After just a couple of months at Millpond Dance, my daughter learned more skill and technique than the four years combined at the previous studio. Even though I didn’t have any experience with dance I instantly wasn’t impressed and the parent observation days were just a joke.I was so happy when Millpond Dance opened and we switched instantly without any regrets. I am always amazed by how many new steps they learn each session. Watching the kids move and dance is really impressive. Lisa McCorkle: I was skeptical to start my daughter in dance lessons at 4 years old, but she expressed a love for dance so we gave Starpath a try. Their teachers really understand and know how to work well with children. I'm amazed at the patience they have with the young age groups and how they can not only keep young ones engaged in a class, but also manage to have relative success in teaching them routines. When my daughter started at Starpath she had a hard time focusing and doing what the class was told to do, but after a few months she was focusing and following instructions better, memorizing steps and routines, showing off what she was learning to us at home, and having a blast with the music and activities incorporated in class. Students are awarded with stars and get a lot of encouragement. They performed their recital at the Carolina Theater. I thought my daughter would be shy on such a large stage, but the teachers gave them multiple opportunities to get a acclimated to it and had practiced with the students so much that they did great. I was so proud to see my daughter front and center in her group on stage performing her choreography and smiling brightly. She loved the experience and is now half way through her second year at Starpath. I love seeing her grow as a dancer and have a great time in class with her friends. The Starlight Tots and Starlight Kids classes have been a great foundation to develop her love of dance and music. Now when she dances, she performs the choreography confidently and really shines.

Challyndel Slaughter: My daughters have been with Graceful Expressions for almost 4 years now with a gap where we tried another studio after moving. We quickly regretted that decision. Miss April has managed to foster this unique atmosphere of relaxed fun balanced with a desire to be better. She helps the dancers fall in love with dancing so they want to pay attention. They want to get ready and come to class. I have never struggled to get my girls to WANT to go to a class at Graceful Expressions (in fact, I've had to limit the amount they can sign up for) whereas with the other studio it was like pulling teeth just to get them to put their leotards on and out the door. Each teacher and assistant has greeted them with a huge smile and usually big hugs. The recitals are absolutely beautiful! After having attended several different studios recitals in the area, I could see the difference from the Itty-bitty dancers to the older ones on pointe there really is a Graceful difference 💗
Lindsey McGowen: We have really enjoyed the last year at Graceful Expressions! They've done a great job offering lots of indoor and outdoor class options, with tons of different styles to choose from. Love how engaged they are in the community - we rode the Graceful Expressions float in the Cary Christmas Parade and they donated to the silent auction at my daughter's school. Ali Shipley Bender: One of the bright lights of the past few months for us has been finding Clara's wonderful dance studio, Graceful Expressions. I first learned of them because they were doing a unique outdoor dance exhibit which I thought was a great way to still allow their students to perform during the pandemic, and Clara had been asking about dance classes so I gave them a call. They were amazingly accommodating as we tried out about 10 different classes to try to find the right fit, and now Clara eagerly looks forward to her weekly contemporary classes, which are offered outdoors, virtually, or in-studio depending on what we are comfortable with. It has been so great. To know that even with covid she can look forward to her class has been such a happy reassuring feeling! And they do the coolest, most creative work during class, including incorporating writing (her favorite!). I loved how the studio worked with a local nursing home to move their holiday parade outdoors to still celebrate and honor the residents, and then we were so touched when just before Christmas an ornament was hand-delivered to our doorstep by the studio. We are so glad to have found Graceful Expressions!

This year has been especially difficult for us as a family and this studio has gone above and beyond to make sure my daughter can still dance. We have moved 45 minutes away and still drive to Cary one night a week for dance.
Mary Doerr: Graceful Expressions Dance Education has worked tirelessly to provide quality dance instruction to my 6 and 4 year old. They put on a spectacular individual recital experience last June and have continued to offer safe dance classes outdoors and online, which my girls look forward to. Our dance lessons have provided a regular social and physical outlet during a time of great uncertainty and we are very grateful. I can’t say enough about the wonderful dance instructors who provide grace and good technique! Everyone is wonderful with young children! We have also throughly enjoyed summer princess dance camps and their annual father/daughter dances.
Carey Randall: This is my son’s sixth year and my daughter just started. The teachers love and care for my kids so much and believe in every child. April is wonderful! Graceful Expressions is so much more than dance and is a wonderful community. This year we have enjoyed small in person classes as well as online classes.

The dance companies have also been an amazing experience and given her the opportunity to learn a lot of new skills, including choreography. My daughter attended a birthday here years ago and since she has hosted a party here, attended summer camp programs and taken classes. The shows they perform to highlight all students and dancers are choreographed masterpieces! The owners and staff are not just invested and devoted to dance but to our community and our children. Five stars simply does not express what a rare gem this studio is!

Kelly Karius: My youngest daughter just finished a week long track out camp at Starpath. The camp, ShineBright was a week before Christmas and focused on the theme of the Nutcracker. She had such an incredible time. They danced, they did sweet little art projects, they watched pieces of the ballet. The best part was they were visited by a ballerina from the Carolina balle, Ella Volpe. She even brought them signed point shoes. The memories my daughter made this week will last a lifetime.

The camp was well organized with a great degree of variety and fun in the day to keep kids engaged, and Ms. Brittany was so responsive to my questions. I was amazed by how much my kindergarten daughter learned and retained during the week. She was so proud of herself and the performance on Friday was a wonderful confidence boost. She immediately asked when she could attend the camp again…we will absolutely be back! Thank you, Ms. Brittany!

Our daughter started dancing in the Starlight Babies class when she was two, and she went from being a shy and quiet student, to a dancer who asks when "dance day" is each week. Her confidence, not only in dance and performing but for being in front of any group of people, has skyrocketed and it is a direct result of this studio's care, hands-on approach and skill-building. Crystal Hodak: We have been with Starpath Dance Academy for over 8 years now, and we LOVE this studio! The studio has been like a second home for my girls. Starpath is the perfect mix of learning a variety of dance styles and skills while also having fun and forming friendships. Over the past 8 years I have been impressed with the dance and choreography skills my daughters have developed. There is a wide variety classes, including an adult's tap/ jazz class that I have been taking for 5 years! End of year recitals are professional, entertaining, very organized, and split into smaller shows, so each show is only about an hour. Recitals are also optional. If you want to take your dancing a little more seriously, there is a professional path team and a competition team. My girls have had awesome experiences and opportunities as a part of the competition team. Starpath offers a Teachers Assistant program which has been absolutely amazing for my daughter. She has learned many valuable lessons and skills from being a TA and participating on the charitable group called S.H.I.N.E (Starpath helping in neighborhoods everywhere). My girls are gaining so much more than dance skills!

She has grown in so many aspects from her time there. Her confidence, strength, and self discipline are all things that have greatly improved since being with Starpath. Ella Hodak: Starpath is like my second home, the staff is so caring and will help everyone in class. My teachers are Mrs. Lindsey, Miss. Sierra, and Mrs. Ashley. Mrs. Lindsey is so nice and supportive of everyone at the studio. Mrs. Sierra encourages me to work hard and I am learning so many hard skills! Mrs. Ashley is so much fun to be around, she is just such an amazing teacher.
