Stan Hannen: Fantastic spot for both breakfast and lunch in a historic area of Raleigh. If you didn't have a southern Grandma to cook for you this is the next best thing. Great place for groups, families, a couple, or even alone. Red and white checkered tablecloths and early 20th century country stuff everywhere create a unique and interesting atmosphere. Fast and friendly service. Reasonable prices and a relaxed casual atmosphere. Grab a sweet tea and save your fork for the homemade desserts. Afterwards, you could walk around the cobblestone streets of the Old Farmer's Market or a little further to the local museums.

Noel Hammond: After my daughter graduated, we wanted to take my out-of-town family to Big Ed's. We knew it would probably be busy, so we decided that it would be ok to sit at different tables. When we arrived, we told them that we had 9 of us, but it would be ok to not all sit together. One of the members of the party has diabetes and he really needed to eat. She took our name and said it would be a few minutes. She then proceeded to sit other groups of people before us. After about the 5th table, we again said that we can separate, she said that is didn't matter, we needed to sit together and now it was going to be another 30 minutes...really...she was rude and dismissive. We had to go to another (better) restaurant to get food for the diabetic! We will not be back or recommend this restaurant! There are too many other locally owned businesses that know how to treat their customers well!

BD: When visiting this establishment, I recommend carefully reviewing your bill each time. Unfortunately, I had an experience where I was overcharged for an item I did not order. It was also disappointing that they didn't clarify the additional cost for guacamole, especially considering the restaurant's name is Guasaca. Consider holding your tip until you have received your service.
G V Debnam: My friend introduced me to Guasaca and this was our 2nd visit together. I enjoyed the chicken arepas! He always insists on fettung a side of Guasaca. I'll be back and may bring my nephew.Parking: Going at the peak of lunch time typically means some extra time to find a parking spot but that's because there are some many restaurants and businesses right there together.

Scott Hutcheson: Wife and I visited for the first time in a few years. It used to be delicious, but this time it was very different. We went in around 5:30pm on a Tuesday and the food all tasted old. My wife and I ordered the fried chicken arepas and the "fried chicken" was just breading, there was literally no chicken in the breading. The arepas did not taste fresh. They did make my wife a new fried chicken arepa, but I had already eaten mine before I discovered what I was eating. I also had the grilled chicken, but it tasted like it had been sitting around for awhile. It was extremely disappointing.
Kent Wetherhold: My wife and I were looking for a simple, quick lunch. We love Mexican and they were on our way. Plenty of parking with easy access. Service was quick and the Arepas were excellent. Been there twice and we'll be going again soon. Highly recommend.
Poeta Oscuro: White lady was racist and pretend she didn’t understand my English. She would also charge more if I ask for just one more green sauce, a problem I didn’t have before with anyone else working there. Great food, bad service.
Heath Buckmaster: One of the best fast food meals in a long time. Strong and bold flavours and fast friendly service. We had the chicken and steak arepas which were fantastic but the highlight is their guacamole. Delicious.Recommended dishes Chicken Arepa, Vegetarian Includes Guasaca …More

Jordan Cao: Consistently delicious. A good option for lunch during the work day. Food is tasty and ingredients are fresh. I've not had a bad meal here. I have had to wait a couple times for them to cook whatever protein because they ran out on the serving station, but they do tend to be quick enough when they happens. It can get a little noisy if it's really crowded.
Hiedi Wilson: Nice atmosphere and great food.

dan smith: I can’t quit this place. I have a ton of options for burgers but I keep coming back here. MoJoe’s is a first rate burger bar. The half pound smash and fried chicken (buffalo dredge) sandwich are my go to orders. Deliciously loaded with fresh produce and MoJoe’s sauce should be a controlled substance cuz it’s addictive. Also give the tots with pimento cheese a try, mmmm. There’s a good selection of beers, booze, and boozy shakes to wash it down so you’ll be able to find something you like. Feel free to ask the servers for suggestions, there’s a lot of the same faces every time I eat here and all of them are great. This is the casual dining destination on Glenwood South.

Ed Bailey: MoJoe's is not necessarily a place to go for a quiet, reflective eating experience in beautiful surroundings, though its casual, bustling vibe certainly has its place. No, the reason you go to MoJoe's Burger Joint is right there in the name: you go for the burgers! And that, my friends, is where it shines. Just take a look at the attached photo: that's one full pound of luscious ground beef smothered with cheddar cheese, grilled mushrooms'n'onions, and a few strips of bacon as a garnish. No bun, 'cause that's how I roll, but you can get a work of art like this ensconced in bready goodness if you like; I won't judge. There's boozy stuff if you want it, but personally I'm all about cow, 'cause that's how I roll. The waitstaff are usually hustling, but friendly, and handle modifications to items on the menu with grace. Be sure to tip 'em well, and don't hog that table—they're on a mission to put food into faces, as the lines often found outside can attest. If this sounds like your kind of place, by all means go—you won't be disappointed!
Taylor: Recommended dishes Inferno Burger, French FriesMore
Moira: Their burgers (beef and turkey) are good but lack seasoning/flavor. Still juicy and not dry though. Lots of toppings and options to choose from. Sides are sold separately and not as a combo. Fries are good though, and they have the best ranch and Mojoe's sauce.Vegetarian options: Black bean burger is a good vegetarian option!Parking: They have a very small lot they own so if you go when it is busy you will have to park somewhere else on Glenwood south.

Matthew Randall: Walking into the roast grill is like being transported back in time. It’s an incredible experience made even better by the welcoming owners. Don’t however expect to be blown away by the quality of the food. In addition, prices are no longer low. Despite this, it’s a must go for anyone living in Raleigh that has not yet had the opportunity

Reid H: A piece of Raleigh history and delicious to boot. If you're near downtown Raleigh and want some delicious hot dogs, head to the Roast Grill. Where blue collar and white collar pull up to the same bar and dine shoulder to shoulder on well cooked hotdogs, glass bottle cokes, and never a drop of ketchup. The same grill sizzles away in the corner of this all-cash eatery. Accessibility has not improved with the recent pay-to-park scheme the city of Raleigh has implemented, but, the walk is worth it.I get them extra burnt with just chili and a dash of Texas Pete. It's heavenly.
Helen Pastras: Prices have gone up quite a bit compared to what I read in past reviews, but the dogs are delish and the people really nice!!
Dash Crabtree: George and Kathy are two wonderful people who serve up original recipe chili/slaw Hotdogs. Truly a delicious hot dog. The baklava is also a secret recipe that bursts with incredible rich flavor. Don’t shy away because of the simple appearance of the outside , you can’t beat honest home cooking. Don’t miss this place.
Charlie Copeland: Absolute perfect atmosphere for a hot dog joint. I've had better dogs, but I've never had them at a better spot. Dogs were perfectly charred and the chili was great. The slaw wasn't the best I've had but it didn't take anything away from the dog. Service was as sweet as the Tootsie Roll that was handed out at the end. Probably couldn't bring the boy because... NO KETCHUP ALLOWED!
John Erickson: Glad they survived the pandemic! Just like I remember it. Classic Raleigh original
Kent Luhring: What can I say. It's like stepping back in time a little. Simple menu, for simpler times. If you love a good hot dog, or what would be known as a southern-style Coney dog, this is the place to go to.Parking may be a challenge sometimes, so be patient. It's worth it, and you'll definitely want to come back.

marque1313: Like taking a step back in time in the best way possible. One small lunch counter and 2 small tables. No frills hot dogs, a few simple sides and soft drinks. Hot dogs are cooked perfectly and staff is friendly and attentive. You can also get your dogs to go if its full inside. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Gary Morris: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Glenn Million: They supposedly close at 9pm. You better get there before 8pm though because these people are lazy. Walked in at 8:23 on the spot and we were told they only have white meat chicken… makes sense they probably only cook a certain amount a day. We said that’s fine… and moved on to the sides where the lady behind the register listed of maybe 4 of the total amount of sides they have… we asked for fries and they said no we don’t have any… we then asked for fried plantains… we quickly caught on that they have them they just don’t want to cook them. So I asked and she said “because we are closing”, um excuse me it’s 35 minutes before the times it says you close on the door. Typical situation where they are lazy and want to all be able to leave right at 9pm. I hate places like this that value themselves on the customer service they provide when they really don’t. Glad they are moving, won’t be going to the new location.
Dmytro Kozhyn: Yummy food:)

newag718: This place used to be good but they got rid of their green beans and the chicken was smaller and dry last time. Go to Alpaca if you want good Peruvian chicken and the amazing green beans that Mami's used to have.Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Ziad Noueihed: I'm very disappointed: This place used to be so much better before Covid: The food, the rotisserie smells, the seating area, the atmosphere, ...First time I go back after Covid, and unfortunately it seems to have changed for the worse: Much "colder", very impersonal overall vibe. No fountain drinks (only bottled drinks...), you have to ask for condiments (ketchup, sauces, etc), silverware, and (tiny) water cups (the only drink available self serve...). As for the food, the chicken is (very) dry, especially for rotisserie (and I had the dark meat...). The sides are a hit or miss: For example, the rice is very dry but the fries are very good, and this applies to other sides. The green sauce is delicious. The only thing that is still really good is the Staff: Very friendly and helpful. It really pains me to leave such a review as this used to be a great, tasty place which had personality, and which I really liked. It has unfortunately definitely changed for the worse
Jaime Ochoa: Place was busy, although the food coming out of the kitchen did not appeal to our Peruvian senses. It was appreciated by foreign palates though. And they had good flow of customers, then again the dishes were not presented as traditionally made Peruvian food. The rotisserie chicken was charred black. And the meats looked dried up. They had a combination of Hispanic dishes, which probably meant that the cooks were not Peruvian and were presenting their take on Peruvian food.
Dwight Hallman: Food: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
J Lipoff: We waited a very long time for food, which we never ended up getting because we left as there were cockroaches crawling around the table. Received a refund at least, but no one seemed concerned when I informed them of the German cockroach situation. Go to Alpaca instead, which has the same cuisine but is clean, fast, friendly, and cheaper.
O. Modesto Chicas: The food is great but is one of the most expensive places in the area, also with the dirty restrooms.Food: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 2/5 …More

Dee Zelaya: Stopped between 10:30am-11:00am.The homeless community is able to come eat and work here as they are- no clean clothes or appearance. They also work as servers without basic serving skills- we were sprayed with disinfectant as the table beside us was cleaned. We didn’t receive silverware or napkins with our eat-in meal. We liked the corn bread and the spicy biscuit, the Huevos Rancheros were not good. The egg on the Huevos Rancheros was waaay undercooked and the tortilla was soggy. We spent $39 for breakfast and left feeling disgusted. This place should not be marketed as a coffee shop or restaurant; it is a clean cut walk-in soup kitchen. In this place you’re eating and sharing a space with people of extreme poverty and homelessness. It was a terrible experience.
Jeromy Clements: The cinnamon latte was fire! The ambience was amazing and eating at a place with such a wholesome mission was wonderful!
