The Optimist Raleigh: what do users think?
Meghan Polinski (Meg): i absolutely love the optimist. it’s a relaxed environment with plants everywhere and they make great coffee. they roast their own beans but also have (as of this review) vignette coffee beans for sale. there is a back patio, if the inside is too crowded, that dogs are welcomed to chill on. they also have events (like yoga on the patio) and live music on certain daysdefinitely a place where i bring out-of-towners.
Ajimon Thomas: As a plant lover, this would’ve been an easy 5 star but for the not-perfect service. I had the 3 amigos (tacos) and Chai Latte - enjoyed both. My gf had the Yogi-Berry, coffee cake, and Vanila iced latte. The coffee cake felt too sweet and her latte wasnt good. Our coffees took a while to come out - we were done eating by that time. Otherwise, the vibes are great. Loved the plant wall and all the plants this place has.
Amanda Chilton: I've been on the hunt for the best Latte in the Triangle and this place is easily in my top 5 (and I've been to A LOT of coffee shops lol). Great coffee, friendly staff and good food. LOVE the decor. I wish more coffee shops felt as warm as this one does. I will say it has been super busy every time I've come in so it can be hard to find a place to sit and parking is sparse.
Leandra Lee: LOVE the Optimist! friendly staff and delicious food and coffee. It can be a little cramped and the parking is slim for the strip, but there is street parking surrounding, and being busy is a good thing!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Kelsier Night4ngel: Quality coffee in this not-so-hidden-gem, as well as very delicious muffins and some nice lunch items.Cozy atmosphere is only exceeded by its polite and professional staff.
Lisa Puglia: First time visiting. Very cute place. Loved all the plants. Food and coffee were delicious. Very nice patio. Would highly recommend and will visit again.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Daily Assortment of Pastries, English Muffin Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …More

Hailey C.: Fabulous vibe. Great variety of seating and the interior is gorgeous. The drinks are always excellent, and the menu is good for a quick bite. This is one of my favorite places to work to break up the day.
Dana: Holy!!! The atmosphere has my heart, the aesthetic is amazing, good vibes all around. great coffee, and awesome staff.I’d highly recommend this place, it’s my favorite in NC.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Iced Latte …More
creeks N rivers: Had a decaf americano and it was great, and an English muffin that was great too. Atmosphere is fun and the menu has perfect range of small snacks and full plates.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Lillian Grace: This is the first caramel latte I ever had where it actually tastes like caramel, and not a sugar syrup 3 3 3 very rich and full flavored espresso and the caramel flavor is the best I've had. :) keep it up!Food: 5/5 …More
Cigdem Meral: they keep it so cold for some reason. 68 is their set temperature and it feels like a walking fridge for real. Most of the times I avoid this place because of that. If you are sitting and working then you will start feeling really cold because the air is blowing directly on you
John Zeglen: Good food and coffee. Nice local vibe. Laid back.
Jennifer Murphy: My absolute favorite coffee shop in Raleigh and I LOVE the breakfast sandwiches. My husband is both frugal and picky about his coffee and this is one of the only places he’ll willingly agree to go for coffee because it’s so good. And consistently good - he’s never complained about the coffee (he finds some other places hit and miss). Plus the vibes are 👌🏼 💀
Dylan Morris: Great atmosphere. Good coffee. Friendly staff. And a solid menu for breakfast and snacks.
elena tselishcheva: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Kieora Nichols: This place sucks! No, just kidding. It’s definitely a vibe.Best London fog I’ve had in the triad area.
Amy Deming: The Pancho Villa English muffin was delicious! Their iced Chai is also very good.
Dylan Anderson: I would’ve loved to have given this place a better review. The vibes in this place were immaculate, one of the best in Raleigh. The service was very good with kind and courteous staff. However, the coffee was not good. I got an iced lavender latte. The espresso tasted burnt and bitter, I thought there was no lavender flavoring in the latte at all until I realized that all of the syrup was just chilling at the bottom of the cup and not incorporated into the beverage itself at all. I was really expecting great coffee based on all of the other factors but that is not what I received. My friend who was with me also got a latte and his was just as bad as mine was.
Shanah Bell: We decided to check this place out on our ongoing quest to find some great coffee spots in the area. The atmosphere was fantastic and we loved the vibe, as well as all of the seating! They are dog friendly on both their front and back patios, but not in the shop itself (obviously). My daughter got an Iced Caramel Latte with oat milk and I got a Golden Milk Matcha with soy milk. The pricing for both was a bit higher than I'd like to pay for 12oz drinks, but seems pretty on par with what the local code shop pricing is lately.I really enjoyed my drink, albeit a little on the sweeter side than I'd prefer. My daughter liked hers for the most part, but said the aftertaste was a bit off for her (too thick and smoky).Overall, it appears to be a great local spot to hang out for coffee and tea. They did have a smaller food menu, but I didn't see much that appeared to be gluten free and vegetarian for me. So I probably wouldn't go there to eat anything.
Jill Furgurson: Plants, delightful combinations of flavor, and plenty of outdoor seating - what’s not to love?

Juanote Maize: This is a great place to hang out in line for a really long time and meet people's dogs. I just wanted coffee.
Dylan Anderson: Sola is one of the best coffee shops in the triangle! If you are looking for great food along with your coffee then it is the best! There is no where else that I have found locally that can put out the consistent quality of coffee drinks and food with the plethora of options that Sola provides. Do yourself a favor and give Sola a try!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Nick DiColandrea: One of the best local coffee shops in Raleigh. Coffee is second to none in, including their espresso drinks. The breakfast and lunch menus are quite extensive so don’t overlook Sola as a dining option. Great options for everyone, young and old! I love their house made syrups. The place gets BUSY so seating inside can be hard to find and they turn off wifi during some hours which is still disappointing for those who WFH that need a change of scenery. So plan accordingly if you have kids or guests and can’t wait around for a table.
Caren Enloe: Recommended dishes Cinnamon Sugar DonutsMore
Ian Melville: Sola is the best combination of community coffee shop and good coffee. Try the doughnut minis and an espresso .
Amelia Lee: I went for a latte and got their egg breakfast sandwich. It's a cute lil shop with it's merch on a wall to browse while you wait in line. The employee was really nice taking my order after I asked some questions and also when they gave me my food. Their egg sandwich is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. It has a great balance of sweet and savory - which is amazing and still trying to figure out the sweet taste. I enjoyed the latte and hope to try their other coffees soon. It's a great place to grab a quick coffee or sit down and enjoy a meal!
L. Lauren Daniels-Black: I didn't have any food so my feedback is zero in that area. Met a colleague there for a quick drink but looking forward to returning for the full dining experience. Atmosphere is great!Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Wesley White: Sola is a really nice little breakfast spot that is really popular. It’s almost too busy for it’s own good. The line to order snakes around inside and is kind of a pain if you’re dining indoors. The food and coffee are both reasonably priced and the service was great. My wife loved the little shop and even got a shirt. My kids loved all the flavors of mini donuts, especially the strawberry. I highly recommend but maybe come on a weekday or less popular time
Jeremy Wilson: Sola is run and staffed by the nicest people. Great atmosphere, lots of outdoor seating, good coffee, creative food. The Staff Eggwich is an explosion of flavor. This is hands down the best coffee shop I've ever been to.
Zane Bishop: Great food, drinks, and atmosphere!

Deborah Oronzio: Glad to have learned about this friendly, funky coffee shop with artsy interior and ample - some covered - outdoor seating. We visited on a SAT morning, fortunate to find an outside table. The iced latte with lavender was delicious. Hubs had a regular hot brew and I got him an amply-sized covered bear claw. Look delish to me - too many almonds for his liking. He said he'd be back because he saw other bakery items that looked delish. I enjoyed the avocado toast. Jubala Coffee: what do users think?
Rachel Bramble: Some of the best coffee in Raleigh! Their lattes and matcha are particularly inspired. Their menu items are amazing, which is rare for a cafe. I got the tuna melt last time I was there and the ingredients were high quality. The ambience is very bright and cheery, think lots of beige and pine. It's close to Hillsborough, so the street noises reverberate a bit, but overall a solid meeting place for a friend date.

Ryan Esopa: I absolutely love this location the issue I have is simply how long the air conditioning has been broken. I have worked in restaurants my entire life and I feel horribly for the staff because I know if I am miserable as a customer that’s in and out, how insane must it be for the people in the kitchen? It concerns me for their health and safety.
Melissa Stroud: I fell in love with this place. The environment is relaxed and laid back with doors open. The food was real and clean. Such a refreshing break from other places.Dietary restrictions: The food and drinks are not laden with sugar. Yogurt is plain greek yogurt, which is so hard to find dining out. Oatmeal seemed to be just oatmeal. You add what you want. So for people eating clean or real food, even for diabetics, this is a viable option.

It was our first time time there and we asked for a recommendation.Husband got a hot mocha latte which was very tasty, not overpowering chocolate flavor.I tried a new tonic drink, iced watermelon tonic espresso. It was sooo tasty! Perfect combo of espresso and watermelon flavor without being too sweet or too bitter. Great for a hot summer day too.
