Cary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: what do users think?
tater “cakesauce” Dev: Great place to train, top-notch instruction, and fantastic facilities.
David Morganson: High quality instruction. Very welcoming atmosphere. I was lucky enough to be instructed by the owner. No idea if this is common there but it seems to be. He is old school and obviously knows his stuff! The techniques and principles and details did not require strength or speed. The other students were great training partners and fun to roll with.
Adam Atri: Coach Jason and the team are great.
Ashley Goodman: Jason is amazing with the kids and his knowledge is incredible! We highly recommend coming here for child or adult classes.
Tristen Cook: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismI went to this gym for the first time and was instantly impressed with the way Jason ran his classes. He is a great instructor and his instruction is very clear and understandable. His class is very organized and comfortable. And His students are very welcoming and friendly . Great place to train Brazilian jiu jitsu!
Oliver Capiz: CBJ offers a vey welcoming, clean and safe environment for both the kids and adults Jiu-jitsu programs. Jason is a very knowledgeable and experienced Jiujitsu practitioner and instructor who has a heart of a teacher and a mentor. The gym culture fosters an environment where both competitors and hobbyists alike can grow their skills together and form meaningful friendships on and off the mats. Overall, CBJ is an outstanding gym and an excellent place to learn and practice the ‘gentle art’ of Brazillian Jiujitsu.
Steve M.: I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Cary BJJ on multiple occasions. Though it’s not my primary school, Jason has always been friendly and welcoming. The instruction and the facility are both top-notch.
Raymond Ching: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueExcellent instruction and a great facility!
Frannie Nilsen: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Brad Richardson: I've been training on and off for the past 10 years. I've been lucky enough to be a member of multiple gyms all over the country. The atomsphere at Cary BJJ is exactly what you want in a Jiu-Jitsu school. There are all levels of experience and different types of training partners to help you achieve your goals. Super friendly people and good instruction.
Aaron Roembke: Positive:Professionalism,QualityBest place to train around. Clean and Friendly.
O X: A very knowledgeable instructor and a very welcoming atmosphere. The facility is incredibly clean which makes you feel comfortable to train in.
Mike Golden: Awesome place! Super clean and well organized. Jason and the crew are knowledgeable and professional. I HIGHLY recommend!
Steve Snyder: CBJJ is a great place to train and meet your training goals. I enrolled my son several years ago, while he is in college. It is extremely important for me, as a parent, to have my child inside an environment where he will have good influence and mentors for guidance. I have seen his learning curve and performance drastically improve during his time at CBJJ. Jason Culbreth has a vast amount of knowledge, extremely professional, tremendous amount of passion to helping students, and provides a safe and clean environment.
Adam Taylor: The world class instruction, welcoming atmosphere and top notch facility make CBJ a great gym.Jason and Drew have cultivated a community develops themselves through the development of each other. This iron sharpens iron mentality makes for an excellent learning environment that breeds growth. If you're travelling through Raleigh-Durham and need a place to train or if you're looking for a gym to join you are welcome here.
Lane Moore: The instruction is phenomenal, the gym is as clean as can be and there are plenty of class times to fit anyone’s schedule. All of the students are very helpful too. I can’t recommend this place enough!
Corey Kosmin: Had an awesome experience here. Jason was very welcoming and the instruction was incredible. On top of that, the other students were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
Nathan Purich: Genuine people and a welcoming atmosphere. Jason is a terrific teacher and the members were eager to help as I went in with zero experience. I sensed a true appreciation and understanding of the art, I highly recommend this gym if you are interested in BJJ!
Daniel Kemp: I've learned so much from Jason and the team! He is a remarkable person and diligent instructor. This is also one of the cleanest facilities I've ever been seen.
M L: I’m a new student. The instructors are great and help you along. Lots of one on one attention. The building is older but the actual facility is top shelf clean. New condition. The mats have a foam suspension system which makes falls really easy on the body. Especially for us older students.
James Purcell: I've trained with the Culbreth brothers for nearly 10 years. They have a true passion for teaching, continually learning and adapting new techniques for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and self-defense. One of the biggest things you'll find here is their emphasis on self-defense; not all schools have that. At Cary BJJ, you will find a superior blend of sport BJJ and self-defense. Other key elements to this gym are its cleanliness (something Jason is diligent about), the friendliness and positivity of the environment, and the belief of the instructors in a warrior mentality that should extend into your everyday life. There are a number of world class competitors (including the instructors) that train at this gym who are always willing to offer assistance in improving your ground game. There is a lack of the 'bro'/machismo mentality here. My observation has been that the instructors are great with kids (especially Mr. Chris!), including teaching them important values.

Team Casarez Jiu-Jitsu: what do users think?
Hamdy Salman: I have been taking my son to Team Casarez Jiu-Jitsu for almost 1 year now. At first I wasnt very sure about it, my son is 5 and is very energetic and hyperactive so I had my fears about him being able to adapt and focus enough to learn the basics of this sport. But as the time went by I changed my mind and stayed in this gym until leaving NC. Here are some of my notes and I hope they are helpful1- The staff as of the time of this post has been nothing short of outstanding. Fast response, able to understand customer needs and schedule, they even split the kids classes from two spots a week to 10 spots a week where you get to choose when to come, I tried to send my son every day.2- The coaches are well educated and highly trained, but most importantly patient and calm with kids. My son is very active and he does run and jump and makes noises, I was very surprised to see that they were able to grab his attention and he even learned a lot of things. Side note, I was even more impressed that the owner would dedicate time to teach young kids when he is a black belt and has better things to do.3- I would have loved to have the chance to do some workout while my son was in the gym but the space is limited to training, hopefully in the future you guys will expand and take that into consideration4- The trust that I had with this team allowed me to sometimes drop my son and go do something urgent for 5-10 mins without me worrying about him in the gym - this is obviously isnt recommended we are all supposed to watch our kids while they train and interact but I felt confident in them to do so.5- This is worth every penny you pay !!
Lauren English: Such a great place to learn martial arts im learning alot my teacher is great hes helping me work around my right hand issue because im underdeveloped and disabled but they help me be good at martial arts anyway and its great self defense and everyone is welcoming. Its a great physical activity im learning alot. Its great for kids too and its for everyone
2X Lsadf: All my 3 kids are there. Great instructors and helped improve my kids confidence and self difference. The teach enabled my son to win BJJ tournaments, so it's legit.
Rory Metzger: Awesome gym, super clean, really inviting, great instructors. I am new to BJJ and was really intimidated at first (I have heard most places just throw you into the fire) but Team Casarez totally changed my perspective and I’ve had a great experience going. When you first start they instruct you on the basics and teach a lot of useful techniques and then you get to move into rolling with other students. I’ve been going for about two months now and haven’t had a bad experience, everyone who goes is really friendly and is always willing to teach you new stuff and make you better. I have friends who attend other gyms and they tell me about the bad experiences they’ve had, and I haven’t run into any problems going here. I recommend Team Casarez to anyone who’s starting out and even for the more seasoned students. Awesome gym all around!
George Callahan: Casarez is a great place for beginners, everyone is very welcoming and the instructors are patient and eager to explain concepts. Look no further. Awesome instruction and curriculum.
Elijah Santiago: Had a awesome open mat night with Team Casarez!great good of guys, very friendly vibe, well rounded skilled group of people. Highly recommended
Kathryn Thomann: All the staff and members were extremely welcoming and encouraging, and I enjoyed building foundational BJJ skills. If you need a first dip into martial arts, this is the place for you!
Melissa Brown: Impressive! Large, open space, kept very clean. The owners are friendly and supportive. Also, great for kids! You should absolutely come check these guys out. Highly recommend.
Michael: I've been taking Jiujitsu classes here for just over two months. For me the most important thing is that its a good community. I work with my hands, so I can't afford to miss work for injury and so my #1 criteria was to find a gym where people are training safely, and I've found that here. Along with being safe everyone has been very friendly and open to help each other learn. The instruction is very efficient, trying to get in an entire class in ~one hour is challenging so they get right to the lesson, training, and application all fairly seamlessly with little downtime, which I appreciate.A side note since I looked at these reviews before joining, I was able to get an membership pause for a month I'm out of town without any issues.Overall, its a killer workout, great community, and quality instruction.
Brad Carrier: Super friendly place to visit for great instruction and sparring. Don’t hesitate to stop in!!
cody cowin: I’ve trained and competed across the US and Team Casarez is high level Jiujitsu. Tony and his coaches respect their students, protect their athletes, and teach with humility. Whether it’s your first time trying Brazilian Jiujitsu, or you’ve been on the path for awhile, you’ll be better all around by walking into Team Casarez Jiu-Jitsu and signing up to learn the art.
Matt Serra: Absolutely the best BJJ you'll find in the triangle regardless of your training intent -- whether your goals are competition, self-defense, or just to get in shape, Tony, Ferny, and everybody else here are more than willing to help you on your journey. It's rare to find an academy where the environment/culture is equally as friendly and welcoming as it is effective about the actual training involved, but Casarez BJJ does just that.
Jay B: Kids classes are outstanding; wish there were more days offered though. I tried several gyms in the area for my kids, and this one by far is the best overall experience. All of the coaches are on point. No need to compete, but if you do the coaches will be in your kids corner in tournaments.
Brett Epstein: Awesome gym.Searched for months before committing to a gym and it was definitely worth the wait. Great jiu jitsu and most importantly great people.
Kylecastain: The lead instructors Tony and Ferny are top notch. They are welcoming, open, and very easy to talk to. They are great to learn from, and have a very welcoming environment. The best choice I've made is joining their school .
Zp Rb: Top notch facility for learning jiu jitsu. I have been attending for about 1 month now, and my experience has been amazing. Having never trained a martial art in my life, I was worried about starting. Every member of the team has been extremely welcoming, with absolutely zero judgement. Everyone is willing to help, and excited to share their knowledge. Professor Tony and all of the coaches are gems of humans and run a fantastic facility. I highly recommend making this your gym.
Game of Pennies: The Coaches are knowledgeable martial artists, and have decent training parameters, but are very poor businessmen, and very poor customer service agents. Not only did they lie about the contract, but no matter how many times I tried to make peace, the primary coach was rude, actively combative, and made no attempts at understanding my family's situation. He lied about the costs (quoted different discount prices for the 3rd person on the contract), and also lied about how they handle account freezes.Do not join this gym if you expect any gaps in your training. You will continue to pay for the membership, whether you are available to train (whether the issue be sickness, injury, or travel).I have never seen a sensei or master that cared so little for the individual student as I have observed here.
Patrick Rovero: A great team. The students, coaches, and professors are welcoming, knowledgeable, and humble. If you want to compete, come to this school. You want to just learn a new life skill, come to this school. If you just want a new way to workout to supplement your current regimen, come to this school. If you feel like you have trouble fitting in, come give this a try. I've never seen a new student not be welcomed.
Tess miller: I have never seen such an unprofessional way to conduct a business. This is a "boys only club" who is led by a coach that knows no bounds. Which is good for the sport a d spirit. However, when other artworks are expressed; go to an MMA gym . This place is run like words I won't express. And the coach is a real piece of work. Tried calling to make amends and he was a piece of work on the phone. Even though he terminated (via yelling) he won't refund.Absolutely best for new comers.Worst a day done and dirty for anyone with experience.
Daniel Gamer: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI visited the gym while in North Carolina from New York. Tony and his brother were super welcoming. I had a great time training and got in some good rolls with good people. I look forward to training here again the next time I’m in North Carolina.
ryan homer: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueVery welcoming and family vibe here strongly recommend if you live in the area to try it out.

Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu Cary: what do users think?
Clara Schlieman: I love train here at Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu, it’s is fun!!!
Ayten Rahimova: IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR MONEY BE STOLEN, DON'T GO THERE! I asked the trainer to cancel our contract at the end of July, and at the end of October, they still continue charging us. I sent them emails, left messages, call them numerous time, but it was no response back. When I went there the third time to ask them cancel our contract, the answer was"WE can not cancel the contract when you want" and we didn't get any request to cancel contract. He was talking rude and disrespectfully. Although when we just started they said you can cancel your contract anytime you want and you just need to let us know about that.
Chad Apostolico: Beginner friendly atmosphere. I joined primarily to help get back into shape, but also was able to meet a lot of friendly people, learn a bit of self-defense, and have some fun!
Senoculus: I joined this gym after a single trial class. I’d long wanted to get into BJJ but the locations around here were a hike and I’ve got three small children. This place sprung up in my neck of the woods and upon taking that first class I became obsessed. The gym feels like a small family. Everyone has been awesome to train with and the instructors are great about guiding and correcting in an encouraging way. My experience has been good enough for me to be excited to sign my son and hopefully my daughter up for the kids classes soon!
Thomas McGinley: I’m likely one of the oldest in the region (at 72) to ever embark on a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) journey but feel so blessed to have the Royce Gracie school of Cary almost in my backyard.I practiced karate many decades ago in my youth and was somewhat proficient. After just 7 months I can see how superior BJJ is as a martial art. I believe it is tremendously valuable for both men and women of all ages but especially so for women and guys like me who can no longer compete strength-wise with younger men. What makes the Royce Gracie school such a perfect fit for me is its focus on self-defense. The classes are taught by dedicated practitioners who make the classes truly fun. The advanced students are helpful as well. It’s a dangerous world out there and for this reason alone everyone ought to be somewhat capable of defending themselves. BJJ is the key and the Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu School of Cary is the place. I could not recommend it more highly.
Hunter Clark: I cancelled my contract on Sep 4, and to this day these people are still charging me. I have emailed, called, and even shown up in person to cancel but am still having my money stolen. This is my last effort to deal with this, otherwise I will be taking these thieves to court. If you like having your money stolen, this is the perfect place for you.
Michael McCune: I recently joined the gym for CrossFit (Panther Creek CrossFit), and found out that they offer Jiu jitsu and practical self-defense training in the evenings after the CrossFit classes. The instruction is professional and the material is very practical. The small class size is perfect to receive a good amount of attention from the Instructor. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who is interested in self-defense and/or jiu jitsu. The world is consistently becoming more hostile and you never know if you could end up in bad situation. This is an invaluable skill to have!
Logan Knight: Love this place! been training there for about 3 years now, started doing crossfit and Muay Thai but once I started BJJ I switched my priorities lol. The instructors are fantastic and provide a great training environment. The people who train thee are always great at providing a positive training environment so you always feel comfortable coming in whether you're brand new or experienced.
Dmitriy 333: Can't recommend this academy enough, not only will you learn life long potentially life saving skills but David is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable instructors in the game. Training jiujitsu is also scientifically proven to raise oxytocin levels.
Lamonte Tyler (Ωψϕ): Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueOne of the most talented instructors I have ever met.
Scott Wheeler: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueRoyce Gracie Jiu Jitsu has a great group of instructors and members. Really welcoming environment and a great curriculum for all levels and ages. I highly recommend them.
Mawk Star (JD): Fantastic instruction.Knowledgeable instructors.Real-world applications (not just the physical aspect, but mental as well). You can NOT go wrong with RGJJ - Cary (or Raleigh, for that matter)
John Newell: Positive:Quality
Jonathan Gould: Positive:Professionalism,Quality
Rebecca Schlieman: David Hall is a fantastic instructor. He’s a black belt under the legendary Royce Gracie and his instruction is excellent. Jiu Jitsu is great for all ages and skill levels. I can’t recommend RGJJ of Cary enough!
Warren Engledove: Great staff and instruction!
Gibbons Wrestling: Simply the best! Great for beginners (white belts) or advanced. They really care about you getting better and enjoying it. Not a belt factory! Everyone is very friendly. Plus the caliber of instruction is some of the best in the nation!
Jason Williams: The gym has a very close-knit type atmosphere. I got personal instruction and the instructors were patient with me as I was a beginner at CrossFit and Muay Thai. If you are interested in CrossFit but not experienced this would be a great place for you to go, Alan (the primary CrossFit instructor) makes sure you focus on fundamentals in order to avoid getting hurt.
Mason Baldwin: by Mason01/11/2012If you want to learn brazilian jiu jitsu, get in the best shape of your life, or learn Muay Thai this is the place for you. Jason Culbreth demands excellence from his staff and they deliver. The fitness program is very intense and I highly recommend it when you are ready for more than the average gym workout. You will gain the best training in endurance through creative sport science techniques and have an unbelievable amount of fun while you do things you never thought were possible.Get down to Forged Fitness in Cary, NC and see what they can do for you.

G13 BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU HQ US: Martial Arts | Self-Defense | Strength Conditioning | Kids | NoGi: what do users think?
Daniel Therriault: This gym is amazing! We were only in Raleigh for 10 months and we learned so much under the teaching of Master Godoi and his team. From the start, we were welcomed into the G13 family. It is truly a family. People are friendly, respectful and encourage each other to constantly get better. Master Godoi often tells inspirational stories and he knows the names of each of his many students. There are students of all levels from beginner to very advanced and there are many classes available to accommodate everyone’s needs. The warmup exercises are really fun and there are many opportunities for rolling with good music in the background. The gym is bright and always very clean. Fabiana at the front desk is very helpful and resourceful. She was always available to answer all of our questions. We love this gym. We learned so much in our short time there and we were sad that we had to leave.
Antonio P: Godoi and his family have just received me as an instantly family member!I've been out of tatami for many, many years and felt just home training with them.Detailed information is passed every time with very care which makes the sessions fantastic!G13 is the perfect school if you want a top notch jiu-jitsu with a fantastic team!!!
Sierra Collom: Visited a class here today as a guest from Oregon and I was incredibly impressed! Roberto was very friendly and welcoming, as were all of his students. The class was fundamentals and was very well run and I learned a ton in the hour. Rolled with multiple belt levels and they were all top notch! All of the students raved about Roberto and his gym and I can see why. Super super aweseome experience and if I lived here I would be training at G13 for certain. Thank you Roberto and thank you to all the folks I met!
Michael Whitley: I'm been training for a little over a month now and love it. It is humbling but so satisfying every morning after class. The instructors are fantastic and create a welcoming environment for people regardless of their BJJ skill level.
Tony Grant: Visited the facility yesterday from out of town, Professor Godoi was on site and taught the class. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place to a friend or family member in the area. Students and staff were very friendly!
Blanca Patrick: Great gym, great people! Enrolling my 3 and 5 yo kids is one of the best decisions I have made! The kids enjoy the challenge and become more confident, disciplined, and strong with each class. The coaches are phenomenal, the gym is comfortable and clean, and it’s a wonderful community. We have made some good friends. Thank you, Master Godoi and team!
Brett Garrison: My 5 year old son started at G13 a year ago this month! Everything about this school is top tier! Coach Matt, Coach Moe, Coach Antonio and Professor Godoi have been amazing mentors to my son and his personal growth since starting has been exceptional! We truly feel like family here. Kids classes are fun, motivating, and each coach takes the time to individually teach technique! Best Gym in the Triangle area! HIGHLY recommend!
Ethan Caldwell: My son and daughter have been training here for around 7 months - amazing experience at every step. The people are awesome, great at working with kids and I know they are learning a lot. Couldn’t recommend any higher!
Kelly Peirson: Initially joined out of peer pressure from our neighbors and ended up being the best decision for our whining, only child. The kids class and Coach Matthew has been amazing for reinforcing self-discipline and mindfulness. This has also been a great community full of team building activities for our kid and great source of physical activity for this gamer. The kids class has been a fun alternative to video gaming for a group of boys in our neighborhood-so glad their trying new experiences and doing some self care too! The Godoi family is amazing and Professor Godoi is a top-knotch competitor in the world. Love that the kids are able to have this learning experience from such a Jujitsu expert from Brazil 🇧🇷 right here in Cary! You won't be disappointed!
Marcelo Galvao: Roberto Godoi is an icon of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I'm very happy to have him as my master. In the 30 years that I've been doing jiu-jitsu, I've met several masters who are also renowned, but none as great as master Roberto Godoi. I’m Brazilian, 5th Black Belt in BJJ, and I have lived here, in the US, for more than seven years and I’ve never found an academy that had the level of teaching and commitment of G13. I’m so happy to know that G13 has come to America, and master Roberto Godoi is here disseminating his knowledge, building great fighters and above all great human beings. Today I live in Florida but whenever I can, I try to go to North Carolina to learn a little more of the gentle art with my great friend and Master Roberto Godoi.
Daniel Pinheiro: The Best in Business, I’m highly recommend it if you are in town.Osss
Anthony Rodriguez: Professor Roberto Godoi is a master class in teaching and providing his students with challenges and guiding them towards success. I am very fortunate to be his student and everyone within this gym are really great people. I highly recommend this gym to anyone that wants to do Jiu Jitsu. You will not be disappointed and Professor Godoi will help you become a better person.
Carlos Sibello: Excellent training, great team mates and a very welcoming atmosphere. Makes G13, in my opinion, the best BJJ Academy in the area.
Huntley Hughes: If you live in the triangle area this is 100% the best choice you could make to improve your grappling AND find a community - give it a try and find out!
Igor Luiz de Sousa Santos: Great Team! Awsome class.
Fábio Santana: There is a great place to learn and practice Jiu Jitsu. Friendly teammates, skilled instructors, and time flexibility make that place the best one for me!
flavio souza: Great jiu-jitsu school where champions are formed from beginning to advanced
Jonah Pollone: When I moved to Raleigh to be closer to downtown, I had to find a new Jiu Jitsu school because the commute to my old school was too long. I was quite nervous, as choosing a school is such a personal decision. G13 was the obvious choice for me after visiting three other schools throughout the Triangle area and receiving recommendations from previous training partners and coaches. For context- I’m a white belt and have been training since March of 2021. I practice jiu jitsu mostly with the Gi on and choose to focus on Godoi’s fundamental class in the evenings, although I’ve tried out the morning classes and No Gi classes and loved them both. When I set out on my search, I was looking for 3 main things out of a school: high quality instruction, great community, and class times that worked with my busy work schedule. This school offers all three, and so much more…High quality instruction: The school’s founder, Professor Roberto Godoi, is a legend. He received his black belt in 1996 and has an insane amount of knowledge. If you ask for help on a technique, he’ll ask you to demonstrate the technique you are working on, and he’ll know exactly what’s wrong and give you advice on what to do instead. He has a great mind for jiu jitsu and is a helpful teacher.Rather than teaching random techniques that have seemingly no connection to one another, the school offers lessons that repeat and follow a structure. Professor Godoi typically teaches a flow of techniques on Monday, expanding upon it throughout the week, and reviewing it on Saturday. This makes the material much more digestible and helps me learn.Great community: I’ve been to this school for 10 months and have been welcomed in with open arms. G13 truly is a family environment. We have cookouts and gatherings at the school and students’ houses. Every year the school hosts a belt ceremony here and also a camp in Brazil that you can attend which lasts a week.Good class times: I often work long hours and might miss a day during the week due to last-minute travel for closings and investor meetings. G13 offers classes after my work schedule in the evenings and early in the morning for folks who can get up for 6AM class. 😃At the time of writing this review, there are four main instructors at the school: Roberto Godoi (Gi Fundamental and Advanced), John Telford (Gi Fundamental), Sean Zorio (Gi Fundamental), and Cheyne Kulessa (No Gi). They teach at different times and have a schedule on the website. We use the G13 app to manage check-ins, which helps the professors understand who is ready for a belt/stripe promotion. At the end of every class we roll with 5 minute rounds. This is a great time to practice the moves of the day or anything you’re working on. All of the upper belts I’ve rolled with tend to match your intensity level and care for your safety. This school focuses on sport jiu jitsu (as opposed to self defense curriculum, although many of what you learn here will also apply in real life). Godoi encourages you to compete (and will support you greatly), but by no means forces it on to anyone. There are many at the school who only train at G13 and don’t care about competing, and they’re treated the same as everyone else. The school also has a GREAT program for women. There’s a lot of them and they’re very supportive of one another. Clean mats and facility. The worst thing about this place is the more you go, the more you’ll want to go!
Brandon Corrales: G13 BJJ provides an ironclad jiu jitsu curriculum for athletes, hobbyists and kids alike. If you seek tried and true applications of this martial art in your game, this school is for you. Truly the best martial arts school the Triangle has to offer, no question.
Cliff Pyles: My 9 year old son and 6 year old daughter both takes classes here and both love it! The instructors are motivated and very involved with the children. The instructors make sure the kids are learning, staying engaged, and having fun. Both of my kids have grown in their self confidence and self discipline while training here. I would highly recommend giving it a try!
Dan: Great friendly family atmosphere. Kids class was engaging and fun with games and teaching one on one. G13 is the next-level school.

Jiu Jitsu Performance Academy: what do users think?
Erik Hazzard: Jiu Jitsu Performance Academy is a truly exceptional place for learning and growth. As a beginner, I was initially overwhelmed, but the welcoming environment and the instructors' genuine passion quickly eased my nerves. The moment you step through the door, you're made to feel like a part of the community. The staff and fellow students are friendly, respectful, and supportive, which creates a positive atmosphere conducive to learning. The instruction is top-notch. Coaches break down complex techniques into manageable pieces, paying close attention to form and safety. They make sure each student, regardless of skill level, feels comfortable and confident. My son, who also recently started, is equally thrilled with his experience and has become borderline obsessed with it even at his young age. The children are encouraged to support each other, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among them. The environment is nurturing, but also challenges the kids to step out of their comfort zones, promoting growth and self-confidence. The instructors are beyond amazing in guiding and coaching all the kids. I could not recommend it more highly!
DrSebiApproved: Awesome gym awesome place to train/ they train early and have an awesome schedule . Coach Spangler is the man he is very knowledge and respectful teaches some awesome techniques . If your in the area you have got to check this place out would give it ten stars if I could
suzanne higgs: Sean and his team of coaches are amazing. They are passionate about this sport and are attentive to each child's development. Every time we enter the academy, we are welcomed into a positive and friendly environment.
Melissa Bell: Awesome coaching staff, they are great with all ages.
Kelly Rowell: My son has really enjoyed learning jiu-jitsu jitsu and making friends at Spangler. Coach Sean is great and very patience with the kids. Five star experience so far! Member for 3mo.
Svit Lana: I am very picky person and if I am giving a positive review than believe me this is very good place )))My 6 year old is waiting those classes every day.Thank you Coach Sean for atmosphere and knowledge you put in your studio.
Coy Nelson: Sean and all other coaches make you feel like family from the day they you walk in.
Shane Smith: Awesome place. Everyone is super friendly, and the coaches have decades of experience.
robert bridge: Great place to learn with a relaxed atmosphere.
Wesley Rhan: Me and my son go here. We both love the atmosphere, instructors and challenge. There are no egos or trash talking at this academy. It is very clean, organized and has a culture of respect for the students, the instructors and the sport.I enrolled my son in BJJ after a failed attempt at Tae Kwon Do. He enjoys the grappling and "going live" rolling that the kids get to do. BJJ is a good fit for him to get energy out, learn discipline from other adults and to take control of his body and mind when he is in stressful situations. Professor Spangler and all the other instructors are in-tune with the kids and know how to get the best out of them. I enrolled my son when he was 5 (7 now) and it has been one of the best investments we could have made.I joined about a year after my son started. I loved seeing him roll and seeing how much he was learning. Instead of just watching him through the window I decided to get on the mats myself. I enjoyed the challenge right off the bat. I also realized how much I can still learn about myself.
René Pretorius: Great coach and great people
Sujan Abraham: My 6 year old son and I joined Jiu Jitsu Performance Academy recently and we love it so far. The attention from the coaches and other students is amazing. Everyone is very helpful and we both plan to continue going there as much as possible and keep learning
Jason Rabayda: Came here from out of town for an open mat. The quality of participant was high, as was facility. I learned a lot in my one day and plan on coming back next time I visit.
David Owens: I’ve been a student here for a little over a year. During that time I’ve witnessed that Sean is highly attentive to his customers ever changing needs, and operates his business with the upmost professionalism. When I come to class I know that I can expect to learn good BJJ, train in a clean and safe environment, and see smiling, friendly faces.10/10 recommend.
Man of Valor: Professor Spangler came to our school and did a seminar on technique. He was very patient & connected with everyone. What a great evening we had! I’ve not visited his school yet, but recommend him and his disposition dealing with teaching. I had to get on here and share about it.
BooCubbs: My two kids love it and have been doing bjj for almost 6 months. That's never happened with any extra curricular activity!!!
Monica Orellana: Dedicated crew, showing children the values of respect, confidence, and discipline!
Angelina Franklin: Anytime you are the new student at a gym or in a class it's always a little daunting, especially as an OTA adult student. Professor Spangler and all of the other coaches did an awesome job of making me feel welcome, and informed. They carved out time to provide individual attention along the way to catch me up to students with more experience and knowledge. Everybody is super helpful and willing to get questions answered or show you how to do something. I would highly recommend them to anyone who would like to learn BJJ/grappling.
Patrick Dmytriw: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Value
Casandra Bennett: My daughter joined the level 1 kids class and since the first day she has been treated with nothing but kindness and respect. The class instructors are all so patient and helpful in every aspect. They make the children feel like they are capable of anything and teach them step by step when they need the extra help. Sean and all of his other instructors have been nothing but welcoming to my entire family. I cannot recommend this jiu jitsu academy enough!
Lucas Laszacs: I was recommended to begin training Jiu Jitsu with Spangler by a friend and couldn't have asked for a better coach. After just shy of a year training, I've gone from being beaten like a child in white belt divisions to heel hooking, guillotining, armbaring, and strangling my way to victory in multiple intermediate no-gi matches. On top of the great instruction, there is great comraderie amongst all the students, and Spangler actively listens too the students needs and actively moves class times to best fit our schedules.I'll d'arce choke anyone who says Spangler isn't the best in the area.

U.S. Black Belt Academy-Cary: what do users think?
Lala Rabari: Both our kids enjoy going to their takwondo class. Very friendly environment.
Aimee Atkinson: Our son started when he was only 3. He is almost 5 now. Since he started, his focus has improved and he cannot wait to go class! The Masters are VERY good with the children and get down on their level to train them. All of the children enjoy their time there and really listen to the Masters. There is a very fair challenge and reward system that the children accept. I highly recommend your child to join! We can't wait for our 2 year old to turn 3 so he can start!
Deborah Holfelder: My 10 and 11 yr old girls attended a summer camp session at US Black Belt Academy in Cary. It was a wonderful experience and one of the better camps in an area that has many great camps. They had field trips almost every day: pool, Museum of Science, Movies, park, and on the last day they had a sushi and pizza party where they made homemade sushi and brought it home (It was fantastic!). The instructors did a great job managing the children to give them all a very positive experience. Each day they got lots of excercise and had a Taekwondo lesson, which they thought was both challenging and fun. "Master Lee and Master Park and Master Eileen explained the moves very well and they showed you multiple times and then they did it with you. They are all really great teachers!" - my 11 daughter said to me. We are definitely considering signing up for their program in the fall and would recommend US Black Belt Academy to anyone considering martial arts for their child.
