Voyager: One should absolutely try this place for breakfast/brunch & coffee of course. We noticed people from all age groups having good time at this place. They have seating avilable outside & on the 2nd floor.

Wen: Ordered beans to go, a cortado and a waffle. Waffle was salty instead of sweet. I didn't hear the cortado being called and asked nicely about it. Literally said "hey guys I ordered a cortado a while ago..." In a soft voice. The white blond barista felt it was time to become KarenTM and cut me off saying "I call it ten times I'll make another one" in the most unwelcoming tone. I left, I was concerned the barista would add extra salt or spit on my coffee, because I guess it personally offended her I didn't hear my order despite the shop not being busy, the line being empty, and she laying back talking to the other barista and on her phone. I used to be a barista myself and I don't remember ever treating a customer this poorly for being distracted with their conversation. I wish I had gone to McDonald's, they offer better service at the drive through than this barista.

Nondescript front but inside is beautiful and record holding. There was no orange juice, so I make do with lemonade. Here comes the very charming and informally sweet owner Mr. Jeff, who entertained us with lovely conversations, actual facts and free sampling of mint chocolate and chocolate covered pretzels. He regaled us with the history behind the wall to wall panoramic painting totally made up of variety of coffee beans of various hues, being in Guinness Records for such feat. Decorations are eclectic and variety with French flag and some jewelry for sale. Clientele is mixed, mostly on younger side and few college crowds. The owner manned the counter and boy was he a hoot, definitely in his element. The food was fresh and quick. I had a vegan sandwich that was by my surprise served with a cold bean salad and couscous. Filling and priced well for the area.

Meghan Polinski (Meg): i absolutely love the optimist. it’s a relaxed environment with plants everywhere and they make great coffee. they roast their own beans but also have (as of this review) vignette coffee beans for sale. there is a back patio, if the inside is too crowded, that dogs are welcomed to chill on. they also have events (like yoga on the patio) and live music on certain daysdefinitely a place where i bring out-of-towners.
Ajimon Thomas: As a plant lover, this would’ve been an easy 5 star but for the not-perfect service. I had the 3 amigos (tacos) and Chai Latte - enjoyed both. My gf had the Yogi-Berry, coffee cake, and Vanila iced latte. The coffee cake felt too sweet and her latte wasnt good. Our coffees took a while to come out - we were done eating by that time. Otherwise, the vibes are great. Loved the plant wall and all the plants this place has.
Amanda Chilton: I've been on the hunt for the best Latte in the Triangle and this place is easily in my top 5 (and I've been to A LOT of coffee shops lol). Great coffee, friendly staff and good food. LOVE the decor. I wish more coffee shops felt as warm as this one does. I will say it has been super busy every time I've come in so it can be hard to find a place to sit and parking is sparse.

Cigdem Meral: they keep it so cold for some reason. 68 is their set temperature and it feels like a walking fridge for real. Most of the times I avoid this place because of that. If you are sitting and working then you will start feeling really cold because the air is blowing directly on you

Dylan Anderson: I would’ve loved to have given this place a better review. The vibes in this place were immaculate, one of the best in Raleigh. The service was very good with kind and courteous staff. However, the coffee was not good. I got an iced lavender latte. The espresso tasted burnt and bitter, I thought there was no lavender flavoring in the latte at all until I realized that all of the syrup was just chilling at the bottom of the cup and not incorporated into the beverage itself at all. I was really expecting great coffee based on all of the other factors but that is not what I received. My friend who was with me also got a latte and his was just as bad as mine was.

The pricing for both was a bit higher than I'd like to pay for 12oz drinks, but seems pretty on par with what the local code shop pricing is lately.I really enjoyed my drink, albeit a little on the sweeter side than I'd prefer. My daughter liked hers for the most part, but said the aftertaste was a bit off for her (too thick and smoky).Overall, it appears to be a great local spot to hang out for coffee and tea. They did have a smaller food menu, but I didn't see much that appeared to be gluten free and vegetarian for me. So I probably wouldn't go there to eat anything.

T.C. Cruz: Not a ton of space to sit. There wasn't too many people when we went, not busy at all. The food was actually pretty good. Price is a little higher but it's a museum. Some of the staff are not helpful and try to avoid eye contact. You get a buzzer for when your food is ready, I had 2 orders and when it buzzed only one of my orders was out, I attempted to ask about my second order but the employee bring food out just ignored me and went back inside. I am still not sure if they bring things out one at a time as I was unable to ask. I had to ask someone that was cooking and they were able to bring the rest of my order thankfully. The food was what made my review 4 stars. We got some wraps and sandwiches.

Ian: Both me and my wife got food poisoning from here. We got the chicken sandwich and were sick for days a few hours after eating. The lines were also ridiculous. The girl at the counter told us all to wrap around the side where other guests were sitting at the bar area and had to stand 2 inches from them trying to enjoy their food. You’re invading personal space at that point, Covid or no Covid. The health dept needs to check on places like this more often. We will never be back and will go to one of the thousand other great places in Raleigh.
