Bruce Berger: Have a family member at Abbotswood and live close by. The staff, with low turnover, has been excellent: responsive, communicative, proactive and professional. The facility is always clean and well-maintained. Abbotswood is well run and cares for its residents.

Matthew Johnson: Abbottswood is the perfect size: small enough that the staff and residents know each other but large enough to be able to offer a range of activities and a good dining service. Some assisted living facilities have a nursing wing or a memory care wing. At Abbottswood, residents stay in their apartment and receive whatever extra care they might need in their apartment. This helps avoid the stigma of needing extra care and avoids a stressful move when a senior begins to struggle with an issue or two.

We all talk often of how grateful we were that we chose Abbottswood because she was in such good hands, especially over the past year as we had to navigate COVID. Even when the community restricted visitation for the safety of the guests, we knew she was in good hands and were glad to have the team at Abbottswood looking out for her. It truly felt like she was “home” and being cared for by extended family.

David and Emily both went out of their way even when they weren't working to take her medications and to follow up with her. Their level of care and true compassion for their work and the residents is very rare and extremely appreciated. Before helping her to move there from Florida, we researched several Raleigh sites, selecting Abottswood for excellent facilities and activities, and even better staff. Linda Chiles: feel comfortable with her taking a taxi. Now she does not have to. I also recently moved her from an upstairs apartment to downstairs with a patio. I find she is getting outside more, going to more classes and events, and going on more field trips. She can go shopping, to the grocery store, and on "joy rides", all provided by Abbotswood. scott gorman: I worked at this establishment but left for medical reasons. While I worked there, not one time did I observe a resident being neglected or improperly handled. Christine, the owner went out of her way to make sure things were taken care of professionally. I really miss that place and would go back to work there in a heartbeat...who knows, one day the right situation may arise. I recommend anyone with special needs for memory care, stay here, they specialize in this field. It's very clean, it's well run, the staff have a passion to help those in need.

Starting from March when we was locked down and didnt know what this Corona virus was going to do to us having cases in the building and now coming close to the end of this mess and the staff working long hours and pitching in on their days off. Racquel Perkins: Attempted to have my family member placed here. After several contacts with the marketing director, not one call back, email confirmation, or anything. Not very professional or business oriented. Communication was very poor. It may have been a blessing in disguise however, based on these prior negative reviews of this place. sara smith: Absolutely horrible and disgusting. Would never send any family or friends there. Had the worst experience working there for a few weeks an had to quit due to the rasist nasty greedy thug employees on the 2nd floor especially. They'd constantly yell at the elderly people living there instead of walking over and explaining what they needed to do. If residents deficated on themselves an the floor they refused to clean it an waited 7 hours later for cleaning crew to arrive! Infuriating! Alot of the people wernt being taken care of and it reeked in there. And the kitchen staff reported many times of the nurses eating/fighting over the residents foods before they even ate. I have so many stories and feel horrible for the residents. Do your research before you send your loved ones to these facilities!
James Frank: My sister has been at The Covington for nearly a year. In that time, she has been abused by staff and left with bruises and trauma, been bullied by other residences to the point that she could not attend meals due to fear, the fire alarm goes off frequently with no notice to residents to calm their fears, they have refused to supply valid invoices, procedure policies, and provide contract for residents. Hundreds of dollars have been stolen from her room. We have had to put a camera in her room for her protection and the staff doesn't even care that they are being caught mistreating residents. Administration has failed in just about every way to provide daily care. The NC state has done numerous investigations to no avail. The Covington is only for those who want their relatives stuck in a warehouse and drugged into oblivion.
Rosemary Huffman: My mother has been at the Covington since last September. It has been a wonderful experience. She is on the Memory Unit and is doing great. The Doctors On Call group have been so attentive to her needs and call me any time they visit her with an update. They have a rehab unit and are working with mom regarding her posture and balance issues.We are so blessed to have found the Covington. The staff have been wonderful to her and our family. Prior to finding The Covington, mom was at two other facilities in another county. Both "kicked" her out due to her roaming into other resident's rooms and getting into their belongings. Those facilities just weren't equiped and/or trained to deal with residents like my mother.
