Fintastic Aquariums of Wake County Inc: what do users think?
Carolina Shore Fishing: Favorite shop in the triangle area! Best prices, selection, and knowledge. Fintastic is always looking out!
Roger Vargas: Awesome place! They really know about saltwater aquarium.
Chrissy The Weeb: Awesome!
Jacob Butler: I told them I recently setup a 20 gallon water box. They questioned me on if my water parameters were correct, I didn’t know the correct numbers I go by the colors on the API reef masters test kit chart. They treated me I like I didn’t know what I was doing it was very belittling. I ended up going to the fish room and was treated very well and bought what I needed and a fish. I went home and retested my water parameters and everything was just fine as I knew they were. I wasted an hour driving to fantastic aquariums I will never step foot in that shop again.
Wise Old Traveling Mouse: The title is not misleading. This place is FINTASTIC! Great fish and nice employees 10/10 on the mouse scale
Ryan Moss: Great store with great expertise along with a a wide selection. Would recommend !
Laura Nelson: Nice selection of salt water fish and supplies but nothing for fresh water aquariums, so I kinda feel like it should be called “Salt Water Aquariums” not “Fintastic Aquariums”
Amit Hore: Decent price , good saltwater live stock
Lillyxdraw z: I have been going to this store for a very long time and always noticed it was quite sketchy, but they had a few good items to purchase. I continued going here like normal and had picked up a few sketchy interactions with one of the staff. I thought this was an “ok” go to fish store until a recent experience I had. I was interested in buying a sand sifting starfish however they only had 1 left in stock. One of workers checked it out and we both agreed it wasn’t looking too great to buy . Another staff member took the starfish completely OUT of the water to it to air which can kill a starfish that small. Exposing a starfish to air any amount of time can trap air bubbles in the starfish which can kill it. She then proceeded to say it was fine to buy this starfish. I obviously did not buy this starfish. I think you guys have a great selection but please be careful with delicate animals like starfish.
garsons grams: Horrible experience talked down on customers. Wouldn’t come back with the lack of respect they have for the people that come into their establishment. Their saltwater fish selection was fair, but definitely saw some that looked sick. Recommend other local aquarium shops in the area that have far better customer service and way better fish selection that look healthy.
Thomas Belt: The only salt water shops with 1.) Excellent fish selection 2.) Corals and 3.) The owner who is knowledgeable about the hobby. Takes the time to know his customer and makes recommendations for your tank.
Jerry Li: I've been shopping at this store recently and it's been great. They have an excellent selection of fish and corals and the staff are very kind and helpful.EDIT: In my original review, I had thought the store treated their sell tanks with sub-therapeutic levels of copper, given the swift demise of a Flame Angel I bought from them. After calling the store for clarification, I learned that they only use copper whenever an issue is detected. However their sell tanks DO fluctuate salinity. The Flame angel's sell tank had a salinity of 1.015 gravity, whereas I keep my tank at 1.025. That's a quite large difference and the poor Flame just could not deal with my 45 minute acclimation.I realize it was my fault for not asking about the salinity/parameters of the sell tank. I had assumed it was in a common range of 1.020-1.026. That being said, I feel like the Fintastic should've warned me that the sell tank had a current salinity well out of normal range. However, after speaking with the owner, they offered a heavily discounted price of any new fish. Even though I might not take up the offer soon (since my current display tank is full), I appreciated the apologetic sentiments and the effort to make things right. And this is in-line with my other positive experiences with the store. Therefore, I'm amending my review to five stars. Not everything goes perfectly but the response is what matters the most.
Brian Miller: David and his team did a great job moving a 100 gallon established reef tank to my home. They worked for 12+ hours to make sure everything was up and running before leaving for the night, and gave me their cell numbers in case any problems came up. Tank looks great less than 12 hours later. They obviously care about the animals and spent a lot of effort to protect my home as well. I will be shopping there for my livestock moving forward. Highly recommend!
Gwen Brown: Only salt water fish, which is ok, but not specified on their site. Also extremely expensive!
Jacob Hambright: Wonderful staff. One of the employees, Luke, was very helpful and seemed to be tending to everyone's needs while keeping the shop in order simultaneously!I was feeling anything but 'salty' when I left!
Roc Bowers: Love these guys. Extremely knowledgeable and sell quality fish and corals at a great prices.
Lanee Glass: Love the staff there! The fish are always healthy.
Isaac Granick: They give honest advice and have helped my wife set up her first saltwater tank. They are a great source of information, supplies and new residents for your tank! Highly recommend!
Michelle Lee: So unwelcoming atmosphere I do not know whether this is call the act of hatred or discrimination but the staffs are often lying to me about the prices few times higher than usual to either stop you from buying or buying with a extraordinary high price. They never have the price tags displayed on. I guess they will name theirs pricse after their feelingBe aware!!!!!!
Sheree Cameron: They have good prices, good selection and healthy saltwater fish and coral.. No freshwater fish. They have always been happy to answer all my question and give great advice.
James Daniels: I went there today (based on a reference), and there were decent prices but their tanks were pretty underwhelming... Couple little niceties, but didn't see anything worth buying. There were also some people standing outside (including employees) one of which had really dead face and bad vibes and was open carrying a fire arm. Not really what i want to be around at the fish store.Edit: I have to make a fair shake at this store and say that the subsequent visit or two was actually pretty nice. They have since gotten a better looking stock and they have not had the loitering they had previously. I have not purchased fish or coral only shelf products.

Fish Room: what do users think?
William Bradley: I've been coming here for 5+ years. They have a selection that is far greater than your local chain pet store. I recently went back in June of 2023 and it was great. Prices were affordable for the variety of fish offered. I keep freshwater and saltwater fish in several tanks and can tell you that 95% of the people looking to stock a tank from beginner to advanced will find the fish offered here at some point. I purchased a dozen fish and all are happy and thriving two weeks later.(6/23/23 edit: Spoke too soon. Ich in my tank. I only deal with individuals and haven't had an ich problem in years. The only introduction could have been from the fish room purchase. Fool me for at least the 5th time in a row. Edited a 4 star review down to 2.)That being said, I stopped going here for a few years because it was always sick fish, dead fish in tanks, or ich on the fish in the store (the tanks are plumbed together so it can spread throughout the system easier). I was burned a few times in a row and just stayed away and found other people/places to get fish. The older reviews were justified, but I think something has changed.(6/23/23 edit: It hasn't changed. Purchase fish at your own risk.)I noticed there weren't any live plants in any of the fish tanks, so the store might be treating all the water to prevent disease. The shop is on the smaller side and I doubt they have the space to quarantine fish from the wholesaler. If you can't quarantine, it's a good plan to prophylactically treat your system to stop disease from taking hold (edit: In my case a bottle of api super ich cure $17 was about 1/2 the price I paid for the fish. Again, consider this treatment cost when buying fish here)I read the reviews with complaints about customer service. I personally like being left alone to observe the fish and you should spend some time doing this. Mike approached me after 15 minutes in the store asking if I had any questions and I told him which fish I wanted. He didn't pressure me or hover, which I appreciate. I've never had an issue before finding someone to net fish.
J: Got koi fish for 10$
Caitlin Booth: Amazing experience here. Very helpful staff, willing and able to answer complicated or simple questions, it can be crowded but they always are willing to help so the wait isn’t that long. There’s a good selection of fish and they’re willing to trade out if something doesn’t work out in your tank and will give you store credit. It feels like they are there for the customers experience rather then strictly for money. Highly recommend.
Wolf: Lovely fish shop. Learned so much from staff and the selection is the best in the area.
Joey Harward: Very knowledgeable about fish and supplies. Come here for all the answers.
Ross Runion: Great healthy fish and plants very nice.
Traci Burch: The owner is friendly and the store is nice and organized. Beautiful display tanks and a good selection of everything in stock. This is one of 2 stores I’ve found in all the ones I’ve visited in NC and VA that truly has “live rock”! The store in VA charged 3x the amount. You can see it cycling in the store. He also has coral colonies in addition to frags. Every time I go in, I find something new. He has good prices and I love stopping in and visiting when I’m in the area. He stays busy. He isn’t a person that hovers over you the whole time you’re in there, but is someone that will answer any questions and is very knowledgeable. Today while in the store I watched him help several customers. Bagging fish, weighing rocks, selling water that is mixed at the store, helping others select products they need, and even testing a lady’s water. I’ve read in prior posts that he just stood behind counter and didn’t speak. Not sure where people get that. He has never chased me down like a car salesman, but always positive and friendly. I’ve bought saltwater fish, inverts, corals, and a clam. Everything I’ve purchased is healthy and has been living for months now. Look forward to going my next trip to Cary. Thanks Mike!
Larry C.: Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Celia Quintana: We walked in and didn’t get greeted . Every other person that walked in the door besides my family and I got greeted . We waited 15 minutes to see if anybody was gonna approach us and help us but we got ignored . The guy working there literally stared at us & completely avoided our existence. I got treated better at a petco by a 16 year old than a grown man .
Eagle Mountain: Mike is very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions. There were several tanks of freshwater and saltwater fish. They were all clean and super clear! Viewing all of the exotic fish and coral etc. was in itself worth the visit.
Jon C: Place is ok. Not much selection for freshwater but it is a small space. Seems to have a frequent ick problem at the Wake Forest location. Some tanks there look dreadful at times.
Devon B: Helpful and friendly staff. Lots of great healthy looking fish.
Julio Ramos: They get just get it. Cleanliness, organization, customer service! Everyone here is super cool and always on the up and up.
Ryan Moss: These guys are great! Very knowledgeable and always have unique critters stocked.
Warren: Got a few fish from one of their tanks and they brought Ich to my tank. I guess it happens. They have too many fish crowded in most tanks. They had many common breeds of freshwater fish but not much in fancier species. They have lots of salt water tanks.
Melvia Anthony: I love this play this is my number one fish store
frank lovash: Nice prices on there fish
Micheline White: Picked up a blue crayfish today from Fish Room. Don't know if it is a boy or girl, so we named it lady blue. The staff was very patient and helpful. Even though they were packed. I highly recommend buying your fish and supplies here.
Hamza Khan: They have great customer service. Also great collection of saltwater fish food and supplies.
Mike and Valerie Stephens: Wider selection of fish than many places and good prices on the larger fish. On the negative side about a third of their tanks were shut down so not sure what is going on with that.
Anthony Mcmillan: The store is nice and neat I brought my family 2kids an my wife to get accessories and more fish not a word was spoken to us as if we were not welcome in the store reassured that thought when I approached him about what we were looking for! We left and didn’t make a purchase such a shame everything looked wonderful but I will not spend my hard earned money when we can’t be greeted an treated like paying customers we didn’t come for anything free an were the only customers in the store my son was so disappointed we had to leave after displaying so much excitement upon entering the store

Clearwater Aquarium Services: what do users think?
Triangle Entertainment Agency: Good luck getting these guys on the phone! After 5 weeks of leaving messages, I reached out to another company who actually picked the phone up and scheduled an appointment. This is not the only aquarium service company in Raleigh. Shop around.
Roberta M.: Great prices. Better than big box stores.
Ray Brothers: It was great actually! Awesome fish, tons of variety and helpful info! Only problem i had was the plants. Most of them looked dead and i tried to get the best looking one and even that is coverd in black algee and a lil dead, but overall a great place to go for fish!
Gwendolyn Smith: At first I was wondering if I wanted to purchase my dream saltwater tank at this store because as I was looking around the female employee never acknowledge me and acknowledged another customer who came in the store after me. But when Mr. Miles finished with his customer I was acknowledged and taken care of and did purchase my 1st saltwater dream tank for my home. Thank you Mr. Miles for appreciating a customer. As for your female employee if she doesn't like servicing ppl of color I suggest she find another job.
Pins and Mickey waffles: Very informative!!! Fantastic service. Was super helpful for all my many questions
Gwen Hunt: Very friendly and helpful staff. Great prices on fish. Worth the trip.
Betsy Barker: Great guy to help you with any tank, always knows his stuff!!
Stephan Leming: Realy great place for fresh and saltwater tanks. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
