David Morganson: High quality instruction. Very welcoming atmosphere. I was lucky enough to be instructed by the owner. No idea if this is common there but it seems to be. He is old school and obviously knows his stuff! The techniques and principles and details did not require strength or speed. The other students were great training partners and fun to roll with.

Jason is a very knowledgeable and experienced Jiujitsu practitioner and instructor who has a heart of a teacher and a mentor. The gym culture fosters an environment where both competitors and hobbyists alike can grow their skills together and form meaningful friendships on and off the mats. Overall, CBJ is an outstanding gym and an excellent place to learn and practice the ‘gentle art’ of Brazillian Jiujitsu.

M L: I’m a new student. The instructors are great and help you along. Lots of one on one attention.The building is older but the actual facility is top shelf clean. New condition.The mats have a foam suspension system which makes falls really easy on the body. Especially for us older students.
James Purcell: I've trained with the Culbreth brothers for nearly 10 years. They have a true passion for teaching, continually learning and adapting new techniques for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and self-defense. One of the biggest things you'll find here is their emphasis on self-defense; not all schools have that. At Cary BJJ, you will find a superior blend of sport BJJ and self-defense. Other key elements to this gym are its cleanliness (something Jason is diligent about), the friendliness and positivity of the environment, and the belief of the instructors in a warrior mentality that should extend into your everyday life. There are a number of world class competitors (including the instructors) that train at this gym who are always willing to offer assistance in improving your ground game. There is a lack of the 'bro'/machismo mentality here. My observation has been that the instructors are great with kids (especially Mr. Chris!), including teaching them important values.

At Johnson's you learn Taekwondo (it is not a belt factory, you learn and put in the work) but they do so much more. Our daughter was speech delayed (almost 7 before she would speak voluntarily) and delayed with all the things that come with this challenge. She lacked confidence, initiative and all the other things that come with being different at her age. She has grown in so many ways. She has found a home with the Johnson's family and loves learning new techniques and forms. She has found a strength I could not have taught her at home both physically and mentally. They teach the importance of respect, responsibility, confidence, and kindness. I love the fact she has grown in so many ways and has found her confidence with her new skills. She definitely no longer lacks confidence or initiative.

His excitement or disappointment at the answer to his question was all I needed to know. Taking classes at JMA wasand is very important to him. Now in 2nd grade his grades could not be any higher, but Taekwondo is still more important to him than school.
