Tina Gavlinski: My husband and I have been communicating with this company for over a month now, just trying to find out what their schedule is like and if we can get ourselves on that schedule to have an above ground pool installed. Each time we've been told we would get a call back. We were even told someone would come out to give us an estimate but they didn't come out and we didn't even get a courtesy call. Only after I sent an email did I they reach out...only to be told they would be coming out and you guessed it...no show and no call. Such a shame because this company came highly recommended and they were nice on the phone but their lack of communication is a deal breaker. Based on their poor communication skills, I'd be afraid to hire them now. I'm afraid they wouldn't get the job done. If they just had the courtesy to tell us whether they are scheduling the job we asked for or if they are prioritizing bigger jobs, we would completely understand. But they obviously don't need our business if they leave us hanging so many times. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional if you ask me. This company might challenge this review but I have phone records and an email to back this up. Very disappointed. I'd give zero stars if I could.

Casey Givens: Reading the positive reviews on here makes me wonder why we didn’t receive the same positive service that some of these other customers have received. The negative reviews fall more in line with our experience.Communication with this company is awful. We were never notified of an exact install date or time after calling and texting several times with no response. They showed up late one Saturday afternoon without warning- what if we weren’t home? How would they have known where to put the pool? As of the posting of this review, we have a pool in our backyard, it’s 3/4 full with no skimmer installed and their equipment still in our backyard. The day they came back to erect the pool, (also just showed up with no warning) they asked my 15 year old son for payment- the job was not even completed. We didn’t even know they were coming that day- so no- they didn’t get paid that day- plus, like I said- the job was not complete.Since purchasing the pool from Hallmark in Fayetteville, we have yet to receive acceptable communication EXCEPT for when we called them back about payment. We made the mistake of paying in full LIKE THEY REQUESTED before the job was completed. We also asked for an invoice and didn’t receive one. They are the ones who told us to call them when the pool was filled to a certain spot- we called 4 days ago with that information and they have never returned our calls.Jennifer was very kind and knowledgeable while at our house installing the pool- I just wish that they were better with communication. This has not been a positive experience from day 1 and if we ever were to need pool work done again- we will look at a different company. They may need to look into someone more responsible and responsive for their administration/scheduling.I will be happy to update this review as soon as the job has been completed in a timely manner.

Michael Torres: Mako pool services is a small local company that could teach other similar service providers the meaning of excellent personal service and quality workmanship at a reasonable price. We purchased an above ground pool from Hallmark Spas, Pool and Billard on Fort Bragg Road. We asked Hallmark owner if they could recommend a good local company to setup and install our pool. There was no hesitation, they recommended Mako pool services to us. We called Mako pool services and are extremely pleased from our initial call for setup and installation through completion. In our opinion they did not just meet but they exeeded personal service and set an example for quality workmanship expectations for a reasonable price. Both Mako Pool services and Hallmark Spas are the best folks to go to for your pool needs. On Feb 17, 2020, was another great service from to them they had to change the pool liner and sand. We talked to Nikki at the store and she recommended that we buy a sand filter. Having done that, we had problems with the hoses being different sizes. Went to Nikki at Spa and Pool World and she researched it and found us the right hoses. Next she set us up with the right chemicals to get our pool right. And since they test your water for free, it was easy to know what to add to our pool. Nikki even showed us how to winterize our pool. I could go on and on about this company and it's employees. They offer great customer support and are very knowledgeable about their products. Dan Leach: I am writing this to keep other customers needing a pool liner from being subjected to the painful four months I was from trying to get the pool leak fixed that was caused by Derik Core of Elite Pools, Inc. Derik is a likeable person and as long as there is no problem, he is on it until he gets his final payment. Because my liner was damaged because of bleach capsules and unsightly, but not leaking, I contracted with Derik to replace my pool liner with a new, up to date design liner.Within two weeks after his liner installation on October 6, 2022, I noticed the liner was losing water. I called and let Derik know. He said he would take care of it. Two and a half months later, in December a week before Christmas, he finally came by. He spent 45 minutes doing a test and stated it was leaking around my stairs but he didn’t have time to fix it then. Though I asked him about the stair seal when they were putting the liner in, he said it was OK.After four months of contacting him, I realized he was not going to fix the leak caused by his installing my new liner. Since my telling him about the leak the first time, he had only answered two of my phone calls and two texts in four months. His integrity is questionable. My hope is no one else will have to deal with the lack of integrity I have had to deal with in Derik Core and Elite Pools, Inc.

He advised me to check something on my control valve (the back flow). I went out to the pump and that was the water leak problem. Water was flowing out of the back flow. I offered to pay him to replace it but he advised me I could do it. He was great. I am 100% satisfied with my pool installation and the service that I have gotten with it.

Jerrod Keplinger: Really disappointed. Affordable pools advertises itself as a Christian based business but that’s not the experience we’ve had. The owner gave us a price which was to “include everything” but when it came down to it, tried to back out of his word and charge us much more. It’s too bad you can’t trust a mans word anymore. Scott Caisse: I used this company to replace the liner in my inground pool. The initial work was done and was timely. On the second season part of the liner started to come loose. I called and asked The owner to come and look at it. He explained that it would be an $89.00 service call. He said the warranty was only good for one year(almost $2,500.00). My issue was with the workmanship not the product. Poor customer service and does not stand behind his work. I will pay someone else before I give him the business.

Dante Oops: We are absolutely in love with our new pool! Ken did listen us careful and give us advice which he was very knowledge. He never pushed mew to get something bigger and more money. Ken did a beautiful and professional job. I was very impressed with their pricing compared to their competitors. I love that they are a family ran small business. Customer service was great and we have no complaints. I highly recommend this company for the job.

Stephanie Searor: This company did an amazing job installing our pool liner last year. Their prices are fair and they do a good job; however, because they are very good, they’ve gotten very busy, and definitely need more help. The owner’s daughter is doing a majority of the work, and she definitely doesn’t have enough hands or time to get everything done. I hope they can find some good help so that they can take care of even more pools in Fayetteville!

Clinton: Had a great experience from day 1, I highly recommend Affordable pools. Our pool was completed on time no changes in the price no issues and have been enjoying it for several months. Ken and his team are great! I'm not sure about some of these bad reviews because you don't pay until each phase is completed so they don't take your money for a job not completed. I will continue to use and recommend affordable pools for all our pool needs.

He was honest with me about everything up front and did it exactly how I wanted it. I am very pleased with this company!! I will be using them for all my future pool needs! Victoria McIvor: Contacted them in February now it's June and the work was finally completed. My liner was ordered and replaced no problem but the concrete to get fixed is where my trouble began. I had to call them and ask them when the work was going to be done. They never called me without being prompted to explain anything going on, until I asked for a discount for the inconvenience is when I got an explanation and them saying no we can't come off the price. They said the concrete guy was in the hospital for two weeks and with the rain they couldn't get it done faster. My thing is there was plenty of days between march and may to come finish the job but what really upset me is no explanation for anything until I ask for them to come down in price! They should've contacted me and explained to me during the process but they didn't. His daughter took off a hundred for the inconvenience but not her father ken. She understood I was upset and took off what she could which I am thankful but her father was like sorry my guy was in the hospital for two weeks and there was rain so I can't come down on the price. Mind you they had since march after the liner to finish. How many days is that? Exactly, I will never consult them again or recommend them. Very poor costumer service. But they got a star because that's the lowest choice and because of the daughter. Thank you for the discount and I apologize for being so angry in the store. It wasn't you just the whole situation.
