UNCW’s Watson College introduced a doctoral program in Educational Leadership in 2007. Now, more than 150 Ed.D. alumni are making an impact in leadership roles across the state and the nation. Caitlin Ryan, associate professor of language and literacy at the Watson College, has received the 2023 Outstanding Elementary Educator in the English Language Arts Award from the National Council of Teachers of English. She was recognized alongside her long-time collaborator, Dr. Jill Hermann-Wilmarth, professor of social foundations at Western Michigan University. Jeff Ertzberger, a faculty member and director of technology in the Watson College of Education, is the recipient of the 2022 Robert E. Tyndall Service Award. The award is presented every two years to a non-tenure-track WCE employee in recognition of dedication to teaching, commitment to the college, ability to work well with all constituents and the capacity to lead his or her area in a new direction. The ranking for best online degrees in Educational Technology is based on factors including affordability, student/faculty ratio and the accessibility of student and career support services. Dean Burrus Selected in Cohort by The University of North Carolina System

We're thrilled to share that The University of North Carolina System has selected Cameron School of Business Dean, Dr. Robert Burrus, to join a cohort in their Executive Leadership Institute.

The UNC Executive Leadership Institute prepares and develops future leaders identified within the UNC System. The program’s overall purpose is to increase the ability of talented employees to move into System-wide senior leadership positions.

UNCW / CSB places 2nd in the country during the College Fed Challenge

November 2022 - The College Fed Challenge was held virtually in 2022. Eighty-four schools from across the country submitted video presentations or participated in local virtual competitions starting on October 6, 2022. Eighteen semi-finalist teams participated in question-and-answer sessions held during the week of November 7. Six finalists were selected, and their presentations and questions and answers were reviewed to determine the winners. In first place was Princeton University. The other national finalists were University of North Carolina Wilmington in second place and Dartmouth College in third place. Teams with honorable mentions include Colgate University, University of Notre Dame, and University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).
