Roger Carter: Me and the family came here on a Wednesday night because my wife was craving seafood, and we have had really good experiences in the past at this mayflower, but this particular night was an outlier. First off, the Waitress was very polite and the service was phenomenal no complaints on customer service. When it comes to the food, I was disappointed. The shrimp was over cooked and rubbery, the flounder was hard and tasteless, the fried okra was practically burnt, the coleslaw was decent, hushpuppies were pretty good. The food is usually much better, I am guessing they just had an off night, but it was an “on” night for the roaches because one decided to crawl over to have dinner with us but he was sent to God soon after.

Little tacky how they have waiters folding gloves and bibs in the open dining area. They had stacked boxes of various paper products and business supplies that you could see from the dining room that reminded me of low-quality Chinese takeout. Beth Holsomback: Service was very slow. There were 4 of us, we got apps, salads and entrees and a single plate was never removed from our table. I had to stack all of our unwanted plates next to me at the end of the table and NO server or manager ever picked them up. What makes it worse is we were sitting right next to the kitchen so about every server in the restaurant walked by our table. We were also brought drink refills when we didn’t need them and all the glasses were left on our table. I had to box our leftovers on my lap because there was no room on the table. The calamari was frozen not fresh and it was so greasy you could wring it out. The server that delivered our food didn’t know what was on the plates and since 3 of us got steak (different cook temps) and crab legs we had to all cut our steaks and pass the plates around to figure out whose was whose. I got a filet and it was so tough there were bites I could barely chew and swallow. One of us wanted the new lemon pepper crab legs and they were brought a huge bowl of lemon pepper sauce instead of them putting it on the crab legs, not good at all. Our butter was separated and cool and I cut my thumb on my crab legs because I wanted to eat and they took forever to bring the crackers. I would not go back and I would not recommend anyone go there.

Had to ask multiple times from 2 waitresses to get our drinks (the place only had maybe 5 tables occupied in the whole restaurant including our table of 2). Then I got my salad way after. The Brussel sprouts (which we normally like) were dried out husks so we sent it back but we were still charged for it. We won't be back. I used to really love Red Lobster but the food/quality & service are lacking.

Of course, the cheddar bay biscuits did not disappoint; DELISH! The bartender appeared to be frustrated and annoyed with his life in general and expressed that he would rather be anywhere than at work. Other employees came to the bar to get drinks and expressed the same sentiment about working the dining room area. They complained about their experiences with other patrons, lack of good tips and overall frustration with working in a restaurant. I did not get the impression that it was the best place to work, so with all the negativity, my dining experience was not very satisfying. On the bright side, the manager was a breath of fresh air. She prepared a cocktail for me while the frustrated bartender took a smoke break. I enjoyed my conversation with her which is the reason why I gave the restaurant 3 stars instead of one.

Plus, I had to pay 20% tip (gratuity) on top of our bill given my party size (7 adults, 1 child). I'm not sure if this was a one-off experience, but I will not be visiting this location again.

Robin Mehera: It was a warm and pleasant Friday evening. We wanted to get an early dinner and sit outside. In came the Cortezzzzz. Upon entry we were greeted by a friendly hostess, they sat us outside.They had a small menu which made it easy to narrow down our selection. We ordered some cocktails to start, which were every delicious. They appear to have a rotating drink menu.We ordered Brussels sprouts(which are a bit pricy.. $14). And a whole fried sea bass.Both very good, next time I want to try the burger which is rated one of the best in Raleigh.

Henry Depew: We did cortez sailboat and ceviche to start and they were good. Burger and fries were good. Did fish and that was enjoyed. We got there at 8:30 and got seated. Took over 8 minutes for waitress to approach table. We ordered drinks with us ordering mezcal drink and another saying i will have same and waitress bringing tequila version? Water went and stayed empty, had to get up and get next round of drinks from bar. Tried to get service and help several times and finally just accepted that we would not be helped. Would not go back although did enjoy some of the food.
