WakeMed Children's Hospital: what do users think?
Eli Rubio: Best children’s hospital
Molly Keshawarz: Amazing staff! Quick to be seen. Treated my daughter with kindness.
John Martini: Great experience for a very scary time in my son's life. Made us feel safe, secure and cared for.
Kirsten Kall: Highly upset the way Wake Med Children’s Hospital has gotten. Nurses are super nice and love the kids. One doctor that was VERY unprofessional her name was Allison Levi. She was unprofessional in every way. She didn’t once talk to my 3 year old. She acted as if she didn’t want to do her job. My daughter had to get a staple in her head from a gash in her head. Her father, myself and ambulance lady said the gash didn’t need but maybe liquid stitches. Well this doctor rather put a baby in more pain than a 3 year old should go through. Ambulance lady said she didn’t need staples. The doctor in and said she was doing a staple because it started to bleed again, we said no can’t you do a liquid stitch and she said no im doing a staple. I said no, the lady in the ambulance said she didn’t need one. She come back in with the staple gun. Had a nurse grab my daughters head, pushed the staple gun to her head, that staple didn’t go through, so she pushed her head down again and put a staple in. After I her mom said No staples! She was very rude, didn’t talk my daughter through what was going on or nothing. Once she done she left. My daughter got it out 5 days later, her pediatrician office couldn’t get the staple out because it was looped into her head and they didn’t have the right tools to get it out. So my daughter was sent to the emergency room, after 4 hours they finally got it out. Doctors and nurses said they have never seen anything like this before. We will be getting a lawyer and she will be sued for my daughters pain!!
Shatyra Barnes: Words can’t explain the JOY I received from this place. I am sooo sooo thankful! You guys saved my daughter. I appreciate the TEAM!!! So many good staff members. W en are still here and I just want to say thank you guys for the best experience ever. We live an hour away & I thank God for all of you.
Holly Mitchell: From the amazing transport staff to the second we got here, we have been nothing but cared for my son every minute! As soon as we arrived, there was a whole “pit crew” waiting for him to get him ready; talk to me, and prepare us for his stay. The nurses and doctor were all here IMMEDIATELY. They had a binder for me to educate me on what was going on whit my son and an iPad ready with informative videos to help me on the journey. Every nurse has been very caring, nurturing, knowledgeable, and patient. They have explained everything they have been doing each time and why, as well as what they are looking for each time the labs come back. They have set goals for my son and shared the results and a timely manner, I don’t feel left in the dark at all. They have made sure I have had a meal, a place to sleep, blankets and pillows. Not once’s have they made me feel like I have anything to worry about besides my son. Never have I ever had such amazing service. I know my son is in the best hands and that they KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING. He is getting better and I don’t am not made to feel like I am putting anyone out by asking questions. It seems like people really like their job as well. So extremely pleased my son is taking care of here!
Tamara Johnson: Prior to coming to WakeMed Children’s Hospital, I took my daughter to a local doctor regarding an ear infection & was prescribed meds for her to take. After 4 days without any improvement, I drove 1 hour and 15 minutes to take my daughter to WakeMed Children’s Hospital as my child continuously complained about her ear hurting. We arrived around 4:45 PM and only waited approximately 5-10 minutes before being called to the back. The doctor was able to verify that my daughter had an ear infection and provided education on the meds that were previously prescribed by the local doctor which was classified as a steroid and ineffective for treating an ear infection. The doctor prescribed my daughter the proper antibiotic and pain meds to help clear up her ear infection. The hospital provided my child with amazing care AND they had great patience with her as my daughter was a tad bit uncooperative, crying, and screaming. I am pleased with the services, care, education, and professionalism provided. I’m glad I made the trip to this hospital.
Luis Soto: If I could, I give this place NO STARS. From the time you check in to the time you’re seen is almost 3 hours. I came in with my son having a 104.6 fever and wasn’t seen for almost more than 2 hours. People who were coming in after my son and I, were being seen before us. The hospital must be understaffed or overworked (which I understand) but patients should be seen in the order they’ve come in (unless an emergency) My opinion, I hate this hospital.
Philippe Bulauitan: I took my child for care at WakeMed Children's Hospital and was appreciative of the care. However, upon receiving my bill for services, the price breakdown is absolutely outrageous. $50 for a dose of benadryl, $17 for a dose of ibuprofen, $275 for an antibiotic that costs dollars, $80 for a u/a that costs $8, $137 for a urine culture that costs $20, $1000 for an u/s that costs $200! I contacted billing/customer service and they could not explain to me the rational behind this. No transparency at all.
deanna wilson: Very slow and they do not have any urgency! They are not going to be satisfied until someone's child dies in the waiting room!!
Katie taylor: They have been amazing.we went to another hospital that said my little girl just had a tummy bug and sent us home .2 days later we came here cause she wasn't getting better and with in 3 hours she was having emergency surgery to remove a ruptured apendix. The nurses and doctors and everyone else has been so great!
Claire Hoffman: We've been to the wakemed children's ER twice. The first time was for a head wound my son got when he fell off a swingset and needed stitches, and the second was for an asthma attack. We were seen within minutes both times and received excellent care. We were back home in under two hours for the stitches incident. It did cost ten times more than the time we got stitches from the pediatrician, but I guess that's the price of an after hours emergency. All the Dr.s and staff we interacted with were fantastic and I would highly recommend the children's er here in an emergency.
Ashley Hamilton: fell while he was playing and injured his tooth. This happened just before bath and bed time (around 8:00 pm
samantha anderson: I’ve been waiting 4 hours for discharge. The Dr said she was discharging my son and the nurse is too busy to discharge. It’s been 4 hours now. Someone else could be using this room.
Cecilia Hernandez: 2 weeks ago my 1year old was dehydrated due to a virus and I only know this because I ended up pleading to be seen earlier at the WakeMed Pediatrics in Morrisville, which was an amazing place with a very compassionate and caring nurse and physician who took care of us. Naturally, I ran to the WakeMed Children's hospital first because I knew my daughter was not okay, she had not eaten or had anything to drink since the night before and was vomiting bile, and seemed very pale. I was already worried sick and panicking. When I arrived to the WakeMed Children's hospital the Nurse who was registering upfront was so unprofessional, rude, and belittling. She treated us like trash with the worst attitude and did not make eye contact with us until she had us go around the desk to take vitals. She seemed irritated to be there and annoyed by anyone coming up to the front desk! Working in healthcare and close to physicians myself and providing medical services, I was completely appalled by her attitude and treatment toward us; personally, I would never treat any of my patients with disrespect of any type because of my own personal problems. I always try to stay away from the ER unless I know its a true medical emergency, but because of the way she treated me I got up and left to get medical attention elsewhere. I am aware of the staffing shortage in healthcare and it truly saddens me that this nurse (blonde, young, blue eyes, cant remember her name) lacks so much compassion when it comes to patients in desperate need. When I decided to leave the waiting room I thought about going back to give her a piece of my mind but decided my daughter is 100x more important than anything. I do hope that "nurse" finds her true calling because working with patients is not it for her!
Dan W: My wife is a 100% disabled US Veteran. She was seen in the emergency department here, and the VA AUTHORIZED ALL PAYMENTS. Fast forward 3 months and I am being HOUNDED by collections agencies. I have spent so much time on 3 way phone calls between myself, the VA, and collections agencies. NOT EVEN WITH WAKE MED PEOPLE, they just threw us to the wolves when there was some paperwork issues between them and the VA! Wake Emergency Physicians don’t care about Veterans, and they want to ruin your life. I will be pursuing damages with my lawyer.
Mika Cee: Brought both of my kids here since it is a childrens hospital ….POINTLESS only was told what they thought it could be very pointless I could’ve did that …..I do not recommend bringing kids here they honestly could’ve cared less and when I asked for someone to talk to of course I was hit with the famous line no one is a available I wasted only about 4 hours here for that thanks
Ethan McRay: Wont let me see my sister cause siblings arent allowed to see patients 😐 and the white lady at the front desk asked if she was pregnant and we replied with no and she said are you sure😐😐😐
Noah Whitley: I might be a little biased here but when I was around 6 or 7 years old I went in for a few days due to ulcerative colitis, we didn't know that at the time so all they did for the couple of days I was there was take blood samples. By day 3 I looked like a dead body, and I didn't feel any better. My parents thought I was gonna die in this place. Luckily I was transferred to UNC chapel Hill and I was out of that place in no time feeling the best I ever felt. The adult wing is no better
Hannah Collins: Ive taken my 2 year old here 3 times and they never diagnose anything. They just look at him and say “yeah it’s this”. He had what looked like chicken pox and they said it was hand foot and mouth when he had that a month earlier and he was very ill and needed help. They said a “viral skin issue” and fixed nothing. They never listen to my concerns. They jump to one thing and that’s it.
Kristina Ruggieri: Absolutely blown away at the amazing care the entire staff provided when I had to take my 2.5 year old in. They were beyond caring and patient with my very sick kid and took the time to explain everything. Couldn't recommend this ER more.

Triangle Pediatrics: what do users think?
Kody Grilz: Absolutely horrific and traumatizing experience with Dr. Horowitz and my newborn son. We should have listened to the warnings our friends gave us. Steer clear.
Jennifer Childress: They are awesome!!!! I was more nervous than my 4 year old. ( I have 5 kids total…. So this isn’t my first rodeo.)Leigh Ellen Freeman was our provider. She was TOP NOTCH. GREAT BEDSIDE HUMOR!!!
Kelly Belk: My child has been a patient for 11 years. I cannot imagine going anywhere else!!
Mia McMillan: Love Triangle Peds- both our kids are patients there, have been seen by multiple providers, it has always been a pleasant and helpful experience. Front staff is polite, quick, and will help as well. We are big fans of the 24h nurse line- it has helped numerous times.
Adrian Dunston: My oldest just turned 18. They've been with us every step of the way. One of my kids has had several medical twists and turns. Dr. Baer and Triangle Pediatrics have supported, advised, and helped us get back to good every single time. I don't generally write reviews. Triangle Pediatrics is worth it.
Jessenia Navarro: When my son got his 9month shot the nurse was really rough with him, I brought it to someone attention we talked about it and said I wouldn’t get the same nurse went back and got the same nurse and made the experience very uncomfortable.
Stephen Summerall: We love TriPeds. Dr. Chao and Leigh Freeman, P.A., have been incredible caretakers for our son. The nurses line is always caring and ready to help. As new parents, we’ve utilized the nurses line and hang up with a plan. Thank you to the wonderful nurses. Both Dr. Chao and Leigh have incredible bedside manner and truly care about their patients.Unfortunately, the billing department is unlike any billing department I’ve ever dealt with. While the practice is great, we dread calling the billing department for any questions. Laura is incredibly rude and lacks any personal or customer service skills. The most recent experience involves unread messages in the patient portal. The medical staff uses the portal but trying to get a response without follow up messages to the billing department is impossible. (Voicemails are not returned.) We’ve been seen at other facilities and they (Duke, UNC, WakeMed, local clinics) can bill without issue. However, it is constantly a struggle at TriPeds. Last year, we were over charged several hundred dollars. Again, the wonderful medical staff keeps us coming back. Hopefully, one day the billing process will improve.Edit: Thank you to whomever from TriPeds left a comment. Yes, we have spoken with Martin, the practice manager, who has been a big help.
Pragya Luintel: We have been going to triangle pediatrics for years and always had a great experience. The doctors take their time to address any concerns and are never rushed. The nurses are patient with kids and make them feel comfortable.
Joanna Kaswarra: We’re pretty new to the practice and have only been there for 3 or 4 visits between 2 kids, but we have been so thankful for the various doctors we’ve interfaced with while at Triangle Peds. In particular, Dr. Baer has been compassionate, knowledgeable, timely, and empathetic. I have appreciated her taking the time to listen to the whole story before making recommendations/applying her medical knowledge and personal experience as well as her ability to connect me with resources. I regularly feel empowered as a parent leaving TP!
Peter Filipov: We are visiting the office since my kid was born. Now, she is 4 years old. Great experience for the past 4 years!
Cassandra White: We started going to this practice in 2010 when we had our daughter. We loved it and Dr. Adams. We always felt comfortable and listened to. Starting in 2015, we've had some incidents and I'm to the point of leaving. I have called twice in the last 3 months for my son to have a sick visit and both times was talked down to and told to manage my son at home. Both times I ended up having to use an urgent care because they would not see him. In May of 2019 my children had well visits done. Dr. Horowitz decided to tell my daughter about vaccines and used fear mongering statements. "if you don't do this vaccine then you could die". She is 12 and he told me in front of her she needs to learn portion control and I need to make sure she isn't sneaking food. She is not even chubby or showing any signs of obesity. This made me very upset. I contacted the office manager, it went in one ear and out the other. Even said "that doesn't sound like him".I feel everyone needs to know about what happened. And many others I've talked to have similar experiences.
Nancy Lamb: Leigh Freeman is amazing and has looked after both my kids since they were babies. Highly recommend her and Triangle Pediatrics!
Caitlin: I have been taking my 2 children to Triangle Pediatrics for 4 years now and I am so thankful for this practice. We love Dr. Capps for our well visits but when we have seen other providers we have always been satisfied with the care we have received. One of the things I love most about the practice is the after hours triage nurses they have on-call. They are such life savers! They are always very kind and very helpful in terms of helping you assess your child, what you can do to help them, and determining whether or not they need to be seen and if it is urgent or can wait for an office visit. They never make you feel silly for calling. I should also add, the nurses who answer the phone during the day offering the same assistance are just as stellar.I also love that we have always been able to get a sick appointment (not always with Dr. Capps, but we have always been happy with whoever we have seen) when we needed to, and even in the middle of the "tripledemic" this winter, Dr. Capps didn't rush us or make us feel bad for needing to come in to the office. She gave us her full attention and even came back in to the room to tell us she thought about my child's symptoms more and wanted to try a different treatment plan and explained why. She always treats my children with respect, asks THEM questions as well as myself. My youngest wants to grow up to be a pediatrician with 3 kids just like Dr. Capps so I think that says it all. :)In summary, this office, between it's nurses, doctors, and the way it is run is top notch and a medical haven for families. Thank you for all that you do, Triangle Pediatrics!
Moad Kamel: Great Staffing and doctors
Pam Dean: I can't say enough good about this practice! They are so very helpful and have been such an encouragement to our family through times of illnesses throughout the years. We love Dr. Chao! She is amazing! Definitely recommend Triangle Pediatrics!!Edition - I called yesterday morning to get our daughter in for a sick visit and as Dr. Chao was out of the office, we saw Leigh Freeman. When we arrived for our appointment, she had already read through our daughter's chart and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I was so very impressed!
Emily Barr: We absolutely love this pediatric office. Being a first time Mom everything and anything is scary but this office and their staff always put us at ease and we feel very well cared.
Catherine Bartels: We love Triangle Pediatrics! Our three kids have been going here for the last 5 years and we have been very happy with our care. It is so nice to know that I can always call them and talk to a nurse (even after hours!) if I have any concern at all. Even if I'm not sure if my child needs to be seen, the nurses are always so helpful and I'm never on hold for long. I can always get a same day sick visit when I need one and they are pros at filling out daycare and school paperwork.
Katherine Green: We have had positive experiences at Triangle Pediatrics. My kids usually see Dr. Baer, who is fantastic - she answers every question we have and we don't ever feel rushed. We've seen a handful of other providers too, and all have been great. They are almost always able to get us in for same day sick appointments. I've called and talked to their nurses several times as well, and they're always helpful and give good advice. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for a pediatrician's office.
Richard Lepine: (Dec 14, 2022) I'm updating my review after taking my case to their operation manager who also overview the invoicing department. He explained to me that he was newly hired to help with issues like mine and would make sure it would be handled professionally now that he was on the case. In the end, he took care of resolving the billing issues, applied all the provider discount and insurance money and made sure I was treated respectfully and that he will address the personnel issues internally. I think that they are aware of some of the issues they have and are taking the right step.(November 5, 2022) I had a bad experience there. I paid out of pocket for services that ended up being covered by my insurance. My insurance sent them the check but I had already paid them. I tried to get a refund... still waiting after 2 months trying to get the billing clerk to fix it... No respect, very rude person. I would stay away until someone there in the leadership position teaches them core value like respect, understanding and honesty. I will revise this review if and once I get my money back and if I get some excuses from Lisa Zattiero, their billing clerk for the disrespect and condescending attitude. No customer deserves to be treated like that.
Carl Disi: We've had good experiences here since moving to the area a few years ago. Our child looks forward to going to the doctor.
Christa Hogan: Moved to Apex from across town and was happy to find a great pediatric office. Everyone from the staff to nurses and doctors have been empathetic and knowledgeable partners in caring for our three kids.
