Sites are well spaced and clean and full service on some.
Cort Thompson: Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry $21–30More
Ariana Mercer: Nice newer campground, clean bathhouse. The tent pads are quite large. Plenty of water spigots and trash & recycling cans. They don't allow alcohol. Not a ton of privacy on any sites, and some sites are more shaded than others. The gravel driveways for the sites are mostly very long, plenty of room for an RV or multiple vehicles. There are some cabins as well as tent & RV sites, they looked nice from the outside. Bike trails start right at the campground, and the main park with hiking trails is only a half mile walk. Overall a nice place, but I'd imagine tent camping in the summer would be very hot.

The Matthews Campground: what do users think?
Kim Ludington: Great campground and working with Lisa is a breeze. They are very helpful and accommodating. It’s a small campground which means it’s very quiet which we appreciated. If you are looking for lots of activity in the park this is not your campground. It is very close to shopping. It is reasonably priced. We will be back.
Colton Bridgeman: The Matthews campground was a very laid back very nice stay! And for the Raleigh area is really reasonable on pricing! They were willing to help out when needed! Perfect for working in the area, not to mention close to a lot of things you might need! We will be trying to stay here as mush as possible passing through! Thanks for the great experience!
Karen Cribb: Absolutely love this place. It's quiet, peaceful, and the owners are incredible to work with.
Fevered: Great location, loved the kindness, and hospitality from the owners their. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a campground in the Raleigh/ Garner area.
Elizabeth Ewing: I wish I could write something about my stay at The Matthew's Campground but I could barely for her time and that I am very flexible on staying there.. in return I got nothing nor anyone to answer my phone calls, text messages or emails. So finally I gave up when I was called back by the daughter in-law and made to feel like she was calling me on her day off and she was really too busy to talk because she was at a a very event and really didn't appreciate a call followed up by text and had to go. When I later got the shock from my face I sent her a text thanking her for her time. I litterly drove across the US pulling my 28ft 5th wheel to unprofessional rudeness with not a tad bit of more unprofessionalism. Thank goodness I found a place and I am happy. Not taking personal and hope you have better results than I did.
Natalie Stewart: Quiet.. clean.. real nice owners.. great place for that home away from home feel.. a lot of trees for that country feel.. we will definitely be back if in the area.. I loved my time there!!
maxx Promotion: Pese full place
bronson bliss: Nice,quiet and shaded
Michelle Harper: Disappointed in the campground not mentioning in their website that they cater to long term campers and won’t reserve a spot for a weekend months away “just in case” they have a 30, 60, or 90 camper instead. Then she suggests I should just get a hotel... 👍🏻
Jon Kirby: sure enough quite down up in there
Tammy Mooney: Owners are very nice! RV lotsare shaded, can not be seen from the road which makes it some what private. Quiet and out in the country yet close to everything. We love it here, hope to return when ever we are in the Raleigh area.
Kelly Callahan: Good people, great location.....
Eric Perry: Campsite is off an unmarked gravel road with 7 full hookups for RVs. Run by Dan and Lisa Matthews from Capital City Customs which is next door, so you have a world class Airstream shop for a neighbor. The site is very quiet but very close to Cary, South Raleigh, Fuquay Varina, Apex, and Garner. Really super location. The road lines up with Denlee St on the opposite side of Lake Wheeler Rd.
t Tanner: Quiet and secluded place. It's only a few mins from Raleigh!
