Todd McClurkan: First, the good about John Delaforce and Blue Haven. As I began to look for the right contractor to help my family put in a customized, in-ground pool, John was the first one to respond. He is busy, so I appreciated him accomodating the schedule. John is very knowledgeable and took time to understand what we were looking for. That said, my property has some nuance to it (slope, septic lines), and John refused to go out and actually look at the property until after I signed with him.I let him know when I got the initial quote that I would have to get another quote from a different contractor as well, but since he was going on vacation the following week I didn't view that as an impediment. John offered (though I didn't ask) to check in with me once via email when he was on vacation, which I appreciated. At this point, I would have given him 5 stars as a review.In John's absence, a second contractor went and visited the property and identified a few of the nuances that I had told John might imply some additional work. The other contractor was also very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and then gave me a quote that was $20,000 HIGHER than Blue Haven. So of course I went back to both contractors to try and dive into the details of the quotes, to ensure that I was comparing apples to apples.At that point, John told me that he was not interested in competition, and had invested enough time in me and my project (even though he had not even visited the property!).So I happily chose the more expensive contractor because John D and Blue Haven obviously did not care about MY project and did not prioritize me. Moreover, they fear healthy competition. I have little doubt that BH has done terrific work for some, but if you are looking for a real partner for your project, I would look elsewhere.

David Langston: We started working with John Delaforce and Blue Haven Pools last summer to design a gorgeous outside sanctuary for our family. The plans were beautifully rendered, and they exactly matched what we had been searching for in an outside living space. John's attention to every detail was impeccable, and he even included features we had never even considered! Upon sending the plans to permitting, we were devastated to learn that there were unforeseen issues with our backyard that would prohibit us from ever digging. Needless to say, we were surprised and extremely frustrated, as we had already signed the contract with John and paid the deposit. With no questions asked, Blue Haven refunded our entire deposit; in fact, we didn't even have to ask for it back. John and his team offered it to us. We 100% recommend John Delaforce and Blue Haven Pools for your outside living space needs. They are extremely professional, their designs are exquisite, and they care about serving families. We will definitely be using them in the future.

Adam Butler: We just completed construction of our gunite pool with Blue Haven. Everything from the design process with John Delaforce, through to the construction and finalizing the product with Joe Bertolami and Curtiss Brock as been exceptional. Joe and Curtiss were always available when needed and were exceptional at dealing with any question or issue that came up. Their service made us feel comfortable while our back yard was destroyed and then re-built into the oasis it is now.

Janel Sexton: We contracted with Blue Haven to build a free form pool for us last spring. The sales person (John Delaforce) used high pressure tactics on us ("I don't have any more times for pre-sale" [discussion with you]), and they were considerably more expensive than 3 other quotes we got, but we went with them because we thought they had a good reputation, and this was a huge investment for us. From the very beginning we were disappointed... the promise of a thorough, well conceived design process never materialized. We wanted expert advice on designing the right pool for us, but what we got instead was a rushed, 'I don't have any time for you' approach. In fact, the draft design we came up with after the first meeting was never modified--when we asked to discuss possible modifications and collaborate more on the shape, they threatened to dramatically delay the start date. Throughout the months of working with them, we were often disappointed with how they scheduled work to be done, despite us going to great lengths to accommodate them, and giving them our schedule ahead of time. Early on in the project we asked for a change (that became necessary because of the design process being cut so short) John Delaforce became angry and immediately called the workers off the job at our house (they were working on another section of the pool). He then proceeded to bind us in a catch-22: either sign a contract agreeing to pay an exorbitant amount for the change, or delay (or permanently stall?) the project. We had no choice but to sign--we had a contract with them and a big hole in our yard. It was essentially extortion. To skip ahead to the end, our pool heater did not work for the first 4 months, during which time they made feeble efforts to repair it; it became obvious that they didn't know how to work their own equipment and that they were covering up their incompetence and the poor installation job they did. When politely confronted with our concerns, the owner of the company, Curtis Brock, became hostile and defensive, and was nothing short of rude and unresponsive.BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY-STAY AWAY!!

Derrick Hart: Our family began looking into putting in a swimming pool in fall of 2021. We have kids that love being in the water and thought it would be a good way to increase our outdoor activity in the backyard. After reaching out to about 8-10 contractors to discuss our project, we decided to go with Carolina Creations. We wanted a fiberglass pool because of the ease of maintenance and speed of install. Upon our first meeting with Andy, I really appreciated that he 1) came to our site early before we decided to choose them, 2) he provided 3d renders and included decking layouts in a timely fashion 3) he was very responsive to emails usually with same day responses. Other builders we had talked to were slow to respond and would only snip pool shape into our survey. After some discussion, we selected a pool from Imagine Pools and signed the contract In November. With lead times being strained, they installed our pool in March 2022 which I was very happy about. The install went pretty smoothly aside from a ton of rain the day after dig day. The overall installation including decking took about 5 weeks and they were very communicative throughout the process. Jeff (owner) and his team are very professional and were on site consistently throughout the process. We are very pleased with the completed install and the kids have had a blast even when the air temps were in the 60’s. Everyone else offered "to take a look sometime next week" or was completely nonresponsive. I truly feel that my pool and I are important to him, and that is refreshing indeed.

The design phase - certain aspects of the pool system were not well explained, so I would recommend that you educate yourself on pool systems so you can know exactly what is being offered. The construction process was the most challenging with lack of clear communication, and poor quality of job site management (cleanliness and subcontractor management)...but the current construction and labor market is challenging all over, so this is likely the same challenge for all pool builders today. Scott Skipper: This has been an ongoing problem since Day 1 which began in March. So many delays, rescheduling and ordering the wrong supplies. The liner didn’t fit, workers coming and going as they please. They still haven’t removed all the dirt. We can’t get our yard done until they remove all the dirt which we paid for. This has been one big mess. If the finished product is anything like how this process went then we are going to be in a world of trouble!

Michelle Arsenault: We had a nightmare experience with Premier in Raleigh, NC. First, the owner of the company, Len, is completely unprofessional and should not be working with customers. As evident by the screen shot below he is rude and arrogant and tells customers "he wants them out of his life". This was after he stopped our project progress because we had asked for the change order we had been assured we would have when the project started and did not receive until the very end and at that point they tried to over charge us thousands of dollars my husband and I had to dispute. We had to go back and forth with numbers 4+ times and ultimately just paid them to move forward because Len stopped the delivery of our concrete when it was already in route to our house. You can see in the picture that at this point my husband is trying to play nice just to get things moving.Our sales person presented issue after issue originally quoting us for an enormous retaining wall we didn't need. He kept telling us "he knew what he was doing" and would get mad if we questioned him. When it came down to it he tried to cover himself by overcharging for things to keep the price where it was quoted. At one point he stood in my yard, yelling at me and pointing at me, and had to be removed from my back yard by my PM. We had to ask him not to step foot on our property again and Len defended his actions.Our stone work had to be redone several times and is still not correct but we had to give up on getting it fixed again. Our concrete work is still a mess with crooked lines and coping, etc. and ultimately we had to let it go because they couldn't fix it correctly. We still can't set the volleyball net in the cups in the concrete because the cups weren't set properly and are dented and crooked. Our pool wasn't ordered when we were told it would be and we were told that "Latham forgot to put the order in for your pool" and our hot tub was delivered wrong. From start to finish this project was a mess and the only saving grace was that we loved our Project Manager, thankfully.AVOID PREMIER Raleigh at all costs. There are a ton of other pool companies in the area - hopefully you'll have better luck with them!**EDITED TO ADD AFTER RESPONSE FROM THE OWNER: He continues to try to insult us. However, we bought waters and lunch consistently for the subcontractors our project, we provided one whole team with pizza and bought a huge Gatorade water container that was always out with ice water and cups for every sub** ...The contractors (other than the concrete team that also continually messed up our rock wall) had nothing but wonderful interactions with us and the only reason the concrete team was upset was because they kept having to redo their messed up work.Three pools in our neighborhood and 3 EXTREMELY unhappy customers with NOTHING good to say about Premier ...Final payment amount was withheld due to it being over 8k wrong. When asked to review it the numbers jumped from 10k to 4k to 7k to finally 2k. They had extra pumps, etc in our contract that held up payment. It took them weeks to review.BEWARE ... clearly this owner will continue to dig himself a hole and insult customers**
