Douglas Furs of Raleigh: what do users think?
Sixx: I moved to Raleigh in 2016 and my parents moved here in 2019. I told my mother about this place and told her we should store our coats here. I even had them alter my mink jacket. We have been storing our coats (4 in total) there ever since.Douglas furs just had a big “sale” this weekend where you were supposed to get a good deal on new and pre owned furs. BULL!! First….the selection for small people sizes 4 or 6 was almost nonexistent which was very disappointing and discriminatory. And if you found a pre owned coat they would charge you half of a person to alter it to your size. Why when you had little to non coats in small sizes. Second….the prices were not comparable, very expensive. Third… the sale person was mot helpful at all. Fourth….I brought my friend there and the sales person who was initially helping me put all his energy into helping my friend. I guess it’s because they had a massive selection of coats in her size. He totally stopped helping me and kept trying to push a coat onto to me that I didn’t want. To add insult to injury, my friend (whom I told about the sale) found a nice coat and headband when it was me who wanted to walk out with a new coat and headband!Don’t waste your time going here. Take a trip up north where the selection is more and the prices are less.…..WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOIT A ISED COAT?! It is discrimination when you don't have a large selection of a certain size and call it a"SALE" and then want to charge an astronomical price to alter a coat that's two sizes too big!I had a function to go to the next day and my plan was to buy a "NEW" mink to wear to that function. DIDN'T happen!!!!Do not discount my experience! The older man that was initially helping me STOPPED and gave all his attention to my sister!Being that there were not a lot of small sized coats, one expect that there would have been more effort given to me. Sorry that I'm a size 4 and have been all my life even after children! It's very evident that Douglas Furs doesn't take accountability for anything! People make mistakes and things happen, but instead of you owning your stuff and asking how can you fix the situation you try to deflect. On all the reviews that are terrible NOT ONCE have you asked how could you help, fix or rectify one's bad Experience with tour company! I’m what you call a loyal customer!!!!
Carla Loftis: Great company to work for. Owner is fair and ethical.
Lindsey Spain: I placed two fur coats on consignment with them. One of them was in excellent condition, and the other was vintage and in very good condition. They have done literally nothing to try to sell the coats. Every time I call, they just tell me that they are "on the sales floor." I priced the coats at their suggested price and lowered the price as suggested as well. I had to pay them an upfront "cleaning fee" and "storage fee, " which means I've lost money in trying to sell these coats which they still haven't done in a year. I will not be renewing my consignment contract with them as they have proven that they are unable to consign successfully. I do not recommend them for consignment purposes.
Sheila Redmond: I took a mink coat in to get it repaired and glazed. The only problem I have is the pressure in trying to get you to purchase a coat. . I was trying to listen to the person assisting me and the Korean/Asian gentleman was pressuring me to purchase a fur coat. It was extremely annoying. I understand sales, but the pressure to purchase was too much.I don’t like to be pressured.
Karen Cockerel: They were suppose to fix a few small things like a small hole in the pocket of my fur. They sewed it so closed that a child can barely get their hands in it. I don't think it was stored properly. The fur looks really bad. I would rather drive all the way to NY to get to a business with more experience. It really looks as if they intentionally ruined it. They kept asking me to trade in trying to degrade my coat which looked fairly new before I brought it there. If you love your fine furs find another place
Beni Summers: CAUTION:For those who are looking to have an older coat repaired, I would not suggest this store.-scroll to bottom to skip the details---Relevant Backstory--Not too long ago, I received a fur coat from my grandmother, it was the last Christmas present my grandfather had given her before succumbing to a sudden horrific onslaught of medical problems and passing away shortly before I was born. After he died, my grandmother put the coat into storage until I was old enough to wear it.I recently wore this coat for the first time, and it was amazing. Unfortunately I was only able to wear it a couple times before a seam in the fur ripped. Obviously I was distraught. I planned a day trip up to Raleigh in order to take it to Douglas Furs (I live a couple hours away and this was the closest furrier). One of the associates took a look at it & stated that due to its age it could not be repaired and needed to be thrown away. After getting into the car and crying over how I was going to have to break the news to my grandmother, I contacted a taxidermist in a hail mary attempt to save whatever I could. She looked over the coat and repaired it in a single afternoon. Here's what I learned:1) even though the coat was old, it wasn't shedding (meaning the fur still had some integrity)2) due to my small size & the somewhat oversized nature of the coat, I would be able to wear it without causing too much stress on the seams3) the rip was on the seam in the shoulder, which is a high stress area & is normal in older coatsShe was also able to give me some more detailed information on the condition of the coat, as well as make some suggestions to prolong its life. I will definitely go back to craft the remaining fur into a keepsake when the coat finally does fall apart. The coat is still delicate due to its antiquity but I would expect nothing less from a 18+ year old coat. That's the price you pay for vintage.tldr: douglas fur told me to throw the coat away, a taxidermist saved it & told me to write a scathing review, I settled for this
MsSouthCaro: They picked up my fur at an Greenville, NC location which was convenient, plus they called to remind of pick up dates and time. The customer service from the young man was very good and professional. I was very pleased with the care and cleaning of my coat.
SHARRON LAWRENCE: Customer service fit for a Queen and/or King! Friendly staff ready to answer any question(s) while you try on furs for days!! So many choices available that it's impossible not to find your favorite fur & fall in love. Great place to purchase or layaway your next fur coat & accessories!!!
Wilma Williams: Trusted place that does take care of my coat every year
Tricia Phillips: I work there
Tanya V: I can’t believe someone rated 1 star just to be mean since they do not believe in utilizing fur. So here is 5 stars.
Doug Metcalf: For many years my family have used Hertzberg furs, purchasing, storing, etc. I inherited a full length coat and gave the coat to Hertzberg to sell. They did sell the coat in July of 2017. Since then the store has been turned over to Douglas furs. I have an invoice showing it was sold and partial payment to be made to me. I have called Douglas numerous times and they keep saying they will get back to me. I have not heard back from anyone. I would not recommend Douglas Furs for their customer service is not to be trusted. I assume a law suit may be the only option at this time.
Phoebe Briley: I recently inherited a couple of mink coats from my grandmother and was unsure what to do with them and who to go to for advice. A friend of the family recommended I take them to Hertzberg Furs in Raleigh, NC. and I can honestly say that they are a world-class furrier. I was thrilled with the service and advise they gave me. Robert was kind enough to spend a great deal of time talking with me about my options. After working with him today, I can say that he is a true expert in his field. He patiently and thoughtfully listened to my ideas and concerns and gave me excellent, sound advise.

PetSound Daycare & Boarding: what do users think?
jennifer Jaylina: Such amazing staff! They know you dog by their name and my pup always seems excited! They have flexible drop off and pick up hours! I also drop him off with his lunch :) amazing vibes!
Davis Lynne: The owner here is an irresponsible pet owner. He parks at the end of the parking lot and takes his dogs off leash to his car.Tonight, the dogs were running from him and one jump and bit my husband who was standing at the back of our car.The owner made excuses, got in his car without checking on the bite and without giving out his information. We went to the office doors and rang the doorbell. Staff were able to inform of us who the dogs belonged to and let us know it was the owner. We will be following up on this.
Melanie Phillips Lucky: The BEST! We are very picky when it comes to our pup and he loves coming here for playtime with his friends to get his energy out. Just completed his first boarding stay here and he came back happy and well cared for. Groomer is fantastic too. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Thanks PetSound team!
Thinus Bekker: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,ValueHaving an English Bulldog can be challenging especially finding a knowledgeable daycare. I have been using Petsound for Frankie Fig's daycare needs and am very happy with their service and love for animals.
Lena Shanholtzer: We have been taking our dog to Petsound daycare and boarding for several years now (our vet recommended them to us). They're the only people we trust to take care of our girl while we are away! Their expertise and eagerness to engage with Uma blows me away every time! I have no doubt that she is well taken care of, dare I say spoiled, during her time there! The extra precautions they have taken for COVID are noticed and so appreciated!! Nicole and team, THANK YOU!
Aditi Joshi: I have been meaning to write this review for a long time now. I have only one word for the facility and their staff ‘AMAZING’!! When COVID hit in March, our family was going through one of the worst times in our life. Our baby boy boarded there and we were traveling internationally and were not able to return due to travel bans. Every single day being away from my baby was pure torture and extremely depressing.Nichole and her team took such wonderful care of our baby. They were very responsive when I sent a message and would respond almost immediately. The communication was always great and this is really really important to me. The team even came into work to be with Bo on days when the weather was bad or any closures. They sent regular updates and pictures to me and made his stay as comfortable as they could. The staff is very reliable and prices are reasonable. I will forever have a special place in my heart for all that were involved in taking care of our baby. Thank you so much!
Greg Steimel: Amazing staff. They do so well with Cleo and so great to work with. They work with my crazy schedule and make me feel at ease leaving Cleo with them. Highly recommend.
Kayla Brendlinger: Staff were very nice and answered all of our questions for our first visit. We could tell our baby enjoyed herself and didn't want to leave. Definitely going to use them when we go out of town.Kayla B.
Lynda Chambers: Positive:Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueLucy loves the folks here. She literally starts dancing in the car as we pull up. Plus they have helped her learn to "play well with others." JOY!
Jason Fraley: Our dogs love it here! Staff is always happy to see them. Have always had availability when needed.
Joe Frazier: Always great care and lovely people
Jamie McNees: It's like dropping off my dog to family. Everyone is so nice and actually cares about the well being of your dog. It also makes me feel better knowing that our vet is right next door. Lots of love and play during daycare too! Our dog always comes home happy and tired!
Lakshmi Swamy: Our dog is in love with their entire staff! We feel like they are helping to raise our 'child.' It's clear that Nichole and her team adore animals and go out of their way to learn each dog's personality.
Qinyao Mou: I never tried other doggie day care, but I definitely love this place! They always love and take good care of my big boy, and I also learned many useful tips about my dog's nutrition, dental care, behavior etc. There's an animal hospital right next to the door, so they can coordinate with the vet to check on dogs if needed. Also there's a groomer coming every week, because my dog really hates the water, in this case it's better for him to be groomed in a more relaxed environment. Everyone is so nice and helpful, I'm really happy to see my puppy make a lot of fur friends here.
Casey Bartlett: After trying out several other doggy day care facilities in Cary before we found this one, I can say confidently that PetSound Daycare is LEGIT and very impressive. They work with all types of dogs, whether it is age (puppies to old timers), behaviors (shy to active), or size. Our dog Willow, a 40# border collie mix, felt right at home here. We decided to bring her twice a week for full days so that she can play with all of her furry and human friends. It was by chance that I found this place. I searched several doggy daycares on google, and read each place's reviews. The google reviews were great for both the daycare and veterinary hospital, and I saw 1 5 star review on yelp. I called one day and spoke to Nicole, who I started to realize is an amazing human. We met in person at the Dog Days of Cary event to learn more about what the facility is like, and decided to have our pup come for an assessment. Nicole puts all of her energy and effort into this place, and it shows. All of the dogs are well cared for and loved there. Long story short, this place is now our second home for Willow. Now when we get ready to go to daycare, we tell Willow that we are on our way to see the puppies!!! And she goes crazy and goes right to the door waiting for us to put the leash on her. She jumps on Nicole or Katie once we get inside to drop her off in the mornings, and is like Mom who?? Haha! We just feel really thankful to have found such a great place and I want to spread the good word that if you're looking for a great, caring, loving, friendly place to bring your dog where you don't have to worry about them, then this is the place.PS. We follow them on facebook because sometimes they post photos or videos of the puppy play time!! Really cool opportunity to watch our baby play with her friends.
Bobbie F: We love Nicole and her team at Petsound Daycare and Boarding! More importantly, so does our dog Daisy! We know that our furbaby is well cared for, safe, and having the time of her life when we board her. Our daughter loves to see Daisy playing with her new friends in the Facebook videos, and they are always very responsive if we ask questions. They love their clients and treat them like family! Their prices are very affordable, with a clean, well monitored environment, and is conveniently located next to our Vet (Petsound Animal Hospital). We highly recommend them and wouldn't trust our furbaby to anyone else!
Jessica Earley: The girls at PetSound Daycare/Boarding are great! They do an amazing job with our German Shepherd, who can be a little nervous from time to time. Can't recommend them enough!
Leanna Camara: I cannot think of a better place for my pup to go! He is so excited when I drop him off & happy & tired when I pick him up. Nichole & Tiffany are absolutely outstanding, have the patience of saints & truly go above and beyond. I can tell how much my dog loves them just by how he acts when he sees them. My dog is also a rescue and had horrible separation anxiety initially. Daycare has helped him so much both socially and psychologically. I also love the fact that it's a one stop shop for me since my Dog also goes to the vet side. I truly am grateful to have such an awesome place to take my dog & for the wonderful staff there!
Mike Fox: I normally use a cat sitter for a long trip but one of my cats got sick the week before so I decided that boarding her at a vet would be better for her and her care requirements were too much to ask of the pet sitter. That was a great decision, luckily they had room for her at the last minute and then they took excellent care of her, including meds and special feeding requirements. She came home healthier than she went in.
