Joshinkan Dojo: what do users think?
Anastasia Makarova: I've been practicing aikido at this dojo for a year now. All the dojo members made me feel comfortable and welcome right away. Senseis are patient and very encouraging, they guide you through the technique and help you build your confidence. Clearly, they put all their heart into teaching. No previous aikido experience is required to take a class. Sensei always adjusts class according to the level of the participants. After one year of practice I feel like not only my aikido improved a lot, but I have become a more calm and self-confident person outside the dojo. These are amazing people to train with and learn from. I recommend this dojo to everyone who is interested in aikido.
Mary Turner: Friendly welcoming people, great instruction, lots of parking!

Vision Martial Arts: what do users think?
Linda Williamson: Great School! I highly recommend Vision Martial Arts at Cary ten-ten. The kids have learned self defense, loyalty and responsibility.
Mike Andino: Amazing. My kids have really grown through this program.
Lisa Card: We have been attending Vision Martial Arts Ten Ten for 5.5 years now, they provide an amazing atmosphere for learning and development. Currently all 3 of my kids attend, my oldest just recieved her 1st degree black belt, middle is in the advanced class and youngest is in tigers. It has been something special to see them all grow into the respectful children they are with the guidance from great instructors. We highly recommend and will be continuing for years to come.
Lydia BesseyTolley: So great especially for exercise And mental health wouldRecommend getting a new belt fells so good sign up now at Cary ten-ten school :)
Keith Brandin: My son has been going here on and off for the last 2 years and recently committed to their leadership program so I signed up with him. I'm a big fan of good coaches and love to see the instructors here use good martial arts instruction to teach life skills like respect, honesty, etc. We both love the classes and go as often as we can.As an example of how they hold to belief and perseverance, I was in a class with my son as the only adult. We were working self defense. The instructor grabbed my uniform and refused to take a light grip because he believed I could break his hold even though it took several attempts to do it. They believe you can do it and encourage you to get there no matter your skill or age.
Bethany Fox: The experience at Vision Martial arts is second to none! We have a child in the Tigers program that is learning self defense, self-esteem and solid basics. The staff is great at creating a positive and constructive environment. My daughter and I also take class together and are part of the Leadership Program with amazing opportunities for personal growth, physical fitness, and mental stretching. There are often workshops with guest teachers from around the country that help solidify the basics and introduce more advanced techniques. Now onto the staff. All of the instructors create a positive environment for learning, use positive reinforcement, and on the occasion it is needed, discipline techniques that are relevant to the situation, focused on creating positive behavior, and always lifts the child up to the expectation. It is easy to see the staff loves what they do. Having been in an environment that was very negative this staff shines like the 5 stars I am giving for a review. For more advanced students there are plenty of opportunities for learning and also opportunities to lead classes with adult instructors. Looking forward to continuing on our family’s black belt journey.
Brittany Chambliss: My child first started Vision Martial Arts 2 years ago and has continuing to have a strong interest. During the past 2 years, she gained a higher level of confidence and leadership. Senior Master Beddow and Mrs. Beddow show dedication to the program, children and families. This program teaches overall personal development and we are overly thankful to have our child in this program.
Michelle DeSantis: My family and I have been a part of the Vision family @Ten Ten Rd for the better part of 10 years. The leadership, the compassion, the knowledge, the community, all reasons we've never left. They make you want to learn and be a better version of yourself. You'd be hard pressed to find a better taekwondo school.
Amy Southerland: The entire staff at Vision is fabulous. Our son has learned so much in a small amount of time. Not only does Vision provide great martial arts training, they also offer family-friendly events like Trunk or Treating, Summer and Winter break camps, Parents Night Out and more. Highly recommend!
Nicole Hanner: My son would live there if he could! Loves it!
Adib Kozlow: Our 8 year old son has gained so much confidence and developed his leadership skills because of the instructors and staff. I wouldn't take him anywhere else.
Brouck McCall: Sr. Master Beddow and his Wife operate a terrific training center with a great variety of martial arts classes. Their style is very structured, nurturing, and full of positive reinforcement. You can see all the students respect and enjoy their time in class. Highly recommend for all ages.
Aslem Muhammed: The staff have really helped my daughter to love taekwondo. They make her so happy.
Sarah Babey: We love Vision Martial Arts! My son is thriving and it's been so good for his confidence and his self discipline. Amazing team.
Brooke McLaughlin: We love VMA! The Beddows and their team of instructors are absolutely amazing! Our girls are thriving in the environment, constantly learning and growing. We are thrilled at how much they learn that extends beyond physical skills of taekwondo - discipline, respect, integrity, communication, and positivity to name a few!
David Cox: Our family has been going for the past four months and we are having a blast. We are learning lots of fun and practical taekwondo techniques, and enjoy watching our kids develop and get excited about it is really awesome. It’s a great learning environment and the instructors are really great.
Travis Amon: I would HIGHLY recommend this organization for anyone! We have our five year old in the Tigers program and he has absolutely blossomed! The instructors are world class and they provide an amazing experience!
Travis Bryant: Vision Martial Arts in Cary is phenomenal school. Not only is it an environment where kids and adults learn Taekwondo, but they also learn skills that they can apply to any aspect of life. The instructors are personable, patient and extremely professional. They provide students any and every opportunity to succeed. This an environment our family has been extremely pleased with and look forward to what the future will bring.
Chelly Pennington: I absolutely love Vision Martial Arts. My daughter started when she was 5 and got her black belt at 9. My son has now started and it’s so fun to see them bond over this. Master Beddow and his staff are sooo good with the kids! I highly recommend!!
Ragavendra Kumar: Great place to send kids to build their confidence level & discipline through martial arts. My 6 yr old son enjoys his Taekwando. Strongly recommend
Alena Garcia: There may be a lot of positive reviews but it didn't work out for me . I have had ten times better Martial arts classes for my toddlers. I just wasn't feeling it . The energy wasn't there. The lack of welcome from the actual teachers wasn't energetic. They barely had a response when I entered. The teaching was okay and that's about it . I will give credit to the actual teacher that signed us up . I personally do not recommend or like this center . If you miss your day for any reason , you can't make it up. Pay and go to every class or pay and miss your classes (no refund or make up class).

Johnson's Martial Arts of Cary: what do users think?
Praveen Kumar Narayanadas: Very excellent school
Brandon Butts: Instructor has over 25 years of mixed martial arts of experience. Internationally known.
Raed Hassan: Great place for kids to increase self confidence and learn life skills
Steve C: Great place to practice Martial Arts and great instructors. I will recommend to anybody who want to learn Martial Arts.
Krystal Lunsford: You have many options in our area for martial arts, but at Johnsons my daughter has learned so much more. At Johnson's you learn Taekwondo (it is not a belt factory, you learn and put in the work) but they do so much more. Our daughter was speech delayed (almost 7 before she would speak voluntarily) and delayed with all the things that come with this challenge. She lacked confidence, initiative and all the other things that come with being different at her age. She has grown in so many ways. She has found a home with the Johnson's family and loves learning new techniques and forms. She has found a strength I could not have taught her at home both physically and mentally. They teach the importance of respect, responsibility, confidence, and kindness. I love the fact she has grown in so many ways and has found her confidence with her new skills. She definitely no longer lacks confidence or initiative.
Sonal Shah: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMr and Mrs Johnson and all their staff are great teachers and role models for our kids. The positive learning environment at the studio has impassioned my son to practice Taekwondo with the Johnson’s for nearly 10 years. Their efforts to inspire young students go a long way.
Jennifer Kinsler: My son has improved on his ability to stand still and listen and enjoys the structure of the class. The JMA competition was so cool and so much fun for us to watch and him to participate in. My husband and I are glad we enrolled our son.
fawzia salahuddin: Johnson’s Martial Arts is our children’s favorite place to be, like most of the kids coming here.We love the staff’s professional positive attitude with the students giving them the confidence they need to be successful in various aspects in life.I looked into various other places but found Johnson’s very family orientated, spending time with the students with very high expectations from the students.I highly recommend it to the families!Great job!Fawzia Salahuddin, MD, MHS-CL.
Jessica Phelps: I absolutely love the leadership of each teacher at JMA. My 7-year-old boy is challenged and empowered by the curriculum and learns valuable lessons through the tenets taught. Would definitely recommend!
Rama Annisetty: Positive:Professionalism,Quality
Arjun Chinta: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI am sending my kid since 5 years and it's been very effective and gave lot of discipline. The staff is very kind and co-operative. Glad to be part of this.
Jalice M: my children love learning here.
Steve B: Even in the early days of the pandemic, the JMA team kept classes going with many virtual options. The staff really cares about each student and spends whatever time is required to help them move forward. We are so glad we chose JMA for our kids. We highly recommend JMA.
janna harris: This is a great place to send your kids! They truly care about your child and teaching them values and TKD. The Johnson's are always available and respond. The teachers are great! The difference in 1 year of my child with discipline & paying attention is vast, and most of that was during COVID with on-line training! They did so much with keeping kids involved when we were all stuck at home and did so many things with on-line classes and continuing the kids training.Do not hesitate to send your kids here!
Suchi V: Positive:ValueIn life we need hard work, honestly and talent but at the same time we need people around to teach values it guides you when we are in low and high in life. JMA have such kind of people in my observation. Thank you JMA🙏
Sonali Dash: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat school where teachers actually care for the kids and teach them tenets of taekwondo that will help them throughout life. We are grateful to Mrs and Mr Johnson for having this school and having it open during the very difficult last year. Thanks you!
Diana Ivins: When our son Thomas first started in tiger cubs at Johnson's martial arts he did not like school in the least. He would wake up each morning and ask if it was a Taekwondo day. His excitement or disappointment at the answer to his question was all I needed to know. Taking classes at JMA wasand is very important to him. Now in 2nd grade his grades could not be any higher, but Taekwondo is still more important to him than school.
Sreedhar Gudur: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueDefinitely recommend to send your kids hear. I am sending all 3 kids and they are showing much interested. I like their skills and methodology of teaching the kids and motivating them. I did send my elder son to multiple places when he was boy and after coming here never looked up other in last 2 years.
Arianny Jimenez: We absolutely love Johnson's! My child is rather shy and I really appreciate how patient the staff has been with her. Lately, she's been a lot more talkative, disciplined, and really looks forward to her classes more and more. Thank you so much!
Neelu Pandey: I can’t believe it has been a decade long journey for us to see our 2 boys grow up with JMA. Mrs and Mr Johnson are great role models for their students, providing not only the martial arts training but also encouraging and involving their students to give back to community. This is absolutely a great place to train and learn values that stay with you for life.
Namrata Desai: We truly love JMA and all the teachers. The entire team has a great attitude and give personalized attention to the kids. We also love the flexibility of different locations!

Aikido of Raleigh: what do users think?
Gloria Tovar-Torres: This is my first experience learning self defense classes. Both instructors and students in this dojo are very kind. I feel like in familly. The instructors have a lot of patience and thus the most enjoyable and effective learning. A great advantage is that the class starts at 7:30 pm which gives us more time to arrive from our jobs. Thanks Aikido of Raleigh, thanks Robbie and Daniel.
D Sanders: I originally came to train karate at the dojo. The karate sensei convinced me to try aikido there shortly afterwards. It was one of the best decisions I've made. The family atmosphere made it a perfect fit for me from the beginning. The instruction is of high quality, and all of the instructors are patient with the development of their students. I would highly recommend any individual and/or family to come try a class or two!

Carolina Kokikai Aikido: what do users think?
Sabrina Burmeister: My kids and I have been practicing with this dojo for about 2 years. It has been a great experience from the start. With a focus on posture, core body strength, and flexibility, the practice is a great way to increase strength and body awareness while having fun. One aspect I particularly like is the emphasis on individual progress and the integration of students from all levels which teaches us to be responsive to our practicing partners, adding to the overall emphasis on awareness. Eric Horlbeck Sensei has high standards but is patient. Here's what my daughter has to say:Forget the movies. Forget even fighting. Set your mind to the reality of starting from the beginning and focusing on all aspects: balance, Ki, posture, focus, mind, body, etc. Feeling your feet on the ground that's actually there. Sensei, Eric, teaches us all points, using one's core, malleability, sensation, practicing weapons, posture and feeling tall especially and loads and loads more. We'll start with a warmup, really starting with our bows and we'll build on that, sometimes the whole practice. But then usually we'll pair up, and we'll get to fight with students of all different levels, so we can dial into their level. Because, you see, one of the goals of Aikido is to not injure and go ha, ha, ha, but to make whoever your opponent is learn. Another goal or point is to use your opponent’s strength as your attack. You might not believe this, but we come to Aikido to learn how to avoid fights also, but if we get in them, be safe and prepared. We'll practice even points of focus, stretches, and how not to get distracted, and slowly you'll level up with the color of belt you wear on your waist. But don't focus on belts or levels, focus on what you need to work on and how you can get better. Come to learn how to battle but also how to live your life being focused and having good posture even in front of your computer and so, so much more.
Duncan Shaw: After dabbling in several martial arts over the years, I finally came back to aikido because I didn't want to be a journeyman any longer. I was looking for a life-long practice regardless of changes to age or physical ability. My very first lesson was fun--challenging, but most importantly fun, and safe. And now after three+ years, I highly recommend Carolina Kokikai aikido to anyone who is interested in learning self-defense, having increased self-awareness, improving mobility and flexibility, and gaining increased confidence in all aspects of life. On the fence? Give it a try...It is inclusive of all ability levels, SAFE, and effective! Aikido will also help other sports or fitness activities that you may do because your balance, posture, movement and awareness will vastly improve.
Kevin Phillips: Had a background in martial arts already (especially Karate) upon meeting senior instructor Eric HorlbeckI was impressed with how strong his "natural stance" was (notably, that despite trying, I couldn't push him over or make him lose his balance)At Carolina Kokikai Aikido, a very deep and deceptively powerful self defense art is taught -- something that, in many ways, doesn't look like much, but is very much real, and very much powerful (and gentle at that) The training is safer in my experience too -- I've had some minor injuries practicing Karate, and broken my ankle doing Judo... I've trained for seven years here, and no significant injuries come to mind. I would recommend catching a class to anyone with significant curiosity... despite the art appearing simple, (and in many ways it is simple) its a rewarding personal journey with more to it than meets the eye.
