We came to H&H shoe repair with the hopes that they could either fix the shoe or help us with inserts or some guidance as to how to make the shoe fit her foot better. The gentleman that helped us (I don’t remember his name) was amazing he gave us better inserts and a few tips on how to make the shoe tighter and fit her foot better. Samantha: I need the bottoms of my shoes built up, and a physical therapist recommended I go here. They have now worked on 3 pairs for me. For what I need, it's $50/shoe, and it usually takes them less than a week. It's not the finest craftsmanship or most excellent customer service, as none of the employees have said anything to me other than about the transaction, but they get the job done. My shoes have held up as much as expected over time, so I don't have any horror stories. However, I'd be willing to go elsewhere if it were more affordable or similarly priced with more personable service.

Todd Grooms: I have worn orthotics since I was 13. I have had a difficult finding someone who could make an orthotic for me that didn't end up hurting my ankles and knees. Fast forward 33 years and my chiropractor said that I should check out H and H. I can't say enough good things about them. Liz took the time to throughly examine my feet and gait and made me a pair of orthotics that fit perfectly and have allowed me to get into a wide shoe instead of an extra wide shoe. They were also able to widen my cycling shoes without me having to remove the cleats. I would recommend them to anyone who needs orthotics or shoe adjustments.

Benjamin Gurlitz: I brought in a pair of Allen Edmonds to have the heel and sole replaced. Upon dropping them off, I was surprised at the price and quick turn around. The entire job cost $60.00 and they would be ready in three days.When I picked up my shoes three days later, I surprised at the poor quality of craftsmanship and the the poor quality of the materials used. Normally, when a pair of shoes is resoled, the cobbler carves out a small channel in the sole and sews the stitches into the channel. Instead of taking the time to carve out a channel, the cobbler made a little slit. Most of the stitches went into the little slit, but some did not. Not only was the craftsmanship sloppily done, it was so sloppily done that it effected the durability of the repair. They also polished my shoes and I'm pretty sure they used a cheap petroleum based product.What's more, the materials they used seemed to be below par. I'm not an expert on sole leather, but after wearing my shoes a few times, it became very clear that the soles would need to be replaced within 6-8 months (they should last for at least year).Bottom line: If you're not a shoe person, then this place is viable. It's cheap and the turn around time is very good. If you are a shoe person, you will be disappointed. The point of purchasing expensive shoes is that, over the long run, they will be cheaper because one only needs to replace the soles instead of getting a new pair of shoes. If you go here, you will absolutely have to replace the soles more often and it will end up being more expensive.

I'm so extremely disappointed with the results and service. Granted, they were ivory, not white, so I wasn't expecting perfect, but when I bring my shoes in with the swatch and you tell me it can be done, I expect a good job.... especially for the shoes I'm wearing on my wedding day!The dye job is so terrible it's embarrassing. I can't wear them on my wedding day, and have pictures taken of them! The dye is darker in areas on the bow... Which is front and center, a focal point of the shoes, it makes the shoes look dirty. Some areas are barely dyed, and still look White. I was so disappointed when I got these back, and I even expressed this and told the girl "I can't wear these for my wedding, these look awful". She just shrugged and basically told me if I want to find another pair that is actually white "she'd probably work with me on the price". I'm sorry...What makes you think I'd come back after my wedding shoes were already ruined, and pay again!!?? It wouldn't be so bad if the lady would have come out and talked to me and told me what to expect, but she didn't.. nobody did. All I got was a simple "yep she can do it", and I was so thrilled to hear it could be done. I most likely would not have opted to get them dyed if someone had come out and talked to me - letting me know they could possibly be ruined. I was already on the fence about not dying them as it was. So upsetting! I cannot even begin to express my disappointment. As if planning a wedding isn't stressful enough! Now I have to find another pair of shoes bc these aren't even in stock in my size anymore, and it took me MONTHS just to settle on these shoes. I can't even find these in my size and the right color anywhere now, they are sold out!

(I drove from near Virginia for this)My first sales person was Melody and she told me I had a few shoes to pick out, didn't measure my foot or test for anything. She told me I had 14 days to return for a full refund and I could test them walking around the local store in which I did and experienced terrible foot pain but they were closed so I had to wait to go back.Upon returning I was greeted by an older woman with a bitter attitude and said I could not return the shoes as promised by Melody after only testing them for 20 minutes in the local Harris teeter.Aaron said Melody should not have sold the shoes and has no experience, he then tried to upsell me foam inserts that just flatten out and traded me for a pair of shoes that squeeze my toes and are narrow vs wide.He told me they need a "break in period" and if that doesn't work to come back.The following week I returned on a day off having blisters and severe foot pain due to two terrible pairs of shoes from this store.I was told the refund would be processed even when she initially messed up.A few weeks later nothing so I called and asked for the owner, and her name is Tricia according to her.She left a voicemail at the end of her day and was very rude. They kept the faulty shoes and inserts so I filed a dispute with my credit card, only to have them reverse it and charge me again but now twice!A lawsuit for false advertising is up next and selling faulty items, theft of money even with a full return of good condition items and terrible attitude.Avoid this place at all costs, terrible experience and my wife is a witness and has several encounters recorded.*"Update**They claim I wore shoes for a week and that's a bold faced LIE! I took them to the local store as Melody told me and walked around for 20-30 minutes INSIDE and I was getting blisters so I cleaned and boxed them to take back.Same with the second pair and I have plenty of proof for a court of law!

Steven Horvitz: I went here on a recommendation and the sales lady convinced me to buy a shoe with guide rails and thicker cushioning. The shoes were on sale and being discontinued. Turns out they were built for a non neutral foot and when I ran it caused a lot of foot pain and then hip pain. I tried to email and no response. I think the sales team needs to know what they are selling. Bought a neutral pair and problems went away. Unfortunately the owner didn’t wait on me.

Nora Maynard: I first came here a few months ago due to the glowing reviews. I have very high arches and struggle with running shoes that have enough support. I was sized and evaluated and given multiple pairs to try on, eventually settling on one and purchasing them.I wore them for months and my arches were very happy, but I regularly had toe pain which was new for me. Today I went back in to inquire why they thought that was happening and to see if they had suggestions on how to address it. I was informed I was wearing shoes too small, much to my surprise since they'd sized me themselves. I was wearing 7.5 and now I left today in an 8.5 wide.One star is knocked off for the original incorrect sizing and months of discomfort, but the other four stars were completely earned today when they resized me and replaced my shoes free of charge. Excellent business practices, especially for maintaining clientele. They acknowledged it was their error and they were happy to correct it. I absolutely recommend shopping here!

Rob Mattson: I came to Raleigh from Oklahoma for a conference and inadvertently left my dress shoes at home, making boots my only option to wear with a suit. “Rough-looking” is a massive understatement for the condition of my boots, so I went to Ealdwine for some shoe polish, and saw that the product had changed quite a bit over the past few years. I had a few questions about leather conditioner, how much polish to use, etc. (stuff like that), and Mr. Gray took the time to show me everything, on my boots at that. The difference is tremendous, and I’m not JUST talking about how my boots look now. For a business owner to take time out of his day, literally get his hands dirty, and go to such lengths for a customer who might come to Raleigh every five years or so… It speaks volumes about Mr. Gray as a person and business owner. I’m now more informed, equipped with some really good polish, and won’t feel so embarrassed about wearing beat-up boots with a suit.Another cool thing, assuming most will be looking/shopping for more than shoe polish, the store’s beautifully designed, and chockablock with some of the finest in men’s clothing and beautiful footwear. Mr. Gray personally helped with the design in many of the latter (Alden’s handmade in Massachusetts), so I definitely feel like I was in good hands, and had definitely come to the right place.Great owner. Jason: Let me start with I had to order from the store. Matt knows his stuff but, he knows Alden’s like the back of his hand. I was a bit skeptical on sizing as we all are but, Matt reassured me if I wear a 11 in (x) brand an 11 in Alden would be spot on. My first pair of boots didn't fit. A new pair was sent over ASAP. They even helped me when I screwed up the shipping address for my shoes. The selection of Alden shoes and boots, the exclusive make-ups, the outstanding brands and variety of clothing are all important and all top tier.The best aspect however is certainly the service. Jim and Matt are next level, which is why you see so many reviews echoing their names and those sentiments. They legitimately want each and every experience to be a great one, and it starts from the moment you walk in until you leave - with or without making a purchase. You are treated far more as a guest than a customer regardless of how much you spend, and the vibe of the store is so fun and cool it’s hard to not want to spend time looking around.Great and interesting selection, elite service, and a cool location really make this store a must re-visit for me and has me thoroughly looking forward to my future visits!

Dane Weeks: Man, pictures or words won't do the outstanding work these guys do justice. I had the sole rip clean off of one of my Asolo hiking boots and really didn't want to replace them because of the cost and the boot being in perfect shape excluding the sole. They restored my boots to a condition that I didn't think was possible. BE PATIENT. They do take awhile. But the result is absolutely worth it.

Nicodemous: What a great shop! Great customer service with a fast turn around time!I mailed them 4 pair of Birkenstocks, 2 Arizonas, 1 Boston and 1 Ramses. The Arizonas just needed new bottoms but the Boston had a broken buckle and the Ramses had a broken toe thong and they fixed them all in a day and they arrived in the mail the literal next day in tip top shape! Even added some better (IMO) VIBRAM bottoms that are noticable thicker (I think 116 of an inch or so).If you need any shoe repairs especially Birkenstocks look no further. If you live further away no problem just mail them your repairs with your contact info and they'll Handel it all over the phone!

Hannah Willoughby: Always have been super helpful but especially so after I got there at 5:15 and probably spent 30 minutes trying on two types of shoes. After I left they locked up- I felt awful to have kept them after hours but had no idea they closed at 5:30. Wasn’t rushed and he took his time making sure I found exactly what I wanted.

sad hours: I am very pleased with the service and quality! Had a pair of stilettos that I had only worn twice. Man-Mur Shoe Shop originally told me that it'll take about a week to be fixed, which is no problem. However, they called me the next day and told me that it was ready. I am so impressed! My heel looks like it was never broken! So worth the money! I will definitely be coming to them if ever needed.

Mark Wood: A great place to get work boots! I have heard of Lee's Shoes before, but this was my first visit. I wish I would have shopped here before. Their work boot selection is very good. I bought my first pair of Thorogood boots from them just now. I saw Carolina, Wolverine, Ariat, Georgia Boot, and many more manufacturers boots available for purchase. Both father and son were welcoming. Very happy with service and selection. I will certainly be back. One more thing I want to mention - I often read reviews before going places. A few reviews said they were racist. As I went to the register to pay, a few ladies of color were at the register talking and joking with the owner like they were old friends. If he is a racist, he's really bad at it. Just my take. If you are on the fence, give them a chance. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Upon my return to retrieve my shoes three days later, I received the same unwarranted treatment from the owner. He did an excellent job on repairing my shoes; however, he failed on treating me with same due courtesy as the other customers who entered his place of business. I clearly will NOT utilize his services again and I do NOT advise anyone who is a minority to "set foot" in this business for shoe repairs. Unfortunately "we" are truly NOT welcomed here!
