We set up our students with live gig nights at local venues in Charlotte so they can get real performance experience in front of a live crowd! Often times, our talented instructors will join them too. No more stuffy recitals, this is the real deal.

Our Studio Recording and Songwriting Camps are a budding musician's dream come true! Spend a week in a premier recording studio with a small group of similarly aged campers learning all about recording, production, engineering and songwriting. At the end of the week, you'll have a professionally recorded original song to take home and perform!

Do you provide my instrument or do I have to buy one?

You must have your own instrument before your music lessons in Charlotte can begin. For voice instruction, this includes having a 44-key keyboard. If you need help purchasing an instrument, please let us know - we can help.

We do not offer trial lessons. We work hard to hire the best instructors and do our best to match your needs and availability with the ideal instructor. We are a subscription service and have a 60-day minimum enrollment period (eight lessons). It generally takes a 3-6 month commitment to make real progress on a new instrument.

How many times can I reschedule lessons, and can I skip a lesson?

As long as you give your instructor 24 hours notice, you can reschedule your music lessons in Charlotte as often as necessary. All student-canceled lessons are made up on our virtual platform. Regarding skipping lessons, being part of our subscription-based service means that you have reserved personalized time on your instructor's schedule. We purposefully offer a very generous rescheduling and makeup policy to give you and your instructor every opportunity to get the most from your lessons. For this reason, we do not allow for skipped sessions.

If your instructor cancels a lesson, they will make every effort to reschedule the lesson with you. If a rescheduled date is agreed upon, it will be done in-home if lessons are taught in-home. If a makeup date cannot be found, you will be credited for the canceled lesson on your next bill.

Holly. Students can learn how to play instruments with skill and confidence - we offer everything from drums, guitar, keyboard, and vocals in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students can develop their skills in popular local genres such as rock 'n' roll, heavy metal, grunge, alternative, rap, R&B, pop, country, punk, and Americana.


Rock 101 is one of School of Rock Charlotte's top programs for kids and beginners. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn to play classic rock songs that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, Rock 101 students in Charlotte have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who helps them learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.


Our music programs for kids in Charlotte are designed to get students on stage performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency. Younger students at School of Rock Charlotte who have participated in the Rookies program can move to our Rock 101 music program once they’re ready. Additionally, students (typically ages 8 to 13-years-old) can begin Rock 101 without any prior experience. The goal of this rock program is to quickly develop a basic competence on students’ chosen instruments before moving on to our famous Performance Program.

Every instructor at School of Rock Charlotte is an experienced musician, and they emphasize foundational music theory and technique when teaching guitar lessons to kids. Unlike other Charlotte guitar lessons and programs, School of Rock is designed to get students performing in a band.


It’s never too late to learn to play the guitar. Similar to our kids guitar lessons, School of Rock Charlotte's beginner guitar lessons for adults utilizes a performance-based curriculum. Our experienced instructors teach adult students through popular rock songs, and teach students to play guitar in a way that’s challenging and fun. We believe the best way to learn is by doing, which is why we combine weekly private guitar lessons with group band rehearsals. At School of Rock Charlotte, we teach beginner guitar lessons for adults in our Adult Program. This program gets students performing onstage at a local Charlotte venue.


As students gain skills and experience, we move them along to more challenging programs at higher skill levels. Intermediate and advanced students take the skills they learned in beginner guitar lessons, and layer on more difficult techniques and concepts. School of Rock Charlotte offers advanced guitar lessons for kids and adults that teach by playing challenging classic rock songs and emphasize playing the guitar in a real music venue. Our Charlotte guitar teachers will work with each student to develop a custom learning plan.

Dréa, photographer, mother of two School of Rock students and a rocker herself, became the school's GM in October of 2017. Possessing a BA in Theatre, and having a long history of teaching children of all ages in the creative arts world, she brings an exciting energy to the scope of performance that is offered. Dréa has worked locally with Children's Theatre of Charlotte, The Possibility Project and Playing for Others. Mentoring teens and fostering a sense of confidence and growth in who they are becoming is a mission close to her heart. Creating a welcoming environment that brings the best out of kids, inspiring them to expand their comfort zone of what is possible is her daily goal. When not serving the school or taking care of her family, she can be found holding a camera or a microphone, singing her lungs out.

Not only are our lesson rooms equipped for all lessons, our waiting room is great for parents and other family members waiting for lessons. Take advantage of our free Wi-Fi. And if you prefer, we have an open door policy for our lessons, you are always available to sit in on the lessons or watch through each rooms large window.

We offer our students the opportunity to participate in national piano federation festival competitions throughout the year. These are optional, but many of our students like to participate.

We hold recitals twice a year and our students love performing. We also have smaller community events that our students can participate in (invitation only). The recitals are optional for all students, but most students choose to perform. We keep our recitals festive and fun!

Our school is convenient and draws students from Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Weddington, Marvin, Pineville, Indian Land and the surrounding areas. We are easy to find on Ardrey Kell Rd, with shopping and restaurants close by (Blakeney, Rea Farms, Waverly)

We offer lessons 12 months a year. No need re-enroll each semester or year.

Our desire is to inspire our students with the love of music. We do this through teachers and music that our students love. Unlike other programs, we do not require semester minimums for lessons. You can begin anytime! To stop lessons, we just need a 14 day notice.

I earned a BA in Music Education and have been teaching drums/percussion and performing full time for over 25 years. In 2007, I moved to Charlotte with my family and developed a strong weekly student lesson foundation and an exemplary reputation as an instructor and performer.

In 2017, my teaching schedule was at maximum. I decided to expand the size of my teaching studio from 1 to 3 teaching rooms and even added a waiting room. I am now able to include piano, acoustic/electric & bass guitar, singing lessons, ukulele, violin & mandolin. We also have specific lessons geared towards the singer/songwriter style students. We will help you achieve your goals

Since I’m very involved in the local music scene, I knew many accomplished performers who were also outstanding instructors. I wanted to have top-notch teachers and performers instruct at my studio. Our instructors are all trained/schooled professionals, rather than self-taught, with experience in teaching and performing. I am grateful to have them!

We like to focus on theory, teaching and reading music, proper technique, good dedicated practice along with the necessary fundamentals. You will leave your lessons with much more knowledge than what you came in with. You will have new material to work on to prepare you for your next lesson. We want you to have fun as you keep growing as a musician.
