Guitar Center: what do users think?
mishael dukes: Hey !! Just wanted rekindled my skills as a guitar player & came to this particular guitar center. If anyone is to buy any merchandise from Guitar center I recommend this guitar center above all. If there’s ever an employee you need to assist you. Ask for james, you will not be unsatisfied.
jUSTIN nOPE: I guess I've gotten used to the Fayetteville store, I forgot that old-school 'don't bother the employees they're cooler than you" attitude. Thanks for the reminder!
Nagendran M: Absolutely love the experience with this Guitar Center located in West Cary. I made a reservation for speakers and needed help and suggestions regarding how to set it up... had all the help I could get. Bobby - the owner probably, is an awesome person to work with and a nice gentleman answered all my questions. Bobby went out of the way to help me with my rental. Very helpful people at work and I will recommend to my friends and family!!
Pat Millen: Brought in a pedal for exchange today. They offered me $80. Went to music go round, 15 mins down the road, and got $170 for it.
Big Bizznazz: My experience in guitar center was was pointless . Nobody came to help me. Nobody even thought of helping me. It was at least six people working I had to find my own equipment. Bring it to the counter to ask prices. A much rather go to the guitar center in Raleigh Capital boulevard. Just for the customer service and loan They're great
Bert kozlowski: Everytime I've gone here, I've been greeted with slack customer service, or none at all. Multiple times now, I've had products that I've had to return and exchange. I would expect to get more respect, having spend over $5,000 in this particular store over the years. But that's not the case. I bought what was supposed to be a brand new MPC One, which turned out to be malfunctional with hissing, buzzing and non-working components. Upon exchanging it within the 30 day return period, I was given what was said to be a "factory opened" MPC One that "had not been taken out of the store". When I got home, I discovered that not only had it been more than factory opened, it had been heavily used, with someone else's name registered into it, and all sorts of downloads and saved file projects on its hard drive. The file projects are dated, with the difference between the earliest dated file and latest dated file being almost 5 months, so I know it had been used at least for that long, if in fact that was its only user. Either I was mislead, or the staff has a bad track on their inventory, which either way is completely unacceptable, especially when dealing with the spendings of a $1000 product. This isn't the only incident, its just the latest. The amount of dishonesty, coupled with smirk and smug attitudes from staff is more than enough at this point, for me to never go back. I will gladly take the extra 30 minutes it takes to get to the Raleigh location.
Kemp English: They sell drum heads!
James Ladd: I have shopped at Guitar Center for many years and two weeks ago I received the best customer service I ever have from an associate named Charlie. I was browsing keyboards when Charlie came to help. I was very frustrated that I couldn’t figure out the basics of some of the keyboards, and I’m embarrassed to say that I was probably a bit of a jerk. Charlie admitted that although keyboards were not his wheelhouse he would be happy to help me. He undersold himself. He knew exactly how to work the keyboards and helped me figure out exactly which one I needed. I was looking at features that were not applicable to what I needed. He was very low pressure, knowledgeable, and he calmed me right down like he had a PhD in psychology. He was very kind and down to earth. I hope they use him as an example when training new associates because he is about as good as it will ever get. The keyboard I wanted was out of stock, and Charlie worked with his colleagues to send me home with a keyboard that evening until mine arrived. Thank you Guitar Center and thank you Charlie.
Douglas Heckart: Very helpful staff. Being a beginner, I was expecting to be talked down to, and they didn't do that at all.
Am The Man: Really love my guitar, and the sales girl who helped me. All was good and I’m happy with my purchase, however when they mentioned the warranty I respectfully declined.1000$ purchase keep in mind. Then the store manager or owner(not sure who) steps in and insults me. “You cant fix a guitar”. It kind of upset me and ruined the pleasure of bringing home my new guitar.Im an engineer with three discipline's.ElectricalMechanicalSoftwareI know how to build a guitar (and have in the past).Try being respectful to customers.Paying customers. Who did nothing wrong…..Anyway going to enjoy my new toyRock on!
Ben Holladay: Found GC looking for help with an old classical guitar I found that belonged to my late father. Even though it was not worth much, the staff treated me with surprising attention and detail finding new strings and recommendations on how to best restore myself. After starting lessons, staff has been patient and professional with all of my beginner questions. Shout-out to Charlie! Exceptional helping me find whatever I've needed! No pressure, never up-selling, just supportive and kind. 2 days ago I walked in looking to buy a specific model guitar and Charlie (again) took time to help me find a different guitar that better matched my goals and style... I am beyond thrilled with the sound and playability!I cannot recommend the Cary Guitar Center enough.
J.Bully is BullyCity: It may take a minute to get to you, but they are usually helpful and always knowledgeable
E B: It was busy and they were understaffed. Not a single person asked if they could help, was in the store for over a 1/2 an hour.
Guilfer Coro: Excelente lugar muy buenos pianos 🎹
Kevin Chamberlin: I came in to return an online order and it was a very easy process. The staff was very friendly and helpful
Jhon C. R.: Excellent product and price
B. Coppage: Called in today just to ask if a particular drum head was in stock. The guy asked me what size and type, and as soon as I told him he got real short with me told me he was too busy to help me. So I guess I'm going to 2112 Percussion instead.
Michael Shanklin: Great store with helpful people. Would recommend
Mac McCord: Good service!
TOSHIAKI TAJIMA: 今回は付添で同行しただけでギターが好きな人や趣味でやってる人からすればけっこういろんなギターがあるしキーボード等もあるので訪れるのもいいと思う
E E: Staff is either unwilling or unable to help with any questions you might have, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a musical instruments store. Couple that with the fact that you can’t try most of the things in the store before you buy them, you’re essentially better off just shopping online or going somewhere else.

Music & Arts: what do users think?
laura pope: Tommy has been a great percussion teacher! He is definitely an asset and we would recommend him to anyone who asks!
Keiriek R: Friendly Staff and helpful
Joe Christopher: Friendly young staff that were helpful. Sold me a nice medium priced guitar.
A P: Very helpful, nice well educated staff.
S. Graham: Wonderful staff. Very knowledgeable. Had my bass fixed and fine-tune in a very timely manner. I would recommend this place for music needs.
Gerardo Rivera: I rented a student flute for a month in October of this year 2022. The flute I rented was clean and appeared brand new! It was a Jupiter flute which was the same brand of flute I own. Ironically, the sounds/notes 🎶 were produced easier than my flute! 😛😯.The shop is small and reminds me of the instrument rental/repair shops back home 🏡 in TX. Lots of instruments and accessories could be found, bought, or rented depending on the item (overpriced in my opinion). The young people behind the counter were friendly and helpful. I appreciate the room in the back in which you can practice after you pick up your repaired instrument 👍. They do have a water 💦 fountain ⛲ and bathroom which is great. The only complaint would be the temperature 🌡️ was high (hot 🔥 inside) that day I went in.
Julia Hageman: This company has shady business practices. The band teacher forgot to return our instrument to the education consultant with Cary Music and Arts in North Carolina. He finally returned it and we were promised a refund for the 6 months they were charging us when we thought we had returned the instrument. I have been trying to get the situation solved and get a refund for 2 months. It has been a nightmare getting anyone to help with anything in customer service and even the education consultant won't respond to texts or calls. The company seems to be in it for the money and hoping you forget you have a contract with them and they can just continue to charge your credit card if you don't notice. Beware. The education consultant got them to stop charging my credit card but now they sent a debt collection letter-but the instrument has been returned. It's been maddening. I would never, ever rent an instrument from this company again.
Dorie Ney: Very helpful, understood my needs and able to help with choices
Briyanna Terry-Barton: The sales associate at the Durham location was mean and basically didn't want to help us... He pushed us out the door... But the Cary location was very pleasant and helpful... I will be going to Cary for anything pertaining to music from now on... My five stars is for Cary!!!
Shalyse Clayton: The guy working there was super helpful and knew right where the items I were without having to move. He also knew what items I was describing, for the clarinet, without a picture. Lots of items in stock and a lot of variety.
Claire Helms: Helpful and kind staff!
nick ilies: Great store great product and very nice and well knowledgeable staff 👍
Steve Thayer: Super friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Salad Gaming: Customer service was great. As a musician myself, the employees knew quite a bit about music as well.
Adileny Lagunas: As soon as i walked in, i was helped from beginning to end; staff very helpful !!
Visvesh Balasubramanian: Went for a instrument swap - changed size of violin from 1/4 to 3/4 . Was an easy transaction with very helpful staff .
Jennifer Aubut: Helpful and friendly staff. Had lots of choices for many items. Would recommend to others for sure!
Gwenyth Vuke: Came here for some music for a Christmas present for a beloved piano teacher. Left with three beautiful books and had Wonder conversation about composers and arrangers with the manager and two employees. They were helpful and pleasant!
David Sternquist: Clerk knew where the item we were looking for was located (she walked us to the specific display shelf, and went into a little detail as to the differences between the options (brands) that were available. So GREAT Customer service, friendly, knowledgeable staff, decent prices
Jessica Beaver (Ellareyne): Getting a rental for my son saxophone. His saxophone got damage recently and thank goodness I had their warranty, I didn’t had to pay anything for it! They said it could take 3 weeks for it to come back and I got it less than that! Always great service
Gil Fdz: Excellent service and very friendly staff!!! No doubt about it!!!

Guitar Repair by "The Fretking" Mark A. Kane, Luthier: what do users think?
Rob Fekete: I own 15 guitars and I have taken five of them to Mark for set up, re-fret, and builds and I cannot say enough! In fact, he is now the only luthier I will bring my guitars to in the Raleigh area. He’s personable, exceptionally knowledgeable, military friendly, and an all around stand up guy. I cannot recommend him enough!
Mike Krause Music: Mark’s one of the most highly skilled luthiers I've had the pleasure to know. Am thankful to have someone of his exclusive caliber keeping my guitars on point/where they should be.
Ronald Doria: Extremely knowledgeable and straight forward.
Andrew Taylor: The best and it's family.
Scott H.: Mark is by far the most competent, knowledgeable and professional luthier I’ve ever met…he has many years of experience in the industry as well as advanced training with the best of the best guitar manufacturers…namely Martin, among others, and I’ve seen him take acoustics i had largely gave up on playing and make them a whole new guitar again… I’ve entrusted him with many of my guitars and the work he does always exceeds expectations…highly, highly recommend!!!
Alex Brissette: Just got the frets and nut on my Strat replaced after 20 years, and I think it sounds and plays better than when I first got it. Mark's a really nice guy too, and super knowledgeable.
Matt Davis: I hate to give 5 stars here, only because there aren’t six. Mark is an outstanding luthier and a on top of that is just a fantastic person! You won’t be sad you chose Mark for all your guitar work needs.
Stephen Gillespie: Mark's worked on several of my guitars, and has been great to work with each time. Knowledgable and honest. The work he's done has been worth worth the time and cost every time.
Nacy McConnell: A true craftsman, Mark is both knowledgeable and patient with his customers. I highly recommend him for guitar set-up and repair.
Sanjay Patel: Top quality work
Simon Spire: Exceptional expertise, care, communication, and results. My limited edition Taylor has been fully restored to pristine playability after 19 years of wear and tear, and I feel more informed than ever about the intricacies of my guitar. Thank you, Mark!
Joshua Woods: I brought Mark my 1950 Gibson L-50 that I was gifted a few years back. The guitar is in great shape for its age, but it was in need of some love to get it sounding really great again and Mark has definitely gotten it back into tip-top shape. The initial evaluation was very informative and Mark did a great job explaining what he saw as needing work and what he planned to do fix those issues. I left feeling very comfortable with the work he planned to do because he had given such great detail about what would be involved and how each change would improve the playability/sound. He also maintained period correctness with everything he could, which I very much appreciate. I picked the guitar up today and am delighted to report that everything had been addressed and the guitar now plays as great as it looks. The work was definitely done with care and experience. I'm blown away by how much brighter it sounds now and how much the playability improved with the work to the nut and frets. I highly recommend Mark, especially for higher-end/vintage instruments that deserve a true luthier.
Brian Spehar: I decided to let the excitement wear off a little before posting a review, but I'll be honest, the excitement might never wear off.I took 3 guitars to Fretking. One in particular is my first "real" guitar I purchased in 1998. It was originally sent to a large music store to be Pleked and setup. When I got it back, I had horrible fret buzz which was not anticipated. I then took this guitar to Mark. After I got it back, it was absolutely the best this guitar has ever played. No horrible buzz, action set perfectly across the entire board, and just an absolute blast to play. The other 2 guitars I took in he custom made a bone nut (the originals were plastic) and leveled and recrowned some of the frets. These guitars are also just fantastic to play now. I don't feel like I'm fighting with my instruments. If you want an experienced luthier that will take care of your instruments like they are his own, listens to his customers, and is extremely transparent, look no further than Fretking. Mark understands that your guitars are a very personal item, and he ensures that your experience will be the best it can possibly be with your instrument. It's an hour and a half drive for me to get there, and I'd honestly not let anyone else touch my instruments at this point.
Colin Fleisher: Exceptional repository of guitar knowledge; showed me the exact angles at which my bridge and neck were set, and explained to me the history of Martin necks which opened a whole new way of looking at setup for me.Will be bringing all of my guitars here for setup and repair. If you are wondering if Mark is the real deal, ask around or schedule an appointment! You won't be disappointed.
Russell: Mark set up a vintage 335 and a 50th Anniversary Stratocaster for me. He did a great job! Both guitars are better than ever! So friendly and informative. Total professional. I highly recommend him.
Judson Hair: Mark has worked on my acoustics for over 10 years and he has always done a super thorough and professional job. He’s done two neck re-sets, made bone nuts and saddle, installed pick-ups. As a certified Martin Tech, he went to bat for me when my new Martin D-18 needed a neck reset and Martin agreed to let a Mark do the work under warranty with absolutely no cost to me! I’ve yet to have anything but an excellent experience with Mark Kane.
Benjamin Huffman: The FretKing is incredibly knowledgeable and very willing to answer questions and assist with your guitar repair needs. Would definitely recommend! — 10/10 experience
Sami Mardam-Bey: Great work. Neck reset, partial refret and new nut. My Taylor again plays like butter and feels like a new guitar.
Zach Demkovich: Awesome experience. Took a 1960 reissue Fender custom shop Strat to Mark for a refret, new nut, setup and various other repairs. This guitar was in rough shape when I got it and I wasted a lot of hours trying to make it sound good before taking it to Mark. His approach to guitar work is scientific and practical - even factoring in my playing style to the adjustments he did. He diagnosed and explained the issues to me, made the recommendations, which I agreed to, and then proceeded with the fixes. Now the guitar is perfect. Communication was excellent and the whole process was easy. Price was very reasonable. Will be taking my guitars to him from now on.
Jeff Cope: Mark treated my guitar like it was his own. I knew he was a good luthier but did not fully appreciate how good until I took my guitar to someone else.
Michael Stierhoff: Mark is a brilliant guitar repairer. I've known him for over 20 years and would trust him to work on any guitar.

Leechford Music: what do users think?
Becky Moore: I've been going to Leechford Music for 5 years. They have amazing teachers for all kinds of instruments along with a small music store that sells everything. The Leechfords are wonderful people and I'd highly recommend their small business to anyone!
Teresa Hong: Awesome little place. I bought a used sax and my friend rented a clarinet, we are both really happy about them. The store is next to the rooms where they have lessons, so you can hear and see those people playing music. The lady helped us today was really kind and the store dog (Stella) is super cute. Will definitely visit again if we need anything.

Harry's Guitar Shop: what do users think?
David Forrest: I have done business with Harry and his team since moving to Raleigh to go to NCSU in 1989 (it was the only guitar shop close enough to ride my bike to!). Glad I found them then because they’ve been wonderful to work with ever since. These guys are the only folks I’d trust to work on my guitars! Always great work the first time, fair pricing, and never one issue in 34 years! And yes, quality takes time so they sometimes run a 2-3 week wait on work but well worth the wait (better wait than have some new employee at another shop mess up your beloved guitar!). I’d highly recommend them!
Abe Hensley: the best guitar shop in the area. They may not have everything, but everything they have is quality stuff. Great staff too!
She Smiles: Could not have been happier with my experience. Harry helped me out. I learned a lot from him. Highly recommend!
LabRat Guitar Workshop: Love Harry's Guitar.
Tayler Price: My fiancé and I have shopped at Harry’s twice now and the service is always top notch! They have a wide variety of guitars for any budget as well as mandolins, banjos and other string instruments. The first trip, we found Harry’s to be the closest Martin dealer to us with a decent selection (we live in the Wilmington area). So we made the drive and so glad we did. The service and selection are both great. Staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. Our second trip, we were in search of a reasonably priced guitar for taking to outdoor gigs. After stopping at another chain guitar store we went to Harry’s. My fiancé noticed a used guitar on the wall that was very well priced and in immaculate condition. The staff generously let him play this guitar and many others for comparison as long as he needed in order to make a sure decision. He decided on the used guitar and inquired about installing pickups as this was the only thing missing on his wishlist. The owner graciously offered to have them installed only at the price of the pickups and waived the labor cost since we were purchasing the guitar through them. He paid for the guitar and we left for an hour to have a late lunch. We returned right at close where the guitar was waiting on us.It’s obvious how much care Harry’s takes of their instruments and their customers. Highly recommend Harry’s for any guitar needs!
Kathryn Adams: Very helpful staff, I told them I was missing a piece of hardware for my mandolin kit, and they were able to find a replacement piece right away!
teddy iversen: had my guitars G string break unexpectedly, and they were able to get all the strings replaced very quickly, as well as discussed what strings would be best to fit my and my guitars needs! everyone is very friendly, i highly recommend harry's!
Melissa Churchill: Went in today to have my son's guitar fixed. He only needed a small part and it was fixed in minutes. The young man who helped us was kind and thoughtful. Thank you 😊
Tommy Houmard: I travel from about 90 miles away to get my guitars worked on at Harry's. Terry, the luthier, is very efficient and made my guitar play like never before when installed a new bone nut on my acoustic. He stands behind his work and was able to work with me on certain specs that I wanted during the repair. Also, their staff is incredibly nice. They let me sit there on a Monday morning and play on all the expensive Martin guitars I wanted. I didn't have to go through TSA-like security and background info to play an expensive guitar like other stores. They just let me pull it down and play, and kept saying "you sound great." Even though I probably didn't. Good sales people like I said... Couldn't recommend this place enough.
Deandre Dublin: This is an amazing place and seeing all the guitars here, really inspires me to exand my knowledge on Guitars. Very well proces and engaging team.
Russell Phillips: I went there for the first time today and I really love this store. Plan to order a specific guitar through them soon. The people working there were great and super helpful, the shop selection and quality was wonderful and the shop itself is very clean and nice looking.
Joel Bowen: I purchased a Godin Session HT from Harry’s. What an amazing guitar! I’ve not seen these Canadian made guitars anywhere else in Raleigh. I was at this shop 4 years ago, and also bought a guitar during that trip. The setup on both instruments was fantastic. Apparently they setup the guitars before putting them in their walls. If you are someone who likes to try a guitar before purchasing, make sure you visit this place.
Daniel Sao Joao: Been coming to Harry's for years. There's just a much better vibe here than one of those big music shops. The selection is smaller, but so are the egos.
J. J. Swick: Best guitar shop around. I've been going here for decades. Current staff is very friendly and helpful.
Gordon Gross: Super knowlegeable guys. Great selection of guitars.
Sven Blomberg: Thank you Terry for the great setup on my guitar! My guitar plays so much better now!The team at Harry’s was amazing. They helped me with any questions I had and didn’t make me feel bad for being a novice. I will definitely be back. Thanks again!
David Schwager (Dave): I bought a Banjo at a garage sale today and Harry's had all the items I needed to get started. They were very patient with my questions and helpful and choosing the accessories. Will be back for sure. Prices were very reasonable!
tom smith: We have been buying from Harry for over 12 years now. They are Always straight forward and honest, even to the point of advising a less expensive model if he thinks it will better suit you. The staff are seasoned musicians and know the product. I would advise anyone looking for a guitar to not buy until they have checked in with Harry and crew.
Ramon Levine: Friendly staff. Excellent selection of guitars.
Shirley Burch: They were very attentive and nice to my grandson.
Karen Kern-Pedersen: Bought some new pics here to try out a Martin guitar or two. Boy that d35 with the three piece back sure was nice! They also had a d28 and a d18

Guru Guitars: what do users think?
Alan Pelton: Howard at Guru Guitars worked on my 1972 Yamaha FG-200 last year and man he did exactly what that old guit-box needed for a long time. It plays great! It’s high time to leave a five rating for Guru👍🙂
william hairston: Great shop, super helpful staff
Blair Tanner: They performed a complete fret level and setup on my new electric 12-string and it plays and sounds magnificent. They are not only two very nice people, but their work is impeccable.
Ryan Holzbaur: Awesome selection, super nice guys and good pricing. Everything you’d want in a guitar shop.
Christina H: Little shop with a lot of character. The employee who helped me try to decide whether to repair a beloved old guitar was kind and competent. I will return for future guitar needs.
Kristen Musgrave: I came to them with a question about a guitar I was trying to refret and setup myself, and Zack and the folks at Guru guitars were amazingly helpful. I'm a very amateur luthier and never felt "talked down to" or criticized for my less than stellar work. I highly highly recommend these friendly knowledgeable folks for anything you need!
Jonathan Richardson: Friendly staff, incredibly knowledgeable and skilled luthiers, & honest opinions on the value of your instrument. I have bought several instruments at Guru, taken lessons and had my guitars repaired there. I can say, without reservation, that you will be incredibly happy with your experience at Guru.
Robert Conolly: Excellent service and staff. I have had mods installed and truss rods adjusted by Guru, both perfectly executed. Plus, they will clean and polish any guitar brought in for service!
Peter Healy: If you need any type of repair or mod for any guitar, this is the place to go. Over the years, these guys have:- replaced the nut and set up a Martin acoustic- fixed a snapped headstock on a Gibson Les Paul Special (and made it even better than before than break!)- overhauled and dressed messed up frets on a Fender Jazzmaster- set up various other electrics- helped me triage noise issues with a mastery vibrato unit- gave very helpful advice on choosing pickupsOh, and they are always honest, courteous, and easy-going. If they can make it cheaper, they'll always suggest it. It's so nice to work with folks who obviously love what they do--the very opposite of your typical pushy salesman at a guitar chain. So why not support a local business who can make your guitars sound and play better than ever before? This is the place.
Andy Harbaugh: Always a great experience everytime I stop by to get gear or have my guitars worked on. These guys get it!
Frances Margaret Gehrke: I brought my guitar to Guru to get set up, and I'm so happy with the result. Excellent service at an affordable price!
Zeph Park: I have been taking my guitars to Guru to get set up for years, and they always go above and beyond to take care of my instruments. I highly recommend!
Taylor Shuler: I dropped off both an acoustic and an electric for some repairs. The staff were all super friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciated the COVID precautions with doing everything outside and all the staff wore mask at all times. I am highly impressed in the difference in the guitars. They feel 100 times better to play and the prices were completely fair.
Scott Anderson: Recently had a strat set up, which was in pretty bad shape. They leveled my frets, blocked off my tremelo and adjusted the action. It did take a while to get back but they did an awesome job, it plays amazing and I can't put it down. Highly recommend.
Graham Harger: Great and efficient service. Nothing but good things to say all around. They’ve setup and done work on two of my guitars and both trips were well worth the cost.
Mark Feiner: Howard did a most excellent fret repair job on my finished maple neck Strat. I'd highly recommend Guru Guitars for all your service and repair needs.
Chase Turner: Took my guitar there for a restring and truss rod adjustment. Dealt with Howard. He did a great job; sounds great, quick turnaround time & great price. 5*s
kevin laurencelle: These guys are very friendly and do a great job. They stayed in contact with me and made sure i was satisfied. A lot of places just think to get the guitar in fix it and rush it out the door. These guys show that they truly care about your instruments and have fantastic customer service. Gene was very friendly and treated me as if he had known me for years. These are the guys you want doing your work if you live in the raleigh area
Jordan Squires: Masterful luthier work and great communication. I have been coming to Guru Guitars since 2012 when Gene bought my Black Beauty Epiphone Les Paul custom. He graciously gave me slightly more than the guitar was worth when he found out it was selling this guitar to buy an engagement ring for my now wife. Amazing guys, truly! I have been a repeat customer ever since!
jrsmith8719 Smith: They advertised guitar refinishing but absolutely blew me off when I asked. They recommended someone else, who also ignored me and blew me off. I was just trying to get my guitar repainted in my favorite color. They seem a bit arrogant. I thought playing guitar was supposed to be about self expression, but they only seem interested in making money. Would not recommend.
Martin Armendariz _ Staff - RegionalMaint: Great staff very knowledgeable and friendly.
