David Botts: I want to take a moment to share how this spa took what was a day we were looking forward to and turned it in the exact opposite.I'm also going to start this out by saying, It was my fault that I wrote down the wrong time for our appointment. So, I played a role in this. But if you want to understand how this spa handles misunderstandings with customers who have been there before, read on.I received a call at 3:15 PM from a young lady who said, "Should we still expect to see you today?" Surprised, I paused and said, "Of course, 5:00, we're still planning on being there." she followed that by saying, "I'm sorry, we were expecting you at 3:00." She put me on hold, while she took a minute to see if there had been a scheduling error. When she came back, she apologized and said that due to the misunderstanding she went ahead and looked at two other dates July 5th, and July 12th, for us to reschedule. We were pretty upset at the time, and driving, and decided we would call back to reschedule.Of importance, I also told her we could come right now. She said, we would only get about 45 min of the treatment, but she would rather schedule us for the whole treatment. Not to worry.Around 4:45, the same day, the spa called us back to inform us they were going to charge the full amount of the visit, $304, to the card on file. Further, that the Director and Owner of the spa had said "Go back, and listen to the call recording, to see whose fault it was."Apparently, it was my fault and I learned this at this point. This was a rescheduled appointment, from a previous 5:00 appointment, but I took it down incorrectly and thought we had held the same time.I completely understand making mistakes, and I own that. But the way this Spa handles it should be known.Foremost;1. They gave me the option to rebook on the first call. If I had rebooked my time on the phone with them earlier, there's a good chance none of this would have happened. But because I did not, clearly, that upset the owners. Rebooking was not an option when they called me at 4:45, telling me I was responsible for the full balance today.2. They took the time to go back and listen to a phone conversation recording weeks ago but didn't take the time to listen to the call that day, and listen to see if it sounded like there was a legitimate misunderstanding. They didn't care about the misunderstand, or that we were equally as upset about not enjoying a couples massage. They cared about money.3. You will be charged 100%. Because we missed the appointment, we paid $304 for nothing. Nothing at all. No $50, $35, 10%, 20%, or fee to cover a mistake. No pro-rated fee like most offices. Full Price.So, be aware if you go to this spa that there is no grace from the owner of this location. No compassion for a mistake. Charging the full fee is more important.As many of you reading this will know, when you have a hard week and you are looking forward to an experience like this, confronting someone with no compassion for their customers is quite unimpressive.**update: Pay close attention to the owners response. They listened to the booking call but not the call the day of the appointment. The owner doesn’t want to acknowledge that her staff told me not to come in, even though I could have had part of my appointment. Instead they told me not to worry, and offered two reschedule dates**

Thanks to the staff for allowing us to have a double session. The results were not the same just reclining in the room. I usually blow my nose for hours after completion of a session and this double session did not make that happen. Plus, COVID has not disappeared, there were seven (7) of us in the room. After the session was underway, one person left the room and did not return. We did not find the music to be calming, it was too upbeat and it was too loud. We requested the volume to be lowered and it was. I have several suggestions: Have complimentary water or let the customers know they should drink water after the session.Change the music for a more relaxing atmosphere.Thank You!

Lauren Handsel: I was really excited to try this place, but ultimately left feeling a little disappointed. As others have pointed out, the space feels very sterile and unwelcoming. My massage therapist also seemed frustrated and angry with me during my session. I spent most of the hour worrying I had done something to offend her rather than relaxing and enjoying myself. I ultimately left a 20% tip out of guilt but now I wish I hadn’t. If you want a relaxing, spa-like experience, this isn’t it.

B M: This might be a good place for a first-time massage. If you are an experienced LMT, or someone who has had massages from average-to-high caliber therapists, you will probably find this place very lacking. Aside from the very sterile feel to the waiting area, and the unfriendly receptionists, there is no essence of relaxation or calming energy anywhere in this place. It is a "chop-shop" to the bone. The 8 LMTs I saw there were okay-ish to terrible. The LMTs seem to also bring a "chop shop" kind of mentality: they don't seem to understand things like eye covers, neck pillows, how to actually use aromatherapy or what it is, how to create a peaceful atmosphere, how to NOT TALK DURING A SESSION, how to work muscles from origin to insertion, what deep tissue is, how to listen to and follow client requests, that you need to have your music working (and not have it cut out constantly), that you are prepared and competent, etc, etc. Honestly, I kept thinking I wasn't choosing "the right therapist" and somehow wasn't getting the ones everyone is raving about. I have even waited a MONTH+ to get sessions with specific people who were 'their best' and it was all subpar. Not a single therapist there really seems to have "it." They would be better suited working at dental offices or at a computer. I did massage for 14 years and in 3 different states, and if this is the best Raleigh has to offer, then the standard is radically inferior to everywhere else we've lived. I honestly can't think of 1 redeeming quality. I tried to like this place. I figured there was something I'm missing. The only thing I'm missing is a good massage, because this place isn't it. Oh, wait, there is 1 thing great: the estheticians. The best massage we had there was from them. The most relaxing time was from them. Props to the estheticians.

I feel like family at White Dahlia, and I have since day one. While I absolutely wish the facilities had more of a "spa feel" with robes, relaxation rooms, etc., I'll never go elsewhere because I love everyone who works there so much. The way a spa impacts you is so much more than how your body feels coming out of a massage.

I was a bit hesitant considering needles aren’t my favorite thing, but Alisa made the entire process comforting for me. She walked me through the entire procedure and took her time while assuring I was comfortable. I did not feel any pain nor discomfort and I didn’t even use numbing cream. We all know stuff happens, and what's most important to me is that it gets adequately addressed, which it was in this case. Therefore, in light of this new information, I added a star.I went to Blue Water Spa this past Thursday 1/26/23 to get the HydraBliss (supposed to be a one hour appointment) and Lymphatic (supposed to add 15 mins onto HydraBliss) facials. I did have a nice experience, and the staff and office were very nice and clean, respectively; and, as far as service and cleanliness goes, they get an A+.However, the following is the reason I gave three stars - I would also like to state that I did not attempt to contact them about this as I am not looking for any type of refund, or anything like that, I just wish what was supposed to happen, happened.-My appointment was scheduled for 2:45pm, and I arrived early(about 2:20pm) to complete the new patient paperwork.-At 2:50, the person who did my facial came and got me and tookme back to the room. She took a few mins to explain somethings, and then gave me around 5 mins to undress and getsituated.-Facial started about 3:00pm - I enjoyed everything, and it wasvery nice and relaxing; and my person was very nice.-After everything was done, my person left the room, I gotdressed, and I met her up at the place where you pay.-I looked at my e-receipt when I got home, and it was sent to me at 3:56pm.-Since I was taken back at 2:50, the HydraBliss facial should havetaken me to 3:50pm, and the lymphatic facial should have takenme 4:05pm, which means I should have still been laying on theplinth, not already in my car driving back home.-So, I paid $299 for the HydraBliss that is supposed to take 60mins, and I paid $25 for the Lymphatic that is supposed totake/add on 15 mins (TOTAL 75 mins for just the facials), butthe TOTAL time spent from the second my person took meback to when I received my e-receipt was 56 mins.-I estimated that about 10 mins (maybe 7) was spent walking back to room, having a quick chat with my person, and getting getting undressed and laying down, getting dressed again, and then paying.-This means my TWO facials were no longer than 49 mins, therefore, I paid $344 (not including tax/tip) for 49 mins or less of service (most likely less since I had already paid).Needless to say, I will not be going back here anytime soon as the spa services, in my experience, are basically just a scam. Maybe I should have said something at the time, but I didn't, because who wants to be that person...

Mariss: I have been carrying around the weight of the world on my shoulders, neck and feet. I heard about the high praises at this foot spa, and made a last minute appointment for this Easter weekend. I was happy to hear back from the business via text offering to accommodate me. Lauren was kind and professional. I decided on the Girly Spa Package Deluxe. My service started with an ionic detox in a private room with a reclining chair. The detox therapy uses negative ions to cleanse the body of toxins. The ions attach themselves to the toxins and then are flushed out through the feet, which are immersed in a saltwater bath. You are hooked up to the machine and place your feet in a bucket to soak. The bucket was uncomfortable to me. Not so relaxing. There are several quiet signs surrounding the spa, yet the customers continued to have private conversations that I could overhear. I would advise you to bring headphones, if you want to nap or be at peace. The spa is small, so conversations do carry from the foot spa stations and reception desk. The rooms are kept very cold, I would advise you to bring a snuggy or fleece blanket. This made it hard to relax.My feet were dried and wrapped for the keratin skin treatment. I didn’t notice any difference in my feet after this service. The massage was the best part of the service. Betsy gave a through massage with a decent amount of pressure for 60 minutes. This involves shoulders, arms, neck, hands and feet. The hot stone to finish was great because it warmed me up. I feel light as a feather now. The service ended with a spa pedicure. I decided on the peppermint essential oil for my water. Your services are done by separate staff, so keep that in mind. Someone does the pedicure, another person paints your toes. The paint job was thorough and I was happy about that.I was very pleased with the staff here. Everyone was welcoming and kind. Other than the loud noise level and cold temperature, I would return for a massage service.

Reese R: Sadly I wasn’t impressed with this place. It took me a long time to come there and pay over $60 for a pedi, but the reviews were so good, so I gave it a shot. First you start with “reflexology” which was a nice man aggressively rubbing your legs from the knee down and feet, which actually hurt. Not reflexology. Then I was moved to a lady who did the rest of the pedi, but didn’t even cover my nails with the polish. Parts of several toes were missing polish, nails weren’t filed straight, and left polish on my skin. I was disappointed with the quality and will not be back sadly.

C Williams: Vilma is terrible. The pedicure was rushed & not enjoyable at all, I didn’t even get a chance to relax. This is the 3rd time she’s done a horrible job on polishing my toes and someone else had to fix, so I finally asked for her name so I can request to NOT get her the next time. She trimmed my toenails and then asked afterwards if she’d trimmed them too short, as if there was something she could have done after the fact. The spa itself is nice, but she is consistently awful.

I love how I was able to make an appointment on their website….talking on the phone is not really my favorite. I made an appointment for the “signature pedicure” two weeks ago so it totally slipped my mind what I signed myself up for. It really was a relaxing experience. The atmosphere wasn’t loud at all, and the leg massage was the Cherry on top. I never know when my toe polish is dry so I always smug it without fail.There were two women that stopped while I was under the dryer to check to see if my toes were dry, it’s always the little things for me! During my massage I had the option both my hands and legs but chose just the legs! I loved that this spa was for pedicures only and will definitely make this spa part of my self care treat routine!

I’ve never had any of these services done nor have I been to this establishment before. I went in with no expectations and little to no questions , definitely my mistake. I got there, the ambience was on point! The music, the way I was greeted, the oil diffusers, all of it tied in together so well. I had my massage first. Absolutely NO complaints, Kelly did amazing! Then I got to my facial and everything went so quickly I can’t even tell you how we got from the standard facial to a chemical peel. There were so many steps I couldn’t tell what was what. I had no idea this process would be as painful and restrictive as it is. I should’ve spoken up but I was left in the room for 15-20 minutes alone in between each step. I always find it hard to be rude to someone in the service industry. I am more displeased with myself but definitely displeased with the facial because I apparently allowed myself to be talked into a wayyyy more expensive experience that requires wayyyy more maintenance. I can’t be in the sun, there is a whole process I have to go through to wash my face AND my skin is peeling. I’ve had to go to work all week like this. Now I respect that this is a place of business but as a first time client that knew nothing before arriving I feel a chemical peel was highly unnecessary. I had maybe 3 bumps on my face and some dark spots. That’s it. Also, probably partially my fault as well, I had something to do that afternoon. I booked my appointment at 10am, thinking I’d be gone by 1p, no later, since the services combined were only 2 1/2 hours. I was wrong again. I had to leave without the door detox. I feel if I’d gotten the standard facial I thought I was getting, there would’ve been time for it. I was also charged for all this, of course. So expensive! I paid half at booking only thinking I’d have to pay the other have and it really put a damper on my funds for the day. She THEN made 2 additional appointments. She was going to do that foot detox at a later appointment but I’m not interested. I have since cancelled them both. I just wanted a regular day at the spa but I think I’ll stick to doing spa days at home. This 4 star rating is solely for the massage.
