Ritu Prasad: Would like to preface this review by saying we've been longtime fans of Saint Jacques, back to when Lil was here years ago. It's been our go-to celebration spot for birthdays, graduations, etc. My family recently moved back to the area and we were excited to return. The restaurant now is certainly different from the original Saint Jacques we remember.First, though: Our waitress was great, very kind and helpful and made our experience more enjoyable.The ambiance and overall quality, however, has declined. The food was fine, but lacked the real French taste and finesse of before, and seemed much more Americanized in taste and portion. It wasn't awful, but it was not the same quality as before. The dessert was good, though.We also noticed the floors and bathrooms were not very clean, and the atmosphere is different and not as formal -- patrons in shorts, sneakers and sweatshirts would not have been the case in the past.All in all, we felt it lacked the European refinement and service we had loved before. It's fine if you approach it as a more casual American-French dining option, but as we were hoping for and expecting Saint Jacques to still be a more authentic French restaurant and a fine dining place to celebrate, we're not inclined to return.Platos vegetarianos: Only one option.

Stephanie Rockwell: Very pleased with this restaurant. It was our first time dining and the staff was very friendly. It has a refined but comfortable atmosphere. The food was delicious, especially the lobster bisque, which was a special they were serving and I could have eaten several bowls, and the creme brulee.

Rick Long: The food and service was excellent! My only issue was that we were seated by a closed door, had there was cold winter air pouring in all around the door. It was so cold that I had to go get a jacket (and I don't get cold easy). For this meal price, I expect everything to be perfect.

Chef Chrissie Lapidow: Wow. Just WOW!!! From the moment we walked in and was greeted by Maddie’s smile, we knew we were in for a treat! Everything we ordered was exceptional - from the Chef Board and Onion Soup, to our dinners of beef tenderloin and rack of lamb, it was AMAZING. Not the experience we were expecting from a strip mall restaurant, but thoroughly impressed. Fantastic service from Maddie as well. Highly recommend!

Entrées ordered was the pasta with mushrooms and pork, both incredible. What was the let down after the mouthwatering meal was the dessert. My friend really liked her Peanut Butter tart, I tried it, I wish it was sweeter. The panna cotta itself was AMAZING, but the bourbon cherry sauce ruined it (different tastes). Ultimately would recommend, but maybe not desserts.
Harun Zembilci: At first, I was a little leary about a place called Death and Taxes, and we did not get to find out why until our wonderful hostess took us down in the basement for a tour. I am not going to tell you so you have to go there and find out for yourself. As for the place, everything we ordered was excellent. The cocktails, the food, the deserts and the vine. Speaking of wine, Kudos to Cat (our hostess) and Cat Robinson, the sommelier turned service manager for their knowledge of wines. I saw some wines in the cellar that I would be hard pressed to find in the cellar of well known restaurants in New York. I would definitely recommend anybody in Raleigh area to stop by for dinner and make sure you get Cat to be your hostess.
BB: You must try the dry-aged Long Island Strip, embered sweetpotato, beef fat butter, caper-pink peppercorn chimichurri. The best I ever had, so flavorful. Everything was great from the drinks, my appetizer (crispy new potatoes, aged beef fat, fines herbs), to the main course and tea. It was worth it. I had one of the best bartender/server whom name is Alex. He provided great customer services, polite, good conversation, he makes wonderful recommendations for drinks and food, he knows his flavors and the ingredients. The atmosphere is wonderful. The other bartender and staff were also polite and helpful as well. I will definitely be back!!!

Sadly, it was some of the worst food I had ever eaten and I eat out often!There are only 4 entrees on the menu and we each ordered one to share. The only entree that was somewhat good was the pork dish. My chicken was dry and all dark meat and the salmon was a small piece covered in greens! I don’t know how they remain open and the prices are outrageous for what you get!!!

michael f.: Will never eat here again...we're strong believers in supporting our community businesses, and we live within walking distance to Mandolin, but their service has simply become terrible. Most recently they accepted our to-go order, but when I arrived to pick up the food, I found out that they are closed for Sunday dinner. Nothing to that effect on their website (which DID take our order earlier that same day), no courtesy call from the manager or host...just me left hanging with my guests on a Sunday evening. Just unacceptable to treat customers that way and still expect them to support your business. Plenty of other places in Raleigh to choose from.
