margaret savage: I always enjoyed shopping here, but not anymore. You use to find great deals, special items. Today they pick over everything brought in so much that all you are left with is the sale rack of end season mall items for middle to old age conservative ladies work clothes. Nothing hot, nothing leather, nothing designer, nothing silk, nothing but status quo business clothes. Ladies are consistently watching customers but not interactive, more judgement of character it seems to me. Prices are questionable. Co-signers are paid only 40% of their pricing. I do not recommend this place. Since opening the second store. The place is over staffed and over priced. Not a win win.

I have been doing consignment 20 plus years and this by far is the very best establishment and experience that I’ve encountered in the whole state of North Carolina. The level of professionalism is by far 10 stars…the array of selections to choose from. Their prices are the very best in town. One stop shopping for decor, children’s, women’s, men’s, shoes, and jewelry. Once you’ve shopped or consigned at Lily Katz, you will never go anywhere else!!

Susannah-Lee Wagner: I’ve been going here for years but don’t think I’ll go back again. Where do I begin? First things first, regardless of your opinion on the covid vaccine loudly talking about how it’s bad and you don’t believe in it in a business setting as an employee is unprofessional. Two women employees were engaging in this conversation behind the counter for about 5 minutes. This was already off putting in an of itself, but I chose to go about my business and shop anyway. I received multiple looks from a female employee as I browsed, and when I was being checked out the woman behind the counter glared at me the whole time in a very judgmental way. I am a pretty alternative looking person but the interaction made me very uncomfortable. It was just tense and downright malicious. I wasn’t even out the door before I heard her make a negative comment about my outfit to somebody else. Very unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. I will not be returning.

I have to dress up for work so a lot of my professional clothes come from that room. I love being able to find stuff with tags still on them for just $2. Not to mention the .50 coupons at the bottom of the receipts. I love this store! I highly recommend trying this store, it has something for everyone. I’m 23 so it’s NOT a “grandma” store!!

Told us to put the clothes in a cardboard box. We had a box in the car, dumped the clothes in the box, brought it inside and the cardboard box "wasn't good enough". So even when we did exactly what they asked, they turned us away. Very rude and racist. They treated white people much more kindly. I have never had an issue with other Plato's Closets in the past. I've brought in clothes in trash bags and cardboard boxes to other stores and it was never an issue. This Plato's Closet is ridiculously nit-picky.

TAEIL TIME: Horrible selling experience brought in bin they denied because they only take up to 18 gallons bought the 18 gallon gave it to them they put me on an online queue. That was fine it had the time 5:45 which assume is the time I need to be back by but never went the online queue never updated so I waited 2 days I decided to call only for them to tell me that there was nothing they could take an donated it all to a non profit which is fine I wanted to get grid of it anyway. My only issue is if they couldn’t take the cloths what were they gonna tell me if I had went in that day. The young girl at the front explained there process of taking clothes like an auctioneer she didn’t explain it at all. If your looking to sell if your clothes that aren’t for teens I don’t recommend an also make sure that they explain there process very very clearly.

Jaalin Stackhouse: EXTREMELY unpleasant ownership, coming in as a first time seller at this new location it is clear that the woman in charge is deserving of the bad reviews i have seen. Rude from the go and talked to me in a condescending, racist tone when i was nothing but respectful from the beginning. Disappointing to see a place that i utilized for years that was always known for friendly service go down due to this kind of personality. Avoid this place for sure, read all the recent negative reviews and i will make sure the school system has good word about how you treat your teachers and your community.

SweetPea_17: If I could give -5 stars, I would. Karese Whaley (the manager) is a terrible person. I used to work there. I quit because she overworking me right when school was starting because of how short staffed she was. Every single day there would be customers coming in talking about how much they hate Karese. There were so many stories about her calling the police on people. I bet the police were tired of her. It’s actually insane how many people dislike her. When she first hired me she told me that education comes first. Well one of the employees told me that another worker was starting school and Karese actually told the girl that she would rather have her work for her instead of go to school. Makes no sense AT ALL. Another worker told me that she was missing weeks of school because Karese had her working so much. Karese is always extremely short staffed. The reason is because so many people quit because of how rude she is. They hate how she treats them. I’ve been stopped working there but today I went with my sister to sell her shoes. I walked in carrying the box of shoes while my sister was behind me. I put them on the counter and one of the workers asked if I’m 18 or older. My sister said that she was (she’s 25 years old). We handed them her license and Karese asked who’s shoes they were. My sister said they were hers. MY 25 YEAR OLD SISTER. Karese said “I saw her carry in the box”. Does it matter who carried the box??? I don’t know why she was being so weird. We literally told her they were my sisters shoes. She then said that “Mom should come in” even though my sister is 25. We told her that again and she said mom should come in and that the shoes needed to be wiped down. She just tried to come up with any excuse not to take them. I put the box in the car and came back inside by myself just to look around. As I walked in Karese was staring at me with a really rude look on her face. I just ignored her. I don’t know if she did all of this because she recognized me or what. There’s so much more I have to say about Karese but this review is already too long. She’s a terrible, money hungry person and does not deserve any customers.

Libby Snotherly: Workers were super nice and helpful, but the MANAGER was impolite and made comments about my size. The woman claimed to own the place and I respect locals but I was disappointed to have been yelled at by the manager. I feel very bad for the employees who work there and the level of disrespect she showed to them and her customers. Truly sad, hopefully she can change 3 never will go again though, and wish I would’ve read the other reviews.

LaShaun Timms: I visited this location today around 4:30pm. I approached the counter to sell clothes. The cashier, Amaya glanced at me but never acknowledged me. After standing there for about 5 minutes she finally spoke and said she didn’t notice me standing there(which was a lie cause she looked at me several times). Another young lady checked me in, she was pleasant. They told me to come back by 6 to pick my things up, but I received a call about 30 minutes later saying my items were ready. When I arrived I was told they were passing on everything. Let me add that my items were still in the bag the same way I dropped them off so I don’t believe they even looked through my stuff. Now I’ve shopped here before and a a lot of the items I see are run down, dirty or torn. Most of my items had tags in them from SHEIN, Fashionova, etc. I feel like they pick and choose who they want to buy from. I will never patronize this establishment again, this place is a JOKE!

Elisia Valentín: if i could give it a 0 star i would, i brought in all new stuff and a brand new kate spade purse and i kept checking the website that they send you and waited about two hours, which is fine but i walked in and i said “ i don’t know if it’s ready but i just wanted to check” the girl said it could have been ready while it was sitting on the floor and clearly been done for a while. so i was waiting for how long wasting my time for them to take NOTHING!

Roberto Ruiz: So I just got back from a deployment and am having to move so I decided to sell some clothes and a pair of Nikes. Unfortunately, when I went to drop off items at 5pm, they failed to inform me that it was a same day process and I needed to be back in less than an hr. I got stuck in a medical training til late every day. When I finally got time to pick up, I was told of the policy and that it was donated, and that I would receive nothing for my items. There was no attempt to make things right, but I basically told I'm SOL by the owner and was sent away. It was a horrible and frustrating experience today. Will never return here and recommend highly against it.
