Midwood Guitar Studio: what do users think?
R M: Amazing guitar shop, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I worked mostly with Douglas the owner, and he goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your purchase. I highly recommend doing business with this shop.
craig friday: Great People selling Great Guitars, Amps and Pedals that you can’t find in the Big Box Stores!! I Keep going back to find more gear!! Occasionally they have Artists come in and do Clinics and small Shows!!!
Chad Waldrup: Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a great place to find boutique guitar gear in Charlotte, NC.
Joseph Wang: I got my guitar set up and repaired by the in-house Luthier, Philip, and the service was top notch and he was extremely friendly and professional. Answered all my dumb questions without judging me and I'm definitely going to be coming back here. If you're a guitar player, you must checkout Midwood Guitar Studio!
travis niles: Wonderful store. Very accommodating staff and helpful. Make sure to get what you want because inventory moves fast here and someone else will be looking at that sweet guitar or pedal you have your eyes on as well!!!
Justin Thompson: Had to get some guitar repair work done here and had Phillip take care of me. They’re all really nice guys and have been cool every time I’ve gone in the shop. Guitar was in great shape after the repairs. Nothing but good things to say about this place
Ian Frisinger: I just came in for advice on cleaning my bass and the guys there were chill and really respectful. Much preferred to Guitar Center.
Stephen Turner: I stopped by Midwood Guitar Studio today and had an awesome experience. Great selection of acoustic and electric guitars. I was given plenty of space to enjoy any guitar I chose to play. I highly recommend this shop
Jo Solo: Amazing service and selection. You truly get what you pay for
Bob: A Charlotte treasure- amazing curated selection of top notch guitars, amps and pedals with a wide price range- something for everyone with a focus on the best quality and hard to find gear. Store layout is gorgeous as well. Definitely a must go.
karjv Javh: Great staff!
Jason Brady: Good first experience with these guys. I got a new PRS modern eagle v from another dealer and the intonation wasn’t quite right. I had tried to adjust it myself but it wasn’t fixing it. So I took it in. The luthier (Phillip Archibald I think) quickly figured out why intonation was off: it had a non standard set of strings, and the tremolo bridge wasn’t correctly angled. (I would not have known that those things made any difference.) He fixed up the intonation for that particular set of strings and I was on my way. I will be coming back with this guitar and others.
Michael Foster: This is a great store. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Phillip setup my Strat, and it looks better than the day I bought it. I'll be back for future repairs and purchases.
Tyler Holloman: Best guitar shop in the area! A complete vibe from the cool atmosphere to the friendly employees and incredible selection. Phillip has set up two of my guitars, an electric and an acoustic, and both are playing better than they ever have since I’ve owned them. Skip the trip to Guitar Center and visit MGS to experience the truth!
Ian N.: coolest guitar shop I’ve ever been to, with welcoming and helpful staff. would recommend.
Mike Wentzel: Thank you Philip for the great setup on my telecaster!
Robert Ward: I have a new go-to for my guitar needs. I love the shop and all of the quality stuff in it! The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and attentive... you can tell that they are passionate about guitars. I worked with Sage and Phil on the installation of a new set of Bare Knuckle pickups in my PRS. Phil treats each guitar as if it were his own. He advised on updated wiring and a few other components to make it outstanding. My love for this guitar has been rekindled and I'll be bringing another one in for the same treatment!
Michael Barefoot: Midwood is my favorite boutique guitar shop in all of NC. The entire team is extremely knowledgeable, and they consistently go above and beyond to support your purchases with them. Top tier customer service and even better guitars - what's not to love?
Matt Miller: Guitar came back set up a little lower than I prefer. The shop and the people seem really nice.
Raphael Alvarez: The shop is fantastic, beautiful, and impressive in its design. The atmosphere is warm and inviting; I regret not visiting before! Douglas and Alex are very friendly, knowledgeable, and more than happy to answer any questions I had.Their luthier, Philip, is super helpful. He was attentive, informative, and very pleasant to speak with regarding my guitar’s setup (which was my reason for the visit). In fact, he appeared excited to work on my guitar and assured me it was in good hands. Although it took just shy of two weeks to get done, I understand why as Philip is one busy dude handling all the guitars in the shop plus the walk-ins, but the care and time he put in to his work is worth the wait. My guitar has never felt and played better! I am definitely going to be back soon.
Charlie Boggus: Had my guitar set up by Phil recently, and he did a beautiful job with everything. Turnaround was super reasonable and the work itself was incredible. Will definitely be returning to him for any guitar work I need done in the future. 5 star work and service.

L A Guitar Factory aka Tela Guitar: what do users think?
Thomas Anthony: 3 words...Best. Luthier. Ever! Ari is insanely good at what he does. His attention to detail is unmatched. I have taken guitars to various techs in various cities and states and I can honestly say that working with Ari has been the best experience out of them all. He is very clear and direct on turnaround times and he even does custom builds! You won't regret your decision to take your guitars here
JENXVA: Great experience!! Definitely worth checking out! Can't beat the pricing!
James P: Arie is very talented and knowledgeable. I will bring all of my guitar needs to L A Guitar Factory. I am in the process of building my own custom guitar with Arie and love the experience. If you get the itch to build your own guitar, this is the place to get the job done. You can see the finished guitar on the L A Guitar Factory website.
Michael Cooper: Not incredibly sociable, but expert service for very reasonable price, only takes cash no card reader on site
Ron Brendle: Ari is a fantastic luthier; knowledgeable, precise, efficient, and fair.
Chris Browning: Ari is the best in the business around Charlotte, NC and a great teacher also. Highly recommend his work.
Bobbi Ulrich: They have a lot of different products, lots of great guitars and accessories. The only thing I didn't like is that there guitar tech has been laid off from work ever since this covid-19 stuff has happened.
Mike maul: Great place to take your guitar if you have issues. He fixed my issues guitar center could not.
Jared: Called to get a price on some repairs explained what I need I was told that I need to bring in cause I sounded like I didn't know what I was talking about lol hilarious I'll take my business elsewhere
philip lyew: Ari was very rude and unprofessional in our interaction. I would not do business with in the future.
Mark Myrick: Ari is a great guy and very skilled. He always does a great job. One of my favorite playing Les Pauls had an un repairable broken head stock. I thought it was going to the grave, but Ari had the idea to try and save it. He came up with a "Steinbergeresque" approach, and it plays great! Really better than ever. It is now my "zombie" guitar because it has come back from the dead! You are in good hands with Ari!
Steven Bear: Great place to do business
Julian Miguel: Ari is the best! Great guy that really came through with several builts I brought to his shop. I love his work and respect his expertise, lucky to have him in the neighbourhood.
John Taite: Cool out of the way spot. Ari is the real deal. Would bring any acoustic there for honest evaluation and expert services.
ak arrowood: Always helpful.1st class work.
dave bullard: If you want an incredible, totally custom guitar or want to learn to build them, this is the place.
Cameron Ludwig: Took my Kramer Barretta in to have a Floyd mounted instead of the stock tremelo. I could not have been happier when I got the guitar back; the attention to detail was spectacular. The routs were beautifully done and almost invisible to the naked eye beyond a couple inches away. The shemming of the saddles, neck, and locking nut were beautifully done and are virtually unnoticeable. The setup was exactly to spec of what we dicusssed prior to the work being done. Ari is a top notch luthier with an uncanny attention to detail. 5/5 would absolutely bring any guitar in the future to him.
Burk Chuter: Will not use anyone else's service when it comes to my guitar collection. Superb workmanship.
Review King: Ari is a top notch luthier. Very meticulous in his work and possess a keen knowledge of his art.
D Snow: Had Ari setup two guitars that needed extensive fret work and adjustments . I had each setup a bit different as I wanted to try something a new with hybrid strings. He explained everything that he did to my guitars in detail . I was very happy with results.

Music and Arts: what do users think?
Jennifer ESQUIVEL: This is located in the Park Road shopping center and has been here for a very LONG time. This is one of the shopping centers' OG stores. I recently started bringing my son and enrolled him in their guitar lessons that they offer. They initially offered a free guitar plus free lesson, which obviously led to us paying for some guitar lessons. My son loves it and he likes his teacher named Ben. The staff is always very welcoming and wonderful. There are plenty of instruments located inside the store and even pianos you can play on. They offer a variety of music books as well as different accessories you may need for your instrument. The classes are located downstairs where there is a little waiting room if you'd like to wait downstairs and a TV where you can see the lesson going on. It's a nice quaint small shop and is located in a shopping center. They have a big open parking lot with plenty of parking options for you. Definitely recommend this place and will keep coming for lessons.
Cameron Hamilton: Great customer service. Thank you for everything!
master wong: Good
Carson Dahlberg: Chad (drums) and Zack (guitar)!are aces! 😎 Highly recommend
Kevin Clemmons: Small store, friendly staff!
Ricardo Castro: Great advice on music rentals.
Anna Cheney: Positive:CommunicationI came in today looking for an amp for my concert ukulele. Ryan was so nice and helpful when I had a question about which one to get. I will definitely continue shopping there.
Edmund Plake: After nothing but a series of frustrating experiences with a large music chain, I seriously needed a place to go where I felt respected and valued as a customer. This was the place! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by Ryan and Lizzie who immediately offered their expertise and guidance. Much to my delight, I discovered they also offered lessons, and after today, I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for a teacher.I was also able to observe Ryan interact with a young customer whose father was buying her an ukulele. He tuned the instrument—by ear—and handed it to her to play. He was positive and attentive, and Father and Daughter left the store smiling. The [Large Music Chain] is minutes from my house, and even if this lovely little store were in Raleigh—I’d make the drive. To Lizzie and Ryan, thank you for a wonderful musical shopping experience.
Jeremy Hackworth: Positive:Professionalism,QualityGreat place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I’ve bought a guitar amp here and recently had some work done on my guitar. I unsuccessfully attempted to install active pickups on my guitar at home and brought it here to get it fixed. The guitar plays and sounds great after Ivan corrected my errors and did a set up for my guitar.
Michael J Kelly: Awesome, very friendly, knowledgeable. Was able to order what ever I needed. Highly recommend them
Stamp Collector: Critical:Professionalism,QualityI took a horn here for a tune up and it came back with new problems. Stuck rotors, valve screws loose. Never had these problems before.
Jennie Blackmon: I talked with Ivan about an electric bass that I know nothing about. He was extremely patient and kind, gave me all kinds of helpful information. They have lots of services that are very reasonably priced.
Ek Buggy: I got a clarinet there and they were so nice!! They helped me and my father get the right stuff for the clarinet. It was just amazing
Rick Gray: Great little shop in Sharon (renovating forever) Corners. Drop by and pick up a set of strings or something. I was so happy with the work performed on two of my guitars I brought three more for fine tuning. Yes, I have a problem :- ). Howren is full service and in business for years, so I would encourage everyone to support this local business. I had set-ups and string changes on my little collection and they are playing like new.
Ashley Kibbe: Very friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend. Shop local!!❤️
Jeremy Watssman: Stopped in to have Lee make adjustments to a new acoustic guitar I'd bought. SUPER friendly staff and incredibly helpful - he made some adjustments on the spot and since it was minor stuff didn't charge me for it. He could've easily convinced me to pay for all sorts of work it didn't need but instead he was honest and gave me some advice on how to care for it. Will definitely be coming back for any work I need done in the future!
D&L Barmore: I am from out of town and was treated like a life long customer. Shout out to the store manager Lee for being super helpful and coming through clutch in a pinch situation before my sisters wedding.
Radarius Wilson: This is a neat little place in the park Rd shopping center with lots of guitars and trumpets and drums. Good selection with comparable prices. The store was very neat and cozy.
Conner Kelly: Great salespeople. I went in to try trombones and they let me play every one they had! I tried their Kias and their Ferraris and they gave me a lovely experience. Definitely recommended.
John Lyon: About September of 1963 I was a kid with birthday money in my pocket sporting a desire to upgrade my Uke playing to being a guitarist! My father and I went to Howren Music where a nice fellow with a bow tie convinced my pop to match my birthday money so as to invest in a really descent guitar worthy of my musical inclinations. 55 years out the benefits of those early lessons still bring me joy every day.Kids walking in to Howren Music can still find a frendly advocate for the benficial rewards of musical inclinations given the right support to this day.
Joel Martin: Great little shop. Brought my Les Paul in for a broken tuner key and Lee hooked me up while I was standing there. Great price and service. thanks again Lee

Guitar Center: what do users think?
CarolJoy Songwriter: Great store ! Especially Zoe made our new instruments selection a very pleasant experience ! Keep it up ! Carol Joy and the JOI Neuron band
Аnastasiia Khmelovska: They don’t accept returns or exchanges. Will not buy anything else here.
Davis Duncan: Stood in the drum department for 30 minutes unnoticed and ignored. Store was empty except for the 8-10 employees that had better things to do ( as in talk to each other). $700 in my pocket ready to buy some stands and bags. I guess the story about the craft beer they had last night was more important than making a sale.? No wonder GC is struggling. Fire the burger flippers and hire some salesmen!
Daniel Shanley: PHENOMENAL Repair Service!I had 2 electric basses repaired over the past month. They are busy, but for a good reason. Did an excellent job bringing my first/main bass to mint condition.I have a 2nd hand Fender Squier Jazz Bass that has had a rough go. My expectations were what I thought were realistic. I didn't expect much at all, but I was floored by how pristine it sounded when I brought it home. I absolutely love this instrument now. Fantastic place for music gear, lessons and gold-standard repair service.
Jennifer Kemper: Good store but don't buy from Courtney. He lies to sell extended warranties and tells his employees to do the same.
Cody Cagle: I went in to sell a guitar and amp, the guy that helped me, looked up the wrong guitar in the system and offered me 60 dollars for a guitar that sells used on their website for 360 dollars. He knew nothing about the guitar models and also said that the pickups didn't affect the pricing of a guitar. It would just make sense to have people that have experience in the instruments they deal with everyday. I've been going for years and I'll never go back. All around unprofessional and should definitely be trained in customer services.
Chris Dias: Went in to look at electric kits. Two low end Simmons kits set up, all the good stuff was in boxes with no displays. What’s the point of having a store if I can’t even see a $2,500 item before purchasing it? Asked an associate if I could see it; nope.
Jack Werner: Thanks Johnny!!!
Clint Norwood: I took a brand new pedal to sell as used. It was needed when I ordered it but due to delays manufacturing it came later and my needs changed so I decided to sell it. The guy at the front desk looked at it like it was an alien device then I guess the manager popped up looked at it and said we are going to pass. He didn't even look to see what it was, what it goes for or anything. The people that work there should have a grasp on what they are looking at OR call someone who does. They may have felt like it was stolen(which i have the receipt to refute) but then again they didn't ask any questions. I mean how do you just look at a pedal and say nah without knowing what it is? Drove across town and sold it at the other location for the price I was asking for
Mark Rosekrans: Great people
Ni Zi: Absolutely garbage customer service. Super lazy and passive aggressive staff. I had questions about an instrument, I wanted to walk over to it and ask specific questions about it's feature's, they wouldn't leave the counter to go look at the instrument with me (way more staff than customer's in the store) they were not busy, When I did ask questions they dismissed me with worthless and completely unhelpful responses not at all relevant to the question. I tried to clarify, they intentionally misconstrued my question and they began answering a non relevant question again... basically just trying to make me go away. Essentially responding "yeah, we don't know, we have no idea" before acknowledging the question asked. I will not be back. In addition I purchased lessons about a year ago online, the staff never issued a refund and said they didn't have enough staff to do the lesson.
Tom Swift: Always have what I need.
Camille K: An awesome sales guy sold me a bass for my daughter, then also helped me get it to my car with the Amp. Thank you!! Will be a happy holiday in my house.Lots of guitars, knowledgeable staff, and they let try out the guitars. They encourage beginners and answer questions patiently. They are enthusiastic about what they are selling. So much better than buying in the internet.
Chris Elder: Helpful staff and good selection of instruments. Prices are high though. They have high quality products but don't seem to offer competitively priced low end items. I am beginning guitar. I realized I am naturally left-handed. They had 1 lefthanded guitar (out of what looks to be several hundred) and it was $850. I bought one only for $250. Same situation with accessories. Basic carry case online for $30. Nothing in the store even close. Straps...small beginner amp...instrument cables. All at a "premium" price compared to online options. I get the higher cost for the professional staff and the convenience of trying out products. But there is no reason you can't stock lower end items. Live demoing products should make it easy to identify discrepancies in quality between items. It is still a wonderful and welcoming local resource for fans of music.
trump won: I had a great experience with Matt, who helped me immensely with my purchase.
K_ Mc2: Great store...lots of stock for the coming holidays
Peter D: The girl (sorry didn't remember the name!) at the guitar section was amazing, however staff at the entrance is anything but helpful.Got in on Monday to bring a guitar for a service, they told me the guy isn't there on Mondays. I asked about the schedule, was told Tue--Sat USUALLY til 7pm. Specifically confirmed schedule for the next day.Next day comes, I only can get here after 6, so I rush to get here on time, but turns out the technician isn't here since 5pm. Staff just threw up their hands. No apologies, nothing.I mean sure, I should've called prior going to avoid spending my time. But the day prior I specifically asked about the schedule. Why have a schedule when it's not reliable?Just unpleasant and unfriendly. Have no intention of going back.
Hemant Basavapattan: Nice and helpful Associates
Serkan Bekişli: Amazing guitar center.
Jackie C: Came in this evening to look at some new releases from Fender - Vintage Tele. Johnny greeted as we came in and then came back to help locate what we were looking for, which wasn't in stock yet. So we ventured into the acoustics room, looking for a Taylor ce. Johnny patiently provided several different Taylors for Nick to play, even brought some from back stock. When Nick played the 814ce, he knew it was exactly the tone and feel he was looking for. Johnny was awesome through the entire purchase. Thanks Johnny and GC for a great experience!
Roland Stamey: Dedicated crew great customer service?
